The Guardian for this meeting was Wol.

    Wol Euler: wb
    Wol Euler: buongiorno, qt
    Qt Core: Hi Wol
Wol Euler: how are the holiday plans?
Qt Core: how are you in this pretty sad world ?
Qt Core: good, bocked the hotel
    Qt Core: +o
    Wol Euler: nice :)
Wol Euler: where are you going?
    Wol Euler: (which city)
Qt Core: Cattolica, in the Riviera Romagnola, a standard seaside destination

Wol Euler looks at google maps
Qt Core: it will be a 3.5^4 hours drive
    Wol Euler nods
Wol Euler: ah, yes, near Rimini. Those beautiful flat long sandy beaches
Qt Core: yes, that, a berach umbrella and my kindle ;-)
    Wol Euler: 7gr
    Wol Euler grins.
Qt Core: i'm thinking about if and how much tech to bring, from only my phone but with data and wifi turned off to phone/kindle and tablet and/or laptop
Qt Core: how much disconnected from real world i want to be
    Qt Core: ?
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: these are the modern questions. Our parents debated about how many books to bring
Wol Euler: and bought magazines and newspapers when they were there
Qt Core: yes, but on a "physical management" point of view i hate newspaper on vacation.. as usually i can't find a table to spread them out
Qt Core: but then i need something to pass the time
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: books and a camera for me :)

Wol Euler: my ideal holiday is to find a nice cafe with exceptionally good drinks, on a people-watching street, with shady trees and a nice breeze, and sit there for a week or two
Qt Core: i'd like that, with a great view, yes, people not required ;-)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: great view works too
Wol Euler: but then I've never had to be responsible for another person, as you are taking your sister
Wol Euler: that surely is a factor to consider
Qt Core: give her "word search" and real card for solitaires games and she can go on for hours
Qt Core: but i don't know her on a beach, maybe she will just stay there to roast
    Qt Core: and swim
    Wol Euler nods.

    --BELL--

Qt Core: yesterday i went back to Expo, or better to "Experience rEstate a Milano" a word play on estate=summer and restate=[you] stay
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: they were going to keep some of hte buildings, right?
Qt Core: it is obviously smaller, both in size (less than a fifth) and in things to do/see (way less)
Qt Core: yes, most of the ones by Italy itself and the tree of life
Qt Core: something that usually happens to me in a one on a decade ratio yesterdy happened twice, i cried
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
Qt Core: while in Palazzo italia, in a dark room with views of Italy from space (especially the one from The Cupola of the ISS and after that during the Tree of Life show
    Wol Euler: ah <3
Qt Core: thinking about such beauty and the news from past weeks
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: so much sad madness in the world at the moment
Wol Euler: so many people who can see no solution to *any* problem except to kill somebody
Qt Core: just a few days ago i commented on a video like this one with "and we keep killing each others... http://www.space.com/10260-full-earth-rise.html
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: lovely

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: small-mindedness. I would call it childish, even, with the arrogance and monstrous egotism that little kids have
Wol Euler: but usually grow out of
Qt Core: for the last couple decades i thought we would be able to avoid WW3, not it is becoming more an hope than a probability
    Qt Core: *now
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: we had three generations of mostly-peace for most of us, and now it seems like it's time for mass death again.
Qt Core: wich horrible path we will choose ? the mainaining of status quo in a militarized world divided between super-rich and super-poor or mass destruction and possible end of many (ourts too) species ?
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: maybe a ix of the two, waiting for mass destruction for the super-super rich to emigrate to the moon ? ;-)
    Qt Core: +m
    Wol Euler: heheheheh
Qt Core: we need an Hari Seldon to, at least, save science and art ;-)
Wol Euler: I do wonder where they think they will live once all the oceans are poisoned and the earth stripmined
Wol Euler: perhaps they think God will make special air just for them to breathe
    Qt Core: just money
Wol Euler: they are in for a well-deserved shock, it's sad that the rest of us will suffer with them, and first, and most, and longest
    Qt Core: for reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hari_Seldon
    Wol Euler looks

    --BELL--

    Wol Euler: wow :)
    Wol Euler: thank you
Wol Euler: I have to go back and re-read Asimov ... that was so long ago
Qt Core: the definition of psycohistory and that page last paragraph are quite interesting (and at some level scary too)
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: the application to Big Data is quite apt
Qt Core: yes, if we only would apply that to economy at large and ecology and not to sport betting, finding dates online and plain stock trading...
    Wol Euler: ha, yes
    Wol Euler: worthwhile things
Qt Core: ie, if we just decide to evolve ourselves and not pokemons ;-)
    Wol Euler: yep
Wol Euler: perhaps we need to make a social media smartphone app which rewards people for finding and feeding the homeless
Qt Core: (at least they walk and do some exercise)
    Wol Euler: true :)
Wol Euler: well, Qt, I think it's time for me to go back to bed and try to nap for an hour
Wol Euler: I slept far too little last night
Qt Core: ok, i hope you had some fun at least

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: naw, just slept badly :)
    Qt Core: pity
Wol Euler: take care, be happy and safe
Qt Core: sleep well then, bye
