Riddle Sideways: ty
Riddle Sideways: hi Eden
Riddle Sideways: you made it :)
Eden Haiku: hello Riddle!
Riddle Sideways: not sleeping in?
Eden Haiku: Went to bed early :)
Riddle Sideways: good. maybe :)
Riddle Sideways: was reading the missed guardian meeting posting
Eden Haiku: May I drill you with questions about something in the Torah Riddle?
Riddle Sideways: sure
Riddle Sideways: make it simple tho, lol
Eden Haiku: Something about the mandate of the Zakhor?
Eden Haiku: The duty of memory
Eden Haiku: How do you understand it yourself?
Riddle Sideways: refreshing memory ...
Riddle Sideways: ah, the people's collective memory
Riddle Sideways: that is not static nor the same always
Riddle Sideways: each new point of view
Riddle Sideways: oooooo big subject
Eden Haiku: Yep!
Riddle Sideways: can remember lots of glasses of wine discussing this
Eden Haiku: Was asking that for something else, but I can see how it could relate to the guardian meeting posting/not posting dilemma.
Riddle Sideways: oh! /listens
Eden Haiku: I am the one listening :)
Eden Haiku: About those drunken discussions about collective memories :)
Riddle Sideways: hmmmm, where to begin
Eden Haiku: How to you call the mandate of the Zakhor in English? do you say: "Remember" or " do not forget?"
Eden Haiku: *do
Riddle Sideways: Both (and that was not a flippant or to be funny answer)
Riddle Sideways: over the course of each year there are times this comes up
Eden Haiku: Oh...
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: in holidays, celebrations, services, passages, mournings even weekly services
Adams Rubble: Hello Riddle and Eden :)
Riddle Sideways: Hi Adams
Eden Haiku: Good morning Adams :)
Riddle Sideways: to remember, to never forget, to be in thoughts
Eden Haiku: Was asking questions about the mandate of the Zakhor to Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: Adams, Eden has brought up Zahkor
Riddle Sideways: snap
Eden Haiku: So it's really noth: "remember" and " do not forget", Thanks Riddle.
Riddle Sideways: both (and more)
Eden Haiku: how do you see that mandate yourself Adams?
Riddle Sideways: and put more of yourself in the histories, rememberances
Eden Haiku: As an art historian you must have an interetsing viewpoint?
Eden Haiku: *interesting
Eden Haiku: Museums are ways to remember :)
Riddle Sideways: one example: at passover, we read "When I was a slave in Egypt"
Riddle Sideways: to remember slavery, the people
Riddle Sideways: all the generations
Eden Haiku: Ah yes, so you kind of put yourself in the memories?
Riddle Sideways: yet, at the table
Riddle Sideways: are even more then the 4 types of learners, mindsets, people
Adams Rubble: I have been thinking much about Milarepa's statement the past few days:
"First there was a father and no child; then there was a child and no father. First there was a mother and no child; then there was a child and no mother."
Riddle Sideways: each person is remembering the same differently into the future for the next
Adams Rubble: I have also done much family history so I am well versed in that. One thing is does is make us realize that we are all related in ways we can not imagine
Eden Haiku: Very moving statement Adams. First time I hear about that Milarepa's quote.
Adams Rubble: so it is good to think about all the people who came before us but we also need to think about those living along with them :)
Adams Rubble: I better be careful or I will get on a sopapbox again and get in trouble :)
Eden Haiku: I love it Adams, do get up on your soapbox!
Riddle Sideways: not sure that was stated, Adams :)
Eden Haiku: "Those living along with them" you mean like the contemporaries of our ancestors let's say?
Riddle Sideways: and more
Adams Rubble: yes, for example I have ancestors who were in the country before the revolution. They were here while slavery was being established
Adams Rubble: one of them even owned a slave
Adams Rubble: what was life like for them
Eden Haiku: Oh wow, so we are in fact being connected to so many people?
Adams Rubble: what I am trying to say, is we need to focus past the narrow story of our ancestors
Riddle Sideways: taking time to juxtapose ones self into that place
Eden Haiku: Its like an embodied "we are all one".
Adams Rubble: yes , by the time you get to the 12th generation you have so many family names you can't remember them all. hehe
Riddle Sideways: seeing/knowing the (silver/golden) thread/ribbon that runs all the way back/down
Riddle Sideways: and by extension off into new future nows
Adams Rubble: and of course, as Milarepa was poiinting out, everything will change
Eden Haiku: Riddle was bringing up the guardian meeting earlier Adams. I wasn't there and just fast-read the session but I can see a link between our posting sessions and the duty to remember?
Eden Haiku: Love the silver/golden thread/ribbon running from the past into the future :)
Adams Rubble: when i rad the guardian minutes, I was thinking of Pema and how he would have been able to keep us on pint without bringing in politics
Adams Rubble: I then realized how unskilled I am
Riddle Sideways: ha
Eden Haiku: ha
Adams Rubble: rad=read; pint=point
Adams Rubble: Pema might enjoy a pint too
--BELL--
Eden Haiku: hehe
Eden Haiku: waves to Pema :)
Adams Rubble waves to Pema too :)
Riddle Sideways: waves to Pema, with all the others here in spirit
Riddle Sideways: remembering them
Eden Haiku: :)
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: even the little puff thing on whats_their_name's (Gaya and Fael) shoulder would straighten us out
Eden Haiku: Not sure waht you mean Riddle?
Eden Haiku: *what
(often in the logs): "Faenik is a hairy black ball with eyes and ears."
Adams Rubble: Looking backward, I get awed thinking about how our early ancestors siutting around camp fires were asking themselves the same questions we ask ourselves tens of thousands of years later
Adams Rubble: they had the same desire to be happy
Eden Haiku: Same same yes :)
Riddle Sideways: there was a (snap) point where 2 people mention that whoever bring Hitler in as an argument has lost
Eden Haiku: Ah the Goodwin argument?
Riddle Sideways: that this group (as we remember and take forward) allows all subject and examples to be chatted
Riddle Sideways: except politics
Eden Haiku: Except politics is a good idea anywhere :)
Riddle Sideways: nor inequality?
Eden Haiku: *Godwin rather :)
Adams Rubble: I don't think politics should be excluded per se, but it can get us off point
Riddle Sideways: true
Adams Rubble: for example many of the things we talked about last week were fact
Riddle Sideways: yet were clouded by the words mentioned
Adams Rubble: The problem is when some people start disputing the facts, or misinterpreting them, it becomes politics; for example, glbal warming
Eden Haiku: Maybe we would like to be seen as people who predicted the doomsday?
Adams Rubble: hopefully we can be people to provided solutions where we can :)
Eden Haiku: :)
Adams Rubble: can't solve global warming but can resist being an energy glutton
Riddle Sideways: or should we not discuss doomsday wher discussing possible futures
Adams Rubble: and our hearts can open up to the injustices in the justice system
Adams Rubble: which is what we were f=doing last week
Adams Rubble: we got into politics because I was trying to practice tonglen on the people in Cleveland
Adams Rubble: recognizing their suffering
Adams Rubble: which quickly became political
Eden Haiku: oh, I see. Didn't read that session...
Adams Rubble: mea culpa
Eden Haiku: You are forgiven my child :)
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: yes. yes we remember. and yes we forge new memories, realities, peoples. Yes we prey for peace and healed hearts (but, not mention Hitler in any sentence)
--BELL--
Eden Haiku: You just did! You lose!!!
Adams Rubble: Hitler preyed on peace
Riddle Sideways: oh F
Eden Haiku: LOL
Adams Rubble still cannot resist typos after all these years
Eden Haiku: Riddle enjoys our typos so we might as well feed him :)
Adams Rubble: and we enjoy Riddle's too
Eden Haiku: We do :)
Riddle Sideways: moments of everyday and during the week and at least on Friday night we stop and remember and discuss the same things that have always been discussed on Friday nights
Eden Haiku: Typos are traces of our enthusiasm with the keyboard:)
Adams Rubble: and we agree with Riddle that we should pray for peace
Riddle Sideways: From Adams back to Adam
Adams Rubble: and Eve
Riddle Sideways: This here'n be da Tuesday morning prayr session
Eden Haiku: Oh, that's a beautiful way to evoke this duty of remembering Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: Someone said that God should have told Adam and Eve not to eat the snake
Riddle Sideways: lol. like that
Eden Haiku: Ouache, they ate it?
Eden Haiku: Feeling she is at a Tueday morning pray session indeed. Love it!
Eden Haiku: *Tuesday
Adams Rubble: Tueday is Tuesday :)
Riddle Sideways: :)
Eden Haiku: LOL
Eden Haiku: Trueday?
Riddle Sideways: maybe true
Riddle Sideways: if looked at from the odd angle
Eden Haiku: In French, mardi is relating to the god Mars. the warrior...
Eden Haiku: Wondering what "Tuesday" is relating to?
Adams Rubble: Tiw's day - the norse god of war
Eden Haiku: Mobady is the Moon, Wednesday is Mercury, Thursday is Jupiter, Friday is Veus. What is Tuesday?
Eden Haiku: Ah same same then. Thanks Adams :) Remembering 911 was on a Tuesday.
Riddle Sideways: Mars
Riddle Sideways: ty Wikipedia
Riddle Sideways: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuesday
Eden Haiku: waves to Wikipedia :)
Riddle Sideways: Old English "Tiwesdæg" and literally means "Tiw's Day"
Adams Rubble: if we were naming days of the week now we would have a wikiday
Eden Haiku: loves Old English words :)
Eden Haiku: hehe a wikiday!!! And a wifiday!
Adams Rubble: of yes
Adams Rubble: oh
Adams Rubble: and a Burgerday
Eden Haiku: The God Burger?
Riddle Sideways: TEDday
Adams Rubble: Taurus
Eden Haiku: Taurus hehe...TEDday, very sophisticated!
Riddle Sideways: TweetDay
Eden Haiku: Pokemon day!
Eden Haiku: TewetDay yeah!!!
Eden Haiku: *TweetDay, an excellent one Riddle!
Adams Rubble: and we have proven this morning that we can drop politics and talk very seriously and then ascend into wordplay, just as we have always done in PaB
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: :) yes
Adams Rubble: I hope the guardians approve :)
Riddle Sideways: great summation
Eden Haiku: Yes Adams, wordplay is so very precious and playful :)
Riddle Sideways: will edit that out
Adams Rubble: NOOOOOOO
Eden Haiku: NOOOOO
Riddle Sideways: why some see Riddle's session as not serious enough
Eden Haiku: They do?
Eden Haiku: We are dead serious aren't we?
Adams Rubble: of course
Riddle Sideways: of course
Riddle Sideways: snap (again)
Eden Haiku: Our Tuesday morning praying/playing session :)
