Rolled out of bed and headed for the cushion, head still full of dreams which kept recurring as I sat. I tried to follow Pema's suggestion to treat these as "not-mine", like environmental factors outside my control and responsibility, equivalent to birdsong and traffic noise from outside. It's a hard practice to keep in mind while keeping a blank mind, but it definitely helps against the feeling of helpless irritation that the monkeys otherwise provoke.
Grateful that Time seems to be slowing down. Able to be more in the moment, nestled into each moment as it were. With this a sense of dimensional opening and spaciousness. Quiet clear thoughts more available in this spaciousness.
I seem to be on an every other day visit. Today I was wondering about what I wrote a day ago, only to realize it was 2 days ago, my days seem to merge into pairs of days now.
Today I did 100 breaths and stretching Qi Gong exercises. I would love to try Qi Gong with Eliza via video chat to see how that would work.
I then did my 3 part Tai Chi practice which took about 13 minutes . Time to begin slowing things down to 15 minutes or more. Hope to see you all tomorrow. Have a good weekend. edited 19:15, 2 May 2014
Uh very busy day as usual - I am working on finding a way to exercise but not too easy. Lets see tomorrow. I keep trying to stop at least ... might take a while but thats normal I suppose :)
I've found that, underneath an even veneer - probably the one that most people see - Hesse is actually an uneven and inconsistent writer. But that's OK, because I'm an inconsistent reader! :-)
Would find it really fun to video chat Qi gong, but not until I'm more practiced - otherwise you'd be a teacher and I'd be self conscious, Stevie. :) Maybe some of us can do a hangout down the line?
One thing that amazes me is how much energy it takes to do the slight movements, even though energy is generated in other ways... like way of flow is shifted around. I'm sure I don't have the standing posture right, too, because the bended knee is difficult, though all the guidance is that it should be easier.
Another really busy day. Somehow I keep thinking next week will be easier and I'll find time to do what I want and then next week comes and it's just as, and most times, even more busy. Perhaps I need to schedule in creative time just as I have a work schedule. Wonder if it's even possible to do such a thing.
Sleepy time now
Night all
A tribute my husbands mother....by my husband...a lot of processing going on.
My folks grew up on depression era farms in the Willamette valley. My dad was introduced to the outdoors through the Boy Scouts, climbing Mt Hood with an alpenstock made from a hoe handle. They married after the War and moved up to Seattle, joined the Mountaineers, took the climbing course and raised a family. When we were young we spent a lot of time with the Campcrafters, traveling around the NW. I remember the summer of 1961 in Montana, our VW van sucking a valve and being towed 100 miles on a rope behind a pickup to the only VW dealer in the state, camping out by the RR tracks while our 36 horse motor was replaced with the new 40hp model. A few years later Dad drug a few of us up into the Enchantments while Mom stayed home with a newborn and a 9 year old for help. Through it all Mom was there to package meals, pack clothes and make sure we had enough trail mix to get us through each day. Any dirt in the stew was called "camping spices" and we kids didn't know the difference. My folks made many trips around Glacier Peak in the 70's, did the Wonderland Trail and then focussed on the Enchantments, making their last trip in 2002 when they were in their 70s. They had to bivvy halfway up Asgard pass that trip but enjoyed the stars. My kids remember the homemade sausage Mom made, and a ready hand whenever the trail got steep. My mom, Thelma Freece died last week at the age of 86. Goodnight, Mom

"the Wonderland Trail and then focussed on the Enchantments": suddenly I am transported, or it is transported, time collapses, and I am with you Lucinda and family and history and geography, here on the 10th day with we daily commenters & our family, history, geography, chi, movement and stillness together. What a spot!
