The Guardian for this meeting was Storm Nordwind. The comments are by Storm Nordwind.

    Everything is fine

Eliza Madrigal: 's current display-name is "Eliza".
    Storm Nordwind: Good morning Eliza!
    Eliza Madrigal: Morning, Storm :)
Eliza Madrigal: How is *everything* ?
Storm Nordwind: "Everything" is, I expect, taking care of itself! ;-) But I'm fine, thank you. And you?
    Eliza Madrigal: fine :)

    Pavilion ideas

Eliza Madrigal: Bleu and I have been playing with pavilion ideas as helps for my trying to have retreat-style sessions here beginning next week (though it may only be a few weeks of doing that)
Storm Nordwind: I saw the pic of Sienna (or wherever it was)
Eliza Madrigal: ah, yes that is one... she has made a few... one with woodsy scene and the moss garden
Storm Nordwind: Nice idea. Are they transparent on the outside so people can still feel as though they can walk in?
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: she's written a little text too, which says "welcome, please enter quietly"
Eliza Madrigal: I can rezz one if you like so you can see?
Storm Nordwind: In a moment! :)
    Eliza Madrigal: k :)
patowow Resident: 's current display-name is "patowow".
    Eliza Madrigal: hah
Storm Nordwind: Or now is good :)
Eliza Madrigal: k... let me see.... hm...
    Storm Nordwind: Center on 64,40
Eliza Madrigal: mhm... takes a moment to align it all
Eliza Madrigal: so this is the moss garden one
Storm Nordwind: You could put them in a rezzer if that would help :)
Eliza Madrigal: I am embarrassed to say I am still not a great rezzerer
Eliza Madrigal: but so long as I arrive early, which I usually do, I should be fine
Storm Nordwind: "Rezerrer" - I like it!
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Storm Nordwind: Not sure of the texture on this one. Rather giantesque and forbidding
Eliza Madrigal: let me show you the woodsy one
    --BELL--
    Storm Nordwind: Mych better!
    Storm Nordwind: *Much
Eliza Madrigal: this might be my favorite - I like the moss and yet proportionally it is hard to find a good picture
Storm Nordwind: And the effect of the shadows on the central stone is wonderful!
Storm Nordwind: (I guess you have to have shadows on, but I'll post a pic with the log)
Eliza Madrigal: I like this way... hadn't seen it with the various cusion effects
Eliza Madrigal: I don't see the shadows but love your photos
Storm Nordwind: Please move it to one side, so I can verify that's what it is :)
    Eliza Madrigal: which?
    Storm Nordwind: The scenery
Eliza Madrigal: hm.... you mean just nudge it over?
    Storm Nordwind: Yes please
Storm Nordwind: Oh! So it's not shadows. It's a base as part of the scenery
Eliza Madrigal: oh, I see ... you mean the stone itself
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: she made a few bases with the cylinders
Eliza Madrigal: and with your making the circle small it is a great effect
Storm Nordwind: Right. I understand. Sorry to "displace you" ;)
Storm Nordwind: "hide" is the command
Eliza Madrigal: :) k... may well use that one
    Storm Nordwind: and "grass"
Eliza Madrigal: so I'll take it down now but have been curious to show you
Storm Nordwind: Thank you. I like that one, certainly. However, perhaps I should provide you with a facility to temper the inside of the roofs, as they are a little stark when the scenery is installed.
Eliza Madrigal: That would be so nice if not a lot of trouble
Eliza Madrigal: she began with a kind of dome but the cylinder works smoother with the design of the pavilion
Eliza Madrigal: to still feel open

    Perched

Storm Nordwind: Can you replace it for a moment please? Sorry to be a bother!

Eliza Madrigal: not at all.....sunshine might come see too
    Storm Nordwind: By the way
Storm Nordwind: At the lower height it also looks good
Storm Nordwind: It's then like you're perched on a treehouse platform
Eliza Madrigal: lowering it into the ground a bit?
Storm Nordwind: Yes. Try it again
    Storm Nordwind: See? :)
    Eliza Madrigal: you're right :))
Storm Nordwind: I think I like this even better!
Eliza Madrigal: now we are both towering and sheltered
    Storm Nordwind: Yes!

    Luminance and transparency

Storm Nordwind: Now let me fade the pavilion a little
Storm Nordwind: Let's try a little transparency first
szavanna Resident: 's current display-name is "Sunshine".
    szavanna Resident: hi °͜°
    --BELL--
    Storm Nordwind: Hi!
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi!
Storm Nordwind: 50% luminance and 60% transparency seem good. What do you think?
    szavanna Resident: mmm love it
Storm Nordwind: When do you need it by?
Eliza Madrigal: love it too... happy the frame is still there
Eliza Madrigal: Monday 1pm I'll begin these sessions
szavanna Resident: do you need any help to prepare?
Eliza Madrigal: well I hope to keep everything really simple
Eliza Madrigal: and tweak along the way but not be too determined to be too structured
Eliza Madrigal: so I hope the general atmosphere will help
Eliza Madrigal: I may look for another tea set or things like that... not sure
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Hello Pagoda!
    Eliza Madrigal: lol
    szavanna Resident: waves to Pagoda
    szavanna Resident: ;))
Eliza Madrigal: Pagoda we've never been formally introduced... lovely to hear your voice
    szavanna Resident: ;))
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
Eliza Madrigal: qutie a dress Sun!
szavanna Resident: wow Xiri is getting great
Eliza Madrigal: she made the design and clothing?
    szavanna Resident: yes
    szavanna Resident: °͜°
    Eliza Madrigal: impressive
szavanna Resident: yay she is learning quick
Eliza Madrigal: didn't realize she was working on that
    szavanna Resident: ;))
Xirana Oximoxi: 's current display-name is "Xirana".
szavanna Resident: hi twin sister °͜°
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Xirana~
    Storm Nordwind: !
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Xiri :) just admiring your design skills
Xirana Oximoxi: :)) hello Sunji, Eliza, Storm:)
Eliza Madrigal: Maybe addicted now since the party clothing?
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    szavanna Resident: ;))
Xirana Oximoxi: I have fun trying my the textures of my paintings as clothes:)
Eliza Madrigal: ty Xiri :) I hesitate to change here since for some reason that often goes awry
    Xirana Oximoxi: np:)
szavanna Resident: I attached it on the left ear
    szavanna Resident: the rose :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: ahh probably much better
Xirana Oximoxi: have you been talking about acceptance?
Eliza Madrigal: not much so far... have been musing on that wonderful quote given in the guardians session though
    Xirana Oximoxi: oh! which one?
Eliza Madrigal: " I’m using the word in a new way, that points to this deepest acceptance of life, an acceptance, an allowing, that has already been done. And so, when I suggest that you ‘accept’ or ‘allow’ what is – it’s a shorthand way of directing your attention to the fact that in this moment, these thoughts, sensations, feelings, sights, sounds and smells, are already allowed in, because they already appearing! "
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: so that is from Jeff Foster
    szavanna Resident: :) Liz
Eliza Madrigal: more of a sense of living life cultivating acceptance as presence
szavanna Resident: its nice to listen to him again ....I have been watching his videos since Zen mentioned him
Xirana Oximoxi: interesting :) I must read slowly to catch the meaning
Eliza Madrigal: so rather than trying "accept" something as effort this is simply seeing what is going on as already going on ... something like that

    The unreasonable man

Storm Nordwind: I'm reminded of a famous quote by George Bernard Shaw, which some would say runs counter to "acceptance" ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh?
Storm Nordwind: "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man." ~ George Bernard Shaw
Eliza Madrigal: going against the grain can be a way of working with what is I suppose?
    Storm Nordwind: of course :)
Storm Nordwind: Acceptance does not imply laziness or lack of care or compassion

    Carpeting the kingdom

Eliza Madrigal: mmm... I have a sort of story which may relate
    Storm Nordwind: Yes please! :)
    szavanna Resident listens
    szavanna Resident: °͜°
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes :-)
Eliza Madrigal: so in the house every day others get up before me and I really only wake my son, etc...
Eliza Madrigal: so we wake a bit later, and for a long time every morning I'd get up and walk into the rest of the house and be annoyed that the tv is on...
Eliza Madrigal: I prefer to sort of ease into the day at first...
Eliza Madrigal: anyway, so one morning I took complete responsibility for it...
Eliza Madrigal: thought "hm, these are the conditions of my life"
Eliza Madrigal: and saw that it had nothing to do with anyone 'else' in almost any way
Eliza Madrigal: and, it is strange but it was a kind of big shift that let a lot of 'add on' fall away from my mornings
    Eliza Madrigal: (end, sort of)
szavanna Resident: its easier to feel like this a bit later in the day
szavanna Resident: when you wake up - sometimes you get annoyed easier I think
Storm Nordwind: Instead of carpeting the kingdom to comfort your bare feet, you opted to wear slippers instead? :)
    Eliza Madrigal: exactly Storm!
    szavanna Resident: °͜°
szavanna Resident: carpeting the kingdom °͜°
Eliza Madrigal: Sun, maybe that's so... but then for me it felt like setting my day in a certain direction
Eliza Madrigal: so by afternoon maybe there is more fatigue underneath than strictly necessary
Eliza Madrigal: other little things sticking to that one along the way :)
    szavanna Resident: hmm yes
Eliza Madrigal can't imagine others being so impatient with people like I am :P
    szavanna Resident: hm?
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    --BELL--
Xirana Oximoxi: I don't feel you as an impatient person Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: that's comforting, ty Xiri :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: you're welcome:)
Eliza Madrigal: seem to have lost Storm... maybe the pavilion tinkering was too much
Xirana Oximoxi: :) I like the new environment:)
szavanna Resident: hmm he must have crashed
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes...I think so
Eliza Madrigal: he added a little feature where one can fade the pavilion a little so the environment is more seamless

    Closer to the savanna

szavanna Resident: yes so I was wondering what you mean by you being impatient?
Eliza Madrigal: how does it feel Sun?
szavanna Resident: it feels great for a retreat
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
szavanna Resident: may be it could be a bit more clear?
szavanna Resident: not sure if its rezzing for me properly
Eliza Madrigal: let me show you how it is when tall
    szavanna Resident: kk
    szavanna Resident: hmm nice too
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes...very nice too
szavanna Resident: love to have the forest feeling
szavanna Resident: I miss being in forests hmm
Eliza Madrigal: so it is foggy with light streaming through
    szavanna Resident: yes
Eliza Madrigal: when was the last time you were in a forest?
    szavanna Resident: ;))
szavanna Resident: oh you know I am closer to the savanna
    Xirana Oximoxi: this morning :)
    szavanna Resident: yay
    Eliza Madrigal: wow Xiri :)
szavanna Resident: can I move there?
    szavanna Resident: :P
szavanna Resident: the town is a small town so we have lots of big trees
szavanna Resident: which is really great
Xirana Oximoxi: well..I go walking every morning and I live near a forest:)
    szavanna Resident: so nice Xiri
    Eliza Madrigal: what luxury
    szavanna Resident: °͜°
szavanna Resident: hmm in south africa not so easy to walk around
szavanna Resident: when I arrived in 97 -
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... somehow too much quiet :))
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
szavanna Resident: I lived on the savanna
szavanna Resident: and the second day - I decided to go for a walk
szavanna Resident: and someone saw me walking on the dirt road
szavanna Resident: and told me "omg what are you doing"
szavanna Resident: he put me in the car and took me back to the house
Eliza Madrigal: you didn't know him?
    Xirana Oximoxi: oh! why?
szavanna Resident: he was my neighbor
    Eliza Madrigal: ah
szavanna Resident: but didn't really know him since I just arrived
Xirana Oximoxi: is it so dangerous because of people?
Eliza Madrigal: did that change the way you felt in the area?
    szavanna Resident: yes
    Xirana Oximoxi: or animals?
    Xirana Oximoxi: ok
    Xirana Oximoxi: sad :(
szavanna Resident: a woman especially can't walk around by the fields
szavanna Resident: its not sure that its dangerous
szavanna Resident: but its just not done
szavanna Resident: because of the past I think
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... one must adapt a little to different cultural attittudes and behaviours
    szavanna Resident: yes
Eliza Madrigal: when I was about 15 I took a walk at night, to a store to get something for my mom, and when I walked in the store keeper flipped "what are you doing walking around like this at night?"
Eliza Madrigal: before that moment i hadn't felt any fear about it, but I remember then seeing my environment differently

    In Hungary

szavanna Resident: in Hungary ... I walked to the creche every morning - when I was 4-5
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
szavanna Resident: and it was a long walk
Xirana Oximoxi: whe we are too young we can not know all the dangers
Eliza Madrigal: unimaginable to think of that ... 4 or 5!
szavanna Resident: Hungary was very safe for long
szavanna Resident: yes I knew everyone and talked with everyone on the way
szavanna Resident: everyone looked out for me also
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
szavanna Resident: hmm I miss that sort of freedom
Eliza Madrigal: ah, there was a study that was done... years ago for a tv show...something like, they had kids stand on corners in different countries.. various towns
Eliza Madrigal: and behave as if lost or in distress....
    szavanna Resident: ah really
Eliza Madrigal: and they payed attention to how the community behaved
Eliza Madrigal: how long it took for someone to help, etc
Eliza Madrigal: In Japan it was really fast
    szavanna Resident: and other places?
Eliza Madrigal: well in some places the kids were ignored for long periods of time
Eliza Madrigal: or there was a lot of suspicion
szavanna Resident: hmm Hungary was very safe during socialist times
Eliza Madrigal: I guess what it showed is a sense of collective responsibility
szavanna Resident: yes its so important
szavanna Resident: sometimes I think about this during VAI meetings
szavanna Resident: if someone is in a wheelchair
szavanna Resident: I could be his/her legs
szavanna Resident: or if someone can't hear
szavanna Resident: I can be his/her ears
szavanna Resident: if we felt that sort of responsibility
Xirana Oximoxi: I think in Spain people would also worry seeing a small kid alone in the street...
Eliza Madrigal: that's lovely, Sun... seems so simple
szavanna Resident: hmm yes it does seem simple hmm
szavanna Resident: SA is quite challenging - lots of people on the street
    szavanna Resident: that need help
szavanna Resident: its a bit too much and not easy to handle
    --BELL--
    szavanna Resident: wb Stormy :)
Eliza Madrigal: it is a real issue in many places
Xirana Oximoxi: welcome back Storm :)
    Storm Nordwind: Thank you :)
Eliza Madrigal: I think there is still some assumption that everyone has a family to fall back on
    szavanna Resident: yes
    Eliza Madrigal: wb Storm :)
szavanna Resident: so I felt very bad when I lost my mom .... and was wondering "who will help me"
    szavanna Resident: I was 21
szavanna Resident: it felt like I am outside the system
Eliza Madrigal: that's it... that feeling....
    Eliza Madrigal: (((((( )))))))
szavanna Resident: lol actually the government sent me papers and they were addressed to "pensioners"
szavanna Resident: there wasn't even a name for me lol in the system
Eliza Madrigal: so you felt dislocated
    szavanna Resident: yes hmm
szavanna Resident: it took time to adjust to the new situation
szavanna Resident: its so nice to have a mom that watches out for you
    szavanna Resident: hmm :)
Eliza Madrigal: nice to be a mom who watches out :)
    szavanna Resident: also °͜°
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    szavanna Resident: ❤
    szavanna Resident: or dad
    Eliza Madrigal: indeed so
    szavanna Resident: :)
Eliza Madrigal: and uncles and aunties and teachers...
Xirana Oximoxi: I go now... hugs to all :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hugs Xiri :)
szavanna Resident: hugs Xiri ;)) ty for the pretty dress
Storm Nordwind: Bye for now Xirana!
    szavanna Resident: ;)))
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye bye :)
Eliza Madrigal: I need to go also... am going to take a communing with trees walk
szavanna Resident: say hello to the trees
    szavanna Resident: °͜°
Eliza Madrigal: they're calling me out now
    Eliza Madrigal: :)))
    szavanna Resident: byebyeee both :)
    szavanna Resident: see u soon
Storm Nordwind: Tell them I said "Hi" :)
Eliza Madrigal: see you soon lovely friends
    szavanna Resident: ;))
    szavanna Resident: hugs
    Eliza Madrigal: hugs
    Storm Nordwind: Bye for now!
    Eliza Madrigal waves warmly
