The Guardian for this meeting was Bleu Oleander. The comments are by Bleu Oleander.
Bleu Oleander: 's current display-name is "Bleu".
Bleu Oleander: hi Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: 's current display-name is "Eliza".
Eliza Madrigal: thought I was filling in today :)
Bleu Oleander: oooo pretty flowers
Bleu Oleander: nope still here :)
Eliza Madrigal: thanks - this setting is so natural feeling
Bleu Oleander: actually will be able to do next week too
Bleu Oleander: feels "just like home"
Eliza Madrigal: Storm added a little touch to be able to fade the pavilion a bit
Bleu Oleander: ah nice
Bleu Oleander: reallly amazing how much it changes the experience
Eliza Madrigal: I think it is "/9retreat"
Eliza Madrigal: can feel the warm air
Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: a virtual environment inside a virtual environment :)
Eliza Madrigal: traces
Bleu Oleander: yes
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: have you taken part in "deepest acceptance" discussions this week?
Bleu Oleander: yes a few
Bleu Oleander: you?
Eliza Madrigal: has been a full week, not in SL much outside of a Mental Health conference yesterday with VAI
Eliza Madrigal: and the little bit of playing with settings with you/checking on Storm :)
Bleu Oleander: how was that?
Bleu Oleander: the conference?
Eliza Madrigal: quite interesting
Eliza Madrigal: I think our world is changing... perhaps edging toward acceptance
Bleu Oleander: meaning ...
Eliza Madrigal: at least when it comes to mental health spectrums
Bleu Oleander: ah ok
Bleu Oleander: so not all black and white?
Eliza Madrigal: literature has always been full of people who were a bit quirky or overly sensitive yet gifted or valued ... and yet day to day in the world stigma abounds
Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: artists haha
Eliza Madrigal: yes!
Eliza Madrigal: Did you happen to see the Huffington article about artists and their complexity?
Bleu Oleander: yes but haven't read yet
Eliza Madrigal: nothing "new" but I enjoyed the phrasings there... like "juggling many faces" to describe apparent contradictions
Bleu Oleander: nice
Bleu Oleander: was interested in one of our session where we began to discuss age and acceptance of aging
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, yes... great topic
Eliza Madrigal: was just at breakfast with a friend and we were sort of musing about it
Bleu Oleander: yes?
Eliza Madrigal: hm... well I saw someone recently whom I'd met a few times... and years later she is so vibrant and stunning
Eliza Madrigal: opposite of what media suggests happens to women in particular :)
Bleu Oleander: yes
Eliza Madrigal: just such aliveness pouring forth
Bleu Oleander: the poem you posted on the wiki disturbed me in a related sense
Eliza Madrigal: the Plath?
Bleu Oleander: yes
Xirana Oximoxi: 's current display-name is "Xirana".
Eliza Madrigal: it captured her feelings I felt...poets have a way of letting someone enter into a hard to describe feeling or moment
Bleu Oleander: hi Xiri
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Xiri :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Bleu, Eliza :-)
Bleu Oleander: In me she has drowned a young girl, and in me an old woman Rises toward her day after day, like a terrible fish.
Bleu Oleander: I couldn't stop thinking about a "terrible fish" lol
Eliza Madrigal: terrible could mean fierce, I felt
Bleu Oleander: yes even still
Eliza Madrigal nods.... lol....
Bleu Oleander: was not how I feel about aging at all
Eliza Madrigal: yesterday at the conference we had a poetry session..
Bleu Oleander: quite the opposite
Xirana Oximoxi: I've seen some fotos on My Second Life :-) is it a usual activity?..I mean the poetry reading?
Eliza Madrigal: and part of the reason was to be with the dark feelings people had, as it seems being able to accept both/many sides is part of maturity
Bleu Oleander: coming to terms with our mortality
Eliza Madrigal: Well this one was interesting in terms of theme - would think it would be a downer to spend over an hour reading poems by artists with disturbances or struggles, but it felt the opposite
Eliza Madrigal: yes Bleu - mortality
Eliza Madrigal: hm
Bleu Oleander: I read that Second Life will be coming out with 3D goggles to make a more immersive feeling
Bleu Oleander: the article suggested that older people might slip more often into that world
Bleu Oleander: and actually could be a fun addition to long term care :)
Eliza Madrigal: interesting idea
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...
Eliza Madrigal: I'm a little hesitant if it becomes prescribed in some way :)
Bleu Oleander: could be quite stimulating
Bleu Oleander: why is that?
Xirana Oximoxi: why, Eliza?
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: just made available not necessarily prescribed
Xirana Oximoxi: like the websites desingns..the most accessible..the best
Xirana Oximoxi: then each person must decide how to use it
Bleu Oleander: might be better than bingo :)
Eliza Madrigal: this generation is showing it is really possible and probable to stay juicy well into very advanced age - and yes made available is something distinct from encouraging or moving toward that - my mother worked in a care home for a time and I guess I felt those living there weren't facilitated to be outside enough
Eliza Madrigal: :)) can play Bingo in SL
Eliza Madrigal: lol
Bleu Oleander: lol
Xirana Oximoxi: yes :))
Xirana Oximoxi: and golf :)
Eliza Madrigal: hehehe
Bleu Oleander: yes :)
Eliza Madrigal: virtual lawn bowling
Bleu Oleander: lol
Bleu Oleander: dancing
Eliza Madrigal: indeed :))
Bleu Oleander: looking and feeling young and beautiful
Eliza Madrigal: maybe for me it is the puzzle of FL/SL - moving toward seamlessness and cultivating healthy habits
Eliza Madrigal: how would the goggles work?
Bleu Oleander: yes, so how to define "healthy"
Eliza Madrigal: for me healthy right now would be "enough physical" :)
Bleu Oleander: yes definitely
Bleu Oleander: movement is key
Eliza Madrigal nods
Xirana Oximoxi: it can aslo have a more 'mental' side...beeing able to reason and so on, maybe
Eliza Madrigal: true
Eliza Madrigal: ah! today there is a "brain health" event
Eliza Madrigal: Sun will be doing something there... as part of a range of activities to get people to try things they don't normally do
Eliza Madrigal: since flexibility is important - moving out of comfort zones rather than keeping with what one feels good at
Xirana Oximoxi: which kind of activities, for exemple?
Bleu Oleander: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ_BGhA7SK8
Eliza Madrigal: well she will be trying to get people to play with prims
Bleu Oleander: this was a very interesting program
Eliza Madrigal clicks
Eliza Madrigal: would like to see the whole program
Xirana Oximoxi: interesting:)) 3 minutes a week :))..I'd like to read more about it :)
Bleu Oleander: is there a link to the whole program there?
Eliza Madrigal: says "clips" and not available on BBC player
Eliza Madrigal: but maybe with some searching :)
Bleu Oleander: the genetic component was very interesting
Zen Arado: 's current display-name is "Zen".
Eliza Madrigal: in terms of individual needs?
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)
Bleu Oleander: hi Zen :)
Zen Arado: Hi all
Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: some who have a certain gene don't benifit at all from aerobic exercise
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...it does not work for me either, but probably making a search we can find more information
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Zen :-)
Bleu Oleander: http://video.pbs.org/video/2364989581/
Bleu Oleander: better link
Eliza Madrigal: so people may feel down on themselves for not responding to a program and it just be a matter of right fit
Bleu Oleander: exactly
Eliza Madrigal: someone suggested the same to me regarding vegetarianism... that for some whose ancestors ate less meat it may be an easier jump
Bleu Oleander: so personalized exercise is the next step
Eliza Madrigal: thanks Bleu
Bleu Oleander: yw
Xirana Oximoxi: Thanks Bleu !
--BELL--
Zen Arado: That's a British TV programme that I watched a month or two ago but I wasn't very impressed with it
Bleu Oleander: really, why?
Bleu Oleander: I thought it was pretty fascinating
Zen Arado: I cant remember I would have to watch it again
Eliza Madrigal: I know one barrier for me is that I equate exercise with being social, mostly
Bleu Oleander: social, as in sports?
Eliza Madrigal: so the times I've been most consistent were when I had a workout friend, or activity, yes
Eliza Madrigal: not just to be in a group but to be mirroring I guess
Bleu Oleander: ah yes ok it does help to have a buddy
Bleu Oleander: being outdoors really helps me
Xirana Oximoxi: I think it's easy if you do with someone...it may be a way to encourage one each other when lazy :)
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Bleu Oleander: and seems is better for you also
Eliza Madrigal nods.... well when I became ill years ago so much was discouraged... guess I became too shy of the sun and in Miami that is a bit of an issue :)
Bleu Oleander: indeed
Bleu Oleander: here too
Zen Arado: I guess I am biased against exercise because it never did me any good
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bleu Oleander: do you all mind if I change our environment?
Eliza Madrigal: not at all, although I love the clear sky
Xirana Oximoxi: no :-)) it's fun to change :)
Zen Arado: :-)
Eliza Madrigal: the obstacle of the sun, I took too far, though
Eliza Madrigal: there are mornings, evenings, etc.... but I let them go by
Xirana Oximoxi: you can not be under the sun, Eliza, if I may ask?
Eliza Madrigal: Ohhhhh you got the proportions just right with this one Bleu
Eliza Madrigal nods Xiri... I was diagnosed with Lupus many years ago
Xirana Oximoxi: I love this one... it's refreshing:)
Zen Arado: this one is really nice
Eliza Madrigal: though the blood work clears at times so to be honest I am doubtful of the diagnoses now
Bleu Oleander: yes I like this one too
Xirana Oximoxi: is it difficult to make the dividing lines desapear, Bleu?
Zen Arado: we are programmed to like lakes and water I think
Bleu Oleander: easy Xiri
Bleu Oleander: I use photoshop elements
Zen Arado: do you do this with one photograph?
Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: well the moss at the top is another photo
Zen Arado: Just repeating it
Bleu Oleander: yes
Zen Arado: I see
Bleu Oleander: and the floor another
Eliza Madrigal: feels cushy :)
Xirana Oximoxi: it looks perfect:)
Bleu Oleander: i'll show you another
Xirana Oximoxi: I'll read a bout Lupus Eliza... I don't know about it :)
Eliza Madrigal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgPJ2Uk6_nI <---really beautiful videos (there is a part 2)
Eliza Madrigal: basically it is a hyper active immune system Xiri that sometimes friendly fires :)
Xirana Oximoxi: ok :-) Thanks for explaining:)
Eliza Madrigal: this one is fascinating
Xirana Oximoxi: this is warmer
Bleu Oleander: this from a photo I took
Xirana Oximoxi: more intimate feeling
Bleu Oleander: photo of shadows on a cement wall
Eliza Madrigal: feels like an idea incubation room
Zen Arado: it could be a forest fire :-)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: we better run
Eliza Madrigal: lol
Bleu Oleander: feels warm
Bleu Oleander: lol
Eliza Madrigal: that's one way of getting excercise
Bleu Oleander: haha
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...or a bright sunset too
Bleu Oleander: Xiri and Zen, some of your paintings would look wonderful
Eliza Madrigal nods!
Zen Arado: I wonder if I can do that on my body shop elements program
Xirana Oximoxi: does the foto have to be very 'big' ? in Mb?
Zen Arado: it's quite old
Zen Arado: photo shop I mean
Bleu Oleander: I use either 1024 or 512 photos
Bleu Oleander: vary the repeats
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: elements is the program I use
Xirana Oximoxi: very nice too...and different:)
Xirana Oximoxi: oops, sorry
Zen Arado: mine is version 6
Zen Arado: I can probably do it in paint shop pro
Bleu Oleander: yes
Xirana Oximoxi: I usually use Gimp
Eliza Madrigal: really like this one
Bleu Oleander: yes me too
Xirana Oximoxi: not sure if it is possible to do it
Eliza Madrigal: feels like it could be a building in a space station
Xirana Oximoxi: yes<:)
Zen Arado: yes it feels peaceful too
Bleu Oleander: its a photo of one of my Art of Being projects
Bleu Oleander: look close and you can see faces
Zen Arado: I cant see any faces
Xirana Oximoxi: me either:) ..I can see the cushions of the pavilion..the circle but noone
Bleu Oleander: gave you each one to play with
Bleu Oleander: just edit the face you want with any image
Zen Arado: Okay thanks bleu
Bleu Oleander: and set the installation numbers to 64, 40, 103.175
Eliza Madrigal: somehow this setting needed a bubble
Xirana Oximoxi: :)) no gravity here :))
Eliza Madrigal: :)))
Bleu Oleander: hehe
Zen Arado: This idea would be good for a dance floor
Zen Arado: You can create the surrounds for the dance floor as well
Xirana Oximoxi: yes:)
Zen Arado: We'll have to get Sunji working on this :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: yes:))
Eliza Madrigal: we'll see how changing setting works tomorrow... if at 1pm it helps to encourage easy settling into quieter session
Zen Arado: We could all go out and take photographs of our own environment to show others
Bleu Oleander: this is an example of a photo before the seamless is applied
Eliza Madrigal: nice idea Zen
Bleu Oleander: yes I love that idea Zen
Zen Arado: So you could be in Northern Ireland for a session
Eliza Madrigal: "applying the seamless" what a great phrase
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...that's what happens to me when I put it in a prim
Xirana Oximoxi: the lines of the repreated foto are seen
Eliza Madrigal: ouch
Xirana Oximoxi: ohhh wonderful :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes bring that one back
Bleu Oleander: my dogs love this one lol
Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe
Zen Arado: Good for their teeth :-)
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Zen Arado: Is that fair on today Eliza
Zen Arado: ?
Bleu Oleander: anyway you get the idea
