The Guardian for this meeting was Yaku.
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey qt
Qt Core: Hi Yaku
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey qt
Yakuzza Lethecus: lots of cherryblossoms on the sim
Qt Core: that's good as in rl they are already gone
Qt Core: i heard that some 5 km from where i live in a newly rebuilt area they made a little hill full of cherry trees, almost japanese style... but it was too late, maybe i have to put it down on my calendar for next year
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: 's current display-name is "Bleu".
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey bleu
Bleu Oleander: hi Yaku, Qt :)
Qt Core: Hi Bleu
Qt Core: i once followed on the web a guy livin in Okinawa, they had their cherry blossoms as early as in february
Qt Core: as in early february
Yakuzza Lethecus: not sure about the klimatic differences due to the sea but it´s the same latitude as egypt
Bleu Oleander: brb
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye for now
Qt Core: Hi WOl
Wol Euler: hello qt, yaku
Wol Euler: sorry I'm late
Yakuzza Lethecus: np
Bleu Oleander: 's current display-name is "Bleu".
Wol Euler: hello bleu
Qt Core: wb Bleu
Bleu Oleander: hiya
Yakuzza Lethecus: wol: have you been to japan during sakura ?
Wol Euler: sakura = cherry blossoms?
Yakuzza Lethecus: jep
Wol Euler: no, only in autumn for the changing of the leaves
Wol Euler: late november
Yakuzza Lethecus: just been thinking of it today du to to cherryblossom trees here on the sim
Wol Euler smiles.
Qt Core: today and yesterday night i failed at avoing any sight of the Expo pavillion on tv/web (to not spoil my visits) but as i saw them i could not notice that it is the nearest thing to SL i've ever saw in RL
Bleu Oleander: what expo is that?
--BELL--
Wol Euler: :)
Qt Core: (as i live less than 15 km from the where it is happening and as i'm fighting to get my tickets it is quite my main thought in these days)
Qt Core: www.expo2015.org, Bleu
Bleu Oleander: ty!
Wol Euler: what, do you *still* have no season ticket?
Qt Core: i asked for mine some two week ago, no results yet
Wol Euler: amazing
Wol Euler: I wonder whether Aph knows about it? She'd love the "gelati festival"
Qt Core: after several call to the phone lines and a couple mail to a couple different mailbox (the only one that responded was postmaster telling me the mailbox was full...)
Qt Core: icecream will be sold by Grom there, one of the best chain around
Bleu Oleander: Gormley's piece in Florence looks interesting ... I really like his work
Wol Euler nods.
Bleu Oleander: http://uk.blouinartinfo.com/news/sto...n-in-florence#
Wol Euler: aaaaaaaaaaaaaand the bell is broken again. Damn and blast.
Qt Core: do any of you use an old style watch, with hands, numbers and the little date near the 3 ?
Wol Euler: yes!
Wol Euler: actually no numbers, come to think of it, but 11 markings plus the date
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: use my cell phone more than a watch for time these days :)
Wol Euler: that seems much less convenient to me
Wol Euler: my phone is always in my pocket, inaccessible while sitting, and has to be prodded into life
Bleu Oleander: I'm not a big time watcher so works for me when I need to know the time :)
Qt Core: me too, but as i finally (ok, a pair years ago) i found a cheap one with all the 12 numbers i sometimes wear it
Qt Core: and lately i'm wondering how much time i can't see the date as one of the three hands is over it ?
Qt Core: it depends on how many hands the watch has (two or three) and their size, obviously
Wol Euler blushes.
Wol Euler: oops
Wol Euler: that should have been a nod
Wol Euler: gesture fail.
Bleu Oleander: :)
Qt Core: i did a quick estimate and it said about 20% of the time! but if feels too much even if it is not so far from how many times i notice it when watching the time
Qt Core: (and i know that all this topic seems a little OCD)
Wol Euler: that seems too high to me, unless either the date is tiny or the hands are broad
Wol Euler: I wonder schools teach estimation these days? (thinking of what I just did)
Qt Core: still too much (even if they are broad in my watch)
Qt Core: don't think (and never had it explained to me at school)
Wol Euler: I'm pretty sure that we had it "unofficially" because the teacher was bored that afternoon
Wol Euler: physics class
Wol Euler: the concept of getting a fast answer that is "good enough"
Wol Euler: rather than a slower but more accurate one
Wol Euler: if you don't need accuracy, fast and sloppy is good enough
Qt Core: and err on the wide side if you need to know if something will resist/support you ;-)
Wol Euler: right
Wol Euler: it's a kind of mental self-defense skill and is worth learning for that reason alone
Wol Euler: "is this number in a newspaper report valid?"
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: have a nice weekend all ... don't forget guardian mtg tomorrow :)
Wol Euler: right :)
Bleu Oleander: bye for now
Wol Euler: goodnight, bleu, take care
Yakuzza Lethecus: thx bleu
Yakuzza Lethecus: good night
Yakuzza Lethecus: newsreport, like this week with nepal
Yakuzza Lethecus: they started with a 100
Wol Euler: wb qt
Yakuzza Lethecus: wb qt
Qt Core: ty
Yakuzza Lethecus: just updating numbers of casualtys even tho it was almost clear they just can´t have numbers but ppl want them
Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: nepal ?
Wol Euler: [14:02] Yaku (yakuzza.lethecus): newsreport, like this week with nepal [14:02] Yaku (yakuzza.lethecus): they started with a 100
Wol Euler: you may have missed that
Qt Core: yes
Qt Core: little nice gestures: the nepal artisans that were here to build Nela pavillion at Expo run home and left the pavillion unfinished
Qt Core: italian artisans finished it for them free
Wol Euler smiles.
Yakuzza Lethecus: i got to sleep a little, good night you two
Wol Euler: goodnight! take care
Wol Euler: hugs to teh family
Qt Core: 'night yaku
Qt Core: i better start the sleeping process too as i have a few things to do before it
Wol Euler: heheh
Wol Euler: goodnight, qt, take care
Qt Core: goodnight wol
