The Guardian for this meeting was Eliza Madrigal. The comments are by Eliza Madrigal.

    Qt Core: Hi Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Qt :)
Eliza Madrigal: Quite the crowd today :)
    Qt Core: ;-)

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: hope all is OK with Bruce
Qt Core: hoping a good thing to do ;-)
Qt Core: (when it does not go beyond and become daydreaming)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: when someone who is pretty regular about things lets them slip it is noticeable :)
    Qt Core: yes

Qt Core: is the guardian meeting today or tomorrow ? (if there is one, i lost some bearing in my calendar today)
Eliza Madrigal: It is today - just sent a reminder email and am going to send a notice soon
Eliza Madrigal: Did you see the email sent to the group, about the working group meeting and all that?
Eliza Madrigal: guardian nomination in there too :)
Qt Core: yes, but had no time to read the log, only the mail
Eliza Madrigal: ah, I probably scared people by saying it would take a while to read

Qt Core: probably, i planned to read it today, but i spent from 2am to 5p, in the ER/hospital
    Eliza Madrigal: oh dear
Eliza Madrigal: is everything okay with you and loved ones?
Qt Core: not really, my sister got hospitalized for some infection that showed itself with so much pain for her (and she has a very hi pain tolerance level)
    Eliza Madrigal: :(
Eliza Madrigal: sorry to hear that - hope they were able to help at the ER?
Qt Core: yes, but it all went very slow, i'm used to 9 hours stay (almost every time it was 9 hours), today it lasted at least 15
    Eliza Madrigal: goodness
Eliza Madrigal: what kinds of things do you and your family do to recharge?
    Qt Core: just sleep ;-)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Qt Core: on some level it was a good sign when at 5am i was told some examination was not needed enough to awake/call someone and could wait 9am, on the other hand we lost 4 hours
    Eliza Madrigal nods... hospital layover
Eliza Madrigal: very draining, and usually cold
Eliza Madrigal: but it is good that you support each other

    --BELL--

Qt Core: there aren't many other option as she is disabled and my mother is getting old
Eliza Madrigal: well, you'd be surprised maybe by how little support some families are to one another
Eliza Madrigal: anyway, finding the bright spots

Qt Core: i amused myself drawing parallels from the hospital workers and the cast of the old ER tv-series ;-) noticed that the rl ones are a little uglier ;-)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
Eliza Madrigal: I never watched the show but, in general that seems to be true
Eliza Madrigal: having one's features zeroed in on tends to make beauty a skill
Qt Core: i had and sometimes still have a passion for the medical series
    Eliza Madrigal: any others?
Eliza Madrigal: Wasn't Alex Kingston in it?
Qt Core: (even if they are becoming more gross each season)
Qt Core: yes, one of my favorite
Eliza Madrigal: I love her for Doctor Who
    Qt Core: that too
Eliza Madrigal: think she attended Royal Drama Academy
Eliza Madrigal: I've not been really drawn to medical shows, although I watched the first season of Greys Anatomy
Qt Core: making several stupid jokes about royal and Kingston in my head
    Eliza Madrigal: oh?
Qt Core: royal, king, stone, and variation of it
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eliza Madrigal: I'm a little draggy today... attended a wake last night but had few connections there... was around 5 hrs and a bit of emotion absorption
Qt Core: an ER isn't an happy place too
    Eliza Madrigal: for sure
Eliza Madrigal: the wake was, in many ways, a beautiful experience, the way people who hate each other let it all go in the face of need and sorrow
Eliza Madrigal: decades of arguments gone in a flash
Qt Core: that would be nice, especially of true and not a mask as it is "required" by society
Eliza Madrigal: I was there only as emotional support for a friend afraid to encounter family she hadn't seen nor talked to in a long time and was on bad terms with
Eliza Madrigal: she expected some awful scene but was instantly embraced
    Qt Core: that's good

    --BELL--

    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: it was a "thin place"
    Eliza Madrigal: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/11/tr...orld.html?_r=0

Eliza Madrigal: the article is about travel, and sacred spots, but there are thin places we don't choose I think
Qt Core: ahh, getting it now
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: not really places for hope but recognition

Qt Core: thinking if the same place can be thin in some moment and tick in others (like a road on peak and non peak hours, but then it is probably our own attitude that make the place or moment thin)

Eliza Madrigal nods thoughtfully... very good point
Eliza Madrigal: thinness might be cultivated perhaps
Eliza Madrigal: there was another article this morn
ing (that was from 2+ years ago) . This one was about ritual, and seeing the ordinary in a sacred context:  http://www.onbeing.org/blog/ritual-i...in-action/7487
Eliza Madrigal: the takeaway quote was that ritual is poetry in action
Eliza Madrigal: which expressed something i've been trying to put my finger on for a long time
Eliza Madrigal: something beyond individual 'belief systems'
Eliza Madrigal: ritual can cultivate thin places.... even something simple like coming here and enduring moments when there isn't much to say

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi San :)
    Santoshima Resident: greetings :)
    Qt Core: Hi San
Santoshima Resident: hello to you both :)
Eliza Madrigal: has been just Qt and I today, talking a little about thin places and just sharing company
Qt Core: like using a planer on reality
    Santoshima Resident: yes ~
    Santoshima Resident: please continue
Eliza Madrigal: a planer on reality?
    Santoshima Resident: woodworking term
    Eliza Madrigal: ah, yes
Qt Core: removing little slices from a wood pieces
    Eliza Madrigal: beautiful
    Eliza Madrigal: slivering off

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Xiri :)
    Santoshima Resident: hello Xir
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Eliza, San, QT :)

    --BELL--

    Santoshima Resident: brb, tea needed
Eliza Madrigal: I'm going to stop the log and start it again for guardian session

Qt Core: remind me about this video https://youtu.be/LgsDWb0orSQ

THANK YOU, Eliza! I was all set to host, but ten minutes before the session started, my farmer arrived (ALWAYS without prior notice) - and talked all the oxygen out of the room for the next two hours (so I also had to miss the Guardian session.) I really needed to discuss some farm matters with him. Thank you very much for subbing and posting. -- Bruce edited 15:16, 3 May 2015

consider this perhaps ... our sense of vision and our deepest thought are conditioned by our interaction with light ... light gives us the thinness ... our thin spaces are in our minds, reflecting the light of our experiences. in that sense even Disney world can give us thin perceptions.
