The Guardian for this meeting was Bruce Mowbray. The comments are by Bruce Mowbray.
Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Bloger.
ElanVitalo Resident: Heya, Bloger.
ElanVitalo Resident: Bye, Bloger.
Bruce Mowbray: What was that? Two seconds?
ElanVitalo Resident: Something like that, yes -- actually, 1.572835934 seconds.
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Qt.
Qt Core: Hi, Bruce
ElanVitalo Resident: Hi, Qt.
Bruce Mowbray: How is the World Expo going?
Qt Core: good, I've been there two times already
ElanVitalo Resident: Yayyy! That's great!
Qt Core: it was a fight both for the expo tickets and for the public transport ones ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Can you tell us about any of the things you especially liked?
Qt Core: the almost out of world feeling I got in the "main road", the smell of wood (most of the pavilions are made with some if not only wood)
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh!
ElanVitalo Resident: Bruce's typist lives in a forest, you know, so the smell of the woods is always around us.
Bruce Mowbray: and he also lives on a farm, so there are also other smells as well.
Bruce Mowbray: Did you attend any exhibits that were especially memorable for you?
Qt Core: only one, at the EU pavilion, today, a animation of the love story of a farmer and a ecology system scientist
Bruce Mowbray: hmmm.
ElanVitalo Resident: If I remember correctly, the central theme of the Expo is "food"?
Qt Core: yes, (the gran of the scientist had a bakery ;-)
Bruce Mowbray nods.
ElanVitalo Resident: Well, you know, that bakery's wheat has to come from somewhere....
Bruce Mowbray: I wonder if Elan knows that there are at least two kinds of wheat - - - for different kinds of baking.
Qt Core: yes, and the scientist noticed how the river around the farms needed repairs to withstand the climate changes...
Bruce Mowbray: (the wheat that is used for courser bread, for example, is different from the wheat that is used for pastries.)
ElanVitalo Resident: ahhh! Good to hear that climate change is being thought about and represented.
Bruce Mowbray: I don't know when I have seen an entire culture in denial (America) so intensely as they seem to be about the issue of climate change.
ElanVitalo Resident: Just wait till half of Florida and half of Manhattan are under water -- before the middle of the century.
Qt Core: (and Venezia even earlier)
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Mick!
Qt Core: Hi Mick
ElanVitalo Resident: Hi, Mick.
Mickorod Renard: Hi Folks
Bruce Mowbray: Qt has been telling us about his adventures at the World Expo in Milan.
Mickorod Renard: cool
--BELL--
Bruce Mowbray: Indeed, his photographs are really good.
Bruce Mowbray: https://picasaweb.google.com/110476264901979978228/Expo2015Mission1
ElanVitalo Resident: I'm afraid I can't get used to the new randomness of the drops...
ElanVitalo Resident: My CPU just wasn't built for randomness, I guess.
Qt Core: one of things I really want to see is the Tree of Life by night, with all the light show
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I can see your (daytime) photo of that " tree"....
Mickorod Renard: thank you for the link, very nice photos
ElanVitalo Resident: Yes, they are.
Mickorod Renard: I love the light too -- often these expos are cluttered
ElanVitalo Resident: Did you buy a season-long ticket, or do you have to buy a new ticket every time you go to the Expo?
Qt Core: at least one pavilion is made only in wood and with no nails, 17000 pieces or so just stuck together
Bruce Mowbray: Wow.
Qt Core: (I bought the season long ticket)
ElanVitalo Resident: Great.
Bruce Mowbray: and I understand there is a corn field?
ElanVitalo Resident chuckles to himself about people going to Milan to see a corn field, when Bruce's typist is surrounded by them!
Qt Core: there was a little one in city centre and now there is another, bigger and in real earth a couple km away, just near the new "skyscrapers" were built
Bruce Mowbray: Ahhh!
Bruce Mowbray: I find that city folk sometimes don't realize where grains, vegetables, and dairy products come from.
Qt Core: between quotes as for American standard they are quite low
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh!
Qt Core: i visited that area too a month ago: https://picasaweb.google.com/110476264901979978228/InMilanLikeATourist8
ElanVitalo Resident: If Bruce's typist's corn is not at least a foot or two over his head, he considers that a bad year.
Mickorod Renard: he he
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh! loves the vertical gardens.
Bruce Mowbray: Are those buildings permanent?
Mickorod Renard: they are impressive buildings, qt
Qt Core: yes, not part of the expo site, just part of the city renovation
Bruce Mowbray: very impressive, indeed!
Bruce Mowbray: Ahhh, I see.
ElanVitalo Resident: How lovely to have trees growing on your balcony!
Qt Core: when there is the green grass area that is the wheat field
ElanVitalo Resident: ahhh! the wheat field . . . Sorry, I thought it was a corn field.
ElanVitalo Resident: (maybe there are two fields -- one for wheat and one for corn.)
Qt Core: to be honest i forgot, but probably corn, as it was like the other one that was corn
Bruce Mowbray nods.
Bruce Mowbray: afk for sec...
Mickorod Renard: could I just ask a quickie,, is there a guardian meet at 2?
Bruce Mowbray: (not that I know of....)
Qt Core: don't know, but i haven't seen an email telling there would be one
Mickorod Renard: ok great,, Wol was asking
Bruce Mowbray: (haven't received any notice of it yet.)
Mickorod Renard: ok,,I have said that we don't know of one
--BELL--
Mickorod Renard: :)
ElanVitalo Resident: good answer.
ElanVitalo Resident: but if people start showing up here, I will leave in deference to the guardians (of which I am not one.)
Mickorod Renard: sorry to interrupt the chat on the expo
Bruce Mowbray: np.
Bruce Mowbray: your question was a good one... I usually forget that the Guardian meetings are held right after this session.
Mickorod Renard: me too
ElanVitalo Resident: Will you be able to attend the Expo, Mick?
Mickorod Renard: I was so annoyed the other week that I missed your synchronicity chat, Bruce
Mickorod Renard: how long is the expo on for?
Qt Core: it ends 31/10
Bruce Mowbray: well, you could have contributed a lot to that discussion, Mick... I know that because of your contributions to our I Ching group.
Mickorod Renard: ahh ok,,well, no plans to see it but I may pass by during that time
Bruce Mowbray: the whole I Ching is based on the concept of synchronicity, of course.
Mickorod Renard: yes
Mickorod Renard: I had promised I would make it
ElanVitalo notes that Mick is a world traveler - par excellence!
Mickorod Renard: I feel a let down to myself
Mickorod Renard: :(
Bruce Mowbray: oh, please don't feel that way... We had a good general discussion, and I think that for the most part people enjoyed it, although I do wish you had been able to come.
Mickorod Renard: also I know Ara would have liked it too,, she has said she is quite into it at the mo
ElanVitalo Resident makes note that so many humans seem so busy.
Mickorod Renard: my life is so upside down at the mom
ElanVitalo Resident: oh dear.
ElanVitalo Resident: Living upside down would be difficult, I can imagine.
Mickorod Renard: alls ok,, but complex
Mickorod Renard: he he
Bruce Mowbray: Stop being so literal about everything, Elan.
ElanVitalo Resident: oh, you mean Mick doesn't actually live upside-down?
Bruce Mowbray: It's an expression.
Mickorod Renard: grins
ElanVitalo Resident: OK.. sry.
Bruce Mowbray: You have been traveling so much, though, Mick, I can surely understand how you might feel like that.
Mickorod Renard: maybe we could have a follow up session one day?
Bruce Mowbray: Great idea! How about you leading it?
Mickorod Renard: I have been back home for a few weeks now,, but i seem to be looking after a grandaughter alot
ElanVitalo Resident: ahhh.
Mickorod Renard: I don't know about leading anything,, I am a sort of follower.. but I could try,, one day
Bruce Mowbray: I'm sure you would do it well...
Mickorod Renard: I am just wading through Pistis Sophia...and am starting to wonder how that will fit in with all the other things I do
ElanVitalo Resident: What is Pistis Sophia -- a book?
Mickorod Renard: there is a book called after it
Bruce Mowbray: I know that Pistis means "faith" - or something close to that.
Mickorod Renard: which I am reading
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh!
Qt Core: is it this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pistis_Sophia ?
ElanVitalo Resident: so, if I'm not being too literal now, the book's title means faith in wisdom? or, perhaps, the wisdom of faith?
Mickorod Renard: yes, that's it
ElanVitalo Resident: ahhh!
Bruce Mowbray: Not too shabby for a robot, Elan.
Mickorod Renard: I am reading one by a chap called Meade I think
ElanVitalo Resident: the drink?
Mickorod Renard: anyway,, its a bit heavy
ElanVitalo Resident: fermented honey?
Mickorod Renard: he he
Mickorod Renard: but like most things I seem to do they slot together
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh!
Bruce Mowbray: Well, as long as you integrate them, that sounds good to me.
Bruce Mowbray: and might even be an example of synchronicity.
Mickorod Renard: that would be interesting
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Bruce Mowbray: I find that when I'm really focused on something, many other things in my environment reflect that focus...
Mickorod Renard: i seem to recall when doing the I Ching that I got caught up in cycles
--BELL--
ElanVitalo Resident: Experiment: concentrate on the color yellow (or any other color) for a minute or so with your eyes closed, then open your eyes. . . you'll see yellow things all over the place.
Bruce Mowbray: I am going to have to depart now, good people (and good robot).
Bruce Mowbray: Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Mickorod Renard: ok Bruce,, nice chatting
Mickorod Renard: bye
Qt Core: bye Bruce
Mickorod Renard: I should go now too QT..i have guests here at home and I may start to be noticed,, he he
ElanVitalo Resident: me too, Bruce needs someone to help him scrape up dinner.
Mickorod Renard: but nice to see you again
ElanVitalo Resident: good to see you again too. have a fine weekend!
Mickorod Renard: ok,,c u guys,,take care
Mickorod Renard: bye QT,,be well
