Adams Rubble: Nice to see you :)
Xirana Oximoxi: is the Sunday inspiring for you?
Xirana Oximoxi: Nice to see you too :)
Adams Rubble: I have been thinking about our discussion about silence last week
Xirana Oximoxi: have you found something special about silence?
Adams Rubble: sometimes our brains are working too hard
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes
Adams Rubble: good to quiet it down a bit
Xirana Oximoxi: very important to be able to slow our brains.. if possible
Adams Rubble: they need to learn a thing or two about being quiet :)
Xirana Oximoxi: yes :) I suppose there are techniques too...like practicing yoga...but to be in a quiet envirnment I am sure it helps
    Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: maybe sometimes it is enough to say "be quiet" :)
    Adams Rubble: look around
Xirana Oximoxi: When I go walking, sometimes I notice that I am not paying attention to what happens outside...I walk still thinking of something that bothers me...so yes... go to ell myself to stop and look around
    Adams Rubble: YES!
Adams Rubble: thinking hard about something and missing the birds, and trees, and everything else going on
    Xirana Oximoxi: exactly
Adams Rubble: I did that yesterday :)
Xirana Oximoxi: so, it must be a consciuos behaviour, a consciuos action ... to oblige oneself to stop and disconnect for a while
Adams Rubble: yes, to be mindful :)
Xirana Oximoxi: similar to the bell here :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble thinking about how annoying I would be if I carried a bell on my walks :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe yes:)... no need to carry the bell...but to remember it
    Adams Rubble nods
Xirana Oximoxi: do you do long walkings every day?
Adams Rubble: no, just on Saturdays
Adams Rubble: maybe more often in a couple of weeks
Xirana Oximoxi: ok...hen even more important to enjoy it:)
    Xirana Oximoxi: then
    Adams Rubble: yes
Xirana Oximoxi: I have seen some wonderful photos you share time to time on FB :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: so I know you don't miss a wonderful sight :)
    Adams Rubble: wellll....
    --BELL--
Adams Rubble: Photography is my outlet
    Adams Rubble: makes me look
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... maybe similar to when I paint a landscape
Adams Rubble: I was thinking of your drawing and painting
Xirana Oximoxi: I do sketches outside...and I like them more than when I try to paint a landspae in my studio...they are more fresh
Adams Rubble: yes, drawings are nice that way
Adams Rubble: always a surprise when one comes across drawings of an old master one does not particularly care for
Adams Rubble: In my case the drawings of Watteau
    Adams Rubble: just wonderfully fresh
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...I used to look for books of skecthes...I have some of Millet, and also of the French painters of Fontainebleu...
    Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: I am not familar with the drawings of Primatticcio and Rossi
    Xirana Oximoxi: me either :)
Adams Rubble: ohhhh, the FRENCh painters. whoops
Adams Rubble: not failiar with those either, obviously :)
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... I have made a mistake 'Fontainebleau? ..I think... precursors of Impressionists
    Adams Rubble: ahhh
Adams Rubble: are you thinking of Theodore Rousseau?
Adams Rubble: I think he did paitning of Fontainebleu
    Adams Rubble: painting
Adams Rubble: we can delight in the freshness :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I am wrong again..it is l'ëcole de Barbizon' ... sorry...l'autre école is older
Xirana Oximoxi: Corot is one of the painters I like very much
    Adams Rubble: oh yes
Adams Rubble: I do not know his drawings though
    Adams Rubble: wonderfully feathery trees
Xirana Oximoxi: yes.... I forge aboutt dates and names... but I usually remmeber the paintings I like more
Adams Rubble: much better than the names :)
Xirana Oximoxi: well...I should remember both :)
    --BELL--
Adams Rubble: I have been thinking about worrying less about what I don't know or have forgotten and just enjoy the process. This is still a work in progress though
Xirana Oximoxi: I agree that to enjoy the process is tthe best way...and also to probebly remember it better too
    Adams Rubble: hehe
    Xirana Oximoxi: probably
Xirana Oximoxi: I always think I have very bad memory...that's why I started to learn german ...a work in progres too :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: It is good to challenge ourselves
Adams Rubble: I have been thinking of learning Spanish
Xirana Oximoxi: and today I have read and article that says that people that speaks more languages do have more chances to avoid dementia later....
Adams Rubble: yes, I have read that challenging our brains to do things helps
Adams Rubble: to work on difficult problems
Adams Rubble does not want to learn more math
    Xirana Oximoxi: http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20150528-how-to-learn-30-languages
Adams Rubble: 30 is too many for me. hehe
Xirana Oximoxi: well...it may also help to learn in a quiet and enjoying way...not always trying to challenge ourselves
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe yes....for me too:))
Adams Rubble: Pema is amazing with languages
Xirana Oximoxi: how many languages does he speak?
Adams Rubble: I am not sure exactly but he is fluent in many
    Xirana Oximoxi: that's great
Xirana Oximoxi: it is also easier if you have been living in different countries
    Adams Rubble nods
Xirana Oximoxi: the best way to learn...being immersed
    Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: we Americans only immersed in English
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...English is the universal language actually
Adams Rubble: fortunately for us :)
Adams Rubble: we'll all end up with dementia :)
Adams Rubble: That may explain our politics
    Xirana Oximoxi: noooo....:))
Xirana Oximoxi: and if it is related to politics... I guess here they are also monolingual :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: sorry to bring up politics :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I have been reading about dementia because my mother is very old and has started to forget everything... it is sad...
Adams Rubble: ohhh, I am sorry to hear that
Adams Rubble: my grandmother went through that
Xirana Oximoxi: but..I think I must be ready to deal with it, as it will go worse
    --BELL--
Adams Rubble: the medical people are working hard on this problem
Xirana Oximoxi: it makes one think about life and quality of life ...and death
Adams Rubble: yes. our bodies change but our minds stay the same; other times the body is there but it seems a different person inside
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... but it is very important to try to understand each person identity to understand their behaviour too..even if they seem another person
    Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: it can be hard when they are cklose to you
    Adams Rubble: close
Adams Rubble: we wear out one way or the other
Adams Rubble: our guarantee expired long ago
    Adams Rubble: warantee
Xirana Oximoxi: yes, it is hard. I've read this book of Graham Sokes..."And still the music plays'... 20 stories that help to understand a lot the problem for people affected and theirs families
    Xirana Oximoxi: Graham Stokes
Adams Rubble: Your inner strength will be a blessing to you
Xirana Oximoxi: I will go now, thanks for the nice chat Adams :)
