Darren Islar: hey Xira
Xirana Oximoxi: hello leaping Panther
Darren Islar: I think there is a party coming up looking at the balloons ;)
Xirana Oximoxi: seems the decoration is ready for the party
Xirana Oximoxi: yes:)
Darren Islar: yep
Xirana Oximoxi: I was looking for some help to read a poem...I never speak English, so I am sure my pronountiation will be awful
Darren Islar: what kind of help?
Darren Islar: for the pronounciation?
Xirana Oximoxi: yes, exactly
Xirana Oximoxi: but I still have time to prepare it...
Darren Islar: I do speak it a lot, but it makes my girlffriend smile a lot, I don't think I'll be a good tutore :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe ok:) I
Xirana Oximoxi: no worries..I am sure I will find some native speakers of English here :)
Darren Islar: there are enough around
Xirana Oximoxi: yes :)
Darren Islar: it takes some practice I found out. It's speaking and correcting and at some moment that almost goes unconsciously
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...my problem is that I usually type
Darren Islar: yes
Darren Islar: I understand
Xirana Oximoxi: with voice I do French and also did German...but most people or plces I go don't use voice
Darren Islar: true
Xirana Oximoxi: typing is also easier for me..I have a little more time to think about how to say things
Darren Islar: yes, I found out that to be useful as well
Darren Islar: I guess typing is protecting the anonimity
Xirana Oximoxi: yes..and I respect it..
Darren Islar: yes
Xirana Oximoxi: usually PaB conversations are typing...except Yaku's happy time
Darren Islar: hehe
Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Darren Islar: still on the Friday?
Xirana Oximoxi: no, I think he don't do it at the moment
Darren Islar: ok
Darren Islar: he likes to use voice

--BELL--

Xirana Oximoxi: yes, me too..
Xirana Oximoxi: we have been chatting for almost two years at Gopethe Institut..and when you get used to voice it's tiring to type all the time
Xirana Oximoxi: sorry
Darren Islar: very true
Darren Islar: it's also for recording purposes we are typing
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...it also depends on which topics we talk about... dayly matters better with voice...more profound conversations is good to read
Xirana Oximoxi: are good*
Darren Islar: it slows it down a bit as well, instead of people talking at one moment ... though with typing it's easy to get different threads on the same topic though
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...quite confusing sometimes :)
Darren Islar: yes
Darren Islar: besides English pronounciation ... any topic you like to discuss?
Xirana Oximoxi: not specially...but I was wondering if we will have more prepared sessions with topics or if we will continue as until now...depending on the moment
Xirana Oximoxi: I mean in the next new PaB :)
Bruce Mowbray: 's current display-name is "Bruce".
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Bruce :)
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Xir.
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Darren!
Darren Islar: since the amount of meetings has increased, I expect more topics
Darren Islar: hey Bruce :)
Darren Islar: but then everybody should come in time (looks at Bruce ;) )
Darren Islar: and Blub :)

Bruce Mowbray: I've been working hard on a painting (digital) - literally all day.
Bruce Mowbray: sry to be so late.
Xirana Oximoxi: I am learning to paint digitally
Bruce Mowbray: I'm just posting it on the web -- and maybe in a minute I'll have it up there for you to see.
Darren Islar: it's okay Bruce, we were just talking about whether something will change in the way we are going to do themeetings in PaB II
Xirana Oximoxi: amazing what one can do with a tablet
Qt Core: Hi all!
Darren Islar: oh .....
Xirana Oximoxi: hello QT
Darren Islar: hi QT
Bruce Mowbray: It's too big for me to upload to SL, so I'm posting it at my sebsite; just a sec, please continue with your chatting.
Darren Islar: I guess the topic is: will PaB 11 change in these meetings?
Xirana Oximoxi: I am not good at proposing topics, usually I don't feel prepared to discuss a lot of them, but I enjoy listening
Darren Islar: I am, but like to go with the flow
Darren Islar: and it's a good question
Darren Islar: I guess it depends on what we want
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...to go with the flow is also very good
Darren Islar: you should say it's up for discussion with so many things changing
Darren Islar: always good to look sometimes at what we are doing
Bruce Mowbray: [I got my composition up there. Would you care to see it?]
Darren Islar: yes Bruce

Bruce Mowbray: I am trying to copy the lighting style of Caravaggio.....
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...I agree...
Bruce Mowbray: http://hermitdog.com/poser/Caravaggi...tist_poser.png
Xirana Oximoxi: yes, Bruce, thanks:)
Bruce Mowbray: yw.
Darren Islar: interesting
Xirana Oximoxi: wow! it looks amazing Bruce

--BELL--

Bruce Mowbray: ty.
Bruce Mowbray: This is the first Caravaggio I've tried.
Xirana Oximoxi: I must go now....take care all and see you soon! :)
Bruce Mowbray: bye for now, Xir!
Qt Core: bye Xir
Darren Islar: By Xira
Darren Islar: it looks indeed amazing
Bruce Mowbray: Well, thanks very much, but that's why i was late to this session. I was putting the finishing touches on it.
Bruce Mowbray: Last night I watched a movie about Caravaggio, and I've been "channeling" him all day... sort of.
Bruce Mowbray: lovely balloons, btw.
Darren Islar: yes, they are Bleu's
Bruce Mowbray: Wasn't Caravggio from Milan, originally, i mean, Qt?
Qt Core: don't remember
Bruce Mowbray: i think so, but he had to keep on the move because he kept killing people and folks were chasing after him...
Qt Core: as to wikipedia, yes, he weas born on Milan in 1571
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, there it is.
Bruce Mowbray: eventually fled to Malta, I think.
Darren Islar: isthat the painter or the one painted?
Bruce Mowbray: and he died in 1610, I think it was.
Bruce Mowbray: Caravaggio is the artist.
Darren Islar: and a killer?
Bruce Mowbray: did some very innovative stuff....
Bruce Mowbray: yes, he killed at least three other men in brawals.
Bruce Mowbray: brawls*
Darren Islar: somehow I can't combine those two very well
Qt Core: got a death sentence for his first killing and kept moving to evade it
Bruce Mowbray: yeppers.
Bruce Mowbray: The painting i was trying to copy was his first John the Babtist.
Bruce Mowbray: Baptist* sry.
Bruce Mowbray: (I usually misspell that word. ha ha.)
Bruce Mowbray: The "one painted" didn't fare so well either, you know.
Bruce Mowbray: sort of lost his head in the deal, as it were.
Darren Islar: erm ....?
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Darren Islar: this shows my lack in art-knowledge
Bruce Mowbray: "I will grant you every/any wish, Salome," says King Herod.
Bruce Mowbray: your*
Bruce Mowbray: and her wish (since she had danced so well before the king) was to have the head of John the Baptist on a platter,
Bruce Mowbray: and she got it.
Bruce Mowbray: but my painting is BEFORE any of that, of course.
Darren Islar: ah, that John the Baptisit ... got it
Bruce Mowbray: oh dear, did I chase away Qt?
Bruce Mowbray: here he is,
Bruce Mowbray: wb, Qt!
Darren Islar: wb QT
Qt Core: ty

Bruce Mowbray: Did someone look up Caravaggio in the wikipedia?
Darren Islar: it was more my lack of English :)
Darren Islar: no
Bruce Mowbray: I can't recall whether he died in 1610 or in 1620 -- I think it was 1610.
Qt Core: yes
Bruce Mowbray listens.
Qt Core: 10
Bruce Mowbray: kk, that's what i thought.
Bruce Mowbray: so, he was a contemporary or both michelangelo and Shapespeare.
Bruce Mowbray: of*
Bruce Mowbray: His first name was, in fact, Michelangelo.
Bruce Mowbray: Shakespeare* sry for all these misspellings.
Bruce Mowbray: Caravaggio actually invented several new painging techniques....
Darren Islar: Shapespeares is actually a nice misspelling :)
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Qt Core: (and Galileo too)
Bruce Mowbray: I thought so too, but not sure the Bard would appreciate it.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, Galileo, too.
Bruce Mowbray: forgot him.
Bruce Mowbray: Caravaggio used a pin-hole camera,
Bruce Mowbray: never drew preliminary sketches,
Bruce Mowbray: and drew everything in a mirror image.
Bruce Mowbray: I learned that this morning,
Darren Islar: ah ... that guy
Bruce Mowbray: before beginning the digital thing i showed you earlier.
Darren Islar: though it is suspected from Vermeer as well
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I wanted to learn as much about him as i could before I began "channeling him," as it were.

--BELL--

Qt Core: in out media friendly times we assume that (fampus) people know about each other, wasn't so so much time ago wondering when italians first dioscovered Shakespeare
Qt Core: out=our
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, Vermeer's work is quite similar, and he used mirrors in his paintings, as you are no doubt aware.
Bruce Mowbray: [shhh, Bruce!]
Bruce Mowbray: But Caravaggio didn't have mirrors in his paintings -- he used mirrors to see the pin-hole images and then painted what he saw in the mirrors. (This is all a theory, of course.)
Darren Islar: 90 seconds can be long sometimes :)
Bruce Mowbray: nods, yeppers.
Bruce Mowbray: I guess I'm been building up my energies.
Bruce Mowbray: sry to be so talkative today,
Darren Islar: yes, it's all suspicion, it's based on their way of painting and how extraordinary some details were
Bruce Mowbray: yes.
Qt Core: i sometimes find interesting comparing wiki pages from the italian and english edition
Bruce Mowbray: and apparently none of the "original sketches" survived - so some art theorists think that there were none.
Darren Islar: are their differences?
Bruce Mowbray listens.
Qt Core: some people has enough fame to have a page in one but not in the other
Darren Islar: :)
Qt Core: first/bigges difference, for example in the Caravaggio page
Darren Islar: yeah, I guess some topics are different ... true
Bruce Mowbray listens carefully.
Qt Core: is the lack of the pic of the 1000.000 lire note that had his face in it
Qt Core: ops 100,000
Bruce Mowbray: I'll bet there's a LOT on Caravaggio in the Italian version.
Bruce Mowbray: wow, didn't know that!
Darren Islar: in the American Wikipedia ?
Qt Core: in the italian, not in the english
Bruce Mowbray: One of the theories about his brawling is that he absorbed mercury from his paints -- that he mixed himself -- and that poisoned his nervous system.
Darren Islar: I sometimes think the English version is more complete than the local Dutch version
Bruce Mowbray: I'll bet that the local Dutch version has a LOT on Vermeer!
Qt Core: yes, it often is, just look at the number of articles
Darren Islar: yes, I take it there is
Bruce Mowbray: and on Rembrandt, too!
Bruce Mowbray: There is some question about who got to chiarosciro first, Rembrandt or Caravaggio,
Bruce Mowbray: but I think they may have invented it separately - but at the same time.
Darren Islar: and on the one who was copying Vermeers way of painting
Bruce Mowbray: (like the theory of evolution).
Darren Islar: I guess the time was ripe for something like that
Bruce Mowbray: Do you think folks in Italy would have had access to Vermeers, though?
Darren Islar: yes
Darren Islar: in that time? I don't know
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, the times were ripe for all sorts of discoveries and inventions, and brawling.
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Qt Core: the italian wiki says it started with Cimabue and Giotto ;-)
Darren Islar: hehe
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh, very good point, Qt.
Bruce Mowbray: The first "modern painters," as it were.
Qt Core: the better the color become the more realistic the could make the lightning
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh, had not thought of that. excellent point.
Darren Islar: yes, but it was amazing what they did with it
Bruce Mowbray: Caravaggio actually mixed lightning bugs into his paints.
Bruce Mowbray: so give them more luminescence, I suppose.
Bruce Mowbray: to give*
Darren Islar: hmmm, nice experiment :)
Bruce Mowbray: Sry about that.
Bruce Mowbray: oh dear. I have dominated this entire conversation - and now i have to go.
Bruce Mowbray: But, I did learn many new things from Qt's wikipedia.
Bruce Mowbray: THANKS!
Darren Islar: ok Bruce,see you
Qt Core: bye Bruce!
Bruce Mowbray thinks: Lovely balloons....
Darren Islar: I'm afraid I have a time curfew as well today
Qt Core: wikipedia, it's so good it became an evil time sink
--BELL--
Qt Core: np leaping, i'm pretty sleepy too
Darren Islar: we take Wikipedia to be the truth
Darren Islar: nice to have seen you again
Darren Islar: see you :)
Qt Core: bye
