The Guardian for this meeting was Gaya Ethaniel. The comments are by Gaya Ethaniel.

    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Eliza :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Gaya :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Quiet this morning?
Gaya Ethaniel: Seems that way :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: How are you?
Eliza Madrigal: Well, thanks... woke early this morning so feel a bit more on track than I have been feeling :)
    Eliza Madrigal: You?
    Gaya Ethaniel: Nice :)
Gaya Ethaniel: I'm well thanks, weather's been quite strange last few days.
    Eliza Madrigal: how so?
Gaya Ethaniel: Hard to explain ... I see many people feeling low.
Eliza Madrigal: interesting... in London or do you see a wider pattern?

    --BELL--

Gaya Ethaniel: Just here ... around London :)
Eliza Madrigal: are you very sensitive to weather personally?
Gaya Ethaniel: I think we all are ... to a various extent.
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Sharon :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sharon :))
Eliza Madrigal: I can say that I'm generally happy when there is a breeze about...
Eliza Madrigal: especially a cool one
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Great outfit Sharon, and thank you for the viewer tip
SophiaSharon Larnia: :) thank you, its amazing what's in my inventory that I don't wear
Eliza Madrigal: I used to think that people were making excuses when they cited the weather as causing them to feel one way or another...
SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry to come late, I lost track of time this morning
Eliza Madrigal: I think I notice the subtlteties more now though
    Gaya Ethaniel: Interesting :)
Gaya Ethaniel: np Sharon, nice to see you anytime :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Bleu :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu :))
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Bleu :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi everyone :)
Eliza Madrigal: I was just about to ask Gaya if she saw us puzzling over who she was, at the end of the guardian session...
Eliza Madrigal: in the cube :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Gaya Ethaniel: So weather affects you more these days? How do you work with it Eliza?
Gaya Ethaniel will go and see the cube after :)
Eliza Madrigal: Well, I'm not sure that it affects me more... but I notice it more
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah
Eliza Madrigal: It rains every afternoon here... nearly. I take it as a time to switch gears... make tea, etc
Bleu Oleander: I actually notice weather less these days
    Eliza Madrigal: begin to settle
    SophiaSharon Larnia: every afternoon? wow
    Gaya Ethaniel: Interesting :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes, tropical conditions :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: predictable, likea time to take a break :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Do you know how that came about Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: I think it's a self defense move
Gaya Ethaniel: I also like hot drinks when it rains as well :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: eh, really?
Eliza Madrigal: yes, nice when we can find little touchstones like that.. but hard not to be thrown when they aren't reliable too... so... can only pay attention and try to be adaptable I guess?
Bleu Oleander: so many days over 100 .... after a while you just start to ignore it
    Eliza Madrigal: oooh, yes
    Eliza Madrigal relates :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah ...
Eliza Madrigal: but that is your excuse for having wonderful adobe houses :))
Bleu Oleander: becomes the wallpaper of Phoenix
SophiaSharon Larnia: I'm sure I am lost :)
Bleu Oleander: don't have one of those wonderful adobe houses though :)
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
Eliza Madrigal: does it get cool in phoenix at night, Bleu? Like in California?
    Bleu Oleander: eventually
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Bleu Oleander: it was 84 early this am
Gaya Ethaniel: Is it humid or dry heat?
    Bleu Oleander: dry heat
Eliza Madrigal: yes, that's the difference between us Bleu
SophiaSharon Larnia: does everyone take a siesta in the afternoon? :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eliza Madrigal: your hair prob looks much better than mine around now
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: hahah Sharon. Oh, if that were the case
Bleu Oleander: ah siesta .... would like the time to take one
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Eliza Madrigal: though I do believe in naps
Eliza Madrigal: just haven't seen one in a while, ahha
Gaya Ethaniel: Was it Lawrence of Arabia ... he likes deserts because of dry heat of desert cleansing everything.
    Bleu Oleander: relates to Lawrence
Eliza Madrigal: mm yes I think so
SophiaSharon Larnia: baked clean under the sun
Gaya Ethaniel: I've only experienced humid heat so far ... would be interesting to be in a desert environment.
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Gaya Ethaniel: What are people in your area like Bleu?
    Bleu Oleander: big question Gaya
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Bleu Oleander: lots of ways one could catagorize
Bleu Oleander: very few are from here
Bleu Oleander: most from mid west
Gaya Ethaniel: Wondering how the climate affects them ...
SophiaSharon Larnia: its like that where my sister lives in california
Bleu Oleander: air conditioning saved Phoenix
SophiaSharon Larnia: very few grew up there
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Eliza Madrigal: here as well. People are amazed that I was born here
Bleu Oleander: over 4 million live here now
Eliza Madrigal: much less that my mother was, and grandfather too

    --BELL--

    Bleu Oleander: that's nice Eliza
Bleu Oleander: must give you a strong sense of place
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Alexis :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Alexis :)
    Alexis Sommerfeld: Namaste!
Eliza Madrigal: Well, it is funny. Miami has changed around me constantly...
Eliza Madrigal: and so much development and traffic, and closings off from areas that used to be free...
    Bleu Oleander: same with Phoenix
Eliza Madrigal: that I'm not sure 'sense of place' would be applicable
    Bleu Oleander: hi Alexis
    Eliza Madrigal: Namaste Alexis :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi druth :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello druth :)
Eliza Madrigal: Not to complain, because it is still a very beautiful place to live
SophiaSharon Larnia: a friend once showed me pictures of his trip to arizona, the cliffs were striated with sediment, and really looked like the patterns in american indian jewlery.
    druth Vlodovic: hey all
    Bleu Oleander: hi druth
Eliza Madrigal: and I enjoy that we have so many overlapping cultures
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Druth :)
Bleu Oleander: land is beautiful in Arizona
    Bleu Oleander: many varied landscapes
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh, wow Sharon...
SophiaSharon Larnia: like they were forming themselves out of the environment
    Eliza Madrigal pictures
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes Eliza, I bet Florida is a smorgesborg of cultures :D
    Gaya Ethaniel: What's smorgesborg?
Alexis Sommerfeld: So is Louisiana, where I live. French, German, Nova Scotia.
SophiaSharon Larnia: smorgasborg* sorry an meal overflowing with dishes
    Gaya Ethaniel: heh :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: grins
Eliza Madrigal: It really is. Like in most places there tend to be areas of concentration here and there, but in events and festivals, one really experiences so much...
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes it is Alexis :)
Gaya Ethaniel: I don't understand why some Americans don't think so much of own country ... sounds like really an interesting diverse place to me.
SophiaSharon Larnia: (still misspelled it *sighs* ) :)
Eliza Madrigal: Many places are diverse Gaya, but many aren't....
    Alexis Sommerfeld: I fully agree.
Eliza Madrigal: I suppose that is true of most places, but the feeling in America at times is that we 'feel ourselves' to be large compared to the rest of the world
Eliza Madrigal: which really isn't true... in terms of influence, etc... in terms of stance, of listening, etc
Eliza Madrigal: putting ourselves in others' shoes
Gaya Ethaniel: idk America is a large country in every sense :)
Eliza Madrigal: not to rant, but we have a short memory, perhaps being a new country
SophiaSharon Larnia: short memory and limited sight, imho
Alexis Sommerfeld: Very true. That is America's biggest problem - it's short attention span.
Alexis Sommerfeld: We are a consumer culture on a collision course with economic and social failure.
Eliza Madrigal: there are a few political movements right now that give me pause for concern and I think 'how easily we forget'... we don't give things time to change, etc
Gaya Ethaniel: Short memory can be such a blessing at times ...
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods at Alexis
Eliza Madrigal: agree Gaya, ours are problems of privelege in many ways still
SophiaSharon Larnia: short memory would be a blessing, if some lessons were remembered
    Eliza Madrigal: nods
Alexis Sommerfeld: Those who forget history, are doomed to relive it.
SophiaSharon Larnia: history has an annoying way of repeating itself
Eliza Madrigal: or the taste was remembered at least
Gaya Ethaniel: idk I think you are too hard on yourselves :P
Eliza Madrigal: I hear a kind of 'demonization of other' tone in some of our political movements right now...
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, ugly
Eliza Madrigal: it is a kind of weather
druth Vlodovic: just to be contradictory
Gaya Ethaniel: Well my impression of America/Americans are largely influenced by people I know here though :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
druth Vlodovic: there's lots of positive there as well,
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
Alexis Sommerfeld: Gaya, most Americans are loathe to admit our problems.
Eliza Madrigal smiles and hugs Gaya
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eliza Madrigal: there is perhaps a kind of flexibility in America though...

    --BELL--

Alexis Sommerfeld: What is the 90 seconds of silence about?
Eliza Madrigal: which maybe is stronger in diverse areas, that may be your point Gaya re short memories?
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Gaya Ethaniel: oopps forgot to give you the notecard Alexis ... one sec.
Eliza Madrigal: In the pause we stop to 'drop what we have to see what we are'...
Eliza Madrigal: I read another guardian quote it the other day as 'giving yourself a break from judgemental thinking'
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Gaya Ethaniel: Normally 9 seconds but in SL meetings, we try 90 seconds together :)
Bleu Oleander: The people here have "Play as Being practice" in common That's a kind of awareness exercise, a little like a very short meditation
Eliza Madrigal: makes me think of freeze tag
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
Gaya Ethaniel: Welcoming the judgmental mind ...
    Alexis Sommerfeld: I see.
    Alexis Sommerfeld smiles.
Gaya Ethaniel: But not indulging ...
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: I think about how long I've been coming to this group, play as being, and still feel myself getting caught up in topics like the one we were discussing.
Eliza Madrigal: :) 'explore your doubts but don't take refuge there' was a line from forest practice...
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hmm
Eliza Madrigal: mmm, nods... feel the adrenaline a bit Sharon?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
    Eliza Madrigal: yes me too
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Ya
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Yakuzza :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Yaku :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Yaku :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning/afternoon everyone
    druth Vlodovic: hey 'kuzza
SophiaSharon Larnia: I'm releived to hear you say that, Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: It seems a progression though, not to avoid those conversations/ the adrenaline...
Eliza Madrigal: to pause with it :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Adrenaline sounds nice, give us some :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :D
Eliza Madrigal: well it is the worry...
SophiaSharon Larnia: its not the good kind, if there is such a thing
Eliza Madrigal: like my son worries. One day I said to him "Do you think I'd meditate so much if I didn't 'tend' to worry?"
Alexis Sommerfeld: Excuse me, friends, I have another function to attend.
Alexis Sommerfeld: Thank you for having me.
    Gaya Ethaniel: Bye Alexis :)
Eliza Madrigal: Nice that you came Alexis
    Eliza Madrigal: see you again
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Alexis, nice to see you :))
Gaya Ethaniel: Is it good or bad ...?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye alexis
    Bleu Oleander: bye Alexis
druth Vlodovic: I call it balance
Gaya Ethaniel: I'm sure adrenaline is adrenaline ... :P
druth Vlodovic: a bit of excitement, a bit of calm
Eliza Madrigal: back and forth, or somehow together?
SophiaSharon Larnia: the feeling opens you up to confronting sides of yourself that otherwise you would deny, that part is good
    Eliza Madrigal nods
SophiaSharon Larnia: but it does trigger a fight or flight reaction
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
    Eliza Madrigal: attachment or aversion
Gaya Ethaniel: Yes ... probably takes some practice not to react to it that way.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes, after a while, there seems to come a response naturally...
Eliza Madrigal: like calm arises from the situation that has the stress in it, or something...
Eliza Madrigal: sometimes 'quicker' than others :)))
Gaya Ethaniel: I guess what I was saying is that we can start by not wincing when adrenaline visits us :)
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Gaya Ethaniel: I talk strange today lol
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Eliza Madrigal: must be the weather
SophiaSharon Larnia: :) i love how you talk Gaya lol
    SophiaSharon Larnia: any time
    Eliza Madrigal: me too
    Gaya Ethaniel: yeah possibly :)
Gaya Ethaniel: I'd like some adrenaline oomp lol
    SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
Gaya Ethaniel: Well the cube may do it :) Going to see ... nice seeing you all, have a good day!
Eliza Madrigal: I'm going to leave you all with a favorite song...
    Eliza Madrigal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUg9RB1uhqM
    Gaya Ethaniel: ty :)
    Bleu Oleander: oh nice
Eliza Madrigal: You'll LOVE the cube Gaya :)
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks for the nice break guys.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :D
Bleu Oleander: is everyone working on their photos?
Eliza Madrigal: heheh.. sneaks out pretending not to have heard that question....
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: i have a sculpture with way too many prims but no picture yet :)
    Bleu Oleander: bye Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye eliza
Eliza Madrigal: I'm going to get up in the middle of the night sometime to play :)
    Bleu Oleander: great Sharon
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Gaya, bye Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye for now
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye gaya
Bleu Oleander: need to go too
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Blue :)
Bleu Oleander: bye for now :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: ok, bye everyone :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: I need to go too
    druth Vlodovic: bye
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Yakuzza and Druth
