Wol Euler was guardian for this session, a quiet and very pleasant conversation with Raffila.

Wol Euler: timezone appropriate greetings, Raffi :)
    Raffila Millgrove: hi Wol
Raffila Millgrove: i am sl time. makes it really easy
    Wol Euler: ah :)
Raffila Millgrove: you look like you just came from a fetish party!
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: trying on some stuff from my inventory. There's so much in there that I have forgotten about,
Wol Euler: had no idea what it looked like.
Raffila Millgrove: looks very good on you.
    Wol Euler smiles.
Raffila Millgrove: i really like the gloves.
    Wol Euler: thank you
Raffila Millgrove: gloves are very high quality..
Wol Euler: like discreet fighters' gloves, with the little knuckle pads
Raffila Millgrove: totally. i do not have any half that good.
Raffila Millgrove: i have a fetish party i go to once a week. tonite in fact. i ran out of outfits for it long ago.
    Wol Euler: ah :)
Wol Euler: um, I assume you mean SL?
Raffila Millgrove: yeah altho... i often go out rl to the dungeon too.. where people sometimes gear up. but they cannot do it half as fast or good as you can here.
    Wol Euler: sure :)
    Wol Euler: heheheeh
Wol Euler: and it costs a lot more too
Raffila Millgrove: you put that leather .. latex on.. you fall over from the heat of it. i am not mucn into it.
    Wol Euler: :)
Raffila Millgrove: as long as you wear black something you're 'in".
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: do you know the store AVid? calls itself gothic
Wol Euler: much of what you've seen me wearing is from there
Raffila Millgrove: no. is that were the outfit comes from?
Wol Euler: this is from the LM I gave you
Raffila Millgrove: oh. i am still getting used to this Viewer 3. i never know what's going on.
Raffila Millgrove: i didn't kow you gave me one. lol
Wol Euler: my tip: don't get used to it :/
Wol Euler: stick to Phoenix or Firestorm
Wol Euler: mesh functionality with a viewer that you can actually *use*
Raffila Millgrove: i stayed in viewer one.. all this time. til a couple weeks ago when i broke down and had to see mesh.
Wol Euler: firestorm is v1 style but shows mesh
Raffila Millgrove: since i was going ot have to learn a new one.. i tried 3.. it's ahundred times better than 2.. and you can set up to look like one.
Raffila Millgrove: no one has tried it.. who went to Phoenix. it's much different from 2. two was impossible.
    Wol Euler: agreed
Raffila Millgrove: it's still.. not very intuitve and i have a lot of bitches about it.. but it's worlds better than 2 was.
Wol Euler: v2 can only have been made by people who do not personally spend any time in SL
Raffila Millgrove: yeah. that was the biggest time and money waste in the history of SL
    Wol Euler: yep
Raffila Millgrove: at least 3.. isn't near as stupid.. but they have a long ways to go...
    Wol Euler: :)
Raffila Millgrove: they toss so much sensible organization that they had in one.

    --BELL--

Raffila Millgrove: profiles are must imposslbe i find. i loved the old ones.
Wol Euler: okay, I'll give you a vendor photo from a recent AVid outfit
    Raffila Millgrove: ok.
Raffila Millgrove: ooh that's very Gothy. i like those model avis.
    Wol Euler: there's the LM
    Raffila Millgrove: ty
Wol Euler: have a look, I think you'd like it

Raffila then returned the favour, giving me a link to a new store selling (only) mesh clohtes. Lovely stuff.

    Wol Euler: ooh, looks interesting
    Wol Euler: ty
Raffila Millgrove: accordint to my highly fashionista friends.. that store is THE ONE.. if you want mesh clothes.
Raffila Millgrove: and i saw stuff from there.. very very cool.
Wol Euler: I'm a bit wary of mesh for clothing because it can't be modified the way prims, even flexy, can
Wol Euler: you can stretch it uniformly but not distort it
Wol Euler: and my body shape is apparently so far from the norm that I have to tweak prims in every outfit I buy
Raffila Millgrove: this is true.. and i have same concerns.. but since i saw my friend who has a shape not much different from you in gorgeous stuff.. i think these guys are pretty good with it.
Wol Euler: but I'll certainly have a look
Wol Euler: ah :) that's encouraging
Wol Euler: ooh ooh ooh I know Claudia Jewel
Raffila Millgrove: also i don't know.. were you here when i was saying how amazing this sim is.. Spirit? Aphro ran over for a look adn agreed .. it's worth seeing.
Wol Euler: well, know of her. Have you seen her current art show?
    Wol Euler: definitely!
    Wol Euler: amazing work.
Raffila Millgrove: yeah .. well the sim.. i think you should fly.. to get up close and really interact.
Wol Euler: I've been meaning for days to go back and have another look
Raffila Millgrove: i am taking a friend tomorrow and wearing the free mesh avi they give you..so we can blend and photo ourselves.. inside it. as part of it.
    Wol Euler: right
    Wol Euler: a lovely touch
Raffila Millgrove: did you see Bryn Oh's stuff? i am crazy about it.. but she hasn't done anything new for awhile.
Wol Euler: yes, love Bryn Oh. So emotional
    Raffila Millgrove: yes.
Wol Euler: immersiva is open again, and she is working on another show
Raffila Millgrove: i am waiting for her new one. i always take long times.. take hours to walk them.
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: Daughter of Gears was a revelation to me
Raffila Millgrove: yes. that one.. was her best. she's not going to top it.
Raffila Millgrove: like her best book. her masterpiece.
Wol Euler: it was a significant moment in my ... presence in SL, let's say
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: god, I'm getting teary remembering it :)
Raffila Millgrove: yeah it was so sad. Mylene and I.. we read every word. we looked at it over and over. for days.
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: heheh, I wonder whether there's an analogy to music here, to bands' first albums being fantastic
Wol Euler: because they contain all the stuff they've been working on and thinking about for years and years
Wol Euler: and the second naturally disappoints because it doesn't have that many-year long prehistory :)
Raffila Millgrove: i guess it's true of all artists.. you hit one... big moment creatively.. and you cannot recapture.
    Wol Euler: or that :)
Raffila Millgrove: altho some.. they really do keep on surprising you again and again. that's something. to recreate yourself. and keep going .. keep growing.
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: I'm so glad that she is back in SL, I was very disappointed when the original funding for Immersiva blew up
Wol Euler: Dusan handled that badly, IMHO
Wol Euler: left her and others hanging, apparently he gave no warning at all to *anyone*
Raffila Millgrove: ah... well.. that's very SL ish.
    Raffila Millgrove: isn't it.
Raffila Millgrove: these sudden ... left hanging.. moments.
Wol Euler: true :) I suppose I expected more of him because he writes (wrote) about it so often and intensely
Raffila Millgrove: i have thought of leaving Sl..
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
Raffila Millgrove: and.. the idea of disappearing.. it's tempting. because to say goodbye to the nearest and dearest 200? i dunno.
    Wol Euler: heheh
Raffila Millgrove: i'd rather die suddenly too. i don't really want to say goodbyes. i hate them.
    Wol Euler: agreed on that
Raffila Millgrove: anything i had to say.. i really said it already and.. that's what the goodbyes are for.. to let the other guy say to you.. the goodbye.
Raffila Millgrove: it's like these people who don't want Anything of memorial.. and they leave all their friends and loved ones hanging out to dry.
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: no closure
Raffila Millgrove: i had a very dear friend do that.. and I was pissed at her,, because i wanted to hug her husband. i don't have any words. now.. i can't. my husband said.. well we should go over.
Wol Euler: you might not want to say goodbye to your friends, but they might well want to say it to you if they knew ...
Raffila Millgrove: and i said.. what? he opens the door. we hug him. and we're done? not going to work out well.
    Wol Euler: heheheheheh
Raffila Millgrove: hey i was fine not to say goodbye to her.. i said everything. i learn long ago. don't leave stuff unsaid.
    Wol Euler nods.

    --BELL--

Raffila Millgrove: it's the ones who are left.. you want to reach out to them. a casserole is not my idea of the "reach out"
Raffila Millgrove: that' why you probably should let the ones left.. decide what to do about your going.
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: that reminds me of a scene in a film. Do you know "Raising Waking Ned Devine"?
Wol Euler: irish film about winning the lottery :)
Raffila Millgrove: no. i have it on the list to see. but i don't think i did.
    Raffila Millgrove: no definately didn't.
    Wol Euler: you should :)
Wol Euler: I won't say what reminded me of it, because it's a pretty big spoiler, but it was a lovely film, highly recommended

    Pause for reflection.

Raffila Millgrove: these 1 am .. meets. they are very quiet. few people come. i like them.
    Wol Euler smiles and nods.
Wol Euler: interesting people turn up, by and large
Wol Euler: a few euros, mid-morning
Wol Euler: some west coasters, late evening
Wol Euler: and an occasional insomniac east coaster
    Wol Euler grins.
Raffila Millgrove: yeah. i 've always liked Sl at this time.
Raffila Millgrove: i like the quiet.
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: it reminds me of being in places built for large numbers of people, late at night, when there are few around
Wol Euler: train stations after midnight, airports too, hospitals even to some extent
Wol Euler: there's a kind of slowness in the air, in places which are usually hurried
Raffila Millgrove: yes. i wander thru my land.. and i fix this tree.. or move that blade of grass a half inch and watch the weather/sky... see how amazing the lighting is here.
    Wol Euler nods.
Raffila Millgrove: you are right about airports/hospitals big bustling places.. quiet at night. very apt comparison.
    Wol Euler smiles.
Raffila Millgrove: it's good to for shopping and hunts. i used to have incredible slow connect.. and going now.. no lag.
    Wol Euler: yep :)
Raffila Millgrove: you know the creator Baron.. (last name escaping me)
Raffila Millgrove: he made that famous organ and an incredible sim.
Wol Euler: ah, I think I know who you mean ...
Raffila Millgrove: right. well when he left. he sold off his whole inv.. in this garage sale.
Raffila Millgrove: unfinished stuff. 'lots" .. like at an auction Boxes of stuff.
Raffila Millgrove: for 50 linden. buy a big box of unknown stuff. with general description on it.
    Wol Euler: hehehehe
    Wol Euler: neat
Raffila Millgrove: amazing "stuff". like 25 carpets.
Raffila Millgrove: or.. everything to build a Romance castle/sim etc.
    Wol Euler nods.
Raffila Millgrove: strange plants/trees. rotundas. waterfalls.
Raffila Millgrove: amazing.. crammed into boxes for 50 linden each.
Raffila Millgrove: so my friend the builder and I went. and i had to strip off everything . we both we nearly naked.
    Wol Euler: yeah
Raffila Millgrove: wearing system hair. just zero on us.. cause the lag. was so unbearable. we couldn't buy anything unless we literally stripped to naked to do it.
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: the hair faires and such are usually like that too
Raffila Millgrove: the place was jammed with other builders like us.
Raffila Millgrove: yeah like the hair fair. but worse. the worst i have ever been in.
    Wol Euler: wow
Raffila Millgrove: cause they guy.. he had a disdain for.. low res textures. his sim.. heh. you had to stand on the edge and cam it. lol
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: which paradoxically makes it even harder to render! because you see more of the textures
Raffila Millgrove: well i loved him anyway. his stuff. every time i see his old organ.. i think of him.
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Raffila Millgrove: they had one of them.. in a huge church like... building in a Japanese fashion sim.. like a Shrine. i loved it.
Raffila Millgrove: kind of like a shrine to Baron's organ.. you could tell they loved the thing..
Raffila Millgrove: honoring it like that.
    Wol Euler smiles.

    --BELL--

Raffila Millgrove: well i just got a call from an Australian friend.. our mutual gf. is in some contest... she says to hurry over to vote now.
Raffila Millgrove: so i better hurry. she's a very dear person to me. i always come if she calls. been very sick.
Raffila Millgrove: so i see you later Wol. great visit!
Wol Euler: oh, right, yes you should
Wol Euler: thank you, raffi, I'm glad you came by.
    Raffila Millgrove: you too.
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: goodnight! enjoy the weeekned
Raffila Millgrove: ty. i gotta remember to see the movie... about lester
    Raffila Millgrove: Lester?
Wol Euler: the one I mentioned?
    Wol Euler: raising ned devine
    Wol Euler: ireland, lottery, funeral
Raffila Millgrove: oh i can look it up in the chat log. super. that's so handy!
    Raffila Millgrove: bye now.
    Wol Euler: yep :)
Wol Euler: wait a sec, I'll give you the IMDB link
    Wol Euler: *waking ned devine*
    Wol Euler: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0166396/
    Raffila Millgrove: got it. ty!
Wol Euler: but beware spoilers :(
