Wol Euler was guardian for this session.

    Wol Euler: good very-early-morning, cat
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Morning Wol :)
    Wol Euler: how's the day?
    Catrinamonblue Resident: joyous:)
    Wol Euler: oh good!
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: do you know why?
    Catrinamonblue Resident: a guy ;)
    Wol Euler: ah!
    Wol Euler: good for you.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Catrinamonblue Resident: not expected, not looked for but amazing and joyful
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: all the better, then.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: yes
Catrinamonblue Resident: and how is life for Wol?
    Wol Euler: muddling along
Wol Euler: on the global scale of things, still pretty good
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Wol Euler: but it's a struggle
Wol Euler: on the personal scale
    Catrinamonblue Resident: hugs
Wol Euler: I'm having attacks of "oh god, what's the point"
    Wol Euler: thank you
Catrinamonblue Resident: have been there too at times in my life
Catrinamonblue Resident: When one is in love one wants the whole world to feel love and joy
    Wol Euler smiles.

    --BELL--

Catrinamonblue Resident: though both of us have had colds so a bit of reality on the rose coloured glasses :)
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Wol Euler: well, I'm pleased for you.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: thank you :)
Catrinamonblue Resident: it has been amazing for me, he is sweet and loving and accepting of me as I am :)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Catrinamonblue Resident: I have been brutally honest with him and he survived that :)
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: that's good
    Catrinamonblue Resident: yes :)
    Wol Euler: good morning, hana
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Hi Hana :)
Hana Furlough: good morning, wol and cat
    Hana Furlough: and now qt!
Hana Furlough: wol, are you attired for oktoberfest?
    Wol Euler: hello qt
    Qt Core: Hi all
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Hi Qt :)
Wol Euler: yes, this is that :)
    Hana Furlough: how festive!
    Wol Euler: in modified form
Hana Furlough: looks better on you than it does on boys
Wol Euler: it's a version of the boys' garb, not what the girls usually wear
    Wol Euler: yep
    Wol Euler grins.
Qt Core: it would be good on everyone with a nice six pack ;-)
    Hana Furlough: haha, yes indeed
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Wol Euler: the RL Volksfest (our local beer party) nearly passed me by, were it not for the noise of the parades one particular afternoon I would have missed it entirely
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: the thing is, people who drink beer for three hours a night every night for two weeks - don't have six packs
Wol Euler: at least not at the end
Hana Furlough: ahh yes, this is true
Qt Core: even heavy SL use tend to do that to you
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: another reason why wireless computer-brain connections would be a good thing
Wol Euler: hmmm, I can see a few down-sides too
Wol Euler: the temptation to surf Facebook while driving would be disastrous
Qt Core: like the need to learn occlumency instead of firewalls ;-)
Catrinamonblue Resident: I would not like to be constantly plugged into work, is bad enough now with email on mobile phones
Wol Euler: ooh, there's a fine word.
Qt Core: (that is from Harry Potter universe, the art of not having your thoughts read by a legilimens (someone able to read other's thought))
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Hana Furlough: i see
Hana Furlough: had to look that one up
Wol Euler: "The ability to close off your mind from outsiders so that nobody knows what you're really up to or whose side you're on. Men have to train rigorously for this (Severus Snape and Harry Potter being examples of this), whereas women have it built into them naturally." URban Dictionary :)
    Wol Euler: me too
    Catrinamonblue Resident: smiles

    --BELL--

Qt Core: Harry Potter fan here (almost even more than a Star Trek one the difference is that i love the HP universe but i want to live in the Star Trek one
    Wol Euler nods.
Hana Furlough: i wonder why women's minds are supposed to be more opaque
Wol Euler: they aren't, it's just men mis-attributing their shallowness onto women's depth :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Hana Furlough: : )
    Hana Furlough: well-said wol!
    Wol Euler smiles modestly.
Qt Core: men have trouble understanding more than three things, food, sex and (watching) sports, averything else puzzle us ;-)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: laughs
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: men do seem to be more linear in their thought processes
Catrinamonblue Resident: one could say more logical
    Hana Furlough: how so?
Wol Euler: it's not necessarily logic, women are logical too but towards a different end.
Catrinamonblue Resident: to me they seem to analyze a little bit more
Qt Core: maybe more explicit, thinking that brute force, even on an abstract level, whuld solve things in the end ?
Hana Furlough: i don't really feel like men are more logical
Hana Furlough: men are completely incomprehensible to me when they get angry
Qt Core: but then there is the usual issue between (let say) genetics and ambient, is evident that men are phisically stronger, but how much of our macho attitude is learned ?
Catrinamonblue Resident: perhaps I had a poor choice in words
Hana Furlough: i wonder about that too, qt
    Wol Euler nods.
Hana Furlough: how much of that is society?
Wol Euler: quite a bit, I think, girls are scolded as little kids for things that boys are praised for
    Wol Euler: *still*
    Catrinamonblue Resident: nods
Qt Core: why do we have to not wear pink ? i remember reading somewhere that a few hundreds years ago men wore pink and women blue
    Hana Furlough: yes, it's true
Wol Euler: boys learn that it is OK to run around and shout and push people and take things
Wol Euler: some but not all develop beyond that
Wol Euler: few adults would seriously suggest to a girl that she punch a kid who was being mean to her, but boys hear that.
Catrinamonblue Resident: I do think we are trying to change that though
    Wol Euler: indeed
    Hana Furlough: i hope so!
Hana Furlough: although, looking at the summer in pop music, i am disappointed
    Catrinamonblue Resident: agreed
Wol Euler: it still slips out, though, in the unguarded moments of even relatively enlightened parents
Qt Core: i remember some strong kicks from girls ;-)
    Wol Euler: good :)
Hana Furlough: that is what is so bad, it's insidious
Hana Furlough: we are conditioned in these ways
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: on the other side women get angry when men aren't the old fashioned gentlemen ;-)
Wol Euler: I wonder though how much of the Miley Cyrus outrage was due to her Disney wholesome previuos fame?
Wol Euler: if she'd arrived out of nowhere as a complete unknown, doing that dance, probably nobody would have cared
Wol Euler: because she wasn't the first to do that on stage, not by many decades
    Hana Furlough: it's true
Hana Furlough: madonna has covered all that territory

    --BELL--

Catrinamonblue Resident: maybe it's a disappointment that the industry hasn't changed very much? Especially since world issues have changed very dramatically since Madonna
    Hana Furlough: yeah, that too
    Wol Euler: also true
Hana Furlough: i was also amazed at how very few people had any complaints about robin thicke's blurred lines
Hana Furlough: how is that song appropriate?
    Wol Euler: absolutely
Wol Euler: but he's a guy so it is okay
    Wol Euler snorts.
    Hana Furlough: right
Wol Euler: that's really what it is about
    Hana Furlough: oh yes
Wol Euler: women should not be allowed to own their sexuality
Hana Furlough: so instead, just let yourself be told by mr. thicke that "you're an animal"
Wol Euler: and you follow my orders
Hana Furlough: even if you don't want it
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: "let me liberate you by taking you"
Wol Euler: liberation as swapping one jailer for another. Bah.
Wol Euler: it's upsetting to me that such wonderful music has such objectionable lyrics :)
Wol Euler: I'd like to be able to enjoy the music
Hana Furlough: i know! that is the worst part!
    Hana Furlough: it's catchy
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
    Hana Furlough: and enjoyable
Hana Furlough: and it sounds very current
Hana Furlough: unfortunately the message is from some other century
    Wol Euler: yeah
Wol Euler: or this century in another culture, where women are owned objects
Wol Euler: and there are still plenty of those
    Catrinamonblue Resident: nods
Hana Furlough: anyway, it is interesting to think about
    Catrinamonblue Resident: yes
Qt Core: (not understanding the lyrics (as i usually o with song in english) i is nice both on the ears and the eyes ;-)
    Hana Furlough: : )
    Hana Furlough: you are lucky!
Wol Euler: agreed, if you can get past the lyrics it's a great song.
    Hana Furlough: it is
Hana Furlough: it'll make you want to dance
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Catrinamonblue Resident: I guess I'll have a listen, have avoided it because of all the hype
Wol Euler: there are some songs that benefit from being played on lousy low-fidelity equipment :)
Wol Euler: so that only the groove comes through
Qt Core: as i don't know the singers are there any chance it is an ironic hidden critics to that approach ? (doubting it)
Wol Euler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrMRrL3c6R0 <-- no images, just the words
Wol Euler: qt, I can't believe that

    --BELL--

Catrinamonblue Resident: not my style of music even if the lyrics were better
    Wol Euler smiles.
Hana Furlough: mr. thicke's defense of the song doesn't suggest irony, sadly
Hana Furlough: his defense was more along the ines of "we're all married men, so this is fine!"
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
Wol Euler: how is that different to "I have some black friends, so I'm allowed to say 'nigger'"?
Catrinamonblue Resident: really?? and just who is his audience does he think
Qt Core: so, what their wifes think ?
    Hana Furlough: lol, wol!
Hana Furlough: i know, qt, that is what i wanted to know
Hana Furlough: i'm guessing there probably aren't any blurred lines with the mrs.
    Wol Euler: yeah
    Hana Furlough: but who knows
Qt Core: do their wifes think ?
    Hana Furlough: hopefully not
Hana Furlough: (blurred lines with wives that is)
Qt Core: any bet the wifes wrote the lyrics ?
Hana Furlough: it was strange how many women rose to defend that song
Hana Furlough: lighten up, you overly serious feminists!
    Wol Euler: stockholm syndrome :)
    Hana Furlough: you got it
Catrinamonblue Resident: slips away :) going to snuggle back into bed for a bit ;)
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: good for you
    Qt Core: bye Cat
    Catrinamonblue Resident: morning all
    Wol Euler: enjoy the day
    Catrinamonblue Resident: ty Wol :)
    Hana Furlough: bye cat!
Qt Core: i need to go, bye all and have fun
Wol Euler: bye qt, enjoy the weekend
    Hana Furlough: bye qt!
Wol Euler: anyway, so much for reprehensible yet pleasurable music :)
Hana Furlough: yes, it makes it all the worse
Hana Furlough: it's imperfect, but there is this...
    Hana Furlough: http://www.policymic.com/articles/56...se-it-deserves
    Wol Euler reads
Hana Furlough: (that may be inappropriate for the log)

    --BELL--

    Wol Euler giggles.
    Hana Furlough: hehehe
    Wol Euler: very good
    Wol Euler: well deserved
Hana Furlough: haha, yes it's satisfying
Hana Furlough: so what are you up to this weekend?
Wol Euler: the usual: laundry, reading, shopping, cooking, naps ...
Wol Euler: down time, in other words
    Wol Euler: and you`
    Wol Euler: ?
    Hana Furlough: nice
Hana Furlough: yes, enjoy your relaxation time
Hana Furlough: i did mostly the same today
Hana Furlough: tomorrow, a bit of work and headed on a short river cruise
    Wol Euler: nice
Wol Euler: I hope you hve good weather for it
Hana Furlough: thank you, me too
