Wol Euler: wow, there's a heavy storm on its way to us. You won't get the winds but it might be rainy even south of hte Alps
Wol Euler: Weather report is calling it an "Orkan" i.e. hurricane. that is probably somewhat exaggerated
Qt Core: ok, at the moment i have two umbrellas in my car, i'm ready ;-)

Wol Euler: this is apparently going to be the last nice day for a while, after that storm 7°C and rain for the rest of the week
Qt Core: it seems we are getting only a few clouds near the alps as there is high pressure and good weather in the mediterranean pushing it
Wol Euler: lucky :)
Qt Core: yesterday i caught me making a quite cynical observation (even by my standards): People greet strangers more than usual in hospitals (especially in the lifts)... it seems as they are trying to gain good karma to spend on their ill relatives/friends
Qt Core: only after a while i realized it may only be compassion/empathy

Wol Euler: perhaps being in the presence of illness does remind us to be better people - if only for that hour
Wol Euler: saying to ourselves "no need to add to that person's burden of unhappiness"
Wol Euler: when the fact is that most people are carrying some such burden most of the time
Qt Core: i find myself almost grumpier than usual there (i'm not a complete savage and greet back if they greet me) but i greet and thanks the nurses and doctors i meet (i've notice that i do that more on my way out)

Wol Euler: but Schwyzerdeutsch is the hardest in absolute terms

Qt Core: due to the different history and dominations, italian dialects are very different and speakers would not understand each other

Wol Euler: Lombardo sounds most neutral to me, because I learned to speak a little Italian in Milan (many years ago now)
Qt Core: before publishing the defining novel of italian literature (I promessi sposi / The bethroted) Manzoni went to Firenze to "sciacquare i panni in Arno"/"to clean the clothes in the Arno" (Arno being the river in Firenze)
