The Guardian for this meeting was Aphrodite Macbain. The comments are by Aphrodite Macbain.
Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Bruce ol’ buddy!
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Aph ol' buddy!
Aphrodite Macbain: Back from Chicago?
Bruce Mowbray: Yepper, got back a week ago Friday.
Bruce Mowbray: Totally forgot about Wednesday's OF, though.
Aphrodite Macbain: It was nice.
Bruce Mowbray: So sorry I forgot.
Aphrodite Macbain: I've been in surgery and on my back for the past 4 days
Bruce Mowbray: OH DEAR!
Aphrodite Macbain: and am slowly recovering
Bruce Mowbray: Are you feeling better now?
Aphrodite Macbain: yes
Bruce Mowbray: Things take time.
Bruce Mowbray: So, you were still able to go to the OF meeting?
Aphrodite Macbain: I can’t use my stomach muscles which I realize is a bit of a challenge
Bruce Mowbray: for sure!
Aphrodite Macbain: yes I went to hospital on Thursday morning
Bruce Mowbray: kk, then you were able to go to OF.
Aphrodite Macbain: but I haven't had a chance to see your blog and photographs yet
Bruce Mowbray: My days are all mixed around - ever since I went to Chicago.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, just photos of the trip.
Aphrodite Macbain: was it wonderful?
Bruce Mowbray: The best trip to Chicago for moi, so far.
Bruce Mowbray: REALLY a fine week.
Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Zon.
Zon Kwan: heya
Aphrodite Macbain: tell us more about Chicago Bruce- I'd love to hear
Bruce Mowbray: Well, the only day that it didn’t rain was Monday -
Bruce Mowbray: so I took the train up to Wilmette to see the Baha'i Temple.
Aphrodite Macbain: well u were inside anyway, no?
Bruce Mowbray: amazingly beautiful edifice.
Aphrodite Macbain: oh?
Bruce Mowbray: I was inside museums and such for the rest of the days...
Bruce Mowbray: Excellent museums in Chicago...
Aphrodite Macbain: Did you find your favorite work of art?
Bruce Mowbray: plus, the Milwaukee Art Museum is a fine as any I've ever seen.
Bruce Mowbray: I did indeed. Just a sec, please....
Bruce Mowbray: Here's a photo of my typist sitting with it:
Bruce Mowbray: http://hermitdog.com/chicago_2013/mi...dnesday108.jpg
Aphrodite Macbain: looking
Aphrodite Macbain: was it as nice in the flesh as it was in reproduction?
Bruce Mowbray: Actually much nicer... and larger!
Aphrodite Macbain: that you sitting in front of it?
Bruce Mowbray: Well, that's my typist, yes.
Aphrodite Macbain: :)
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: you asked someone to take the picture- good
Bruce Mowbray: When he first arrived, a docent was talking about it to a group of six year olds.
Aphrodite Macbain: Hello Wol
Wol Euler: evening all!
Aphrodite Macbain: You look fantastic
Zon Kwan: hi wol
Bruce Mowbray: http://hermitdog.com/chicago_2013/mi...dnesday061.jpg
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Wol!
Aphrodite Macbain: Bruce is showing us pix of his trip to Chicago
Wol Euler: ah! ty
Bruce Mowbray: Have you seen the Baha'i Temple, Wol?
Bruce Mowbray: http://hermitdog.com/chicago_2013/Monday05.JPG
Wol Euler: wow! no, I'd never seen that before. Amazing.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, incredibly beautiful place.
Aphrodite Macbain: very impressive
Bruce Mowbray: I know you've seen the "Bean," though.
Bruce Mowbray: http://hermitdog.com/chicago_2013/pa...day_park05.JPG
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: also amazing, but differently so
Bruce Mowbray: rather different from the Temple, yes.
Zon Kwan: where is this bean?
Bruce Mowbray: The Bean is in Millennium Park in downtown Chicago.
Zon Kwan: looks cool
Aphrodite Macbain: Bean there done that
Aphrodite Macbain: sorry
Zon Kwan: lol
Wol Euler: it's an astonishing thing, utterly smooth and featureless
Wol Euler: inexplicable
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, and unless you're watching carefully, you can walk right into it....
Aphrodite Macbain: How did you get about Bruce? By cab?
Wol Euler: yes! I saw that actually :)
Bruce Mowbray: I get about by subway -- taxis are too expensive,
Bruce Mowbray: and my typist is a cheapskate.
Wol Euler smiles.
Bruce Mowbray: Inside the bean: http://hermitdog.com/chicago_2013/pa...day_park09.JPG
Aphrodite Macbain: well it means you now have no problem with dizziness?
Bruce Mowbray: Well, Bruce has no problem with it,
Aphrodite Macbain: :)
Bruce Mowbray: but my typist has a whole lot of problem with it....
Bruce Mowbray: In fact, he almost fell over taking the previous photo.
Wol Euler sighs.
Aphrodite Macbain: You don’t need someone to push you in a wheel chair any more?
Aphrodite Macbain: aww
Zon Kwan: waves
Bruce Mowbray: nope, didn't even take the chair this time.
Aphrodite Macbain: bye Zon thanks for dropping by
Aphrodite Macbain: great
Bruce Mowbray: Bye for now, Zon.
Bruce Mowbray: The Milwaukee Art Museum is also a mobile sculpture:
Bruce Mowbray: http://hermitdog.com/chicago_2013/mi...dnesday056.JPG
Bruce Mowbray: Those "wings" are raised and lowered twice daily.
Aphrodite Macbain: amazing
Aphrodite Macbain: looks
Bruce Mowbray: (That's where Bouguereau's "Homer and His Guide" is hanging -- and has been hanging since 1884.
Aphrodite Macbain: wow- does it fly too?
Bruce Mowbray: Not yet.
Bruce Mowbray: Here's a shot of the wings almost completely down:
Aphrodite Macbain: Is there a function to the two wings?
Bruce Mowbray: http://hermitdog.com/chicago_2013/mi...dnesday162.jpg
Bruce Mowbray: No particular function -- just for "art's sake," I guess.
Wol Euler: advertising :)is the function
Aphrodite Macbain: I like the kids in the picture…
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Aph! Did I show you my set up for the Original Face group? there in that same museum?
Aphrodite Macbain: Do you know this museum Wol?
Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Aphrodite Macbain: set up Bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: http://hermitdog.com/chicago_2013/mi...dnesday100.JPG
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I got set up to attend OF, but my laptop's battery hibernated.
Aphrodite Macbain: ah yes
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Wol Euler: awwwww
Aphrodite Macbain: nice... too bad it didn't work. :((
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I'd been counting on an electric plug,
Aphrodite Macbain: You must have looked impressive to the passersby
Bruce Mowbray: but couldn't find one.
Aphrodite Macbain: all that technology and no plug!! The wings could be raised but your connection couldn't be made!
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Bruce Mowbray wonders where Aggers is today....
Aphrodite Macbain: It's Aggers birthday on Tuesday too
Aphrodite Macbain: we are twins
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I attended the first part of Darren's meditation, anyway.
Wol Euler smiles.
Aphrodite Macbain: we can meditate today as well - with Berti
Bruce Mowbray: YES, Aph's birthday and Agger's birthday are on the same day!
Wol Euler nods.
Aphrodite Macbain: I am going to celebrate lying down
Aphrodite Macbain: eating cake off my chest
Wol Euler: hehhe
Bruce Mowbray: ouch!
Wol Euler: good for you
Wol Euler: (if voluntary)
Aphrodite Macbain: (I had surgery on Thursday Wol)
Aphrodite Macbain: It gets very boring
Aphrodite Macbain: Do you feel odd when you return home Bruce?
Aphrodite Macbain: everything is so quiet
Bruce Mowbray: odd? How do you mean?
Bruce Mowbray: oh that!
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, my typist drinks in the silence.
Wol Euler: oh. sorry, I didn’t know
Aphrodite Macbain: It often takes me a few days to adjust
Aphrodite Macbain: np Wol
Bruce Mowbray: But then, when he's in cities he always wears ear plugs.
Aphrodite Macbain: amazing what they can do to one's body and then turn you out after one night...
Wol Euler nods.
Aphrodite Macbain: good to have good friends...
Bruce Mowbray: I do hope you are relying on your friends, Aph.
Aphrodite Macbain: Funny- I also feel odd returning to 2nd life after a 3 day absence
Aphrodite Macbain: as much as is fair Bruce
Aphrodite Macbain: I do a lot of reading and sleeping
Aphrodite Macbain: but the weather is soooo beautiful. Blue skies, yellow leaves
Aphrodite Macbain: outside my window
Bruce Mowbray: soak up the beauty, Aph.
Bruce Mowbray: Beauty heals.
Aphrodite Macbain: indeed it does Bruce
Aphrodite Macbain: Do they celebrate Halloween in Germany Wol?
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: I'd say "yes but"
Aphrodite Macbain: but?
Wol Euler: Allerheiligen exists, but the business of kids going from door to door getting candy is not really done
Wol Euler: partly because almost everyone lives in apartments
Aphrodite Macbain: no trick or treating?
Wol Euler: nope
Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Aphrodite Macbain: Trick or Treating is the best way for my building to get to know its community
Aphrodite Macbain: we decorate the lobby and hand out treats
Aphrodite Macbain: and meet the kids and parents
Aphrodite Macbain: do you get little visitors on Halloween Bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: nope. Too far out in the country for trick or treaters.
Aphrodite Macbain: :(
Bruce Mowbray: I think sometimes the kiddies go into town to do it, though.
Aphrodite Macbain: If any one is interested we are going to have a duel in two hot air balloons next week at Rocca Sorrentina...
Bruce Mowbray: Dueling Balloons?
Aphrodite Macbain: something like that
Aphrodite Macbain: could be worth watching...
Bruce Mowbray: Hope that it's not a windy day!
Aphrodite Macbain: they are building the balloons out of kits
Aphrodite Macbain: lol me too
Wol Euler: duelling how? Throwing poetry at each other?
Aphrodite Macbain: I'll send u the invitation when I get it
Wol Euler: ok
Aphrodite Macbain: with swords
Wol Euler: O.O
Aphrodite Macbain: each being within a balloon
Wol Euler: careful not to poke holes in the balloon
Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Aphrodite Macbain: try and imagine an Errol Flynn movie
Wol Euler: with balloons
Wol Euler: right
Wol Euler: I like my idea better, to be honest :)
Aphrodite Macbain: :)
Wol Euler: dueling poets
Aphrodite Macbain: right
Wol Euler: random drops of ink falling on the spectators
Aphrodite Macbain: but they wont necessarily be quoting poetry
Aphrodite Macbain: they may be swearing at each other
Wol Euler: as long as it's rhythmic and rhymes, that works for me
Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Aphrodite Macbain: 18th century swear words...
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Aph: Here it is....IM me if you would like to come and watch.
Group Notice From: Order of Westphalia, Aldo Stern
All interested gentlemen and ladies with strong constitutions are invited to view a duel between Signor Mercury Gandt, of our island, with Signor Friedrich von Brenneysen, a young man who has become a regular visitor to Rocca Sorrentina, on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 9 AM SLT on the Great Lawn.
This duel may be of more than usual interest as the two combatants and their seconds will be engaging with each other from aeronautical balloons, such as was lately displayed by the Montgolfier brothers in Paris.
Aphrodite Macbain: Is there any particular subject anyone would like to raise?
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm a bit doped up with pain killer to come up with much
Bruce Mowbray: Only that I hope your healing is swift . . .
Bruce Mowbray: and that you're feeling much better soon.
Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: I'm going to slip on over to Berti's meditation sim now.
Aphrodite Macbain: Any suggestions for whiling away time?
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks, Aph, Thanks, Wol.
Bruce Mowbray: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, APH!!!!
Aphrodite Macbain: yw. I'll be there at 2 Brucie
Aphrodite Macbain: thanks
Wol Euler: write a few short stories?
Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Aphrodite Macbain: very short
Wol Euler: why not?
Wol Euler: somebody has to
Aphrodite Macbain: don’t make me laugh! :D
Wol Euler: sorry
Aphrodite Macbain: maybe haiku
Wol Euler: in that case, perhaps you should chant dirges
Aphrodite Macbain: mphmph
Aphrodite Macbain: (suppresses another giggle)
Aphrodite Macbain: yay aggers is on line
Aphrodite Macbain: shall we all go to Berti's and test our audio?
Wol Euler: yep
Aphrodite Macbain: k
Aphrodite Macbain: those are magnificent skirts Wol
