The Guardian for this meeting was Adams Rubble. The comments are by Adams Rubble.
This morning we had a visit from a new visitor and and old friend. It was a chance to discuss what Play as Being was all about. It was a good reminder for me.
JamiCoach Resident: 's current display-name is "Jami".
Adams Rubble: Hello Jami
JamiCoach Resident: hi
Adams Rubble: Is this your first time at Play as Being?
JamiCoach Resident: it is my second
Adams Rubble: oh good, so you know the chat is recorded then
Adams Rubble: nice to meet you
JamiCoach Resident: oh no i do now
JamiCoach Resident: nice to meet you
Adams Rubble: yes are you OK with it being recorded and put on the wiki?
JamiCoach Resident: sure
Adams Rubble: :)
JamiCoach Resident: ;->
Adams Rubble: The notecard is hard to find among the flowers :)
--BELL--
JamiCoach Resident: Thank you.
Adams Rubble: Each of the cushions have two poses
Adams Rubble: The group was begin on the principle of stopping every fifteen minutes for 9 seconds but very few people, if any, do that now
Adams Rubble: the idea is to pause to look at ourselves to see what we are doing
Adams Rubble: the group has evolved into more of a discussion group
JamiCoach Resident: ok cool
Adams Rubble: Usually someone has a topic they would like to talk about
JamiCoach Resident: do you have a topic
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: I did not come with one today but we could make one up
Adams Rubble: Hello Korii
Korii Tiger: hi adams
Adams Rubble: meet Jami
Adams Rubble: Jami, we might discuss the nine seconds
JamiCoach Resident: of observation
Adams Rubble: Korii are you here for the first time?
JamiCoach Resident: like what i notice
Adams Rubble: yes
Adams Rubble: often if we stop suddenly it might surprise ourselves
Adams Rubble: that we are not thinking or doing what we think we are
JamiCoach Resident: ok
Adams Rubble: it is a bit like meditation only much more geared to the busy 20th century life
JamiCoach Resident: so we share our thoughts and ideas
Adams Rubble: yes, when we gather together we do
Adams Rubble: The idea at the beginning was that we would practice outside the meetings and then get together and share observations
Adams Rubble: but now it mostly just a sharing of ideas
Adams Rubble: There are chat logs on the wiki that can give a good idea
JamiCoach Resident: something i have noticed is a need for conflict managment or training for people on SL
Korii Tiger: adams no i used to comehere years ago when opema pera was comminghere. i lso introduced jami to here
Adams Rubble: oh, thank you Korii
JamiCoach Resident: yes thank you
Adams Rubble: Interesting Jami
Adams Rubble: We do try to respect each others opinions in Play as being
Adams Rubble: we have not had too much conflict here
Adams Rubble: once in a while over the seven years
JamiCoach Resident: i would guess not in a recorded formatt
JamiCoach Resident: accountability helps
Adams Rubble: yes
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: Of course many avatars are anonymous
Adams Rubble: but of course we regulars are less so, especially to each other :)
Adams Rubble: Would you care to discuss some conflict situations you have in mind
Adams Rubble: some of us do not travel much in SL any more :)
Adams Rubble: all of us know about griefers
JamiCoach Resident: well my experience is that there is often conflict and even bulliing in other disusion groups
JamiCoach Resident: and sims
JamiCoach Resident: that is poorly managed
Adams Rubble: yes
Adams Rubble: hopefully you will not run into that here
Adams Rubble: we have had people come and try to take over here though but surprisingly not too often in seven years
Adams Rubble: maybe those few occasions have been a good lesson for the group
JamiCoach Resident: maybe i worry too much about other people
Adams Rubble: we live kind of a sheltered life here. hehe
JamiCoach Resident: so your like a monk?
Adams Rubble: in any case a big welcome to you
Adams Rubble: ohh, no not that sheltered :)
JamiCoach Resident: ;->
Adams Rubble: just a friendly environment
Adams Rubble: not many rules except to respect each others beliefs and opinions
Adams Rubble: this all is a good reminder for me
Adams Rubble: We don't meet as regularly as we used to but still meet a number of times during the week. There is a schedule on the home page of the wiki
Adams Rubble: I am here here every Sunday morning
Adams Rubble: not too many sessions at this time any more; there are more at 1 pm SLT and 7 pm SLT
JamiCoach Resident: oh ok
Adams Rubble: your profile mentions Buddhism have you been to many Buddhist sessions or sims?
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: The recovering from religion sounds interesting :)
JamiCoach Resident: yes i have been to a couple temples and practice meditation
JamiCoach Resident: Recovery from Religion is a new group i co-founded
JamiCoach Resident: the idea is to help people develop their own views after religous abuse
Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: Usually those doing the abusing have no clue to what their religion is about
JamiCoach Resident: agreed
JamiCoach Resident: and sometimes the abuse is institionalized
Adams Rubble: yes
Adams Rubble: it is sad because we can learn from all of the traditions
JamiCoach Resident: agreed
JamiCoach Resident: and freedom of choice and expression when done with fair baoundaries helps us all
Adams Rubble: yes
Adams Rubble: and understanding of each other
Adams Rubble: no need to fight about religion but unfortunately.......
JamiCoach Resident: listining is difficult and excepting individualism is sometimes not an option
Adams Rubble: yes listening such an important starting point
JamiCoach Resident: i call it the million dollar principle
JamiCoach Resident: when you can express somenones pain as well or better than they can there is nothing they wont do for you
JamiCoach Resident: within reason ;->
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: we are more alike than different
JamiCoach Resident: yes and more different than we could ever imagine ;->
JamiCoach Resident: both statements are true
Adams Rubble: we all know cool, interesting things and can learn from each other
JamiCoach Resident: yes! it was really nice to meet you Adams time for me to go, i look forward to coming back
Adams Rubble: You too, it was very nice to meet you and I do hope you come back :)
Adams Rubble: and good to see you Korii, I expect we may have met but my memory is not so good
Korii Tiger: we have
JamiCoach Resident: ;-> will do.
--BELL--
Korii Tiger: i was probably a fairy or a tiger
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: ahhh, were you a big dragon once?
Korii Tiger: probably
Korii Tiger: see you
Adams Rubble: I remember you know
Adams Rubble: bye Jame and Korii
