The Guardian for this meeting was Wol.

    Wol Euler: buongiorno, qt
    Qt Core: Hi Wol
Wol Euler: it's that silly time of year again
    Wol Euler: such superstitious nonsense
Qt Core: it seems that finally spring has arrived wit a (too much) shining sun (more than 20C in the afternoon)
    Wol Euler: wow!
Wol Euler: it's turned cold again here :(
Qt Core: it will propably hit us in a week, many sayings here say that palm sunday and easter have opposite weather
Wol Euler: hmmm, never heard that before. Good news for us, if it's true
    Qt Core: ;-)
    Wol Euler: wb
    Qt Core: ty
Qt Core: i was saying that the saying is something like this: "water on the olives sun on the cheeks"
Qt Core: where the cheeks are the easter peeled boiled eggs
Wol Euler: the last I heard from you was your :) after I said it would be good news for us
    Wol Euler: ah :)
Qt Core: ... and cheeks here should be more correctly read as ass-cheeks ;-)
    Wol Euler: um ....... okay
Wol Euler: so what are the "olives" really, then?
Qt Core: no, the olive branches we use for Palm sunday
    Qt Core: ;-)
Wol Euler: ... do you not use palm fronds on Palm Sunday?
    Wol Euler: I'm confused
Qt Core: we use olives branches that then you take home and put somewhere for good luck/protection/blessing
    Wol Euler smiles.

    --BELL--

Qt Core: and in many cases the main palm sunday is held in the open (so you could feel a little less suilly waving your (little) olive branch
Qt Core: main palm sunday mass
Wol Euler: okay, I can see that, it would be uncomfortable in a room full of metre-long palm fronds waving all around your head
Wol Euler: or even outdoors ditto
Qt Core: then you'll see people almost fighting for the best/most branches (never understood what they need all of that olive for)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Qt Core: i haven't got any in years... but some aunt will always bring me some
Wol Euler: good to have a supplier :)
Qt Core: i always wondered about the correct procedures to dispose of the old one ;-)
Wol Euler: hmmmm, yes, I suppose you can't just throw them in the garbage .....
Qt Core: we are talking about branches from 20cm to a meter long, you can as they can be treated as your vaggie waste, i wonder if there is "a rite" about it, more a superstition than a rite
    Qt Core: *veggie
    Wol Euler: indeed

Wol Euler: I suppose you could ask a priest for advice, there might be an official approved method
Wol Euler: it#s not as though this would be a new problem :)
Wol Euler: people hundreds of years ago were probably much more pragmatic about it. "That's valuable fuel, that is, put it in the woodpile to burn."
Qt Core: yes, but as they were blessed they would probably disperse the ashes on the fields
Wol Euler: hmmm, yes. So still an issue to be clarified. Burned separately ..
Wol Euler: It's a good question, Qt. What *did* people do?
Wol Euler: so much of social history is lost to us, things like this
Wol Euler: which nobody recorded because (a) it's not important and (b) everyone knows, don't they?
Qt Core: (personally mine ends in the humid or dry portion of my garbage depending on the size and whim of the moment)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Qt Core: googling and no useful results, the palm sunday celebration or the olive tree cultivation
Qt Core: (italy is losing many, even secular olive trees to an illness)

    Wol Euler: O.O

    --BELL--
Qt Core: Xylella, the olive plague, imported from Africa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylella_fastidiosa
Qt Core: i now have to go
    Wol Euler: wow
Wol Euler: and bye qt, enjoy the day
    Qt Core: bye
    Wol Euler: bye! take care
