The Guardian for this meeting was Wol...
Wol Euler: buongiorno, Qt
Qt Core: Hi Wol
Qt Core: I've probably found the reason of my crashes... half of my wifi router died
Qt Core: it work if connected with a cable but since a couple day no wifi and no router admin pages
Wol Euler: wow
Wol Euler: well, that is good news (discovering the reason)
Qt Core: just got a scary thought... was it hijacked ? the wifi signal is still present but inaccessible (with my saved password) and maybe the admin pages got a change of ip address...
Wol Euler: O.O
Qt Core: when i logout io will bypass it
Wol Euler: replace it at once, you should be able to buy a router for under 100 euros
Qt Core: yes, that is the plan for this morning shopping trip
Qt Core: outside on my bicycle at 08:30... temps already at 29C
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: it's awfully hot and humid here too
Wol Euler: such a change from where I was in Canada
Qt Core: they called this heatwave Flegetonte one of the river in Hell, mostly thought to be a fire river
Qt Core: (and river of fire is also the literal translation of the name itself from greek)
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: at least it's not as bad as in India
Wol Euler: up to 50° there
Qt Core: a few days ago the AC in my office was so perfect that even a 27C outside was annoying (and that kind of habits disturb me)
Qt Core: (and AC in my office working well is sooooo weird)
--BELL--
Qt Core: brb
Qt Core: got to greet a uon coming to administer some antibiotic injections to my mother
Wol Euler: nuns do that kind of work too?
Qt Core: she is complaining about the weather... but hasn't chenged her black uniform to the summer one
Qt Core: yes, there is a near (as in a couple hundred meter away) nun group that do that, both there if you can or at home if not
Qt Core: after all the non cloistered ones, especially if living in town have to do somethng
Wol Euler: true
Wol Euler: and I suppose the doctor's assistants (who are not actual nurses) do give injections too, come to think of it
Qt Core: i see them often as i live on the simplest way from their house and the nearest church ;-)
--BELL--
Qt Core: they also come to my house sometimes to bring the Holy Communion to my mother or for the Christmas blessings (as only priests can't do all the houses)
Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: for those two services even some laymen are used
Wol Euler: hello aggers
Agatha Macbeth: Morning alll
Agatha Macbeth: How's Wollie?
Qt Core: (thinking that this week many religious figures come to my house... even a priest that know my family from even before my parents were married)
Qt Core: Hi Aga
Wol Euler: coffee and tea, eh?
Qt Core: next some IV caffeine ?\
Agatha Macbeth: Well I just coffee in RL so thought I'd switch
Agatha Macbeth: (Being weird)
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: since you asked, wollie is hot and bothered
Wol Euler: too much summer
Agatha Macbeth: Yes it's got ridicously warm suddenly
Agatha Macbeth: We had a storm last night
Qt Core: and two and a half months of it to go
Agatha Macbeth: Still beats winter
Wol Euler: I disagree :)
Wol Euler: you can always get warm in winter, but it
Qt Core: a little rain here tonight... that almost evaporated before hitting earth
Agatha Macbeth: Well you don't live here :p
Wol Euler: it's so hard to get cool and not-humid in summer
Agatha Macbeth: Oh
Qt Core: i need to go, places to be, people to meet, routers to buy...
Agatha Macbeth: Ciao QT, route well
Wol Euler: bye qt, enjoy the day
Qt Core: bye all
Agatha Macbeth: Bless him
Wol Euler: indeed
Agatha Macbeth: Back home?
Wol Euler: yes, not quite 24 hours here
Agatha Macbeth: Was wondering if you'd be on
Agatha Macbeth: Hopefully not working today?
Agatha Macbeth: Hence can catch up on sleep...
Wol Euler: not working today
Agatha Macbeth: Yay
Wol Euler: I'll go in tomorrow to clean up a bit, we have a .. what's the word
Wol Euler: unpaid trainee kid
Wol Euler: coming for a week
Agatha Macbeth: Oh
Wol Euler: intern
Agatha Macbeth: They have those there?
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Agatha Macbeth: Foreign or German?
Wol Euler: confused :)
Agatha Macbeth: Hm
Wol Euler: seems to be German, her mother lives nearby and is known to bossette
Wol Euler: but the kid is coming from (visit arranged by) a school in England
Agatha Macbeth: Oh my
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe it's an EU thing
Wol Euler: I guess
Wol Euler: how are you?
Agatha Macbeth: Me? great
Agatha Macbeth: Warm and healthy
Agatha Macbeth: Why does my coffee keep vanishing?
Agatha Macbeth: Can you script cups so they disappear?
--BELL--
Wol Euler: yes
Wol Euler: I guess it disappears because the cup is empty?
Agatha Macbeth: Hm
Agatha Macbeth: Not sure
Agatha Macbeth: Seems daft tho
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe Turkish coffee cups vanish in RL, I dunno
Agatha Macbeth: Alibaba and all that
Wol Euler: yep
Wol Euler: that damn IS sneaks into the kitchen and takes them
Agatha Macbeth: I mean if their carpets fly surely their cups can didappear?
Agatha Macbeth: Or maybe genies come out of them
Wol Euler nods.
Agatha Macbeth: What was her name, that blonde girl?
Wol Euler: Cinderella?
Agatha Macbeth: No, the one who played the genie
Wol Euler: oh
Wol Euler: barbara eden
Agatha Macbeth: With Larry Hagler
Agatha Macbeth: Yes!
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: ah, happy days
Agatha Macbeth: How could I forget?
Agatha Macbeth: I still remember the tune
Wol Euler: I was just humming it!
Agatha Macbeth whistles
Agatha Macbeth: Happy Days was the Fonz wasn't it?
Wol Euler: MASH?
Agatha Macbeth: Huh?
Agatha Macbeth: Naw, that was Hawkeye
Wol Euler: never watched the Fonz, I really disliked that character
Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Agatha Macbeth: He was good our Henry
Wol Euler: oh you're right, that wasn't the theme tune, just a song they often played
Agatha Macbeth: 'Suicide is painless'
Wol Euler nods.
Agatha Macbeth: I thought Alan Alda was brilliant in that
Agatha Macbeth: Used to crack me up
Wol Euler: I remember the episode where Henry finished his tour and was sent back home
Agatha Macbeth: Which Henry?
--BELL--
Agatha Macbeth: Sun keeps going on and off
[ommited]
Wol Euler: (( remove this from the log, no spoilers please ))
Agatha Macbeth: Oh hell everyone's seen it!
Wol Euler: well, you never know :)
Wol Euler: it was such a long time ago, kids probably haven't
Agatha Macbeth: I remember the very last scene was Radar lowering the flag to half-mast and saluting it
Wol Euler: hmmmm
Agatha Macbeth: Just sticks in my mind that's all
Wol Euler: and yet we (society) are willing to send people to jail forever, or to their deaths, because of what witnesses remember
Wol Euler: funny that
Agatha Macbeth: Yes
Agatha Macbeth: Well people will always be fallible
Wol Euler: the legal fiction that memory is infallible and that witnesses never lie
Agatha Macbeth: Right
Wol Euler: or even "are never mistaken"
Agatha Macbeth: And some DO think that
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: like Christine Keeler's comment inthe Profumo case
Agatha Macbeth: 'I forgot to close me legs?'
Wol Euler: the judge and lawyers had to pretend not to understand that a man might lie on oath to keep his job, his family, his prestige and his wealth
Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Agatha Macbeth: How's the family doing?
Wol Euler: well, in a way it brought us closer
Agatha Macbeth nods
Wol Euler: they are a wonderful bunch of people, my Canadian relatives
Agatha Macbeth: I can imagine
Wol Euler: but my aunt-by-marriage lost her last remaining sibling that week, and I was so distraught at the graveside service that I forgot to say anything to her about it
Wol Euler: I kicked myself about that fort he rest of the week
Agatha Macbeth: Oh dear
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, it happens
Wol Euler nods.
--BELL--
Wol Euler: I still felt bad about it
Agatha Macbeth: You would ♥
Wol Euler smiles.
Agatha Macbeth: My dear Wollie
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe it would be far worse if you saw them every day...
Wol Euler: oh, if I saw her daily I would remember
Wol Euler: even if I had seen her at any time after the service, I
Wol Euler: I'd have rememberd then
Wol Euler: I think
Wol Euler: I was remembering that people asked for a copy of the eulogy, and wondering if I'd got them all
Wol Euler: probably not, I hope those I forget will have the sense and the patience to ask again
Agatha Macbeth pokes you
Agatha Macbeth: Anyway
Agatha Macbeth: Hopefully you'll soon be throwing yerself back into work to get your mind off it!
Wol Euler: oh yes, monday morning will come soon enough
Agatha Macbeth: Back to routine
Wol Euler nods.
Agatha Macbeth: Is the pavilion review thingy tomorrow?
Agatha Macbeth: 2PM I believe
Wol Euler: oh, I don't know
Wol Euler: haven't checked Wol's email yet
Agatha Macbeth: I believe so anyways
Wol Euler: okay, see you there (if it is)
Agatha Macbeth: Huggies
Agatha Macbeth: Shut up bell
