    Riddle Sideways: Happy Tuesday indeed
Riddle Sideways: not so much problem getting here today :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Riddle Sideways: you were early
    Adams Rubble: :)
Bleu Oleander: 's current display-name is "Bleu".
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Bleu
    Adams Rubble: east coaster
    Bleu Oleander: hi all
Adams Rubble: Good morning Bleu :)

Riddle Sideways: was listening to the news that LA trucks can't get to Phx
Riddle Sideways: and Phx can't go to LA
    Bleu Oleander: due to storms?
Riddle Sideways: the rain brought down a bridge
    Bleu Oleander: yes saw that
    Adams Rubble: :(
Adams Rubble: will the rain help the drought?
    Riddle Sideways: probably not enough
Bleu Oleander: I think they need more than that
Riddle Sideways: might keep some trees alive
Bleu Oleander: I don't think they should turn their sprinklers back on tho
    Adams Rubble: hope not
Adams Rubble: I saw there was a 4.0 earthquake in Fremont
Riddle Sideways: did not feel that
Bleu Oleander: is that near you?
Adams Rubble: around 2 in the morning
Riddle Sideways: almost 2 hours drive
Adams Rubble: Two hours would get me out of NJ in almost any direction
Riddle Sideways: cat jumping on bed is more than a 4.0
Bleu Oleander: 2 hours wouldn't come close to getting me out of AZ :)
Adams Rubble: interesting scale you have Riddle :)
    Adams Rubble: is a dog a 5.0?
    Bleu Oleander: big cat?
    Riddle Sideways: energetic
Riddle Sideways: it takes 4-5 hours to get out of Cal in the closest way
Adams Rubble: If it is a cougar I am getting out fo the ebd
    Adams Rubble: bed
    Riddle Sideways: :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Riddle Sideways: we try to keep those big cats outside
Riddle Sideways: once again, we are modified by our Point of Views
                --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: NJ (and Isreal) think they are big countries
Adams Rubble: only the guv does
Bleu Oleander: he's pretty big himself :)
Adams Rubble: traveling of course modifies those points of view
Bleu Oleander: traveling in your mind does too
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Adams Rubble: and reading John Steinbeck after coming back from CA
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: there was an interesting article on slow reading
    Bleu Oleander: and its benefits
Riddle Sideways: there is a very nice Steinbeck musium in downtown Salinas
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Adams Rubble: ohhh, nice Riddle
Adams Rubble: hard to read a novel slowly though
Riddle Sideways: yes, reading slow can actually get the words correct
    Bleu Oleander: http://news.stanford.edu/news/2012/s...ri-090712.html
Bleu Oleander: seems better for your brain :)
Bleu Oleander: "close reading, as a form of heightened attention, would create more neural activity than pleasure reading"
Adams Rubble shivers at thought of reading in an MRI machine
Bleu Oleander: "close reading (i.e., attention to literary form) "could serve – quite literally – as a kind of cognitive training, teaching us to modulate our concentration and use new brain regions as we move flexibly between modes of focus."
    Bleu Oleander: pretty interesting
Adams Rubble: stop and smell the adjectives
Bleu Oleander: I think i've experienced that
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Bleu Oleander: slow reading feels a bit like meditation for me
Bleu Oleander: am reading the Iliad again this summer ... slowly ... amazing the difference
    Adams Rubble: :)
Bleu Oleander: reading it along with a Harvard online class ... really has changed my feeling about the classic :)
Bleu Oleander: The Ancient Greek Hero in 24 Hours by a Harvard professor, Greg Nagy
Bleu Oleander: well must get going
Bleu Oleander: take care you two
    Adams Rubble: you too bleu
    Bleu Oleander: bye for now
    Adams Rubble: keep learning :)
    Bleu Oleander: always
Adams Rubble: now just two points of view :)
    Riddle Sideways: bye
    Riddle Sideways: well ...
Riddle Sideways: Geminis and split personallities and multiple voices in head and ... and ..
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: how shall we count the ones present?
Adams Rubble: most of my avatars seem to be in the past
                --BELL--
    Riddle Sideways: hmmm, how so?
Adams Rubble: thinking of removing them
Adams Rubble: just two of us now
Adams Rubble: and that person on the other side of the screen :)
Riddle Sideways: and that reading public
Riddle Sideways: a couple avatars/alts still have lives, adventures, desires, futures
    Riddle Sideways: maybe
    Adams Rubble: I think so
    Riddle Sideways: no sure
Adams Rubble: the other avatar very busy on the new project
Riddle Sideways: can't tell how many pages are left in those books
    Adams Rubble: the human condition
Adams Rubble: every day a new gift
Adams Rubble: sometimes it is hard to believe how many we have had so far
Riddle Sideways: not knowing the number of days
Adams Rubble: so many people have had so many fewer
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Riddle Sideways: that was very nice thoughts to drift off on
Riddle Sideways: the number of days vs. the quality of those days
    Adams Rubble: being present
Riddle Sideways: slow reading one's days
Riddle Sideways: reading a paragraph, setting it down and comtemplating
Adams Rubble: or hearing a bird and contemplating :)
    Riddle Sideways: brb
    Adams Rubble: ok
                --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: those unplanned (or planned) time outs that happen to bring on contemplation
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: the last couple years have changed the read in bed time
Riddle Sideways: it use to be the pleasure reading time
Adams Rubble: sitting here grooving on Leonard Cohen while you were away
Adams Rubble: yes, nice time to read
    Riddle Sideways: ahhhhhhhhhhh
Riddle Sideways: that deep rich voice
Riddle Sideways: then going to bed so tired
Adams Rubble: I have just picked that up again in the last month
Riddle Sideways: made reading 1-2 pages and drifting off
Adams Rubble: hehe, yes not reading much
Riddle Sideways: snappnig back some time later
Riddle Sideways: having read 10-20 pages in the mind
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Riddle Sideways: continued the story
    Riddle Sideways: as if
Adams Rubble: after all those days we have had, need to go to bed earlier :)
Riddle Sideways: then just saying ....
Riddle Sideways: that was very nice
    Adams Rubble: )
Riddle Sideways: yes, should go to bed earilier
    Riddle Sideways: but don't
Adams Rubble: so much to do at night
                --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: ah, the slow read
Adams Rubble: thank you for the nice session Riddle :)
    Riddle Sideways: it was nice
Riddle Sideways: should some of the IM come over here?
Adams Rubble: Have a great gift of a day :)
Riddle Sideways: and have your best day
Adams Rubble: Maybe next time we can discuss cain and Abel :)
Adams Rubble: otherwise it can stay there :)
Adams Rubble: bye for now :)
