2015.07.28 18:00 - PaB in emerging worlds

The Guardian for this meeting was Eos Amaterasu. The comments are by Eos Amaterasu.

Eliza Madrigal: 's current display-name is "Eliza".
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: Evening, friend :) How are your teeth? :)
Eos Amaterasu: Numb on one side :-)
    Eliza Madrigal: fun fun
    Eos Amaterasu: How's Cinderella?
Eliza Madrigal: I've had about 5 dentist appts in the last few months so believe me, this much I do understand :)
    Eliza Madrigal: she's very tired
Eliza Madrigal: but drug herself here with an underlying agenda, hah
    Eliza Madrigal: dragged*
    Eos Amaterasu: hmmm
Eos Amaterasu: drugs can be a transportation medium :-)
    Eliza Madrigal grins
Eliza Madrigal: well, lots of research about that
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eliza Madrigal: but I just wanted to ask if you would be there to, and if you would, open and close retreat
Eos Amaterasu: oh... is Thursday or Friday 1st SL retreat day?
Eliza Madrigal: Thursday is first day, Saturday last
    Eos Amaterasu: Okay, yes
Eliza Madrigal: Sunday there was/is the pavilion feedback session so moved it ahead
Eliza Madrigal: Wonderful :)) thank you
Eliza Madrigal: it seems it will be quite the patchwork retreat, but I think might be nice that way
    Eos Amaterasu: "continuity" theme?
Eliza Madrigal: sure, or anything that emerges along those lines, whatever comes up naturally
Eliza Madrigal: for me it is a wonderful word but I've realized that for others it is hard to relate to
Eliza Madrigal: along the lines of equanimity perhaps
Eliza Madrigal: but it also seems like the topics this week have fed into what I think we meant
    Eos Amaterasu: yes
Eos Amaterasu: we sketch our own edges :-)
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: was actually reading a long facebook thread about consciousness and nature of mind and shared emerging worlds
Eos Amaterasu: "shared emerging worlds" sounds like life on this planet....
Eliza Madrigal: came away with a reading list :) Fair to say it was all beyond me
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
    Eliza Madrigal: mind/world co-arising
Eos Amaterasu: in individual lives, life stories
Eliza Madrigal: that's what I'm interested in
Eliza Madrigal: and why I probably won't follow up with many of the books suggested :)
Eliza Madrigal: better to watch people walk by, have some conversations, visit hospital
Eos Amaterasu: and then write a book :-)
Eliza Madrigal: :) dr seuss type
Eliza Madrigal: have you ever considered working on something like that? or more poetic?
Eos Amaterasu: I don't know about a book, but to write down more is a good idea and intention

    --BELL--

    Eos Amaterasu: "incarnate constantly"
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eos Amaterasu: i think i have more intentions than incarnations
Eliza Madrigal: would be a way to keep a thread for a while
Eliza Madrigal: haha me too, or misfired ones
Eliza Madrigal: "I'm going to do this" but then somewhere along the way I get a puppy...
Eliza Madrigal: and decide to learn to make ten kinds of curry
Eliza Madrigal wonders if you've kept your blog
Eos Amaterasu: I still have a somewhat deserted blog :-)
Eliza Madrigal: "somewhat deserted" love that phrase :))
Eliza Madrigal: implies you still remember how to get back there
Eos Amaterasu: yes.... it's still fighting off hundreds of thousands of spammers
    Eliza Madrigal: wow really?
Eos Amaterasu: yeah, there's defensive software (like for WordPress, Akismet) that tackles spam messages before you ever see them... except that every once in a while lots of them storm through
Eliza Madrigal: interesting. your blog must have been very findable though, to have that level of spam
Eos Amaterasu: happens to everyone.... within seconds of launching a site...
Eliza Madrigal: I've opened and closed several and mostly they just hang out in space for a while until I get self-conscious about it

Eos Amaterasu: These logged conversations are another kind of art form
Eos Amaterasu: not sustained stories, but intersecting fragments
Eliza Madrigal: reading all these years, quite beautiful tapestries/tapestry
Eliza Madrigal: wonder what it would be like for someone to happen upon and take interest
    Eliza Madrigal: from outside SL
Eos Amaterasu: I'm sure that happens....
Eliza Madrigal: how would such a person contact "the group" without going into SL?
Eos Amaterasu: Through the wiki.... but is there a way to contact somebody?
Eliza Madrigal: that's what I am wondering.... opening front page...
Eliza Madrigal: I think only if someone looked further through Kira, hm
Eos Amaterasu: That's an interesting kind of boundary and architecture, to have the route to contact be through SL
    Eliza Madrigal nods
    Eliza Madrigal: especially now
Eliza Madrigal: maybe something to think about, whether to have a group email that could be public to "outsiders"

Eos Amaterasu: I think another route would be through distributed RL shared "moments"
Eliza Madrigal: but maybe that comes too close to the FB question
    Eliza Madrigal: distributed?
Eos Amaterasu: yeah, this is a further riff on the snowglobe idea, that you have a tangible thing around which a 9-second or 90-second experience, or conversation, could arise
Eos Amaterasu: with a path to others, to the wiki, to SL, to Art of Being, to newer forms
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm, nods...
Eliza Madrigal: has always been tricky to translate
Eos Amaterasu: like those mysterious origami figures in Blade Runner, left behind by the detective...

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: Blade Runner is still on my list to watch :)
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eos Amaterasu: that detective ended up commander of Battlestar Galactica
Eliza Madrigal: ah, over my head again
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Eliza Madrigal: but I've always wanted to be able to tangibly share PaB in RL
    Eos Amaterasu: Edward James Olmos
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, that's my main intention I think
Eos Amaterasu: share it in whatever life
Eliza Madrigal: you are fortunate to have a base contemplative community
Eliza Madrigal: many years and connections
Eos Amaterasu: not really... except yes, as history and little present gleamings of that (like here)
    Eliza Madrigal: hm...
Eliza Madrigal: maybe no one is really sure how to connect and communicate lately
    Eos Amaterasu: yeah
Eos Amaterasu: was just realizing that one of the ways of doing that, sharing PaB (by whatever name),
Eos Amaterasu: is through writing the story of your life, how you found those gleamings and how they came out
Eos Amaterasu: like our friend Ellen K Blum is doing
    Eliza Madrigal: and so beautifully
Eliza Madrigal: am happy to see her website up now
    Eos Amaterasu: yes
Eliza Madrigal: that was a lovely connection you made possible
    Eos Amaterasu: http://ellenkblum.com
    Eliza Madrigal: *is, :)
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eliza Madrigal: I like that she is able to integrate so many different angles of interest and background
Eliza Madrigal: just writing her experience, a teacher who doesn't come across teachy
Eos Amaterasu: yes, you learn to trust the source
Eliza Madrigal: ah that's true - what all the threads come back to over and over again
Eliza Madrigal: Both the Dalai Lama and Trungpa Rinpoche give guidance not to reject family traditions and such for the sake of embracing Buddhism, but not easy to maneuver those waters sometimes. Ellen has helped me a lot with that, reading her experiences
    Eos Amaterasu: hmm, yes
Eliza Madrigal: it isn't Buddhism rejecting anything, but vice versa, and working with the basic misunderstandings
Eliza Madrigal: when younger I would just try not to care :)

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: probably rambling and keeping you up on a night you are exhausted after work and dentist :) didn't mean to do that!
    Eos Amaterasu: oh, np!
Eos Amaterasu: Another approach to sharing PaB in RL ("real") is the "decide on one thing" approach
    Eos Amaterasu: one simple thing
Eos Amaterasu: and just find that everywhere
Eos Amaterasu: so find it in PaB in SL
Eos Amaterasu: in PaB in RL
    Eos Amaterasu: in 9-seconds
Eos Amaterasu: in Art of Being
Eos Amaterasu: in RL retreat practice in everyday life
Eliza Madrigal: re Bruce's email "love as much as you can from wherever you are"
Eliza Madrigal: but as soon as I put that to practice I realized it was larger than that, larger than as much as I can
Eliza Madrigal: which was even more refreshing, so a nice "one simple thing"
    Eliza Madrigal: perhaps?
    Eos Amaterasu: take any opportunity
Eos Amaterasu: to punctuate emerging worlds with little gaps of space
Eos Amaterasu: which helps them grow :-)
Eliza Madrigal smiles and feeling a little more quiet
    Eliza Madrigal: nice
    Eos Amaterasu: like puppies :-)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles more....
Eliza Madrigal: he sleeps a lot, like an infant
Eliza Madrigal: forgot how that feels, baby buddha calming the world

Eos Amaterasu: some sense of concentration, in a light almost blissful way, with that kind of infant sleeping
    Eliza Madrigal: very much so!
Eos Amaterasu: maybe like a spring coiling :-)
    Eliza Madrigal: good analogy
Eliza Madrigal: when they sleep they force you to stay a while longer than you intend...
Eliza Madrigal: until you unravel more and more
    Eliza Madrigal: high priority :)
Eliza Madrigal: ah, speaking of which I wish you a pleasant night Eos
Eos Amaterasu: thanks for being here, Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: really didn't intend to keep you up! but thank YOU for being here
    Eos Amaterasu: Good night!
    Eos Amaterasu: Will also leave....
Eliza Madrigal: and there, and on the wiki, and in retreat in a few days...
    Eliza Madrigal waves
