We start with the weather with Hurricane Michael sweeeping though the southeast of US
Adams Rubble: Good morning Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: Morning, Adams :)
Adams Rubble: are you affected much by Michael?
Eliza Madrigal: not at all, thanks, way farther north
Adams Rubble: nasty storm
Eliza Madrigal nods... saw a few photos of the damage so far :(
Adams Rubble: is that a less populated area?
Eliza Madrigal: Irma did quite a lot of damage that parts of south florida are still recovering from. The attention shifts, but it takes a long time to fully rebound
Eliza Madrigal: The panhandle is generally less populated, yes
Adams Rubble: yes, that even happens up in our neck of the woods
Eliza Madrigal: lots of larger swaths of land
Adams Rubble: the woods are still full of downed trees from Sandy
Eliza Madrigal: I'm surprised, although I shouldn't be... there were parts of Miami affected by Andrew in 1992 that changed entirely and forever
Adams Rubble: I emember Andrew in south florida--terrible pictures of devastation
Eliza Madrigal: I was in a closet with a 3 week old baby
Adams Rubble: ohhh
Adams Rubble: i can't imagine
Eliza Madrigal: a defining time
Eliza Madrigal: these monster storms were rare back then
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: although the lesser storms did more damage because building codes were more lax
Adams Rubble: There were nasty storms in the 1950s--it is usually flooding up here
Adams Rubble: but also fewer people living on the coasts
Adams Rubble: back then
Eliza Madrigal: I think it gets even stranger up there, because you have cold fronts and warm fronts at the same time occasionally?
Eliza Madrigal: unpredictability factor
Eliza Madrigal: Once catches a glimpse of what it means to have climate refugees :(
Adams Rubble: we are having a cold front today picking up moisture from Michael as it approaches
Eliza Madrigal: Sort of nice?
Adams Rubble: the are warning of flash floods
Adams Rubble: they
Adams Rubble: the weater gurus
Eliza Madrigal: goodness, didn't realize
Eliza Madrigal: thought it wouldn't affect you much
Adams Rubble: nothing like what is happening furhter south but worried about people traveling
Eliza Madrigal nods
Adams Rubble: the hurricane itself will go out to sea well south of here
Adams Rubble: the Carolinas will be hit again
Eliza Madrigal: I have a cousin who has been moving houses while all this is going on
Adams Rubble: ohhh
Eliza Madrigal: she's handling it okay, but, ack
Eliza Madrigal: :) hopefully mostly inconveniences
Adams Rubble nods
New Topic - Meditation Ap
Eliza Madrigal: On another subject, I tried a new meditation app this morning
Adams Rubble listens
Eliza Madrigal: it was kind of unusual, in that there is another person on the other end
Eliza Madrigal: A friend recommended it: "Let's Meditate"
Adams Rubble: Being?
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: yes, Being and Representative being
Adams Rubble: :)
Eliza Madrigal: They don't say anything, hah, you just see their photo
Adams Rubble: ohhh
Eliza Madrigal: and they decide when it is over
Eliza Madrigal: it was intersting... not sure I'll do it often but I felt the support
Adams Rubble: what if you get an "all day" person?
Eliza Madrigal: good question! I suppose I'd have to duck out early then
Eliza Madrigal: I know you attend a buddhist group now, sometimes (?). Did they give you a regular practice in that sense?
Some Thoughts about Rubblebornthoughts, the past Ten Years or so and Love
Adams Rubble: I am on leave from the group for now
Adams Rubble: But yes, they have a 20 minute group meditation
Eliza Madrigal: Ah
Adams Rubble: I wanted some time to do my blog exploration
Adams Rubble: that has stalled though
Adams Rubble: I did the important parts
Eliza Madrigal: Were/are your intentions to go all the way through?
Adams Rubble: yes, and I will
Adams Rubble: not that far to go
Eliza Madrigal: really!
Adams Rubble: interestingly I am up to the time when I was reporting on RL group
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Adams Rubble: I have made two Word files of the whole thing
Eliza Madrigal: What are your strongest impressions so far?
Adams Rubble: I don't have an easy answer
Adams Rubble: Looking through has helped move beyond Pema
Adams Rubble: Lookingh at the explorations from a later perspective was interesting
Eliza Madrigal listens
Adams Rubble: I sometimes saw what he was trying to get us to see back then
Adams Rubble: Having learned a little more about Buddhism I could see some of the sources
Adams Rubble: funny, while doing this, I was realizing how much more there is to read- PaB Sessions, Pema's books on the Wiki, Chronicles...
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: we produced lots of words :)
Adams Rubble: nd sentences
Eliza Madrigal laughs
Adams Rubble: and paragraphs...
Eliza Madrigal: it was all a natural outpouring, with nudges along the way
Adams Rubble: yes
Eliza Madrigal: I remember feeling like every session ended on the verge of some breakthrough
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: "wait, need more time!"
Adams Rubble: reading the blog allowed me to watch my growth and at the same time see that I am same person
Adams Rubble: still trying to understand how to break through my reluctance to be more compassionate
Adams Rubble: at the same time made some progress on that score
Adams Rubble: I have recorded many of my thoughts in the most recent blog posts which have now slowed down :)
Adams Rubble: I guess I am sort of in a resting period
Eliza Madrigal: taste of acceptance?
Adams Rubble: hmm, have to think about that
Adams Rubble: unfamaliar concept :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I often feel like so much happened in so short a time that it will take the rest of my life to integrate, which is mostly a great fortune
Eliza Madrigal: I used to go to the words for nourishment and now the words are mostly the traces rather than source, if that makes sense
Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: may take the rest of one's life if one tried to read through all the remaining stuff
Eliza Madrigal grins
Adams Rubble: although i was surprised it was possible to read my blog
Eliza Madrigal: I find that surprising too actually
Adams Rubble: also surprised at how many spelling mistakes there are in the online version and how long I produced each post backwards
Bertram Arrives - we discuss role play
Adams Rubble: Hello bertram :)
Eliza Madrigal: Bertie!
Bertram Jacobus: hi pabers :-)
Bertram Jacobus: :-))
Eliza Madrigal: lovely to see you, looking newly groovy
Bertram Jacobus: hehe. ty. i was in an amazonas region and a bit like the indigenes there - and took at least the hair from there with me ... ;-)
Adams Rubble: :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bertram Jacobus: a roleplay area with around 10 sims or even a bit more
Eliza Madrigal: oh, neat
Eliza Madrigal: I always love the idea of running off and just playing in SL, but never seem to :))
Bertram Jacobus: but i didn´t want to disturb your talk ! what were you talking about, if i may ask (?) ... :-)
Adams Rubble: we were talking about the history of PaB :)
Bertram Jacobus: "never seem to" ? that means, you never do that but would like it eliza ? ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: words words words ^.^
Bertram Jacobus: ah. yes. okey ... ty adams for letting me know ...
Adams Rubble: sentences sentences senetnces
Eliza Madrigal: yes, I think I'm a vicarious player
Bertram Jacobus: what does that mean please, a "vicarious" player ? ...
Eliza Madrigal: Adams has kept a blog since the beginning of PaB, going through all the explorations
--BELL--
Bertram Jacobus: wow. okay ...
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, that I think I play through others' stories/experiences of play
Bertram Jacobus: is that complicated ?
Eliza Madrigal: the blog? it is fascinating to read really
Bertram Jacobus: no - to play trough others' stories / experiences was what i meant and wanted to ask, to know, to understand - how does that work ? ;-)
Adams Rubble: I think Eliza may be saying she listens to tohers' takes of their experiences
Bertram Jacobus: and i have some heavy lag sometimes, sorry ... also now ... not so optimal for communication ...
Adams Rubble: others
Adams Rubble: others' tales
Eliza Madrigal: oooh :) sorry. I just now realized that actually... in retrospect, that any time I've fully played in SL it was usually because someone took me along on their adventure. Like, Sunshine building things on the spot, etc. and yes, I very much live through others' tales :))
Bertram Jacobus: hmmm ... okay -
Adams Rubble slaps her typist's hands
Bertram Jacobus: ahhh - now i see - ty both ! :-)
Adams Rubble: I used to do much more playing in SL
Adams Rubble: have become a home body in SL :)
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Bertram Jacobus: i´m only exploring now and then , until today ... and then sometimes i meet also roleplay regions ...
Eliza Madrigal: heard from Aph yesterday, after a while
Eliza Madrigal: she is very involved in a role play sim
Eliza Madrigal: feels really at home in that
Bertram Jacobus: ah yes ? which kind of roleplay ?
Eliza Madrigal: historical... grand costumes and parties
Eliza Madrigal: Italian
Bertram Jacobus: i see ... ( smile ) ... :-)
Perfect Paradise
Eliza Madrigal: Did you go back to leading meditations, Bert?
Bertram Jacobus: i don´t spend so much time in here, but like it. again and again
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not on the list for PP, so I think I've been missing the boat
Bertram Jacobus: a bit, yes. on sundays. but last sunday i forgot to be there - very embarassing. but it was an extraordinary meeting in the offline dharma place where i live, so ...
Adams Rubble: PP?
Bertram Jacobus: ah - until now i even don´t write any invitations - helge only had annoounced that on the island i guess
Bertram Jacobus: and agers is always there and woly as often as her work allows it ...
Eliza Madrigal: oops, Perfect Paradise
Bertram Jacobus: it´s on sunday 12 noon slt
Eliza Madrigal: it is still sort of remarkable to me how effective SL meditations are
Bertram Jacobus: wow - good to read !
Adams Rubble nods
Bertram Jacobus: and yes - to me it helps that i have now years of experiences with that - that makes it much easier
Adams Rubble: next Sunday at noon there will be an Art History workshop. Dubrovna did not know there would be a conflict
Bertram Jacobus: for such a long time i was quite excited every time i "had to do" those meditation sessions ...
Bertram Jacobus: ah - no conflict (!) ... (?) ... ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: well the meditations are ongoing, but I do wonder whether it put them on the PaB calendar.... maybe too much pressure for Bertie
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Adams Rubble: where is perfect paradise?
Bertram Jacobus: but now ... it became more ... flexible on the one hand and with fixed parts on the other hands -
Adams Rubble: do you have a landmark?
Eliza Madrigal: Going through early blog notes, due to Adams doing that, reminded me that I was hosting meditations in SL before I was even a regular meditator myself
Bertram Jacobus: i give you a lm ... one moment pls ... adams :-)
Adams Rubble: yes I remember :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: What a magical land *^.^*
Bertram Jacobus: it´s really a wonderful sim !
Adams Rubble: Dakini and Isen days at the old Zen Tretreat
Bertram Jacobus: since a short while i visit it again, after a loong break ...
Eliza Madrigal: yes :)
Eliza Madrigal: PP is the same age as PaB, we often have birthday parties just a few weeks apart from one another
Bertram Jacobus: hehe. ah. yes :-)
Eliza Madrigal: lots of interesting parallels in the beginning
--BELL--
Bertram Jacobus: hmmm - may be that came from the founder - whom i didn´t got to know, sadly ... perfor or something like that was his nick (?) ...
Adams Rubble: congratulations on such a long lifetime for the project
Eliza Madrigal: Harpoon Dodger was his SL name
Adams Rubble: :)
Bertram Jacobus: yes - this founder stopped being in sl after a while but payed the rent for the whole sims over years for all the others / us ! ...
Bertram Jacobus: oops -
Adams Rubble: like pema :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes :)
Eliza Madrigal: he writes an interesting blog called How to Save the World still, and Pema just took a break from a blog to write a book, so...
Eliza Madrigal: :) case in point, I'm so vicarious, hah
Adams Rubble wonders how she never heard of this for ten years
Adams Rubble: I guess I have been a home body for longer than i thought
Eliza Madrigal: that's a good question... you may have at the edges now and again, lots of pabers were active there
Bertram Jacobus: and it was really special : at one celebration he came online and visited the island again ...
Eliza Madrigal: Miralee has really always been the main host, or, goddess of the island
Bertram Jacobus: but that has changed now very much ...
Bertram Jacobus: obviously
Eliza Madrigal: ah, didn't know... haven't peeked in in a very long time
Bertram Jacobus: since some people pay the rent now ...
Bertram Jacobus: i didn´t see her there yet again since i visit the sim again ...
Eliza Madrigal: oh, wow
Bertram Jacobus: and says mira wasn´t so dominant anymore ...
Bertram Jacobus: but may be, you don´t know helge - also a german. he was very much involved already since some years. he knows a lot about all the stuff happening there
Eliza Madrigal: She used to get so mad because people from PaB would run away every time there was a meeting :)
Eliza Madrigal: it was a compliment...we were excited and loyal
Bertram Jacobus: yes she was very intruiding. that was problematic ...
Bertram Jacobus: pushing
Adams Rubble: PaB had strong magnets in those days
Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: I'm still pretty stuck here, haha
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: yes
Bertram Jacobus: so ... everybody does his or her best ! ...
Adams Rubble: the anchor
Bertram Jacobus: but as we may know : all beings only want to be happy and avoid suffering ...
Eliza Madrigal: yes :))
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, I wrote this lovely thing down this week...
Bertram Jacobus: luckily !
Eliza Madrigal: It is a quote from a woman named Valerie Kaur
Bertram Jacobus: i´m so happy that still here are so nice, interesting and friendly people ! ... :-)
Adams Rubble: :)
Eliza Madrigal: "If love is a feeling, it 'happens to us', but if a labor, we can learn, practice, and become better at it."
Adams Rubble: yes, needing practice
Adams Rubble: we are such forgetful creatures :)
Eliza Madrigal: similar to the working hypothesis in a way
Eliza Madrigal: playing as Being
Bertram Jacobus: being contains love - at least that is the way i understand it ...
Adams Rubble: and sometimes we play at other things for a while
Eliza Madrigal: nice :)
Eliza Madrigal: speaking of which, I have to go play as student now
Adams Rubble: bye Eliza :)
Bertram Jacobus: we may become lost in relative, limited aspects, but we can´t loose being i´d say ...
Adams Rubble: I must go too
Bertram Jacobus: ok byee eliza
Adams Rubble: yes Bertram
Bertram Jacobus: and adams
Eliza Madrigal: thank you for a lovely session and good to see you both!!
Adams Rubble: nice seeing you both and thank you
Bertram Jacobus: same same : ty !
Eliza Madrigal: Will think about that more, Bert :)) thank you
Eliza Madrigal: bfn
Adams Rubble waves
