    Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Qt!
    Qt Core: Hi Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: How you is?
    Qt Core: alive ;-)
    Qt Core: you >
    Bruce Mowbray: nods.
    Qt Core: ?
Bruce Mowbray: I've spent a large part of this day cleaning up my hard drive . . .
Bruce Mowbray: I'm doing fine, thank you.
Bruce Mowbray: I don't know why Second Life insists on entering my chat offerings in a different order than I type them.
Bruce Mowbray: and things don't make any sense.
    Bruce Mowbray: oh well.
Bruce Mowbray: it often reverses the order . . .
Bruce Mowbray: it just did that again.
Bruce Mowbray: this time it skipped two lines.
Bruce Mowbray: what would you suggest?
Qt Core: only today or even on other days ?
Bruce Mowbray: it's very frequently the case that lines get reversed in order, for me anyway.
Bruce Mowbray: it's probably due to my Internet connection speed which is pretty slow.
Bruce Mowbray: So, have you made any cool astronomical observations lately?
Qt Core: no, but i had a friend of mine showing his pic of a visit to Iceland where he went mainly for the northern light
    Bruce Mowbray: ahhhh!
Bruce Mowbray: I have a friend in Alaska - Anchorage - who has talked about the northern lights. . . the Aurora Borealis.
Bruce Mowbray: sometimes we can even see it here in Ohio.
Bruce Mowbray: but that's pretty rare.
Qt Core: he loves to travel (and i think he does that for work too, look here: http://saimonphilips.blogspot.it/(in italian but the places names should be recognizable)
    Bruce Mowbray checks Qt's link.
Bruce Mowbray: Iceland would probably be a better place . . . if one's looking for northern lights.
    Bruce Mowbray: Saimon Philips....
Bruce Mowbray: oh dear... everything is in Italian.
Bruce Mowbray: Ho DOES get around, though!
Qt Core: yes, but the state names are easy to understand and the pics need no words
Qt Core: he was with me both in the Mediterranean and in the far east
Qt Core: (but he surely is a better photographer, almost a pro i would say)
Bruce Mowbray: today I was checking out the Good Country index. And the things Philip is interested in might also relate to that - - - I mean he could probably give you firsthand experience about what good countries and bad countries are:
    Bruce Mowbray: http://goodcountry.org/

    --BELL--

Bruce Mowbray: whoops. I see that I reversed his name: Saimon Philips.
Qt Core: don't know how it ended naming the blog that way as it is not his name, ok, it remind his first name but nothing more
Bruce Mowbray: okay... we like me to delete his last name from our wiki, then?
Bruce Mowbray: it's very easy for me to do that.
Qt Core: no, no need, the first name is similar, his last has nothing to do with Philips, really :-)
    Bruce Mowbray: kk.
Bruce Mowbray: (Can you hear people screaming in the background?)
Qt Core: no, only the usual birds
Bruce Mowbray: well, I could hear people screaming . . . and I thought maybe they were cheering for a football team....
Bruce Mowbray: now is quiet again.... just the fountain and the birds.
Qt Core: Colombia-Uruguay is in progress now
Bruce Mowbray: Columbia and Uruguay .. . .
    Bruce Mowbray: who's ahead?
Qt Core: tie 0 -0 mid of first half
Bruce Mowbray: Oh, I see now.
    Bruce Mowbray: 0-0.
    Bruce Mowbray: https://www.google.com/#q=World+Cup&safe=off
Bruce Mowbray: I was rooting for Germany to beat the United States on Thursday -- and they did!
Qt Core: well, Germany this year seems quite good, hard to admit that they are one of the most classic and hard adversary of Italy

    --BELL--

Bruce Mowbray: I just found a live blog for the Columbia/ Uruguay game: http://www.cbssports.com/world-cup/e...ruguay-preview
Qt Core: luckily we will not have to play against them ;-)
    Bruce Mowbray: :)
Qt Core: wow, Rodriguez just scored for Colombia (and he was already named the best player o f the first phase of the cup!
    Bruce Mowbray: WOW!
Bruce Mowbray: GOAL COLOMBIA - Wow, what a strike from James Rodriguez. Colombia is no longer just controlling play, it's controlling the scoreboard thanks to Rodriguez's fourth goal of the World Cup.

    Columbia_Rodriquez.png

Qt Core: doing well in a world cup may be worth a few million euros in next player transfer
Bruce Mowbray: "James Rodriguez has been the most dangerous man on the field for Colombia."
    Bruce Mowbray: nods.
Bruce Mowbray: Colombia 1, Uruguay 0
Qt Core: for most of the (soccer) world Colombia in soccer means this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCxe4r6SjH0 the scorpion kick by Rene Higuita
    Bruce Mowbray: remarkable goal-keeping, that!
Bruce Mowbray: a few years ago when I was in Oban, Scotland, I was out walking one night and suddenly the streets were full of shouting people -- and police cars!
Qt Core: more than that it is crazy, all in all his nickname was "El loco" (the mad one) but then, at least in Italy, is well known that goalkeepers have to be a little mad to be good
Bruce Mowbray: it seems that Scotland had just beaten France (I think it was).... and the whole town poured out of the pubs and into the streets. I'd never seen anything quite like it!
Bruce Mowbray: there is a whole lot of pressure on goalkeepers; that's for sure.
Qt Core: we have that a lot too (the worst part of world cup as i live in city center and get most of the car honking ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: so this World Cup thing -- it happens only once every four years?
Qt Core: yes, but with all the qualifying matches it take a couple years
    Bruce Mowbray: for sure.
Bruce Mowbray: so, in a way, it's like the Olympics . . .
Bruce Mowbray: (you can probably tell I'm not much of a sports fanatic.)
Qt Core: then the "other" pair years there is the continental cups
    Bruce Mowbray: ahhhh!
Qt Core: and every year, over the national leagues there are continental competitions for regular teams (called the champions league here in Europe)
    Bruce Mowbray: nods.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Bert!
    Qt Core: hi Bert!
    Bertram Jacobus: hi folks :-)
Bruce Mowbray: Qt and I have been talking about the World Cup. . .
    Bertram Jacobus: hehe. i see ... :-)
Bruce Mowbray: Columbia is ahead by one point over Paraguay.
    Bruce Mowbray: sorry - - Uruguay !
    Bertram Jacobus: ah. okay ...
    Bruce Mowbray: !!
    Bertram Jacobus: hehe. okay
Qt Core: (even if i should not as i should mourn the horrible elimination we ended up with)
Bertram Jacobus: hehe. ehm ... okay :o)

    --BELL--

Bruce Mowbray: On Thursday I was rooting for Germany  -- to beat the US -- and they did!!!
Bertram Jacobus: so you made it Bruce - but both reached the next level ! :-)
Bruce Mowbray: yes, into the final 16.
Bertram Jacobus: yes. Klinsmann may have helped a lot with that ?
Bruce Mowbray: Actually, Bert, I know nothing at all about the game or the players . . .
Bruce Mowbray: only what Qt has been teaching me.
Bertram Jacobus: ah sry - Klinsmann is a German and now coach of the u.s. team
    Bruce Mowbray: ahhhh!
    Bertram Jacobus: :-))
Qt Core: and was the coach of Germany in 2006
Bruce Mowbray: two world cups ago.
Bertram Jacobus: ah right. and the coach from today of the German team was the assistant of Klinsmann in 2006 if i don´t err ...
Bruce Mowbray: this is the first World Cup I can remember that Americans actually got interested - -- I mean, there's World Cup coverage in every news venue in America right now. . . I've never seen that before.
Qt Core: we would call it a "biscuit" (biscotto) when two teams would explicitly or not get to a result that would help both
    Qt Core: ;-)
    Bruce Mowbray: hmmm.
Qt Core: many Latinos in usa now and the u.s. team is getting better and better in the last 2/3 world cups
Bertram Jacobus: yes ! we hear a lot of that what happens in the u.s. right now related to soccer
Bruce Mowbray: yes, we call it soccer . . .
Bruce Mowbray: football of course is a whole different matter over here.
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Bertram Jacobus: supe. i know
    Bertram Jacobus: and baseball ...
Bertram Jacobus: and the nsa !
Qt Core: yes, a game where most of the time you could not use feet to touch the ball ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: yes baseball is our national sport. . . and basketball, too.
Bertram Jacobus: no nfl !? sry *giggle*
Bertram Jacobus: yes basketball was what i meant - nfl is football, right ?
Bruce Mowbray: professional football is very big - - - two years ago in Chicago I helped a man from Russia find his way to Jacksonville, Florida to see the Jaguars play.
Bruce Mowbray: yes NFL is all football.
    Bruce Mowbray: National Football League.
Bertram Jacobus: and how is the basketball association called ?
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm.
Bruce Mowbray: let me think a minute...
    Qt Core: nba
    Bruce Mowbray: NBA. Right, Qt!
Bertram Jacobus: great ! qt our sports specialist apparently ! :-)
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.nba.com
Bertram Jacobus: sry - brb ...
    Bruce Mowbray: kk.
Qt Core: years ago i loved to watch the LA Lakers, ie Magic Johnson
    Bruce Mowbray: Ahhh!
    Bruce Mowbray: I admire him.
Bruce Mowbray: Magic took the high road, while O.J. Simpson took the low.
Bruce Mowbray: (different sports of course.)
Qt Core: i usually like any athlete that uses his/her brain and seems to enjoy his sport
    Bruce Mowbray: nods, agrees.
Bruce Mowbray: so, are we at the half now -- in the Columbia/ Uruguay game?
Qt Core: yes should start again in 5 or a little more time
Bertram Jacobus: sry - i leave. it was only a short visit. excuse me pls ...
    Bruce Mowbray: kk,
Bruce Mowbray: I also must leave.
Qt Core: bye Bert, have fun
    Bruce Mowbray: Thank you both.
Bertram Jacobus: ty for your company and your time !
Bruce Mowbray: I learned a few things about FUTBOL!
Bertram Jacobus: may all beings be happy ... *wave*
    Qt Core: :-)
Bruce Mowbray: May you and Qt be happy.
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye for now.
    Qt Core: Bye
