The Guardian for this meeting was Maxine Walden. The comments are by Maxine Walden.
This session was spent mostly in silence, which as I first sat alone in the Pavilion for maybe 10 minutes felt wonderful as a space for musing. Then others joined and still the overall mood was of stillness; it took me a few minutes to realize this was the essence of the session, and that my efforts to steer or direct it were not the most creative of endeavors. Actually it was a lovely session to be part of, though the reading of it may not convey that same sense.
Maxine Walden: musing on a quiet Easter early afternoon, SLT. Hoping others are having enjoying repose, quietude, reflection...
Maxine Walden: This s space for musing which right now means space to let those only partially formed thought gain form, depth and perhaps meaning...
After about 10 minutes, Qt joined me
Qt Core: Hi Maxine
Maxine Walden: hi, Qt, nice to see you
Qt Core: How is life going ?
Maxine Walden: I was just musing...and allowing half formed thoughts to gain space...but good to see you
Maxine Walden: I am find, and life is good. How about for you?
Maxine Walden: It is spring where I am and finally the weather is believing it
Qt Core: just waiting the end of a low profile easter
Maxine Walden: low profile easter, by choice or occurrence?
And then Liza came
Liza Deischer: hi Max,Qt :)
Qt Core: here we had a few days a couple days ago when spring thought to be summer
Maxine Walden: hi, Liza
Qt Core: hi liza
Maxine Walden: ah, :) QT
Qt Core: both i would say
Maxine Walden: How is life, Liza? We are just musing the easter day...quiet time
Liza Deischer: life is okay, thanks, and today was good :)
Maxine Walden: ah, great!
Maxine Walden: I was earlier musing how often during rushed time my thoughts don't have time nor space to really form and emerge...and sometimes only when there is quiet can they do so...Sound familiar?
Liza Deischer: pondering
Maxine Walden: :)
Liza Deischer: not sure actually, maybe they merge in a different way
--BELL--
Liza Deischer: I do know that I need time every day for myself to let all thoughts come by again
Qt Core: i would say "no more pressing issues" instead of quiet
Liza Deischer: I need to be quiet
Maxine Walden: each 90 sec pause is a chance for thoughts to cohere...meanings to emerge..
Qt Core: as i found that time mostly while driving, to or from work as i can go almost on autopilot
Liza Deischer: not necessarily in meditation, but quiet
Qt Core: and then a word out of a song may make me focus on something
Maxine Walden: hmm, to both...sort of away from pressure and distraction?
Liza Deischer: I think there are different levels of 'quality' if it comes to quietness, and quietness doesn't always need to refer to a quiet environment
Liza Deischer: it's more like where you put your focus on
Qt Core: many distraction there.. all the other car so i have to keep being distracted for my own safety :-)
Maxine Walden: yes, where attention goes?
Maxine Walden: :) Qt
Hokon then came shortly followed by Issakar.
Hokon Cazalet: AHH!!!!
Liza Deischer: hi Hokon
Hokon Cazalet: hiya
Qt Core: Hi Hokon
Maxine Walden: hi, Hokon
Liza Deischer: yes, but starting with that, it's recommended to create a quiet place :)
Liza Deischer: or one your mind can 'handle'
Liza Deischer: but I find that my thoughts go less 'deep' while driving or doing the dishes
Issakar Mefusula: Greetings.
Qt Core: Hi Issakar
Liza Deischer: there seems to be less space
Maxine Walden: we are musing on quietude, attention, and other elements...
Liza Deischer: hi Issakar
Maxine Walden: hi, Issakar
Hokon Cazalet: hi issakar
There were some inquiries as to our topic...
Issakar Mefusula: What is being discussed?
Liza Deischer: shhhhht :)
Maxine Walden: attentiveness, quietude, and a few other things...
Hokon Cazalet: ok
Maxine Walden: :)
Liza Deischer: just kidding :)
Hokon Cazalet didnt know the topic either =P
Issakar Mefusula: ;-)
Issakar Mefusula: Oh, I just entered.
Maxine Walden: also maybe ponderings about spring (for most of us probably) and even for some Easter
Hokon Cazalet: eggs . . .
Maxine Walden: :))
Hokon Cazalet: =)
Maxine Walden: the time and space for quiet creative thought?
Maxine Walden: a couple of minutes til a 90 sec pause. Anyone want to propose something for us to attend to during the pause?
Liza Deischer: sorry, too tired to be even quiet :)
Maxine Walden: oh! sorry to impose...
--BELL--
Liza Deischer: not really what I meant so np :)
Maxine Walden: :)
Liza Deischer: but it's nice to listen to the birds and the water for a while
Liza Deischer: :)
Maxine Walden: yes, agree
Liza Deischer: some sounds are disruptive, others seem to be soothing
Maxine Walden: yes, some jar, others comfort
Qt Core: i sadly already have to leave (i love the birds, btw)
Maxine Walden: thanks for coming Qt, nice to see you
Liza Deischer: see you QT :)
Qt Core: bye all and have... quiet :-)
Liza Deischer: :)
--BELL--
Some discussion...
Liza Deischer: I'm merging now :)
Maxine Walden: oh?
Liza Deischer: when it's quiet the day passes bye, get through all kinds of filters, after that seeing if it fits somewhere
Liza Deischer: on an almost unconscious level
Liza Deischer: and when if fits, I can drop it
Maxine Walden: I'd be interested in hearing more, Liza, if you care to
Liza Deischer: hard to say what happens
Maxine Walden: ah, of course...
Liza Deischer: but I found out I basically seems to think in feelings
Liza Deischer: all day I'm translating feelings to words, and at the end of the day I seem to need to translate the words back
Liza Deischer: and with feelings I don't mean emotions
Maxine Walden: think I understand that, thinking in feelings...:) ah, feelings differ from emotions for you?
Liza Deischer: yes
Liza Deischer: emotions are translated feelings, as words are to me
Liza Deischer: it's place is high up in the body
Liza Deischer: chest and head mosty
Liza Deischer: mostly
Liza Deischer: feelings are more grounded
Liza Deischer: that's how I 'feel' it :)
Maxine Walden: hmm, very interesting
Liza Deischer: can't describe though what 'feelings' are to me
Liza Deischer: but the process at the end of the day is a settling process
Maxine Walden: no need...it is so interesting to me to get a sense of how each of us experiences things, and describes what we feel and experience. No 'right' of course, just unique ways of experiencing the world and noting it, as I currently see things
Maxine Walden: so thanks for sharing that1
Liza Deischer [Ish] nods
Liza Deischer: yw :)
Maxine Walden: :)
Lots of quiet, we just listening to the birds, and the fountain, and our own thoughts, together and yet each in our own space, as it were...
Maxine Walden: very nice to just share quiet, not have to talk, to fill the space with other than what feels genuine
Liza Deischer: :)
Hokon Cazalet: =)
After maybe 30 minutes more of silence Liza leaves
Liza Deischer: though I'm very tired, I feel appealed to go to another meeting :)
Liza Deischer: so will quietly leef you in quietness :)
Hokon Cazalet: =)
Hokon Cazalet: byebyes
Maxine Walden: Lovely to see you, Liza, bye for now
Liza Deischer: bye
And then I go too.
Maxine Walden: I will be needing to go as well. It has felt like a quiet time, nicely shared. Thanks for sharing it, Hokon and Issakar
Hokon Cazalet: your welcome =) have a good rest of the day
Maxine Walden: hope to see you both again soon :)
Hokon Cazalet: =)
Maxine Walden: bye for now
Reflecting back, it seemed like a wonderful way to share a quiet Easter afternoon.
