The Guardian for this meeting was stevenaia Michinaga. The comments are by stevenaia Michinaga.
stevenaia Michinaga: hi Daedalus
stevenaia Michinaga: welcome
Daedalus687 Resident: Hi! :)
stevenaia Michinaga: hi Luci
Daedalus687 Resident: Nice outfit :)
stevenaia Michinaga: :), yours too
stevenaia Michinaga: typing must be quite a feat
Daedalus687 Resident: lol
Eliza Madrigal: we;re all sitting in back cushions today?
Earlier Daedalus687 Resident came to a WG meeting....
stevenaia Michinaga: we were having a "Working Group" meeting, part of the structure of PaB to keep the group functioning somewhat smoothly, the minutes are on the Wiki if you wish to read about it
Lucinda Lavender: taking some space
Eliza Madrigal: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: some things we discuss are not for immediate release
Daedalus687 Resident: I understand
Eliza Madrigal: :) So Daedalus, TSK brings you to PaB?
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks
Lucinda Lavender: Luci listens
stevenaia Michinaga: Didn't you attend the WoK workshops Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: yes... as many as I could possibly do
Eliza Madrigal: I reorganized my entire life to attend several :)
stevenaia Michinaga: smiles
Daedalus687 Resident: It did Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: are you familiar with the kira summer schools, or just happen upon the book, D?
Daedalus687 Resident: I happened across the book just perusing the shelves at the University of Florida.
Daedalus687 Resident: From just browsing
Eliza Madrigal: wonderful happenstance
Daedalus687 Resident: Yes very much
Eliza Madrigal: I live in Florida as well, but toward the bottom :)
Daedalus687 Resident: lol, yea I live in Indian River County
Eliza Madrigal: Bruce has been mentioning TSK too and I'd be really happy to take part in another discussion group about it
Eliza Madrigal: what are you struck by?
Daedalus687 Resident: Well, I think it was its harmonizing ability as a auxillary way of knowing
Daedalus687 Resident: And as a system it seem pretty flawless sometimes
Eliza Madrigal: from what background did you come to it?
Daedalus687 Resident: What do you mean?
Eliza Madrigal: not meaning to ask a very personal question. The founder of the group, Piet/Pema, really took to the book, as a scientist...
Daedalus687 Resident: Ah
Eliza Madrigal: for him it was a life changing read
Daedalus687 Resident: I would said that also in a manner
Daedalus687 Resident: But after a transcendental experience.
Eliza Madrigal: so you worked with the explorations?
Daedalus687 Resident: By explorations you mean?
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: (pauses)
Eliza Madrigal: the book is separated by writing and then activities
Eliza Madrigal: some skip the activities, or try to...but I think they're very alive and interesting
Eliza Madrigal: not doing the exercises is like not pausing, here :)
Daedalus687 Resident: Oh. Well, at first I attempted to parse it out on an intellectual level, reading the book maybe 5 or so times. I then discovered as the book mentions, that you have to take the one two three path yourself.
Eliza Madrigal: 5 times!
Daedalus687 Resident: Yup@
Eliza Madrigal: the first time I read... I felt so interested but nothing was seeming to take... I was understanding nada
Eliza Madrigal: not entering in...
Eliza Madrigal: so I took the book outside and read aloud
Eliza Madrigal: and changed settings a lot
Eliza Madrigal: it was more like being around a person than dealing with a book :)
Eliza Madrigal: would you say more about one two three path? I'm not sure I remember that
Daedalus687 Resident: I don't know that it is a prescription unto itself, just a metaphor imploring that 'I' 'We' have to follow a process.
Daedalus687 Resident: And 'see' for ourselves
Eliza Madrigal: "see" sounds so different when considering TSK
Eliza Madrigal: Steven used to come into SL on a regular basis for a while, but not now
Daedalus687 Resident: For a time, I was confused how a person that didnt have a command of english could write this, so I saw it is a ghostwriter, which lead me to steven which lead me here
Eliza Madrigal: yes, he was a close student of Tarhang Tulku
Eliza Madrigal: he still teaches in Berkeley
Eliza Madrigal: a few of his RL students also, attended the workshops... maybe it would be interesting to have our own
Eliza Madrigal: a TSK group, for a little while...go through the book together
Daedalus687 Resident: That would be illuminating, as some of the future prospects and applications hinted at are quite extraordinary in potential.
Eliza Madrigal: It seems you are so deeply acquainted with the material.. I'd love to hear more
Eliza Madrigal: I love the book also, and have learned so much from Steven
Eliza Madrigal: Stevie still here?
stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I wonder if you read the Dragon's Play book, Stevie?
stevenaia Michinaga: I read it on the plane from florida, then sadly I left it in the seat pocket, emailed the "lost and found" and never head again, sorry, a sad tail of a gift
Eliza Madrigal: aw... :::weeps::::
stevenaia Michinaga: would ahve loved to read it again, a short book
stevenaia Michinaga: I'm sure it brought joy to someone else
Daedalus687 Resident: lol, well maybe the person who happened on it is inspired
Eliza Madrigal: :) its okay... someone else must have happened upon it .. yes
Daedalus687 Resident: lol
stevenaia Michinaga: a reason for everything
stevenaia Michinaga: but I felt bad
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: no need.. I did wonder your impressions though, as a Tao student
Eliza Madrigal: (funny as it is to say 'tao student")
... edit
Eliza Madrigal: have you found his teaching audios online?
Eliza Madrigal: he is supposed to begin a new semester tonight actually
Daedalus687 Resident: No actually, a straight search didn't lead me well
Eliza Madrigal: let me get them for you... I don't share them often since he isn't one to publicize himself
Eliza Madrigal: but I can tell how much you connect with him, in a sense
Eliza Madrigal: one moment
Eliza Madrigal: http://media.berkeleymonastery.org/steven/
stevenaia Michinaga: RE: Book (Eliza's RL gift to me) ...dDifficult to say my thoughts, as the first read so long ago and ran through it,, hoping to saviour it the next time I read it, sometimes there is no next time
Eliza Madrigal: ah, thanks Stevenaia
stevenaia Michinaga: I seem to remember one of Steven's courses online in video form
Eliza Madrigal: so this page will have new audios, though sometimes it is weeks before they appear
Eliza Madrigal: I found something like that too... but it didn't work for me
Eliza Madrigal: I've been listening to these audios all these years... hm, going on 5 now
Eliza Madrigal: always new and substantive
Eliza Madrigal: I'd frankly love to go through the ethics course with a group of people also
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: but I need to go... some trouble with my eyes and they are watering now
Eliza Madrigal: pleasure to meet you Daedelus... I hope we can share more soon
stevenaia Michinaga: aww, so I should remove the link ELiza?
Eliza Madrigal: thanks Stevie! hugs
Eliza Madrigal: I think so... always a tough call
stevenaia Michinaga: it's on the web
Eliza Madrigal: true
Daedalus687 Resident: :) you too, Ill be round
stevenaia Michinaga: but ok
Eliza Madrigal: actually leave that part in and just take out health stuff
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks, I will
Eliza Madrigal: someone has to be pretty weird to read PaB logs anyway :P
Eliza Madrigal: hehehe
Daedalus687 Resident: lol
stevenaia Michinaga: you do
stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Eliza Madrigal: yeah... I do
Eliza Madrigal: thats how I know
Eliza Madrigal: Night friends
stevenaia Michinaga: so how does TSK and PaB link that you found this group?
Daedalus687 Resident: On a wiki, it was drawing out work done with Piet
Daedalus687 Resident: Play as Being is actually a phrased used in the book
stevenaia Michinaga: aww, quite the investigator, did you happen to see the very early logs I mentioned earlier, my first PaB meeting was Stim (steven) and Pema talking
Daedalus687 Resident: A bit, but I was having trouble linking them honestly.
Daedalus687 Resident: Which makes sense kinda in this format
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: it can be a tough read, sometimes I have my computer read them to me, then the "names" disappear into the backround and you get a better flow of the conversation
Daedalus687 Resident: hmm
Daedalus687 Resident: What insight did you glean from these first conversations?
stevenaia Michinaga: it was totally foreign, yet interesting enough to come back for more figuring there was something there to be found
stevenaia Michinaga: I remember Pema asking after the first session if I understood what they were talking about, I think I tracked down my first meeting... when I was interviewed as part of the PaB Chronicles, let me look
stevenaia Michinaga: somewhere in here - http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Chronicles/Chapter_07%3a_Autumn/D._Stevenaia
Daedalus687 Resident: let me look here
stevenaia Michinaga: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Chat_Logs/2008/04/2008.04.26_07%3a00_-_Insecurity
stevenaia Michinaga: Not steven's session,
stevenaia Michinaga: enjoy the logs, I must go, hope to see you again
Daedalus687 Resident: :)
Daedalus687 Resident: Bye for now
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: bye
