The Guardian for this meeting was Wol.

    Wol Euler: timezone-appropriate greetings, Raffi
Raffila Millgrove: lol Hi Wol. is it morning time now for you?
    Wol Euler: 10am
Raffila Millgrove: I am on SL time so i never worry... what is time as it's always same as me. in california.
    Wol Euler: very handy!
Raffila Millgrove: ah did you have breakfast already then.
Wol Euler: though I seldom have any confusion about SL time, I've internalized it and always know the California time
Wol Euler: yes, had my muesli and the coffee is perking
    Qt Core: Hi all
    Wol Euler: buongiorni, qt

    --BELL--

Raffila Millgrove: hey everyone. nice to see you Adamns, and QT
    Wol Euler: good not-quite-morning-yet, adams
Adams Rubble rubs eyes. Hello everyone
    Qt Core: :-)
Adams Rubble: I almost forgot how to tp here this morning
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Adams Rubble: what's happening?
Wol Euler: so far just sitting companionably
    Adams Rubble: ahhh

Wol Euler: we might spend some of the time on an appreciation of the life and works of Leonard Nimoy, recently departed
Wol Euler: geeky as we all are
Raffila Millgrove: i can contribute something to that from first hand.
    Wol Euler: please do
    Qt Core: >:-)

Raffila Millgrove: where i live we have this amazing Griffith park Observatory. built in the 30's. incredible telescope and ... archtectural wonder.. perched high in Hollywood Hills.
Raffila Millgrove: part of Park that was given to the City with the tighest bequeath ever written. it is for the people.. the city can never charge anything to anyone wishing to use it. you walk into this oberservaqtory for example. free. parking. free.
Wol Euler remembers "Rebel without a cause"
Raffila Millgrove: Leonard Nimoy gave millions when the observatory had to be retrofitted for earthquake and completely redone. they actually lifted it up.. and built below it. i met the guy.... they've named the theater/exhibit hall they built Under .. after him... he gave all his major money for this. I was amazed how much he gave and why.
    Wol Euler smiles.

Raffila Millgrove: It was such a privilege to meet this guy... he was so low key and modest and .. generous. I covered the obervatory for my newspaper.
    Adams Rubble: :)

Qt Core: (liking this so much being a trekker and an loving astronomy)
Wol Euler: that is great, raffi
Raffila Millgrove: yeah it turned out he fell in love with it too... and wanted to support education for everyone ... there are so many things that were made possible by his contribution.
Raffila Millgrove: by the standards out here in Hollywood. he was not a rich guy but he gave.. so much. both personally and in the millions.
Raffila Millgrove: and i think most people wouldn't know this so i am very happy to share it with you.
    Wol Euler nods.
    Adams Rubble: thank you
Wol Euler: I certainly didn't. Thank you

Raffila Millgrove beams brightly and tries to give that trekkie finger salute.
Wol Euler has been practicing it :)
Wol Euler: oh I wonder if there's a gesture of it on the marketplace ...

Qt Core: this morning i tweeted this In space / stars shine / Spock and Nimoy (i'm trying my hand at micropoetry to wich i may add #sillypoetry)
Raffila Millgrove: oh nice one QT!
    Wol Euler smiles.
Qt Core: at least there is this \\// or variation of it
Wol Euler: I hoped there'd be a gesture that would hold up one's hand appropriately, but no

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: so \\// it is
Qt Core: are the finger managed separately in SL ?
    Qt Core: https://twitter.com/WhiteHouse/statu...125696/photo/1
    Wol Euler: they can be
    Wol Euler: most animations don't
Raffila Millgrove: wow what a great photo!
Raffila Millgrove: ty for the link.
Qt Core: it weird me out a little seeing that salute with so bright and illogic smiles ;-)
    Wol Euler smiles.

Wol Euler: Rule 1 of the Internets: don't read the comments
Qt Core: Rule 2 don't read the article/know the topic before commenting
    Wol Euler: ha
Adams Rubble: yes, don;t read the comments
    Adams Rubble: geeez

Wol Euler: I loved the original Star Trek, I watched it every day. Spock was a large part of my enjoyment of it. In a way he showed me how to be both geeky and honest
Raffila Millgrove: i read the poem. there was one of his last tweet, a wonderful poem from his book.
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: wb
    Adams Rubble: wb qt
    Raffila Millgrove: wb qt

Wol Euler: my school life at that time was miserable, I was a curious and thoughtful child in a place and time that scorned both. Seeing Spock being himself was in a way reassuring
    Qt Core: ty
Wol Euler: (Kirk was just a jackass, he was the future of all the people who scorned me)
    Qt Core: :-)
Wol Euler: I got a second burst of admiration for him just last year, when I discovered an interview with him _in yiddish _ on youtube. I hadn't known, hadn't even thought about it, but it made perfect sense. I admired the way he talked about himself and his childhood
Wol Euler: he was able to play the vulcan among humans because he did that every day as a child, jew among the goyim
    Wol Euler: (done)
    Adams Rubble: thank you Wol

Qt Core: putting things i perspective: http://www.wimp.com/universeperspective/
Adams Rubble: He seems like one of the good guys
Adams Rubble is ready to go back to sleep
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Adams Rubble: goodnight everyone

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: goodnight, adams, sweet dreams
Raffila Millgrove: bye ADams . see you later today hopefully.
    Qt Core: bye Adams
Raffila Millgrove: Ah it's getting late for me now.. here in Cali.. so.. i think I will say bye til later as well. hugs to you both!
Wol Euler: goodnight, raffi, thanks for stopping by
Raffila Millgrove: ty for hosting us Wol.
    Qt Core: bye Raffila
Qt Core: i have his second autobiography, titled "I'm Spock" even if i haven't read it, i may need to buy his first one, "I'm not Spock" wrote when he was hating to be recognized only for that character
    Wol Euler smiles.

Wol Euler: there#s a nice kind of progress suggested in those titles
    Wol Euler: a coming-to-terms
Qt Core: and having accomplished pther things in the meanwhile helped too
    Qt Core: (i suppose)
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: above all else another of those death that make you feel old ;-)
    Wol Euler: yes, so true
Wol Euler: it puts people and age in perspective
Wol Euler: he was actually younger than my father, by one year

    --BELL--

Qt Core: sometimes a vulcan mind would be good, no problems (or at least no visible ones) with emotions and attachment (or bad habits)
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: there's a photo on FB of Spock and Kirk eating what looks like birthday cake in their uniforms. They look so young!
Qt Core: (but then you discover they just hide it but still have all of that baggage ;-) )
Qt Core: there are many, and having fun too
Qt Core: i need to go and today is mandatory... Live long and prosper (or, as Nimoy signed most of his tweet LLAP)
Wol Euler: you too, dear qt
Wol Euler: live long and prosper
