I love the phrase from Luci: taking enoughness to heart. It reminds me of the yearly focuses that Eden and I take, which reminds me that I am nearing the 5 year mark of my 55 conscious breaths commitment, and considering what will be next.
Today I think I accomplished something that may have significant cumulative value, which is that, if it ultimately turns out well, I have learned to make a dish I often crave, that costs me three times as much to buy. edited 19:59, 6 Dec 2014
Please say more about your conscious breaths commitment Eliza-- I am looking for ways to stay in the present. And possibly send the recipe for the dish. :-) edited 20:31, 6 Dec 2014
I'm pondering (in depth) the implications of "personal investment" as we wander through our "worlds." I've just finished watching my friend Steve's high school football team lose it's bid to enter the Pennsylvania state championship. Although Steve's team was winning into the 4th Quarter, the other guys pulled it out. . . (alas! ---- https://twitter.com/WilsonBulldogs ) My "investment" was deeper than wanting a mere "win." This one was for Steve. I'm hearing that he was there, in person, at the game in Altoona, PA - while it rained continuously. I am grateful he could be there, although not so much grateful for the cold rain. This will probably be the last Bulldog's game my friend will be able (alive) to attend. Steve has asked me to place some of his cremains onto the Wilson Bulldog's playing field in West Lawn, PA. What is my investment in football games? (of which I have had NONE for 7 decades.) What is my investment in Steve, himself? What is my investment in Wilson High School football (which, except for Steve, I'd never even heard of)? Do such 'investments' alter how I "experience" "my" world(s)? Of course they do! They bring vitality and diversity to my life-experience. Today, I am grateful to have such emotional/personal/existential/irrational investments. edited 21:24, 6 Dec 2014
Sure, Aph. Earlier in the year I answered the question for Wol actually ( too exhaustively - Alfred would have said tl;dr ):

As for the recipe, with adaptations, it is found: http://thaifood.about.com/od/thaicurrydishes/r/Thai-Massaman-Chicken-Curry.htm
Can substitute tofu for chicken if one likes without much difference, and I left out the shrimp paste. I also added frozen cauliflower/broccoli/carrots. Mine is still missing something, and I think it is avocado, which they throw in at the restaurant I frequent.
It still turned out *really* well. I said to my son that it tastes better the more I eat. He answered that this was an impossibility (never happens), but as far as I can tell it is true. :)
Beautiful rosemary, Aph. And want to say that Bruce, although I feel inadequate to comment, your journey with your friend is lovely. edited 21:13, 6 Dec 2014
Eliza reminds me I didn't even start yet my list of 100 accomplishments of 2014. I have been doing that for a few years and it's a wonderful exercice. I list small things as well as big things. The biggest thing this year would be going back to driving a car after decades of not driving. The fear is magically gone and it feels great to be able to drive myself places, to drive my own life!
