I find that I grateful for something when I loose something else... searching for examples, grateful for hearing when your hearing in is diminished, grateful for food when your plate is empty. the yin and yang of gratefulness.

I'm grateful that Dr. Howard Markel answered my email thanking him for his research and accuracy on PBS Newshour's Washington Deathbed segment and his excellent article on the PBS web site. I have attached a photo of his response.

An afternoon out in the woods

Contrasts: yesterday night, shamanic circle. journeying into netherworlds to meet the spirit of the winter solstice. Tea lights moving up and down, back and forth into the darkness as we sit down, silent, in the circle, after expressing in a magical gesture what we are ready to let go.

This afternoon, walking down the aisles of a temple of consumerism.

I think it is great that you take the time to follow up on connecting with those you appreciate, Bruce, and that is quite the temple, Eden. Hope you get some rest after that. :)

It is both wonderful and scary to reach one's mid-forties with just enough self-awareness to glimpse how much one hasn't learned and simply cannot consider, in so many realms. It is wonderful because that unknowing is the fuel to be alive... humility to fathom the life; it is scary because one actually realizes they are missing so many truly important and necessary elements...
