Is very grateful for my sister, a seriously amazing woman. She is having surgery today. This one is not as dangerous as the two brain surgeries she has had, but any surgery carries risk. My thoughts and prayers are with her.
Long day, very long post office line too, but a smiling-eyes man who could have been cast as a zen monk in a classic film, walked up at the end of it, remarking that I was having so much fun with the kids, he had to convince himself I was the mom. :) The last few days have taken on some kind of magic momentum, with random kindnesses and uncanny openings, and I feel very thankful for that, following a few weeks that were more bumpy.
This Inuit woman at the bus stop, a big bump in the hood of her parka. We are trying to guess if there is a baby in there. It's snowing quite heavily and the hood is completely closed. As she is sitting in the bus, there is some movement in the bump. It is certainly alive, what is it? The passengers are mesmerized. The Inuit woman opens the hood and a baby head with black hair emerges, crying a bit. The woman rocks gently back and forth on her seat. The baby quiets down. My friend says: "I guess our world tour has already started".
