I arrived to greet Adams Rubble, Pila Mulligan, Corvuscorva Nightfire with Sylectra Darwin following shortly after.
buddha Nirvana arrives with a little friend
Adams Rubble: Hello Steve, Corvi :)
stevenaia Michinaga: hello adams, Corvi
Adams Rubble: Hello Pila :)
stevenaia Michinaga: evening Pila
stevenaia Michinaga: Corvi, come up front and join us
Pila Mulligan: greetings
Adams Rubble glad Corvi is there to catch us by the neck if we start to fall into the fountain :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hiya!
Corvuscorva Nightfire: ha

Pila Mulligan: :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Yay!
stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: (are we meditating?)
Pila Mulligan: we are quiet, so perhaps :)
stevenaia Michinaga: I just got home, it was snowing slush tonight
Pila Mulligan: will it freeze tonight Steve?
stevenaia Michinaga: no, meting and raining
Pila Mulligan: ahh, better than ice
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, it;s warming
Pila Mulligan: I lived in Des Moines for a while before moving here and I remember well those icy roads
Sylectra Darwin's dress was captivating with comments from everyone.
Adams Rubble: Hello buddha
Corvuscorva Nightfire: hiya, Buddha!
Pila Mulligan: hi buddha and tinkerbell
buddha Nirvana: Halo" :))
stevenaia Michinaga: ice, or volcanic ash, tough choice
Pila Mulligan: :)
Adams Rubble: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: tinker bell... who brought her?
buddha Nirvana: ah, she seems to fly around me
Adams Rubble: :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hiya, Sylectra!
Pila Mulligan: hi Sylectra
Adams Rubble: Hello Syl. Long time no see :)
Sylectra Darwin: hiya!
stevenaia Michinaga: hey Sylectra
Sylectra Darwin: It's true, good to see you
Sylectra Darwin: Hey Steven. :)
Pila Mulligan: what an outfit!
Corvuscorva Nightfire: wow
Sylectra Darwin: I am very tired and think I am getting a sore throat so I might not be able to stay long.
Sylectra Darwin: Thanks!
Sylectra Darwin: This is an Eshi original.
Sylectra Darwin: She's an SL designer friend.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: itsss.....crazy amazing.
stevenaia Michinaga: to much shopping?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: amazing
Sylectra Darwin: ...sick kids
Sylectra Darwin: Hello buddha, do you have a fairy?
buddha Nirvana: Hi :) it would seem so..
buddha Nirvana: :)
Pila Mulligan: Tinkerbell no less
Sylectra Darwin: grins
Sylectra Darwin: she's cute
Sylectra Darwin: Wow, Steve, you have such a nice crowd on Wednesdays!
Adams Rubble: Yes the dress is lovely, Syl :)
stevenaia Michinaga: feel free to send the pic to the log, whoever took it
stevenaia Michinaga: well we are just preparing for your session tomorrow
Corvuscorva Nightfire: that was me..but i don't know how to post pictures.
Sylectra Darwin: snorts
Sylectra Darwin: excellent!
Sylectra Darwin: there will be a pop quiz you know.
Pila Mulligan: :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire grins.
Sylectra Darwin: thank you Corvi!
Corvuscorva Nightfire, Adams Rubble and Sylectra Darwin depart and computer talk continues with Pile Mulligan
Pila Mulligan: how do you send a picture to the log?
stevenaia Michinaga: once you have a picture on your computer, you can load it into any wiki at the bottom there is a picture load button
Sylectra Darwin: do you have automatic uploads set up to go to Flickr through an e-mail address?
Sylectra Darwin: Oh, Steve's way is easier.
Pila Mulligan: ahh me, I'm such a useless geezer in these techie things
Sylectra Darwin: A cute geezer :)
Pila Mulligan: I'm still trying to figure out if I am registred n the wiki :)
stevenaia Michinaga: it works
Pila Mulligan: than Syl, but no match for those peacock feathers :)
Sylectra Darwin: Here's what you do: just send it to one of us and we'll do it. :)
Pila Mulligan: thanks*
Pila Mulligan: ok
stevenaia Michinaga: haha
stevenaia Michinaga: I have it corvi, thank you
Sylectra Darwin: Eshi's a good cause. She's an immigrant and if she cannot get enough art work she will have to go back.
stevenaia Michinaga: back to where?
Sylectra Darwin: She's from Eastern Europe.
Sylectra Darwin: http://www.eshiotawara.com/
Sylectra Darwin: In other news, I just bought a Macbook. :)
Pila Mulligan: are you using it now?
Pila Mulligan: with SL, I mean
stevenaia Michinaga: the graphics are much better
Sylectra Darwin: Actually, I am on my desktop at the moment. But I used it earlier today for note-taking.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: better than what?
Sylectra Darwin: My Acer laptop died :(
Corvuscorva Nightfire: mine isn't all that good compared with Ades...
Corvuscorva Nightfire: my macbook, I mean..
Sylectra Darwin: Ade, what do you have?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Adelene has a really nice moniter...among other things.
stevenaia Michinaga: than my old Powerbook, SL missed a line, I jst bought a MacBook Pro
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Sylectra Darwin: oh sorry, she's not in the room at the moment, hehe
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Sweetie has one of those...and the Pro is better than my macbook.
Sylectra Darwin: oooo, Steven!
Pila Mulligan: don't Macs use a Unix system?
Sylectra Darwin: Nos has a Macbook pro too.
stevenaia Michinaga: somewere under the hood
Pila Mulligan: and they work okay with SL?
Pila Mulligan: or is that what you meant by better graphics?
stevenaia Michinaga: well it didn;t yesterday , but it's running fine today
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, better than my old laptop
Adams Rubble: SL seems to be an equal opportunity crasher
Pila Mulligan: my old windows 200 machine is actually rusting, it may be time to replace it
Pila Mulligan: 2000*
stevenaia Michinaga: SL runs on that?
Corvuscorva Nightfire pictures a rusting computer...
Corvuscorva Nightfire: yes.
Pila Mulligan: yes
Corvuscorva Nightfire: but not well.
Pila Mulligan: so true
Corvuscorva Nightfire first ran it on a 2000
Sylectra Darwin: wow
Corvuscorva Nightfire: a looong time ago on another account since destroyed.
buddha Nirvana: Thank you, nite all :))
Adams Rubble: night buddha :)
Pila Mulligan: bye buddha and tinkerbell
Corvuscorva Nightfire: nite, Buddha
Pila Mulligan: I may try something daring like XP
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble still has a windows 3.1 machine at work :)
Pila Mulligan: cool
stevenaia Michinaga: yikes
Adams Rubble: It runs a dos program and works fine :)
Adams Rubble: Frightens the young techies
Pila Mulligan: :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: ha!
Pila Mulligan: I've heard Vista also has some problems, with SL especially
Adams Rubble: uh oh
stevenaia Michinaga: my wife's computer can't run it but I suspect it;s the graphics card
stevenaia Michinaga: it runs VISTA
Pila Mulligan: and cannot do SL?
stevenaia Michinaga: no
Adams Rubble: boooo
Pila Mulligan: so what is best for SL?
stevenaia Michinaga: whatever works.. a mac :)
Adams Rubble: good graphics card
Pila Mulligan: realizing that is probably a subjective question
stevenaia Michinaga: a little
Sylectra Darwin: Mac love is subjective.
Sylectra Darwin: You would not believe the kudos I received on Facebook for buying that machine.
Adams Rubble: :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire sneaks out of the meeting....
Adams Rubble: They have an effective ad campaign
Pila Mulligan: bye Corvi
Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye all.
Adams Rubble: by Corvi :)
stevenaia Michinaga: bye corvi
Adams Rubble needs to go too. Good night all :)
Pila Mulligan: bye Adams
stevenaia Michinaga: bye Adams
Sylectra Darwin: sleepy bunch tonight.
Sylectra Darwin: me included.
Sylectra Darwin: I am useless, thus I am off as well.
stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Pila Mulligan: bye Sylectra -- nice dress
stevenaia Michinaga: night, enjoy your computer
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, very nice dress
Sylectra Darwin: thank you, good night gentlemen. Wish I could enjoy a nice beverage with you some time (especially in Hawaii)
Pila Mulligan: always welcome :)
stevenaia Michinaga: wow
stevenaia Michinaga: great movement
Sylectra Darwin: yes, I thought Eshi did amazing work. Not bad for $1000 L.
Sylectra Darwin: It was for a good cause, like I said. :)
Sylectra Darwin: nighty night
Pila Mulligan: bye
Pila Mulligan: a couple of Mac questions Steve ...
Pila Mulligan: since I am contemplating a new sytstem some day
Pila Mulligan: 1. does Mac play well with a Wondows netwrok?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Pila Mulligan: Windows*
Pila Mulligan: cool
stevenaia Michinaga: I ahve a windows puter in my office and reach in and grab files all the time
Pila Mulligan: I have an even older and rustier W2k system on ethernet as a backup
stevenaia Michinaga: my officemate has one
Pila Mulligan: in my home offic
Pila Mulligan: that helps then
stevenaia Michinaga: not sure you can reach back that far
Pila Mulligan: oh?
Pila Mulligan: hmm
stevenaia Michinaga: you would have to ask a mac techie somewhere
Pila Mulligan: ok ... #2:
stevenaia Michinaga: my last 3 computers were laptops
Pila Mulligan: do you now if there is a version of WordPerfect for Mac?
Pila Mulligan: these of course are easy Google questionds
Pila Mulligan: just wondered of you nkow
Pila Mulligan: if*
stevenaia Michinaga: haha, looking on google now
Pila Mulligan: well, thanks
stevenaia Michinaga: doesn;t look good, used to be available on a mac but looks like windows only
Pila Mulligan: ahh, too bad also -- I'm kind of stuck with WordPerfect
stevenaia Michinaga: there is an opensource "Office" equivalent from Sun Microsystems that runds on mac, it may have a wordperfect translator built-in
Pila Mulligan: yes, I use it some
Pila Mulligan: it is good
Pila Mulligan: but WordPErfect has some especially nice and unique functions for legal breifs
Pila Mulligan: and although I say i am retired I still get jobs to do
Pila Mulligan: writing briefs
stevenaia Michinaga: there may be translators but that would be a pain
Pila Mulligan: I have yet to find a word processor with equivalent feautres - Word has tried it bt in a very clumsy manner
Pila Mulligan: MS Word that is
Pila Mulligan: case citations go at the front of a breif in a table, and Wordperfect has automated the making of that table to such a degree that it is very helpful
stevenaia Michinaga: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: no, I don;t see wordperfect format in openoffice
Pila Mulligan: I've looked high and low, as I'd love to find womething to use besides Windows
Pila Mulligan: thatks for chekcing
Pila Mulligan: something
Pila Mulligan: *
stevenaia Michinaga: wouldn't we all
Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: funney how the lag put those last three lines I typed out of sequence :)
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, I was having tha tproblem earlier
Pila Mulligan: has your flu flown?
stevenaia Michinaga: it wwas jsut a cold, seems to be mostly gone
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks
Pila Mulligan: ah, cool
Pila Mulligan: rememebr: gan mao ling :)
Pila Mulligan: I'd be happy to mail you a bottle if you cannot find it
stevenaia Michinaga: I;t on my macphone notes, will always ahve it with me
Pila Mulligan: little yellow pills
stevenaia Michinaga: they for flu?
Pila Mulligan: for flu and colds
Pila Mulligan: excellent preventative if you catch it at the very beginning and also greatly decreases the symptoms if you do ont start until later
stevenaia Michinaga: I may stop off at some point and pick some up them
stevenaia Michinaga: how often do you take then?
Pila Mulligan: two or three pills two or three times a day when needed
Pila Mulligan: I only take one or two on a day when I sese the start of a cold
Pila Mulligan: sense*
Pila Mulligan: knock on wood -- haven't had a cold for a long time
Pila Mulligan: I take several if I am going to fly on an airplane, also
Pila Mulligan: preventative
stevenaia Michinaga: smart move these days
Pila Mulligan: that recirculated air is nasty
Pila Mulligan: along with the airport and TSA :)
Pila Mulligan: well, i suppose the session is about ended tonite -- thanks for being the host
stevenaia Michinaga: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks
Pila Mulligan: anything on your mind?
stevenaia Michinaga: no, just winding down, unusually hard work out in Thai Chi yesterday
Pila Mulligan: oh, how is it going?
stevenaia Michinaga: 21 reps
Pila Mulligan: cool
stevenaia Michinaga: good, one more week then another session
Pila Mulligan: how many movements in a rep?
stevenaia Michinaga: just one, then another group, snce I don;t know them it;s hard for me to say, probably ome
Pila Mulligan: there are usually 108 distinct movements in a traditional tai chi set
Pila Mulligan: it takes 10-20 minutes
stevenaia Michinaga: no, maybe 8-10
stevenaia Michinaga: maybe les
stevenaia Michinaga: less
Pila Mulligan: yes, that is sensible -- usually the 108 movements are taught i sic sections
stevenaia Michinaga: it wa a simple warm up move repeated
Pila Mulligan: yep :0
Pila Mulligan: six sections*
Pila Mulligan: 10-15 movements per section
Pila Mulligan: have you started getting a feeling that the movements are yours, so to speak?
stevenaia Michinaga: some, but we keep adding to it, much to learn
Pila Mulligan: yes
Pila Mulligan: an imitating is always the first and more difficult part
Pila Mulligan: then it clicks and off you float on your own movements:)
stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Pila Mulligan: it feels good :)
stevenaia Michinaga: well I must be off, thanks
Pila Mulligan: ok, bye Steve
stevenaia Michinaga: take care
