    Wol Euler: hello scath
    sophia Placebo: hi scath
Yakuzza Lethecus: not really if there are some :), hey scath
Wol Euler grins. I guess you'll find out. I hope you like cheese ...
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Sophia, Yakuzza, Quilty:)
    Quilty Bookmite: Hi Scathach
Wol Euler: it looks like Solo will be detained again...
    sophia Placebo: :)
Quilty Bookmite: 'scuse my quietness. Catching up on things.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey gaya
    Quilty Bookmite: Hi Gaya
    Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Gaya:)

Quilty Bookmite: I'm definitely much geekier than that.
    Wol Euler: hello ADAMS
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Adams :)

    Adams Rubble: hell Eliza :)
    sophia Placebo: hi eliza
    Wol Euler: hello eliza
Eliza Madrigal: Wow, hello all :)
    Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Eliza
    Quilty Bookmite: Hi eliza.
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Eliza :)
    Adams Rubble: Welcome back Quilty
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Quilty Bookmite: Thank you Adams. :-)
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Where is Solo? Is this still his slot?
Wol Euler: it is indeed, he appears to hve gone AWOL again
Adams Rubble: He is somehwere flying solo
Wol Euler: which is odd, he's usually good about asking in advance
    Adams Rubble: yes
    Gaya Ethaniel: yeah ,..
    Adams Rubble: very responsible chap
    Scathach Rhiadra: :)

Finally getting down to business, or trying to.

Wol Euler: well, in his absence: What shall we talk about this evening/afternoon/morning/moment?
Adams Rubble: we can talk about solo (giggles)
Quilty Bookmite: Gaya, there is something a bit different about you. I can;t quite put my finger on it.
Wol Euler: one of the best-dressed men in SL ...
    Gaya Ethaniel: heheheheh
    Gaya Ethaniel: Really Quilty??
Quilty Bookmite: It suits you. :-)
Wol Euler: actually, yes, it does. It's a lovely av, full of wistful charm. A real character
    Gaya Ethaniel: Thank you ^__^
Quilty Bookmite: Has the place got very sensible since I was last here?
Gaya Ethaniel: Kind of ... yes no militant playing while you were away.
    Quilty Bookmite: Hmmmmm......

A reminder of the origin of our name.

    Quilty Bookmite: onigokko
    Quilty Bookmite: stop
    Quilty Bookmite: So I see.
    sophia Placebo: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Wol Euler: heheh, I was about to distribute that to the new members :)
    sophia Placebo: thanks :)
Wol Euler: wear that, it's invisible and mostly harmless :)
    Wol Euler: stop
Quilty Bookmite: Mine isn't invisible unfortunately. :-)
Wol Euler: oh, let me give oyu one too.
    Gaya Ethaniel giggles.
    Quilty Bookmite: onigokko
Eliza Madrigal: Thank you... have had one experience with this.... thankfully that one doesn't give remove my clothing
    sophia Placebo: hehe
    Eliza Madrigal: hehhe
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
    Quilty Bookmite: Thanks. :-)
    Wol Euler: stop
    Yakuzza Lethecus: lol
Wol Euler: sophia, are yo wearing yours?
    sophia Placebo: i am now
    Yakuzza Lethecus: onigokko
    sophia Placebo: :))
    Wol Euler laughs
Quilty Bookmite: Ah, you can't beat the classics. :-)
    Eliza Madrigal: :D
    Yakuzza Lethecus: stop
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Wol Euler sighs. There has been far too little of that here lately
Quilty Bookmite: Oh dear. maybe I've been away too long.
Wol Euler: we have become very earnest.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: onigokko
    Quilty Bookmite: stop
Quilty Bookmite: So what's the topic?
Quilty Bookmite: More play less being?
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel nods nods.
Quilty Bookmite: Sorry, that was me. Wanted to see if it still worked.
Eliza Madrigal: Looks like there should be a fire
Eliza Madrigal: then again I've set 'sunset' :)
Gaya Ethaniel: wow now I'm flying in the air. O.o
Wol Euler: oh, htat wold be good. an alternative to the large-scale water
Quilty Bookmite: I think you're just standing up Gaya.
Gaya Ethaniel: I am in the air above Playgoda - relogging brb
    Wol Euler: wow
Wol Euler: viewer gone mad, perhaps...

More different fun: Eliza distributes a floating animation.

    Quilty Bookmite: Thank you Eliza.
    sophia Placebo: thanx'
    Scathach Rhiadra: ty Eliza
    Adams Rubble: wb Gaya
    Adams Rubble: Thanks Eliza
    Scathach Rhiadra: wb Gaya:)
Wol Euler: this has the makings of anohter fine silly session.
Eliza Madrigal: From Nymph the other day at Adam's session
Quilty Bookmite: I like this a lot!
    Eliza Madrigal: love this
    Wol Euler: wb gaya
    Yakuzza Lethecus: onigokko
    Eliza Madrigal: :D
    sophia Placebo: lol
    Yakuzza Lethecus: stop
Gaya Ethaniel: ty (This time I'm underground it looks like funny SL tonight)

Kenji arrives and the conversation turns serious.

    Wol Euler: hello kenji
    kenji Pookes: Hi all
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Kenji
Adams Rubble: Rl stuff. bye everyone :)
    sophia Placebo: hi kenji
    Quilty Bookmite: Hi Kenji
    sophia Placebo: bye adams
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Adams :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey kenji
    Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Kenji
    Gaya Ethaniel: Bye Adams :)
Eliza Madrigal: Oh Gaya, now a cloud
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Kenji :)
    kenji Pookes: Hi
Wol Euler: you may need to reboot, not just a relog
Eliza Madrigal: So what is the cure for much seriousness? cowbell?
Wol Euler: Kenji, I was just reading the log of your discussion wth Pema and all, a week ago.
    Quilty Bookmite: Yes! More cowbell!
kenji Pookes: And you are still awake?
Wol Euler: very much so :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :D
Gaya Ethaniel: RL calls :) Good day/night all.
Wol Euler: have you tried the nine seconds?
    kenji Pookes: Bye
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Gaya :)
    Gaya Ethaniel waves.
    sophia Placebo: bye gaya
Wol Euler: bye gaya, take care.
    Scathach Rhiadra: bye Gaya
    Quilty Bookmite: Bye gaya.
kenji Pookes: Was that question for me, Wol?
    Wol Euler: yes, it was
    kenji Pookes: No, I haven't
Wol Euler: (sorry, should have been more specific)
kenji Pookes: WHy do you ask?
Wol Euler: well, it is very much our raison d'etre here. And I am insatiably curious.
kenji Pookes: OK. How is that realted to my conversation from last week--which I don't remember, actually (I remember having it, but not the content).
Wol Euler shrugs. I was curious, that's all. If the question is too personal, or impertinent, then I withdraw it.
kenji Pookes: Not at all, I just was wondering about the relationship between the two points, as I don't really remember what we discussed last week, so I'm not clear on the direction.

    More baseball philosophy.

    Wol Euler: http://playasbeing.wik.is/index.php?...er_meditations
Wol Euler: (the title was mine :-)
kenji Pookes: OK, I remember discussing baseball.
Wol Euler: right, that was the session :)
Wol Euler: Pema talked about the nine seconds, you replied that music and baseball were both near-meditative states for you
Wol Euler: it was quite interesting to read
    kenji Pookes: Yes, they are.
    kenji Pookes: That's a first....
kenji Pookes: Music moreso, since I don't play baseball, jsut watch it. the point about baseball had to do more with the issue of time, if I remember right. It is a release from the mundane counting of time in terms of seconds, minutes, and hours.
kenji Pookes: Do you follow baseball, Wol?
Wol Euler: no, but I don't follow any sport at all since I stopped watching TV
Wol Euler: so I am not actually anti-baseball :)
Wol Euler: I appreciate the game, I've watched my sister's kids play, and have been to a match in the Toronto Skydome
kenji Pookes: Well, the thing that has intrigued me always about basball is that time is counted in strikes, outs, and innings. And there is no normal clock.
    Wol Euler nods.
Quilty Bookmite: Sorry, must go. I'll be back soon.
kenji Pookes: On Saturday here at my university (Texas) there was a prime example of this. Texas is in the playoffs for baseball and the regional tournament was held here in Austin. There was a game between Texas and Boston College that went 25 innings.
    kenji Pookes: Bye.
Eliza Madrigal: Bye quilty....nice to see/meet you :)
kenji Pookes: It took more than 7 hours to play.
    Scathach Rhiadra: bye Quilty
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye
    Quilty Bookmite: Bye all.
kenji Pookes: The interesting point is that when you got o a baseball game, you are enterring into a framework in which time and space are culturally constructed in a way quite different from that of normal life.
    Scathach Rhiadra: mmm, like cricket
Wol Euler: yes, I was thinking that.
Wol Euler: it takes as long as it takes.
Wol Euler: unlike almost everything else we do...
kenji Pookes: Yes, I think it has much in common with cricket. Baseball moves at a different pace from cricket and the rules are quite different, but the way in which time is dealt with is similar.
    kenji Pookes: Yes, Wol. Exactly.
Wol Euler: other sports do have time slippage though, like the timeouts in American football.
Wol Euler: You know how many minutes of play are in a quarter, roughly, but the amount of real-world time to achieve them is variable
kenji Pookes: Sort of. The clock stops, but football is all about management of the clock. Particualrly at the end of each half. It works more or less like real life--time management.
Wol Euler: which is in a way the opposite of the timelessness you see ni baseball!
Wol Euler: in those final minutes it is all about time.

    An aphorism.

kenji Pookes: YEs. Actually, football is a lot like AMerican society. Marginally controlled violence broken up by regular committee meetings.
    Wol Euler laughs!
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Scathach Rhiadra: :)
Eliza Madrigal: The few times I've gotten to go to a basketball game here in Miami, I've been awestruck by certain players ability (from my outside perspective) to nearly override any reasonable expectation of time/force...you can see that is like a completely different zone. An exciting game is over in a flash :)
Eliza Madrigal: Watching baseball 'feels' like forever to me :)
kenji Pookes: Yes, basketball is quite fast, but baseball can be quite fast, too. The climax in baseball is quite satisfying. There are long periods where things happen in a routine way, and then all of a sudden there is an explosive moment of extreme satisfaction--kind of like sex.
Wol Euler: no wonder it's so popular.
Wol Euler: but they let children play?
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe Wol
Eliza Madrigal: When the Marlins are doing well here, it does change the town in a nice way....
kenji Pookes: Well, I didn't say it is the same as sex...
Eliza Madrigal: you can feel the wave of it
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Mick
    Mickorod Renard: hiya
    Wol Euler: wb kenji
kenji Pookes: I got logged out.
    sophia Placebo: hi mick
Mickorod Renard: hi sophia,,,,scath wol ken and yaku
    kenji Pookes: Hi Mick
    Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Mick
Mickorod Renard: didnt want to disturb the flow
    Mickorod Renard: sneaked in quietly
Mickorod Renard: is there a dreams class tonite,,at kira?..pls
Scathach Rhiadra: Friday, don't think so
Eliza Madrigal: Dreams are Tuesdays Mick
Wol Euler: I thought that was tuesday?
    Mickorod Renard: ok,,thanks
sophia Placebo: g2g , see you later
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Sophia :)
    Mickorod Renard: bye sophia
Wol Euler: bye sophia, see you tomorrow
    Wol Euler grins
    Scathach Rhiadra: bye Sophia
    sophia Placebo: :)
Wol Euler: don't worry, it'll be fine!
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Scathach Rhiadra: yes:)
    sophia Placebo: ty :)
Mickorod Renard: whts she doing? some sort of test?
Wol Euler: at 7am, she and Pema will discuss Islam and meditation
    Mickorod Renard: I see
Wol Euler: are you not on the PaB google group mailing list?
Eliza Madrigal is looking forward to attending
Wol Euler: yes, indeed! me too.
    Scathach Rhiadra nods
Mickorod Renard: yes,,but I am inundated with stuff,,and due to nature of my work I choose to switch coms off during the day
    Wol Euler: fair enough :)
Scathach Rhiadra: I must go, good night all:)
    Mickorod Renard: ok folks,,must run..c u tommorow
Wol Euler: goodnight scath, take care
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Scath. Nite. Mick, Bye.
Wol Euler: bye mick, sleep well
    Mickorod Renard: nite all

The hour is up, the early shift leaves and the late shift arrives.

    Eliza Madrigal waves to Fael
    Wol Euler: hello fael
    kenji Pookes: Hi Fael
Fael Illyar: Hi Wol, kenji, Eliza, Yakuzza :)
    Fael Illyar: What's a Deipnosophist?
Wol Euler chuckles. My new favourite word.
kenji Pookes: I was wondering that, too
    Wol Euler: "dinner table philosopher"
    Fael Illyar smiles.
kenji Pookes: So, Wol, you asked earlier about the 9 second thing and I'm wondering what you experience when you do that/
Wol Euler: well, I do it less regularly and less often than Pema's description suggests
Wol Euler: I use it as a centering and calming tool.
Wol Euler: clears my mind, lets me see things differently. I find it particularly good for dealing with negative atmosphere at work
    kenji Pookes: I see.
Wol Euler: you said that it was unlikely that one might enter a trancelike state in 9 seconds. That's true; but that isn't the purpose...
kenji Pookes: I guess I use naps for the same purpose.
Wol Euler smiles. If I could nap at work, I would too
kenji Pookes: Although they last longer than 9 sec.
kenji Pookes: I usually nap right after I eat lunch.
kenji Pookes: For about 15 minutes.
Fael Illyar: the purpose is to shake yourself free from the story of your life. If even partially.
    Wol Euler: good idea.

    Turning contentious.

kenji Pookes: Why would I want to do that?
Fael Illyar: so you can look at your life instead of your story of it :)
kenji Pookes: They are the same thing.
    Fael Illyar: nope
    kenji Pookes: yup
    Wol Euler: no, I disagree
kenji Pookes: There is no "story" to my life; I just live.
kenji Pookes: Others may ascribe a story to it, but I'm not interested in that.
kenji Pookes: I should probably add tht I spend very little time thinking about either the future or the past.
Fael Illyar: So, you have no story of your life brewing at all?
kenji Pookes: No, I don't. I don't even know what that would mean.
    kenji Pookes: Is that odd?
    Fael Illyar: Hi Ari :)
Wol Euler: hello Ari, come and join us please.
    kenji Pookes: Hi Ari
Eliza Madrigal: I find it very necessary to stop and remember the beauty of silence... helps me to widen my scope even farther than I thought it was
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Ari!
kenji Pookes: I'd rather experience silence than think about it. The act of remembering seems rather noisy to me.
Eliza Madrigal: :) We're all very unique
    Eliza Madrigal: And the same
    Wol Euler nods
Fael Illyar: do you mean remembering has to be thinking?
kenji Pookes: I don't really think about being unique or the same. Things just are.
kenji Pookes: Memory is activated by thinking, I think.
kenji Pookes: Memory is constructed, not objective, in any case.
Eliza Madrigal is not yet that spontaneous...
Eliza Madrigal: I find it necessary to be intentional
kenji Pookes: I'm not really spontaneous. I just don't think about those sorts of things much.
kenji Pookes: I tend to do much more than think about doing.
kenji Pookes: Has anyone here ever been depressed?
    Wol Euler: yes.
Eliza Madrigal: That to me would imply being spontaneous, but then again people use different terms
kenji Pookes: Depression is something I've never been able to make sense out of. I don't believe I've ever been depressed. Of course there are ups and downs, but I never am really very far off of the same plane.
Eliza Madrigal can't answer that really... sees a spectrum
Arisia Vita: ever been in love kenji?
Wol Euler: good for you, kenji.
kenji Pookes: I've always thought that depression is a product of thinking too much.
kenji Pookes: Sure, Ari. And there is no love even close to that one has for one's children.
Arisia Vita: isn't that kind of high off the plane?
Fael Illyar: not only thinking too much. Depression comes from being too focused on yourself.
Eliza Madrigal: or pouring out everything in the case of many artists
kenji Pookes: I don't mean that as saying it is something good--I simply don't get depression because I've never experienced it.
    Eliza Madrigal: not replenishing
kenji Pookes: Fael, I think that is what I mean. Thinking too much about your "Story."
kenji Pookes: My story really doesn't matter.
Eliza Madrigal: one might not call their job their story .. but many suffer severe identity crisis if they lose it
kenji Pookes: I don't think love is off of the plane.
Arisia Vita: do *you* determine whether your story matters?
    Arisia Vita: or others?
kenji Pookes: Why wouldn't I, Ari?
Arisia Vita: because it matters to me
kenji Pookes: Others make decide that my story is important, but it is not important in any greater scheme of things.
Arisia Vita: in my opinion, it is
kenji Pookes: My existence is basically irrelevant in the enormity of the universe. I don't think that is a bad thing, just a fact.
Fael Illyar: it is as important and no less important than any other's story.
Eliza Madrigal: That's perspective, and yet we introduce ourselves "I do ___" and "I've been __,__,__." Those are our stories.
Fael Illyar: but not more either
kenji Pookes: You're missing my point--I'm not pining away about myself. I'm saying that no-one's story is important.
Eliza Madrigal: If we think we are not more than that, then that's depressing :)
    kenji Pookes: Not to me.
Fael Illyar: then what does important mean for you?
kenji Pookes: 1,000 years from now, my existence will not be remembered. And it will not have mattered in any important way.
Fael Illyar: again, what is this important you keep stressing?
kenji Pookes: significant in any universal sense.
Fael Illyar: where does that come from?
kenji Pookes: What do you mean?
Fael Illyar: how do you know what is important and what is not?
kenji Pookes: Just my opinion--I don't. I'm not God (not that I think any god exists).
kenji Pookes: My point is that I do not think there is any intrinsic meaning to existence or life. It just is--and that's just fine. Therefore, I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it.
Eliza Madrigal: :) I rather agree with that not being caught up in the futility of making oneself important is a rather balanced perspective.
Eliza Madrigal: Which isn't quite the same thing as not having a story at all
kenji Pookes: To put this another, more vulgar, way. I've never really given two shits what anyone thinks about me, nor have I ever tried to impress anyone to think about me in a particular way. I just am. What people think is what they think, the story they want to ascribe to me is up to them.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
kenji Pookes: Of course, my appraoch can create some problems. I tend to be quite frank about whether or not I think something makes sense--can really piss off other scholars who are deeply bent up in making sure everyone knows they are smart.
Eliza Madrigal: Of course there are contexts

    Children.

Eliza Madrigal: It matters what some people think about me...my children for instance. I can't control it or live on it, but it matters :)
kenji Pookes: Yes, I would qualify my comments in saying that I do care what my children, wife, and father think of me. But that's pretty much the end of the line. And about the only thing that really matters to me is that they think I am a decent person and loving father/son/husband.
kenji Pookes: Who here has children?
    Eliza Madrigal raises hand
    Arisia Vita: I do
kenji Pookes: Children have a rather powerful way of eliminating self-centered thinking. What matters to me most is not me, it is them.
    Eliza Madrigal: They can indeed
Eliza Madrigal: It is good for them that their parents are 'independent and complete-in-themselves' though
kenji Pookes: Over the past two weeks, I've put about 2,000 miles on my car driving my kids around. I've had people comment that they can't see how I can take spending so much time doing that sort of thing. But I can't think of anything I'd rather do.
Eliza Madrigal: :) yes I understand that
    Eliza Madrigal: very much
kenji Pookes: Sure, Eliza. I agree. My son is very independent (and yet so dependent); it is so difficult to explain that.
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: the more they can depend on their parents...feel secure...the easier it is for them to be on their own :)
kenji Pookes: How old are your kids, Eliza?
    Eliza Madrigal: 16,13,10 :)
    kenji Pookes: Yes, that's it.
kenji Pookes: Mine are 13 and 3.
    Eliza Madrigal: Ari?
kenji Pookes: He seems to be gone. I was going to ask him, too.
    Arisia Vita: kids....30 and 28
Eliza Madrigal: large gap Kenji...like between my sister and myself
Arisia Vita: oh, I am just naturally quiet
    Eliza Madrigal: : )
kenji Pookes: Oh there. Your name was beyind something.
kenji Pookes: Yes, the gap is quite wonderful, actually.
kenji Pookes: Although waking up at 3am because my daughter wet the bed is not exactly fun...
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: part of the gig
kenji Pookes: Oddly enough, girls seem to be much better at toilet training than boys. Took my son much longer than my daughter. I don't get that.
    Eliza Madrigal: Not sure either.
Eliza Madrigal: There are probably endless theories
    kenji Pookes: No doubt
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: brb
Arisia Vita: I am inviting a friend (Extropia) to join us...
Fael Illyar: Sure, go ahead Ari :)
Arisia Vita: she will be here shortly
kenji Pookes: I guess my general point is that although I've never been much concerned about my story, having children generated a very different way of seeing the world in which I was not longer particualrly important other than as one of the main people who must provide for them.
kenji Pookes: I think Wol, Fale, and Yak are bored by this talk of kids; perhaps we should change topics.
    Wol Euler: no, listening contently.
    Fael Illyar: Yes :)
    Wol Euler: (speaking for myself)
    Fael Illyar: (for me too)
    Arisia Vita: me too
Eliza Madrigal: here...but running back and forth from the kitchen making tea
kenji Pookes: Let me add that I'm not saying that my perspective is necessarily right on the issue of one's story; that's ust how I tend to see things. Good chance I'm wrong.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Arisia Vita: welcome Exti
    Fael Illyar: Hi Extropia :)
    kenji Pookes: Hi

    Irrelevant?

Eliza Madrigal: No worries. I think it is interesting Kenji, that your experience seems very matter-of-fact to you
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Extropia
Extropia DaSilva: Ah, Play as Being. Not been here for a while.
    Wol Euler: hello extropia
    Extropia DaSilva: Hello everyone.
kenji Pookes: That is a very helpful way to put it Eliza. I do find my experience and my life, rather matter-of-fact. In other words, I'm quite shallow.
Arisia Vita: kenji was just telling how important he is in the scheme of things
kenji Pookes: And the answer was that I'm not important at all. I'm irrelevant.
Wol Euler: ((extropia, if you've been here you know that we record and publish these meetings?))
Wol Euler points to the recorder, which is still recording.
    Extropia DaSilva: I know.
kenji Pookes: And everyone strongly confirmed the idea that I'm completely irrelevant.
Eliza Madrigal: haha...would not say that
    Arisia Vita: nor I
Wol Euler: good, the TOS requires that we say tell people.
Fael Illyar: nope, no-one is irrelevant.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
kenji Pookes: That was a bit of humor, folks...
Wol Euler hands you a little flag to wave next time.
kenji Pookes: But that raises another point. I am utterly not serious about much of anything. Will do, Wol.
Eliza Madrigal: It is funny though, I do now try to imagine what a matter-of-fact way of seeing one's experience would be. I have to get through layers and layers to feel 'immediate'
kenji Pookes: I'm not good with the little :)) thingies.
Eliza Madrigal: You could try =P~
    Arisia Vita: little thingies?
    Fael Illyar: smileys?
kenji Pookes: Yes, those little thingies.
    kenji Pookes: Smileys, yes.
    kenji Pookes: Smiely thingies.
kenji Pookes: Which I suppose is better than smelly thingies.
Fael Illyar: for example :) you can see as a smiling face if you tilt your head left.
Fael Illyar: and use a sliver of imagination :)
kenji Pookes: I know what they are, I just don't do well at using them.
    Fael Illyar: Ah :)
Eliza Madrigal: Or with spontaneous bursts of flying probably

    Imagination.

kenji Pookes: Well, there is the problem, Fael--I'm rather short on imagination.
    kenji Pookes: Oops. :)
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, and we come back to 'more play' somehow
Arisia Vita: what do you do well kinji?
    kenji Pookes: Absolutely nothing.
Extropia DaSilva: Imagination is relative, surely? Your imagination is only 'vast' or 'narrow' when compared to someone elses.
Extropia DaSilva: It is not big or small per se.
Fael Illyar: (just a side note here, how can you know someone else's imagination?)
Eliza Madrigal: Anyone who finds themselves in Play as Being in Second Life has some serious imagination going imo
kenji Pookes: I can't imagine how, Fael.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Extropia DaSilva: Because we have technologies that act as cognitive extensions. Writing, for example.
kenji Pookes: Ari, why did you ask that question?
Arisia Vita: because I wondered, why do you ask questions?

I distributed a few more onigokkos, hoping for some levity.

Wol Euler: ((just wear them, they are invisible and mostly harmless)
kenji Pookes: Oh, I'm just annoying. Actually, I ask questions because I am curious about my surroundings.
    kenji Pookes: 42
    Arisia Vita: ?
    Wol Euler: onigokko
    Eliza Madrigal: Wheeee
    Wol Euler: awwww :(
Fael Illyar: Yes, I've read hitchiker's guide to the galaxy :)
    Wol Euler: stop
Extropia DaSilva: I think he is referring to the ultimate answer to which we have no question..
kenji Pookes: yes. I generally work from the idea that that is the answer to everything.
kenji Pookes: I tell my students that.
Extropia DaSilva: Was Douglas trying to point out that 'why is the universe here at all' a stupid question? And so you get a stupid answer? Garbage in, garbage out as they say?
Eliza Madrigal: Very playful person, Adams.
kenji Pookes: no, it's just that the answer is 42. No need to analyze it.
kenji Pookes: Speaking of playfullness, I would like to make an observation.
Eliza Madrigal was shushed by a man wearing a multi-buttoned baseball cap in a terribly embarrassing way at a booksigning once...
Wol Euler: Wow, extropia, we just missed your fourth rezday! You are a venerable elder.
Fael Illyar: not a stupid question. Just ... well ... ... even if you knew the answer, what would you do with it?
kenji Pookes: I've been coming here for a few weeks now. This isprobably my favorite spot in SL. The conversations are very interesting and enjoyable. But I have noticed, at leas when I am here, that there is much emphasis on the "being" part (deep thoughts) and not as much on the "play" part ((less deep thoughts). I wonder why?
kenji Pookes: In many ways I see life as a joke--a really good joke that is much fun.
Extropia DaSilva: Actually, there was a number discovered by Gregory Chaitin. It is known as 'Omega' and it is an infinitely long sequence of binary numbers. It contains the answer to every physics problem that can possibly exist, but also infinite gibberish. So, you have to ask the right question in order to get a sensible answer. And you need a computer that is infititely powerful.
kenji Pookes: Well all, I've got to run. Got to go and pick up the car that my wife squashed a deer with from the shop--after three weeks and $3500 it is finally fixed! Hurrah!
Fael Illyar: See you later kenji :)
Wol Euler: bye kenji, drive safely.
Eliza Madrigal: :) Bye for now Kenji
    Arisia Vita: bye ken
kenji Pookes: If we didn't have damn deer, it would be a lot easier to drive safely--no matter how you spell it. I hate deer.
    kenji Pookes: Cheers all.
Wol Euler: yeah, but they taste so good
    kenji Pookes: They do, indeed.

Winding down, as the second hour draws to an end.

Arisia Vita: there goes the life of the party....
Wol Euler: no, the life of the party starts when somebody says:
    Wol Euler: onigokko
Wol Euler: and you lazy sods still aren't wearing yours. (sighs)
    Wol Euler: stop
    Fael Illyar smiles.
Extropia DaSilva: Oh was that the thing someone sent me?
    Wol Euler: yep
    Fael Illyar: onigokko
Eliza Madrigal may never take hers off now that it doesn't create a tail
    Fael Illyar: stop
    Extropia DaSilva: Well..here goes..
    Arisia Vita: one more time?
    Extropia DaSilva: ..nothing..
    Wol Euler: fire away
Wol Euler: oh, that is the secret. ya gotta say ...
Extropia DaSilva: How do I make it go?
Wol Euler: you say the magic word
    Eliza Madrigal: onigokko
    Extropia DaSilva: which is?
    Wol Euler laughs
    Fael Illyar smiles.
    Extropia DaSilva: heheheh
Eliza Madrigal: and you can't quiet until someone says
Arisia Vita: how come Eliza is different?
Eliza Madrigal: she just is Ari, sigh
    Eliza Madrigal: stop
Wol Euler: she was facing a different direction when she started off
    Arisia Vita: aw...
Wol Euler: the rest of us are facing west
Extropia DaSilva: That is psychology bots for you. Always have to be different.
    Fael Illyar smiles.
    Eliza Madrigal shakes yakuzza
Wol Euler: or it might be that, yes.
Wol Euler: well, that was great fun. But I must start thinking about getting to bed.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Extropia DaSilva: Nighty night:)
Eliza Madrigal: yes a two hour PaB session seems sufficient today for me too
    Eliza Madrigal: Night Wol
Fael Illyar: Good night Wol :)
Wol Euler: goodnight all, take care. see you tomorrow at 7am for Sophia?
Fael Illyar: Good night Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: It has been interesting and fun though!
    Extropia DaSilva: Night:)
Wol Euler: 'night extropia, it was nice meeting you.
Fael Illyar: Well, I'd better retire too :)
Fael Illyar: Good night everyone :)
Eliza Madrigal: Bye fr now Fael :) Bye Ari, Nice to meet you Extropia, and See YA! :)
    Arisia Vita: bye Eliza
Extropia DaSilva: It was nice to meet you too and run around like a loon to the william Tell Overture:)
Eliza Madrigal: This was fun! :) Come again soon! :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye
