The Guardian for this meeting was Gaya Ethaniel. The comments are by Gaya Ethaniel.
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Gaya :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Nymf :)
Gaya Ethaniel: How are you today?
Nymf Hathaway: well got shocked by the news of Michael Jackson and Farah Fawcett
Nymf Hathaway: and you?
Gaya Ethaniel: A bit tired otherwise well thanks :)
Nymf Hathaway: Is it late for you?
Gaya Ethaniel: No it's 9 am, didn't sleep well, nothing serious :)
Nymf Hathaway: oke :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Yes Jackson died relatively young.
Nymf Hathaway: yes 50 is nothing
Nymf Hathaway: and thinking about his life... I feel so sorry he suffered so much by his dad and later the media
Nymf Hathaway: everyone would have lost it, not just he
Gaya Ethaniel nods.
Gaya Ethaniel: It's not easy ... I've seen some minor 'celebrities' in SL going a bit weird.
Gaya Ethaniel: It's tough to be in the centre of much attention.
Nymf Hathaway: yes it can surely mess you up :( glad I am just me :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Do you think it is to do with trying to keep up with an image?
Nymf Hathaway: no... of course I am not an expert but looking back... his dad was the seed and horror.... after that the media made him a freak...always pushing and publishing
Gaya Ethaniel: A lot of parents can be like that imo ...
Nymf Hathaway: yes... kids need to produce what they would have liked to do themselves :(
Gaya Ethaniel: Yes ... Sometimes, that's the reason.
Gaya Ethaniel: One of my friends said people should pass a test to be allowed to become a parent.
Gaya Ethaniel: In a way, it makes sense.
Nymf Hathaway: I agree fully
Nymf Hathaway: because you may drive after a test but kids....just get them
Gaya Ethaniel: It's not a right to be a parent imo ...
Nymf Hathaway: I agree
Nymf Hathaway: it’s the right of a kid to have good parents
Gaya Ethaniel: But sometimes though ... people grow as they raise children. It's a tough one.
Gaya Ethaniel: Many feel guilty not being a good parent so ... has to be a balance somewhere.
Nymf Hathaway: welll...earth is overpopulating...so it should be worth a good thought... I think parents want to have help as well...because what we want from parents is that they know all the answers for different situations...no one has these of course
Gaya Ethaniel: I think all it takes to be a good parent is to love a child as much as one can.
Nymf Hathaway: no
Nymf Hathaway: I thought such
Nymf Hathaway: but that’s not true...you need a lot more
Gaya Ethaniel: Such as ...?
Nymf Hathaway: well what about stability, protection, food, playtime, wise decissions for the future etc etc
Gaya Ethaniel: mm ... external factors as best as one can manage ... I was watching an interview with a former gang member who works with young people the other day.
Gaya Ethaniel: When he was asked for solutions, he said these 'troubled' children need hugs. That was his solution.
Nymf Hathaway: It can only help, I agree there
Nymf Hathaway: feeling loved is a very intense feeling, much troubled kids lack
Gaya Ethaniel nods.
Gaya Ethaniel: I suspect he implied that much of the causes (not external ones ie bad neighbourhoods) are due to lack of loving care.
Nymf Hathaway: Pure attention is missing
Gaya Ethaniel: Pure attention?
Nymf Hathaway: really interested in these kids...they missed such
Nymf Hathaway: No cup of tea after school and a talk...but on the streets by themselves
Gaya Ethaniel nods nods.
Gaya Ethaniel: Jackson's appearances certainly indicated a lot of problems he was going through. I feel sorry that he was ridiculed about them.
Nymf Hathaway: I fully agree... but thats humanity it seems... when someone is different he gets riciculed
Nymf Hathaway: ridiculed
Gaya Ethaniel: yes ... very immature
Gaya Ethaniel: Perhaps others' misfortunes give opportunities to talk about stuff that people normally would feel reluctant.
Nymf Hathaway: thinks you have a point here
Gaya Ethaniel: Not that others' misfortunes are enjoyed ... I hope that is the case.
Nymf Hathaway: well when you look into it closely you see that people do this when they do not understand... are uninformed about something....look at the witch hunting a couple of centuries ago
Gaya Ethaniel nods.
Gaya Ethaniel: Silly fears ... but quite real/serious to those who feel it.
Nymf Hathaway: the unknown
Gaya Ethaniel: ‘I don't understand it’ fears yes
Gaya Ethaniel: In a way, acceptance by understanding is limited in this sense.
Nymf Hathaway: tell me
Gaya Ethaniel: Well ... habitual process of accepting things tend to be through understanding for me.
Gaya Ethaniel: Given it is not possible to understand much, my scope of acceptance is pretty limited.
Nymf Hathaway: Is struggling with the thought.... it isn't possible to understand much... why do you think that?
Gaya Ethaniel: Well ... I can understanding facts ok but when it comes to people, it's not straight forward. It's difficult to understand oneself let alone others.
Nymf Hathaway: sure... but you can make a picture for yourself about a situation and try to include as much facts for a conclusion
Nymf Hathaway: take Jackson...we do not know everything...but the major facts we know
Nymf Hathaway: and than ask yourself...how would I have act in his shoes, or feel?
Gaya Ethaniel: If I knew someone like that, would I have truly accepted him? I'm not sure.
Nymf Hathaway: I would have suggested therapy
Gaya Ethaniel: That's different from accepting though?
Nymf Hathaway: accepting he has become who he was... I can fully, see the facts....accepting someone needs to end this way; I will not, everyday a new chance for a better life
Gaya Ethaniel: I think we are talking about acceptance in different levels :)
Nymf Hathaway: oke :)
Nymf Hathaway: that would be my fault :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Not at all ! Acceptance is a big topic.
Gaya Ethaniel: Nymf, I need to get back to RL I'm afraid.
Gaya Ethaniel: Lovely talking to you again. Hope you have a good day :)
Nymf Hathaway: oh that goes for me as well, thanks for the nice conversation
Gaya Ethaniel waves.
