    Adelene Dawner: Hiya, Luv. :)

    Threedee Shepherd: Hiya Dear

    Adelene Dawner: How's things?

    Adelene Dawner: Hi :)

    SpaceAce Wormser: Chello

    Threedee Shepherd: hi

    Threedee Shepherd: Hello Friedrich

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: hi there

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: how are you both doing? I know its been ages?

Threedee Shepherd: I have not seen you for months. How are you?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: great. thanks for asking.

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: you look well

Threedee Shepherd: I am, thank you

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: hi adelene. how are you?

    Adelene Dawner: well, thanks ^.^

    syros Soulstar: hi everyone:)

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: hi syros

    Threedee Shepherd: hi syros/buddha

    syros Soulstar: hiya three:)

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: either/or?

    syros Soulstar: sure..

    syros Soulstar: either is fine

Threedee Shepherd: So, Friedrich, any recent thoughts re PaB?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: recent, as in within the last half a year since i have been here?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: considering PaB concerns all of being, I should hope so!

    Threedee Shepherd: indeed

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: now i painted myself in a corner, huh?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: its been a really good semester.

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: now taht summer vacation is upon me, and I /only/ need to work full time, i have been fishing for projects

Threedee Shepherd: projects of what kind?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: constructive ways to invest my energy, preferably involving community

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: ideally, contributing to the lasting public good

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: so, here I am ;-)

Threedee Shepherd: OK, can you give examples of things that are not harmful/hurtful and such, that do NOT contribute to the public good?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: well, not too inward focused

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i think priorities are important.

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: but, i suppose you could make a strong case for lots of activities

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: gambling. if i spent the summer gambling, i doubt that would contribute much to the public good

Threedee Shepherd: Perhaps it might help the economy?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: heh. that's how we got here, no?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: maybe it is the way out

Threedee Shepherd: No, we got here by speculation, honest gambling does not destroy resources, it only moves them around with some multiplier effect.

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: so, what has PaB been up too lately. Aside from what I might find on the site?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: (the short version. of course i could read all the logs....)

Threedee Shepherd: nothing significantly different.I think perhaps attendance is off a bit--at least at sessions I go to--but there are many new members. A group is meeting for a multi-day retreat in First Life in California, in August

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: excellent.

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i did read a book lately that got me thinking about this project again

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: finite and infinite games

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: by Carse, I think. it was all about looking at life thorugh play

Threedee Shepherd: what is a typical example of each. Checkers is finite?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: for sure. but it was a strange book. not really made of definitions or arguments. more like assertions, with the flavor of koans

    Threedee Shepherd: ahh

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finite_...Infinite_Games

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: finite games are the kind that can have winners

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: that's important. and, notions of how no player, of eitehr type, can ever play unwillingly

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: anyway, it was lots of fun, and reminded me alot of PaB's founding mantra

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: are any of you going to the RL retreat?

    Threedee Shepherd: I am not

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: has the practice changed much?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: or, stil revolves 9second breaks, every 15 minutes?

Threedee Shepherd: I do not think so.

Threedee Shepherd: much the same, though some are now focusing on what it means to *appreciate* during the 9-sec

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: that's interesting.

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: riffing on the 9 seconds. you could do that forever ;-)

Threedee Shepherd: I find that I seem to have incorporated a kind of calmness into my life that often takes the place of regular 9-sec exercises

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: that's kinda what happened to me w/ yoga

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: although i know that's partially a lazy excuse

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: but, it did change my life, and also taught me how to integrate stretching and tension into my daily life

    Threedee Shepherd: I understand.

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i do remember when i started, w/in a few months, i felt like stress had disappeared from my life

Threedee Shepherd: I have the sense that the intensity shown by Pema is unusual. Many sessions are interesting discussions, but do not have a focus on experiences during the 9-sec exercise

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i vaguely remember you were interseted in kaballah a while back. has any of that woven its way into the conversatoin?

    Threedee Shepherd: no

Threedee Shepherd: My personal sense is that my sustained effort is no longer sustained

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: you're here. that's something

Threedee Shepherd: I like the people who attend and the topics that get discussed. The sense of finding some deeper sense of being is not as strong for me

syros Soulstar: thanks fredrich three , ade :) sleep well

    Threedee Shepherd: bye

    Adelene Dawner: cya, Syros

    syros Soulstar: nite:)

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: gn

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i think i better get going soon too.

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: don't want to over due it on reentry

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: ;-)

Threedee Shepherd: it is good to see you. How much more school is left for you?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: but, fear not, 3 - i've got plenty more crazy ideas to share

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: oh gosh - i'm indentured for the better part of the next decade

    Threedee Shepherd: ok?

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: at the rate i am going, probably about 2 more years of coursework, then that little project at the end

    Threedee Shepherd: mmhmm

Friedrich Ochsenhorn: feeling good about it though.

    Friedrich Ochsenhorn: anyway, goodnight folks

    Threedee Shepherd: goodnight

    Adelene Dawner: 'night :)
