The Guardian for this meeting was Stim Morane. The comments are by Stim Morane.
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
Stim Morane: hi Scathach and Yakuzza
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Stim, yakuzza:)
Yakuzza Lethecus: i hope it's not that muggy in that states or in ireland
Scathach Rhiadra: the weather?
Yakuzza Lethecus: right
Yakuzza Lethecus: is there another meaning of muggy ?
Scathach Rhiadra: ah, can't think of one if there is
Stim Morane: it's pleasant in my area, thanks
Scathach Rhiadra: it is very humid here
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey fef
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Fefonz
Fefonz Quan: Hello Stim, Scathach, Yakuzza!
Stim Morane: hi Fefonz
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Solo, long time no see:)
Solobill Laville: Hi, Scath, hi everyone! :)
Fefonz Quan: Hey Solo :)
Stim Morane: hi solo
Solobill Laville: Hi Stim, Fef, Yakuzza :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: hi solo
Stim Morane: Hi Wol
Wol Euler: sorry I'm late.
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Wol
Solobill Laville: Heya, Wol :)
Fefonz Quan: Hey Wol!
Wol Euler: hello solo, yakuzza, fef, stim, scath
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey wol
Wol Euler considers where to sit, to retain the symmetrical arrangement
Fefonz Quan: ununleash your sword and sit with us :)
Scathach Rhiadra: :)
Wol Euler: hello sophia
sophia Placebo: greetings
Fefonz Quan: hey Sophia
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Sophia
Stim Morane: hi sophia
Yakuzza Lethecus: hi sophia
Solobill Laville: Hello, Sophia :)
Wol Euler: nice to see you again, Solo! How are you?
Solobill Laville: I'm well...getting over a very busy spell...
Wol Euler: good :)
Solobill Laville: :)
sophia Placebo: hi pila
Wol Euler: hello ipla
Fefonz Quan: Hi Pila
Wol Euler: *pila
Solobill Laville: Hey Pila :)
Scathach Rhiadra: hello Pila
Pila Mulligan: greetings everyone :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: hi pila
Wol Euler grins
Stim Morane: hi Pila
Scathach Rhiadra: musical chairs:)?
Wol Euler: mmm, can't see a way to solve it ...
sophia Placebo: :)
Pila Mulligan: there is symmetry in the 4:2:2 arrangement Wol
sophia Placebo: 2:0
Wol Euler: sorry, I can't help it :)
Fefonz Quan: yes you can!
Wol Euler: true
Wol Euler: I usually do.
Pila Mulligan: is there any association between luck and dharma?
Stim Morane: For example?
Fefonz Quan: luck should be a part of dharma, sin't it?
Fefonz Quan: isn't it?
Wol Euler wonders what "luck" is ...
Pila Mulligan: well, not so much is this luck or is this dharma in a given situation, but do traditions that adopt dharma as a device to explain reality ever associate luck with it?
Fefonz Quan: if you lack it you would know :)
Wol Euler: yes, but what _is_ it? :)
Wol Euler: the fingerprint of God?
Wol Euler: Being playing a good-humoured practical joke?
Pila Mulligan: Wol, fortune cookies may soemtimes refer to luck
Stim Morane: Sorry, Pila ... I'm still not following the intent of your question.
Solobill Laville wonders about "dharma as a device"....
Fefonz Quan: are fingerprints for for Gods unique like for men? then you can recognize which God gave you which luck
Pila Mulligan: a device to explain, more exactly
Pila Mulligan: to explain reality or describe it
Solobill Laville: ah
Pila Mulligan: the intent is to explore the concept of dharma, Stim
Pila Mulligan: maybe in broader terms -- to see if it can reach the concept of luck
Fefonz Quan: (Dharma has some multiple meanings, that makes the question a little ambigiuos)
Pila Mulligan: yes, and so the answer may also be ambiguous .... but, it is anice topic
Fefonz Quan: luck can be also in the eyes of the beholder
Stim Morane: The main emphasis was always on the connection between one's actions (including one's intentions) and what eventually comes as a result. Luck wasn't part of that picture, although speaking very loosely people would speak of "good fortune" (meaning, good consequences of good actions).
Pila Mulligan: ah, thank you -- that's what I wa swondering
Pila Mulligan: good fortune then
Solobill Laville: Right - and I was thinking a more maleable topic might be "luck and karma"...
Pila Mulligan: :)
Solobill Laville: but that may not have been Pila's intent... ;)
Stim Morane: "luck" in the ordinary sense of something nice that "just happens" wouldn't be part of any traditional Dharma tradition.
Pila Mulligan: it works, Solo :)
Wol Euler: My grandfather used to say "you make your own luck" - by being open and receptive to what comes
Wol Euler: (and by putting in the endless hard work to get yourself to a place where luck might happen)
Stim Morane: yes, Wol. That actually seems to be true, in fact.
Pila Mulligan: so let's tune luck back to good fortune then
Fefonz Quan nods to Wol
Solobill Laville: Perhaps "good fortune" is really based upon the "view" of the recipient of the fortune
Solobill Laville: So good is very subjective...
Stim Morane: doubtless that is true, Solo.
Stim Morane: but not surprisingly, the tradition has its own idea of what is "good" or fortunate.
Stim Morane: :)
Pila Mulligan: so maybe the better termed idea is the rlationship of good fortune to dharma and karma
Fefonz Quan: Hey Nymf!
Nymf Hathaway: Hello everyone :)
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Nymf
sophia Placebo: hi nymf
Wol Euler: hello nymf
Solobill Laville: Hiya, Nymf
Pila Mulligan: hi Nymf
Stim Morane: hi nymf
Pila Mulligan: hi Qt
Qt Core: hi all
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Qt
Wol Euler: hello qt
sophia Placebo: hi qt
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Qt
Stim Morane: hi Qt
Solobill Laville: Yo, Qt
Fefonz Quan: there are notions that 'as you understand karma better and act upon it'/'progress in teh spiritual path' then better things will happen to you. I am not sure i can agree with that on the straight level
Stim Morane: As with other religions, the idea is basically what the Chinese would call "being in accord with Tao". If you're in accord with reality, you enjoy reality rather than the unsatisfactoriness that accompanies being out of sync, not in accord, lost.
Fefonz Quan: and yet, i guess one shouldn't expect 'no pain' while living
Stim Morane: pain is something else ... can't skip that.
Stim Morane: without pain, we probably couldn't even develop as living organisms.
Fefonz Quan: yes, heard once that slogan: 'Pain is inevitable, suffering is an option'
Stim Morane: yes
Stim Morane: But the word "suffering" also means different things.
Fefonz Quan: (well, that was in a buddhist retreat :))
Solobill Laville: This idea of "being in accord..." seems to transcend the idea of "unlucky" or "lucky"
Stim Morane: :)
Stim Morane: yes, it's not really a matter of luck.
Stim Morane: neither the old traditions nor science seems to know what to do with "lucK"
Fefonz Quan: i would connect luck and appreciation
Solobill Laville: Maybe real LUCK is the miracle that anything is at all (?!) :)
Stim Morane: :)
Fefonz Quan: yes, that's also teh Multiverse approach :)
Wol Euler: "why does the world exist, when it would be so much easier for it not to?"
Fefonz Quan: and the answer will be - since we are here to ask that question
Fefonz Quan: fds
Fefonz Quan: (just an optional answer, surely)
Solobill Laville: That awareness of the miracle is appreciation, to your comment Fef...
Pila Mulligan: humans seem to get used to the fact that unexpected events happen regularly (maybe other critters do not have expectations to start with)
Pila Mulligan: the quality of those events are said by some schools to relate to one's intent or ethics
Fefonz Quan: if so, Pila, that the unexpected is to be expected in a way
Pila Mulligan: indeed, Fefonz
Pila Mulligan: ironic, eh :)
Solobill Laville: good unexpected = luck; bad unexpected = unluck then...
Pila Mulligan: so to speak, Solo
Pila Mulligan: but it is all part of nature :)
Fefonz Quan: so maybe luck is just our narrow interpertation of things.
Pila Mulligan: hi arabella
arabella Ella: hiya
Qt Core: hi ara
Stim Morane: hi arabella
Fefonz Quan: I am sure that there are events in my life, that i considered unlucky at a time, and looking back at them changes it completely
Wol Euler: hello ara
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Ara
Wol Euler: yes, fef.
Fefonz Quan: Hey Ara
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Arabella :)
Pila Mulligan: can you elaborate, please, Fefonz?
Pila Mulligan: wb Solo
Wol Euler: wb solo.
Solobill Laville: thx :)
Wol Euler: symmetrical again :)
Pila Mulligan: :)
Fefonz Quan: i can give a hypothtic situation, for example when you didn't got to the school you wanted and consider it unlucky, and the you find the love of your life there.
Fefonz Quan: (in the other school)
Pila Mulligan: maybe that is karma :)
Qt Core: that almost happened to me... sadly the love i found was IT and not a girl ;-)
Fefonz Quan: maybe, but the 'luck' tag one gave just shows that it was given without seeing teh big picture
Fefonz Quan: IT will never leave you Qt :)
Wol Euler: oh but it does :(
Wol Euler: you get too slow to learn new languages.
sophia Placebo: i imagined luck like passing through security without being cought , suposidly you were stealingfor th firsttime
Pila Mulligan: like the force of your intent blocks the scanner?
sophia Placebo: i dont know what dose that mean more but that is luck
sophia Placebo: things that went good for you though it shouldnt
Fefonz Quan: or you thought it shouldn't
sophia Placebo: no it really shoudlnt
sophia Placebo: like jumping over a low cause the worker in that department was too busey to notice
sophia Placebo: or too happy
Solobill Laville: So, luck then draws from Indifferent Universal Chance...(?)
Pila Mulligan: :)
sophia Placebo: either way , you were not really thinking of jumping of the law and getting what you want easly but it happenes
Solobill Laville: Whereas karma, obviously would be quite different...
Pila Mulligan: when I renewed my driver's license last time the clerk forgot to do the eye exam
Fefonz Quan: not sure about escaping the law, but i find that many times we get things more easily than we expected.
Pila Mulligan: now maybe this relates to interconectedness?
Solobill Laville: What doesn't ?? ;)
Fefonz Quan: Pila, you should stop drag this issue to Stim's session all teh time!
Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: inadvertant
Pila Mulligan: :)
Stim Morane: :)
Pila Mulligan: (Pila fibs)
Solobill Laville: This is a new symetric pattern - I love it!
Wol Euler: :)
Solobill Laville: (took a photo)
Wol Euler: me too :)
Pila Mulligan: reminds me of a courtroom, with the jury over here and oposing counsel over there
Stim Morane: hi Mick
Wol Euler pats the cusion next to herself.
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Mickorod :)
Solobill Laville: heh
Pila Mulligan: hi Mick
Wol Euler: hello mick
Solobill Laville: Heya, Mick
sophia Placebo: fef not necessarly laws , like your kid being lost in a public place or a big city and being found really far a way by one of your relatives or friends
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Mick
arabella Ella: hiya mick
sophia Placebo: hi mick
Mickorod Renard: hiya folks
Solobill Laville: Take my spot to Mick to keep the symmetry...I must be off, folks
Fefonz Quan: oh, Mick, look what you've done
sophia Placebo: bye solo
Wol Euler: bye solo, take care.
Pila Mulligan: bye Solo
Stim Morane: bye
Nymf Hathaway: Bye
Scathach Rhiadra: bye Solo
Solobill Laville: Bye all!
Mickorod Renard: bye solo,,thanks
Fefonz Quan: bye Solo!
arabella Ella: bye Solo
Fefonz Quan: Now, one person can change his sit, and still preserve teh symmetry
Mickorod Renard: he he
Nymf Hathaway: yup me :)
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Pila Mulligan: :)
Wol Euler cams for anoher photo
Wol Euler grins
Fefonz Quan: yeah
Nymf Hathaway: Nice Fefonz :)
Wol Euler: geeks at play :) I love it
Nymf Hathaway: :)
Mickorod Renard: do you think we are all geeks?
Nymf Hathaway: hehehehe
Mickorod Renard: spose we are,,in a way
Wol Euler: those who are playing, are :)
Pila Mulligan: geek may be a subjective charcaterization
Wol Euler: and compared to the rest of our societies, who are drinking beer or watching tv: we are totally übergeeky
Nymf Hathaway: Likes geeks :)
Nymf Hathaway: ubergeeky :)
Pila Mulligan: :)
Fefonz Quan: [14:07] Mickorod Renard: do you think we are all geeks?
Fefonz Quan: it's like sittin in a star trek conference and ask that Mick :)
Nymf Hathaway: :)))
Wol Euler: :)
Mickorod Renard: he he he
Qt Core: >:-)
Wol Euler: ha!
Wol Euler: nice one qt
Mickorod Renard: whats wrong with star trek,,i love it
Fefonz Quan: exactly Mick!
Nymf Hathaway: :))
Mickorod Renard: oops,,now I have confirmed I am a geek
Qt Core: that is not real... yet
Nymf Hathaway: Would everyone here enter the enterprise or voyager?
Stim Morane: Gotta go. Thanks, everyone!
Mickorod Renard: bye stim
Fefonz Quan: Bye Stim!
Wol Euler: bye stim, take care
Pila Mulligan: there were several flavors of the Enterprise
arabella Ella: bye stim
Scathach Rhiadra: bye Stim, thank you
Pila Mulligan: bye Stim
Nymf Hathaway: Bye bye Stim :)
Qt Core: at warp speed too!
Qt Core: bye stim
sophia Placebo: bye stim
Fefonz Quan: the main question i think is - would you enter the teleportation deck?
Pila Mulligan: what's so unuusual about TPs?
Nymf Hathaway: yes good question :)
Scathach Rhiadra: good night all, Namasté:)
arabella Ella: i would allow myself to be TP - d of course
Pila Mulligan: bye Scath
Fefonz Quan: Night Scath
Mickorod Renard: nameste scath
Wol Euler: 'night scath
arabella Ella: ciao Scath
Nymf Hathaway: Bye Scathach and Wol :)
sophia Placebo: night scath
arabella Ella: siao Wol
Mickorod Renard: nite wol
Wol Euler: oh no, I'm not going, just looking for a new seat :)
sophia Placebo: bye wol
Nymf Hathaway: oh sorry Wol :(
Pila Mulligan: wb w/o bye
Nymf Hathaway: :)
Wol Euler: there was a winning move before Scath left ...
Qt Core: well, if it is ever going to work the other end of the tp beam is you or not, not the same matter, and the soul/character ?
Nymf Hathaway: yes Fefonz is in the way :)
Wol Euler: mmhmm
arabella Ella: or time travel would be fun too
Pila Mulligan: now we are normal
sophia Placebo: hmm i thought about crashing while tp
Wol Euler: thanks qt
sophia Placebo: where i would be then?
Wol Euler: yeah, I would fear taht the TP room would run on Vista.
Nymf Hathaway: hehhe
Nymf Hathaway: windows for sure
Pila Mulligan: our qunatumm entanglements might get confused
Fefonz Quan: the ones that said YES so fast, should read that little story:
Fefonz Quan: http://www.infinityplus.co.uk/nonfiction/dinosaur.htm
Fefonz Quan: (this is a review, didn't find an e copy of it)
Mickorod Renard: we may end up tp'ing into Wols shower,,when she's singing
Wol Euler: heheheheh
Wol Euler: earplugs availaboe on request
Nymf Hathaway: Read it partly and bookmarked it, thanks Fefonz :)
Wol Euler: ty, fef
Pila Mulligan: same
Fefonz Quan: i warn you, after you read that you want step into A TP facility again!
Wol Euler: :)
arabella Ella: i read most of it and have not changed my opinion yet Fef :)
Fefonz Quan: the last part is what matters :)
arabella Ella: :)
Pila Mulligan needs to slip away -- bye for now :)
Fefonz Quan: bye Pila
sophia Placebo: bye pila
Wol Euler: bye pila, take care
Nymf Hathaway: Bye bye Pila :)) see you soon
arabella Ella: bye Pila
Wol Euler: well done, qt
Wol Euler: :)
Nymf Hathaway: Storm made these seats on purpose...to keep us busy
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: clearly a man who has sufferd through many dull meetings with uniform seating
Nymf Hathaway: :))))
Qt Core: there should be a little gentle chime playing when a symmetrical disposition is created ;-)
Wol Euler: that would be nice! but probably enormously difficult to compute
Nymf Hathaway: oh new possibilities :))
Wol Euler: other than brute force matching
Qt Core: a precomputes list of configuration
Wol Euler: right
Fefonz Quan: Qt, i am afraid this will finally destroy any chance that we discuss SOME of the things we gathered here for :)
Wol Euler laughs
Qt Core: but we will surely appreciate simmetry ;-)
sophia Placebo: good night all
Wol Euler: 'night sophia, take care
Mickorod Renard: bye sophia
Fefonz Quan: good night Sophia
Nymf Hathaway: Bye bye
Mickorod Renard: nice outfit
Qt Core: bye
arabella Ella: nite everyone i must go too
Fefonz Quan: night Ara
Mickorod Renard: bye Ara
Nymf Hathaway: Bye Arabella :)
Qt Core: simmetric exits too!
Wol Euler: heheheh
Nymf Hathaway: we can go for the inner circle :)
Wol Euler: but not symmetrically
Wol Euler: oh yse, we could get a rotational symmetry
Mickorod Renard: well,,before I get comfey i must be going too,,bye and thanks
Mickorod Renard: nd go well
Wol Euler: 'night mick, see you tomorrow
Qt Core: bye mick
Mickorod Renard: yep tommorow
Fefonz Quan: bye Mick
Nymf Hathaway: Bye bye Mickorod, I will keep naming you like this untill you tell me I can use Mick....too late :(
Wol Euler: good, fef.
Nymf Hathaway: :)
Qt Core: we need a good shrink, you know, right ?
Fefonz Quan: think i spot some attachment to symmetry here
Nymf Hathaway: hahhaha Qt
Fefonz Quan: thought i already shrunk the pool Qt ;-)
Wol Euler: this would even balance by mass, if the playgoda were poised on a pinhead below the fountain
Nymf Hathaway: :))
Qt Core: (talks the one that spend half an hour aligning windowses each morning in his pc)
Wol Euler: heheheheh
Fefonz Quan: thich one is it?
Fefonz Quan: will leave soon guys.
Fefonz Quan: take care!
Nymf Hathaway: well Wol....its now up to you...as I am leaving :)
Wol Euler: goodnight fef, enjoy the rest of the day
Wol Euler: bye nymf, take care.
Nymf Hathaway: Have a good night or day everyone
Qt Core: bye
Nymf Hathaway: bye bye
Wol Euler: :)
Qt Core: it may be interesting to note i choose almost unconsciously always the furthest position... that is social me ;-)
Wol Euler: perhaps you are unconsciously looking to balance the weights?
Wol Euler: it does fascinate me, though, the way that we occupy space in SL
Wol Euler: why people have favourite virtual chairs
Wol Euler: when we could in fact sit sideways on the columns, defying gravity
Qt Core: i like to balance things
Qt Core: as in rl objects
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: I'm sorry, but it is getting very late. I must be going.
Qt Core: sleeptime for me too
Wol Euler: goodnight qt, goodnight Yakuzza
Qt Core: we need a pad in the fountain!
Wol Euler: yakkers seems to be asleep already :)
Qt Core: ;-)
Wol Euler: ciao, buona notte
Qt Core: buona notte a te
