Pema Pera: Hi Adams and Qt!
    Vendy Walpole: Hello
Pema Pera: And hi Vendy, great to see you here again!
    Vendy Walpole: you too Pema
    Qt Core: hi Vendy
    Vendy Walpole: Hi Qt
Adams Rubble: Hello Vendy. Nice to meet you :)
    Vendy Walpole: :)
    Vendy Walpole: ty
    Adams Rubble: Hello Eos :)
    Pema Pera: Hi Eos!
    Vendy Walpole: hi
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Pema, Adams, QT, Vendy
    Eos Amaterasu: 'lizzy
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Pema Pera: Has everybody here met Vendy yet?
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    Eliza Madrigal: Hello everyone! :)
    Adams Rubble: Hello Eliza :)
    Vendy Walpole: Hello Eliza
    Pema Pera: hi Eliza!
Qt Core: today i stumbled on this interesting little read: http://www.kwanumzen.org/pzc/newslet...-1997-oct.html
Eos Amaterasu: the Buddha said, "Life is very short, please investigate it closely." :-)
    sophia Placebo: greetings
    Qt Core: hi sophia
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sophia :)
    Vendy Walpole: Hi
    Adams Rubble: Hello Sophia :)
    Pema Pera: hi Sophia!
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Sophia!
    Pema Pera: Hi Steve!
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Steve :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello
    Adams Rubble: Hello Steve :)
    Eos Amaterasu: ahum, Steve!
    sophia Placebo: hi steve :)
Vendy Walpole: We have met Pema with some poeple here at some gatherings, spiritual, buddhist (as reply to your question)
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello
Pema Pera: Nice to have you here again, Vendy.
Pema Pera: Vendy is from Macedonia
Vendy Walpole: I will come more often I believe
Eos Amaterasu: A paraphrase: "if you meet PaB on the road, drop it!"
Pema Pera: another addition to our international flavor :)
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, nice to see you Vendy. I'm not sure if we've been at a session together but certainly around SL :)
    Adams Rubble: yes :)
Eos Amaterasu: Great to meet you, Vendy!
Vendy Walpole: yes, in Buddha center Eliza
Vendy Walpole: nice to see you all here
    Eliza Madrigal nods
    Killing Buddha
Eos Amaterasu: QT, can you say more about your link to http://www.kwanumzen.org/pzc/newslet...-1997-oct.html ?
Pema Pera: I like the "drop PaB", Eos :-). Actually, there are many other traditions that have similar kinds of advice as described in "Kill the Buddha" although not so radically expressed. For example, in Medieval Christian mystic writing, there is talk about a kind of great doubt, in which you doubt everything including (your understanding of) everything you've heard and read.
    I recount a dream
Adams Rubble: I had a dream this week that is relevant to this
    Eos Amaterasu listengs
sophia Placebo: attentive to adams story
Adams Rubble: Last weekend I talked about my experiences with Tibetan symbolism
Adams Rubble: I felt a connection which I did not understand
Qt Core: i just stumbled on it via www.stumbleupon.com as one of the first things i read this morning and it stuck rolling like a wave in my head when nothing else was occupying it
Adams Rubble: In my dream I was a pop singer as this avatar
Adams Rubble: and I had a little backup band and I played too
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eos Amaterasu: ~^_^~
Vendy Walpole: Would you like to do it in rl, ever wished to have it Adams?
    sophia Placebo: hi enlight
    Enlight2k Yapungku: hi
Adams Rubble: and I sang harmony in different sessions and I mixed them together
    Eliza Madrigal: Hello enlight
    Adams Rubble: Hello Enlight
    Pema Pera: Hi En!
Adams Rubble: There was a second singer who performed more like a karakoke singer
    Enlight2k Yapungku: no
Vendy Walpole: I wonder perhaps its something burried in you as old wish?
Adams Rubble: she sang to reconrdings
    Vendy Walpole: even from childhood?
    --BELL--
Adams Rubble: at first I felt that what she was doing was inferior
Adams Rubble: Then I suddenly realized that what we were doing was actually the same thing except that I was supplying the parts
Adams Rubble: At some point I began to realize this was about various "ways"
Adams Rubble: we can choose to go it alone and provide all the harmonies ourselves
Adams Rubble: or we can sing with a tradional "way"
Adams Rubble: There was no value judgement in my dream
Adams Rubble: just a way of looking at it from another angle
    Adams Rubble: without the trappings
    Adams Rubble: --end--
Of course the dream did not include an evaluation fo the results :)
sophia Placebo: all that in a dream ?
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Adams Rubble nods
    sophia Placebo: lovely
Eliza Madrigal: I love that, Adams!
    Eos Amaterasu: very communicative
    Pema Pera: inspiring too!
    Eos Amaterasu: relevant
Pema Pera: do you remember some of the songs?
Missed this question. No Pema, it does not seem to be an important point
sophia Placebo: so you think btw you and yourself in the dream , that inteprtaton was not after waking up right ?
Adams Rubble: It was mid last week so there may be some interpretation added but I did realize at the time it was in response to my earlier dreams wiith Tibetan symbolism
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)
Adams Rubble: Hello kruzz andd Zen
Pema Pera: Hi kruzz and Zen!
    Zen Arado: Hi everyone
Thanks to Eliza for quietly helping the newcomers
Vendy Walpole: I am curiosu to hear about Tibetan symbolism Adams and your dreams earlier
Adams Rubble: Oh sorry about that Vendy
Eliza Madrigal: yes me too, how that ties together
Vendy Walpole: if you can't talk of it, its okay

Last week during the Guardian Meeting I talked about that experience

Adams Rubble: I have started to relate some of my experiences with avatars with Tibetan bodgisattvas and Buddhas in my dreams
Adams Rubble: The connections are a bit hazy but it has seemed very powerful to me
Adams Rubble: and scared me a bit
    Vendy Walpole: why scared?
Adams Rubble: It is metaphorical to some struglles I am srtill undergoing
    Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: There may be things I am not yet ready to face
Eliza Madrigal: Well it is fascinating to me that you are playing various harmonies at once...
Adams Rubble: things I still may need to do
Adams Rubble: When one identifies with a powerful Bodhisattva the implications are fearful :)
Vendy Walpole: it is your subconscious speaking to you, you mean?
    Adams Rubble: yes Vendy
Vendy Walpole: I find it very useful
Eos Amaterasu: Can you say which one, Adams?
Vendy Walpole: you can face what you avoid in rl, in your dreams and even find the solution
Eliza Madrigal: hm, and someone might come along to say "This means ___" but you are interpreting for yourself and listening for personal significance... which goes back a bit to what Qt quoted
    Adams Rubble: Tara, Eos
Adams Rubble: with the white tara
Eos Amaterasu had a White German Shepherd dog named Tara :-)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Adams Rubble: My dream this week was a modification
    Adams Rubble: :) Eos
Adams Rubble: another way of looking
Vendy Walpole: You saw yourself in your deam, as White Tara Adams?
Adams Rubble: It is a bit more than that Vendy
    Adams Rubble: This starts to get very persona;
Vendy Walpole: To me, it is a wonderful dream, but you know better what it was
Adams Rubble: It goes to knowing what I think I should be doing and maybe afraid of taking that step
Adams Rubble: This morning I was thinking back to transition times earlier in life
Adams Rubble: and seeing how I made choices at those times
    --BELL--
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, that's somewhat what bodhisattvas speak to, potential, challenge
    kruzz Alex: hi all
Adams Rubble: and how some of those choices were compromises
Adams Rubble: Have you been here before kruzz?
    sophia Placebo: hi kruzz
    kruzz Alex: nope sir
    kruzz Alex: maam
Adams Rubble: let me give you a notecard :)
    kruzz Alex: k
kruzz Alex: let me know wats it al abt
Qt Core: sadly i have to leave, have fun killing buddhas ;-)
    sophia Placebo: bye qt
    Zen Arado: bye QT
    stevenaia Michinaga: by Qt
    Adams Rubble: bye Qt :)
    Vendy Walpole: bye
    Eos Amaterasu: bye
    Pema Pera: bye Qt!
Pema Pera: Can you say more about choices, and fear in that connection, Adams?
Adams Rubble: We meet here four times a day Kruzz, to discuss many of experiences with stopping very 15 minutes for none seconds to look at ourselves
    kruzz Alex: hey sophie
kruzz Alex: i m not getting wats goin on
Adams Rubble: you are welcome to join us krruzz
Adams Rubble: I am talking about some of my experiences
    kruzz Alex: wel thank u
sophia Placebo: you may sit and listen ! discussing our observation in this life -which is wide enogh topic that may include everything -
Adams Rubble: to answer Pema, that was a thought that flashed across this morning briefly that needs some thought and some is personal but I'll try
Adams Rubble: I have one example in political terms
Adams Rubble: when I was in college I became very radical as most of us do then
Adams Rubble: I was uncomfortable with that
Adams Rubble: so I moderated those views by mixing them with prevous more comfortable views
Adams Rubble: now that I am opening up myself
Adams Rubble: I am finding I think those more radical views are what i really feel is right
Adams Rubble: (note how I deftly avoid the spiritual question)
    kruzz Alex: thannk u elizza
Eliza Madrigal: :) no worries... we all need help
Adams Rubble: What if more is demanded of me than I think I am ready to give?
    Opening Our Hearts
Zen Arado: Pema Codron talks a lot about opening ourselves to our soft tendder heart within, but do you think you could open too much too fast?
    Adams Rubble: interesting question Zen
Zen Arado: she never seems to mention hat
Eliza Madrigal: This is something I ask myself a lot, too, Adams. I seem to come back to feeling that the asking comes in order to make room to be able to... ?
Zen Arado: most of us go too much in theother direction
Adams Rubble: There are numerous people who say yes when asked to do very difficult things
Eos Amaterasu: If you open too fast you get feedback
Eos Amaterasu: best to listen to it
Eos Amaterasu: and drop the "what if I open too....", the what if part
    Eliza Madrigal: Hmm yes
kruzz Alex: but feedbacks are biased by perceptions
Adams Rubble: we can spend our whole lives saying "well..."
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Vendy Walpole: true, and life is too short as was said here
Vendy Walpole: better to make a mistake than not to try, wise people say
Zen Arado: maybe we should say 'to hell with it I am going to open no matter what happens'
Pema Pera: and to listen to what you feel after making a mistake, yes
    Eliza Madrigal nods to Vendy
Pema Pera: as Eos pointed out
    kruzz Alex: yup
Pema Pera: it is all a matter of finding a natural balance, like in doing tai chi or yoga
Vendy Walpole: mistakes are our teachers to understand the things or ourselves
Zen Arado: a natural protective balance?
Adams Rubble: We can do harm to others if what we are hearing is not the right voice
kruzz Alex: so i still have a confusion to find out wats good voice?
Zen Arado: the voice of ego is pretty strong and deceptive :)
Vendy Walpole: we can hear the good voice or intuition if we remain in silence and observe innerself
Eos Amaterasu: maybe a "good voice" is not found by picking and choosing
Eos Amaterasu: yes, what ou said, Vendy
    Eos Amaterasu: you
Pema Pera: yes indeed, Zen, and hopefully as a group we can help each other to listen more carefully
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, was thinking about our pauses... about silence helping us to be sensitive
    kruzz Alex: good!!
Eos Amaterasu: it's a really good question
sophia Placebo: i open my windows in breezy days ! opening in the hot humid summer or the cold rainy winter may not be a good thing to do , i guess opening shouldnt be not mindfull or repulsive or reactive thing
Eos Amaterasu: and similar to the one about how do you make decisions?
    Pema Pera: nice, Sophia!!
    Eliza Madrigal: lovely
    Adams Rubble: :)
    --BELL--
    Zen Arado: :)
kruzz Alex: u guys are ammazing ..i m not yet matured spiritually to ur extents
kruzz Alex: good to see u
    Vendy Walpole: kruzz
    kruzz Alex: yes vendy
Vendy Walpole: if you can say it aloud, you are matured
    kruzz Alex: yes..thank you
    Vendy Walpole: welcome
sophia Placebo: have to leave , see you all later , Thanks Adams for sharing a lovely dream :)
kruzz Alex: but i m still not clear abt the discussions
    Adams Rubble: bye Sophia :)
    Zen Arado: bye Sophia
    Pema Pera: bye Sophia
    Vendy Walpole: bye
    kruzz Alex: bye sophie
kruzz Alex: k..sorry i guess i came in between..
Adams Rubble: I was talking about a dream I had kruzz
Zen Arado: we can also wrap ourselves in a nice comfortable cocoon of delusions. Neditation and practice helps to cut through that layer
Pema Pera: You're born today, I noticed, welcome to SL, Kruzz!
Adams Rubble: oh, lots to be confused about
    Zen Arado: happy 0 :)
Adams Rubble: welcome to Second Life
Eos Amaterasu: A lot there, Adams, re identity, embodiment, in SL, RL, dreams, (buddhist) imagery, deity-bodies
    Helping the World
Vendy Walpole: You reminds me Adams on Tibet's opening to the world, they know it can be dangerous for themselves but they have a desire to help to the world
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    Vendy Walpole: remind*
kruzz Alex: umm..yep..its ma first day in SL..
Eos Amaterasu: Plus Tara as emanation of Bodhisattva of Compassion embodies as male or female
Zen Arado: how did you find this place so fast ?
Eliza Madrigal: :) Welcome Kruzz... nice to find Play as Being on one's first day!
Vendy Walpole: Tibet = their teachers, monks and lamas
kruzz Alex: i jus searched for india..so i found this place in the list
    Adams Rubble: yes Eos
    Eos Amaterasu: (just like Columbus)
Pema Pera: Kruzz, if you want to find us back later, then go to the top bar of your screen, choose "world" and then choose "create landmark here" from the menu
    Eos Amaterasu: (to kruzz :-)
    kruzz Alex: haha..
    Adams Rubble: and yes Vendy
    Pema Pera: hehehe, Eos!
Adams Rubble: hehe, finally figured that out
Eliza Madrigal: :) yes took me a moment too... giggling
Vendy Walpole: tryint to say that opening has a certain risk we need to measure and decide what is more important
Adams Rubble: very well put Vendy
    Vendy Walpole: thank you :)
Adams Rubble: I was trying to say something like that
    stevenaia Michinaga: risk?
    kruzz Alex: thanku vendy
Vendy Walpole: yw, just ask if you need anything kruzz
Adams Rubble: Steve, in making big changes in ourselves there is risk
Zen Arado: I worry that the ego can make excuses to procrastinate though
    kruzz Alex: i ll
Adams Rubble: yes, it can and is in this self
Eliza Madrigal: And maybe we are unclear that means we need to listen even more deeply somehow, which is difficult when we feel we need to respond right away
Eliza Madrigal: *when we are unclear (like my sleepy-this-morning sentence)
Zen Arado: when you open you get hurt
    Zen Arado: thats for sure
    Zen Arado: happened to me
Adams Rubble: it is a risk we take
Adams Rubble: benefits vs. the hurt or pain
Eos Amaterasu: I think what Pema Chodron is talking about is staying open to that hurt
Zen Arado: we get hurt by avoidance too though
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eos Amaterasu: not pushing or pulling it
Pema Pera: (have to leave for a couple minutes; see you later at the Village Hall)
    Zen Arado: yes Eos
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    Zen Arado: good point
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye Pema
Adams Rubble: (just note that it is four minutes to the hour)
Vendy Walpole: if we stay in the prison we make around us, we shall be hurt for sure too
    Zen Arado: bye Pema
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, will have to segue
    kruzz Alex: bye
    Adams Rubble: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks Adams, for such a wonderful session... much to think about
    Vendy Walpole: indeed
    Zen Arado: yes thank you
Eos Amaterasu: Thank you for sharing this rich area, Adams
Adams Rubble: Ohhh, thank you all for your feedback
Eliza Madrigal: to let our hearts consider
Zen Arado: I have to go
    Zen Arado: bye
    Adams Rubble: bye Zen
    Vendy Walpole: Bye Zen
stevenaia Michinaga: interesting topic, risks of being open
kruzz Alex: but adams. it hurts only if u expect benefits
Vendy Walpole: and who says the growing is easy? :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps we can pick it up again sometime
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Adams Rubble: yes jurzz, that is true
    Adams Rubble: kurzz
kruzz Alex: so when we take risk its for realising what we are
    Eos Amaterasu: Ciao, bellas!
    Eliza Madrigal: MMM
kruzz Alex: every new realisation brings in new strengh
Eliza Madrigal: that is lovely kruzz
    Vendy Walpole: true kruzz
Adams Rubble: Some of us have another meeting at 8:00 and we must depart. thank you all for you contributions
Vendy Walpole: Ok, time to go for me, thank you all for this conversation
    --BELL--
