SophiaSharon Larnia: HI Yakuzza and Sophia :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: is there anything further planned on the islam ?
SophiaSharon Larnia: i love the witch costume Sophia! :))
Yakuzza Lethecus: like the islamic prayer theme session ?
    sophia Placebo: thnx sophia :)
sophia Placebo: no yak nothing :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: HI Gaya!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hiya gaya
sophia Placebo: hi gaya , how are you ? :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Hello sophia, SophiaSharon and Yakuzza :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Can't complain thanks, yourself?
SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry have to go afk for a minute :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: ok
sophia Placebo: why you do ask yak ?
sophia Placebo: im alive :) ty
Gaya Ethaniel: Can I lower this fountain do you mind?
    Gaya Ethaniel: :D
    sophia Placebo: sure !
    Gaya Ethaniel: ty
Yakuzza Lethecus: right now the theme sessions are only related to practice and buddist traditions so i would be curious if there is something different again :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: im sure something new will come around all the time :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Please feel free to suggest something to add to 'wish list' Yakuzza.
    sophia Placebo: hehe gaya
Yakuzza Lethecus: and obviously sophia is the only islamic person around here i know about
Yakuzza Lethecus: everyone else is just from the western cultures and the funny thing i also consider japan and korea as western in some way
Gaya Ethaniel: Yes sophia, I want to know about 'jihad' sometimes if you're ok whether in PaB or outside.
Yakuzza Lethecus: maybe i have to think about my terms :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hiya eliza
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Eliza :)
    Qt Core: hi all
    SophiaSharon Larnia: HI Eliza!
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Qt :)
    sophia Placebo: hi Eliza !
SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Qt! (snuck in beside me was distracted) :)
    sophia Placebo: hi Qt
Eliza Madrigal: Nice to see you all...looking so cute :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey qt
Gaya Ethaniel: Yes, Japan and Korea are heavily influenced by the West esp. US in some ways.
SophiaSharon Larnia: really? I still see the culture as more influenced by the idea of wu wei than the west
Gaya Ethaniel: oh ... forgot about the tag :)
sophia Placebo: well gaya , i dont know , hmm part of it can be in bap part of it cant be here
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
    --BELL--
Gaya Ethaniel: You can talk about what you see as relevant here? I'm sure many of us are interested in Islam.
Eliza Madrigal missed the first part of the discussion...
SophiaSharon Larnia: brb please sorry rl phone
sophia Placebo: whats relevant to pab isnt what you are asking about gaya :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Well Shinto in Japan and Shamanism in Korea are unique though Yakuzza.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Shyama
Eliza Madrigal: Hm, I never associate Shamanism with Korea
    Qt Core: hi Shyama
    sophia Placebo: hi shayama
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Shyama!
Gaya Ethaniel: I was interested in the concept of 'struggle'. Normally struggling isn't recommended in Buddhist context yet somewhere it fits in terms of right action & selflessnes?
    Shyama Sheryffe: hi:)
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Shyama :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi shy
Gaya Ethaniel: Well that what I think so far anyway.
SophiaSharon Larnia: can you say more Gaya?
Gaya Ethaniel: hm ... I'd first like to hear more from the expert >.<
SophiaSharon Larnia: this idea is also something ive been 'stuggling' with :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah ... ok
Eliza Madrigal looks around for experts
    SophiaSharon Larnia: giggles
Eliza Madrigal: I wonder if there is place for 'fake it til you make it'... meaning you act as rightly as you can while knowing/making room that a better way that might break through?
sophia Placebo: thats major jihad , -struggling- with self : resisting temporary desires to get more perminant rwards -worldy or heavenly-
Eliza Madrigal: Ohhh, in the context of jihad. Forgive me
    Eliza Madrigal listens
SophiaSharon Larnia: i think sometimes if an thought continues to arise it's meant to be addressed in someway
    SophiaSharon Larnia: listens
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wb yakuzza
    Yakuzza Lethecus: sry
Gaya Ethaniel: I think you're right SophiaSharon btw ... otherwise one won't repeat it constantly the same thing.
SophiaSharon Larnia: the same thoughts come to me when i attempt to drop and appreciate
Gaya Ethaniel: We talked about that yesterday ... accepting fully etc. It's not easy.
SophiaSharon Larnia: im so distracted just notice Sophia must have crashed ;9
    Eliza Madrigal nods
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wb Sophia
Eliza Madrigal: Oh wow, outfit even more dramatic. :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes its great
sophia Placebo: thanks , sorry lost connection
    sophia Placebo: thnx eliza
    Yakuzza Lethecus: wb
Gaya Ethaniel: During 1 pm session, I feel like a person with hearing problem. I miss a lot out because of lag heheheh
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Qt Core: is this time laggier than others ?
    sophia Placebo: :)
Eliza Madrigal: hm, yesterday bolonath said that there were two main points of the type of yoga he practices :Niyama/Yama ...one deals with others and one with self. Is that similar I wonder, sophia?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi fox
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: it is about behaviors mostly... in order to make progress
    sophia Placebo: hi fox
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Fox :))
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Fox :)
    Fox Monacular: hello everyone
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Fox :)
    Qt Core: hi fox
    Shyama Sheryffe: hi fox
sophia Placebo: gaya , did i get you right , is that what were you asking about : the self jihad ?
sophia Placebo: Eliza maybe , i dont know about those yoga types , i know about rights : your self right on you ,others rights on you , that would include behavours and ethics and lots of law regulations
SophiaSharon Larnia: i would be very interested to hear more about that Sophia
sophia Placebo: the jihad sophia ?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
    Gaya Ethaniel nods.
sophia Placebo: what is intersting about that ?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Johny :)
    Johny Weissberg: hi all
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hello johny
    Yakuzza Lethecus: ur now ?
    sophia Placebo: hi johny
    Yakuzza Lethecus: new here ?
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Johny :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Johny :)
Johny Weissberg: been once i think
    Qt Core: hi Johny
    Shyama Sheryffe: hi johny
SophiaSharon Larnia: about the idea of struggle, the view of overcoming these struggles
sophia Placebo: hmm , dont we do it daily ?
    Gaya Ethaniel nods.
SophiaSharon Larnia: first what the idea of what the struggle is, i believe in this sense it means against the baser side of our natures, i dont mean anything else that has been tagged onto it
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh yes
Gaya Ethaniel: I don't want to become like Gollum.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)))
    sophia Placebo: hehe gaya
Eliza Madrigal: 'Rules' can be freeing, though it goes against my grain to say such a thing... they can point to a higher point?
sophia Placebo: well true , lord of the ring has something about self desire resistance
sophia Placebo: i understand rules like this : im child who is learning
    --BELL--
Gaya Ethaniel: Please say more Eliza?
sophia Placebo: sophia , true ,but our nature isnt static , it reactive to its invironment , my desire , the base one might be innocent but my method to satesfy it might go wrong , like children cuorosity
Eliza Madrigal: I'm thinking of some of the things I've learned this year in the context of Stim's workshop and books/studies... that we try so hard to be 'free' sometimes...
SophiaSharon Larnia: i see what youre saying Sophia
Eliza Madrigal: structure can be a kind of glowing outline that helps us find our way in the dark
Eliza Madrigal: that's vague, I know :) I just see myself following more rules and such than I ever thought I would... rituals, etc
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hmmm
Johny Weissberg: depends on how rules r followed
    Johny Weissberg: aware or not
sophia Placebo: there is one thing i like too about rules is that it give you more time to rethink your actions , ie give your slower developed brain a chance to have a word
    sophia Placebo: slower.more developed*
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Gaya Ethaniel ponders ... I will probably think over this ... thanks Eliza :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Shyama Sheryffe: waves to all..
Eliza Madrigal: And true johny, I think about that too
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Shy :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Shyama :)
    sophia Placebo: bye shayama
    Gaya Ethaniel: Bye Shyama :)
Gaya Ethaniel: So just wondering ... when can we talk about this 'struggle' again?
    sophia Placebo: :)
sophia Placebo: maybe a week from now
SophiaSharon Larnia: some definitions may be helpful, on what 'struggle' means
    Eliza Madrigal nods... great topic
SophiaSharon Larnia: i can think of many right now, have to clarify what i mean by it (runs to get a pen and paper) :)
    Johny Weissberg: suffering ?
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes that definately part of it
    sophia Placebo: intented suffering ?
Johny Weissberg: suffering ur way out of suffering..lol
SophiaSharon Larnia: intended? of self imposed?
Gaya Ethaniel: I have to leave soon ... shall I email [group] and see what next?
Johny Weissberg: until u give up
    Johny Weissberg: suffering
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: thats like pushing until youre exhausted Johny :)
    sophia Placebo: sure gaya
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Johny Weissberg: yes
    SophiaSharon Larnia: may bot be that helpfu;
    SophiaSharon Larnia: not*
    Gaya Ethaniel nods.
sophia Placebo: i'll try to read about this
SophiaSharon Larnia: been there done that doesnt work lol
    SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
    Eliza Madrigal: heh
SophiaSharon Larnia: (ok thats just me)
Gaya Ethaniel: Great, so we can set something up via email then. I won't want to miss it.
Eliza Madrigal: not at all :)
