2009.10.27 13:00 - That Age'd Old Problem Again

The Guardian for this meeting was Mickorod Renard. The comments are by Mickorod Renard.

It turned out to be a lively session shared by 3 persons, Arabella Ella, QT and Mickorod. Although diferent subjects were touched upon the general chat was mainly on age and age diferences.

    Mickorod Renard: hiya qt
    Qt Core: hi all
    arabella Ella: ciao Qt
    Mickorod Renard: how u doing?
Qt Core: not bad, just had an excruciating meeting at work :-)
    arabella Ella: oh noooooo
    Mickorod Renard: yikes
    arabella Ella: sounds bad
arabella Ella: but u must be glad it is over
Qt Core: 14:00-15 in theory 1430:1840 in reality
    arabella Ella: ouch
    arabella Ella: terrible
    Mickorod Renard: mmmm,,dif times
Qt Core: and we even had something done! yeah!
Mickorod Renard: no doubt it was about cutting back on expenditure?
Qt Core: lets forget about it
arabella Ella: well Qt, relief to see you are not part of GF10 this year
    Mickorod Renard: good idea
    arabella Ella: (only joking)
arabella Ella: Mick GF is Big Brother in Italy
    Mickorod Renard: watz gf10?
    arabella Ella: he he
    arabella Ella: G = Grande
Mickorod Renard: I see,,u readin my mind?
    arabella Ella: F = Fratello - brother
arabella Ella: 10 - 10th edition in italy this year
Qt Core: i'm quite angry at not being able to surf a little web without seeing something about it
    arabella Ella: started last night
    arabella Ella: he he
    Mickorod Renard: i see
arabella Ella: GF and Berlusconi - all over the place at the moment
    Mickorod Renard: yea
    Qt Core: (and Marrazzo)
arabella Ella: but lots of great documentaries on Italian TV too
Mickorod Renard: and do they all have 18 year old girlfiends?
arabella Ella: what is Marrazzo ... have no clue ... not met that name yet?

arabella Ella: altho i was surprised Vattimo is so conservative
    Qt Core: yes
Qt Core: i get my news sharer only from radio station, not having pics they are usually more serious and have a better choice of topics
    arabella Ella: yes
    arabella Ella: good idea
Qt Core: even the radio from rai (the state owned ones)
Mickorod Renard: yes,,rely on words not pickies
arabella Ella: well yesterday on this discussion program they said that older guys who have parties where they invite lots of under 30 girls must have some psychological problems ... now what would two guys like you two say to that?

Mickorod Renard: well,,that opens a can of worms Ara
    arabella Ella: he he
    arabella Ella: go on Mik
    arabella Ella: Mick
Mickorod Renard: certainly Trans have the same outlooks and abilities as anyone else
Qt Core: the question is if those older guys remember what to do with them ;-)
arabella Ella: i like that Qt ... brilliant!
arabella Ella: it is just an ego trip i guess
Mickorod Renard: and I think that they may be even more compassionate about problems accross the sexual divide
    arabella Ella: more inclusive definitely
arabella Ella: but the implications on the italian TV program last night was
    Mickorod Renard: yes?
arabella Ella: that these guys over 60 or over 70 have psychological problems because
arabella Ella: they cannot relate to females who are in their age group, ie 10 years plus or minus
    Mickorod Renard: sexual frustration?
arabella Ella: no ... sexual problems
    Mickorod Renard: ohh,,
Mickorod Renard: u know what,,I think all men have dificulties relating to women
Mickorod Renard: but they try harder when younger
Mickorod Renard: as they get older they cant be doin with the bull
arabella Ella: but as a mature female i must ask you two guys
arabella Ella: dont younger girls have more b....s....t than more mature ones?
    arabella Ella: (please say yes!)
Qt Core: partly, older have the weirder kind ;-)
arabella Ella: please say more Qt
    Mickorod Renard: b s t
Mickorod Renard: is that for bust?
    arabella Ella: its for bull
    arabella Ella: he he
Qt Core: older have done theyr choice and have less quirks but more pronunced
Mickorod Renard: ohh,,well bein a man i have a one track mind
arabella Ella: better ask whoever is guardian and scribe to censor this chat log ... he he
    Mickorod Renard: thats me
Qt Core: (not as i'm experienced as i'm single)
    Mickorod Renard: ohh,,not scribe yet
arabella Ella: but Qt even as a single you have a right to your opinion ... I am single too
Mickorod Renard: I dont think women change in the level of b,, s ..t
    arabella Ella: wrong move Micko
Mickorod Renard: just move the lumps around a bit diferently
    arabella Ella: capriciousness?
    Mickorod Renard: only joking
    Mickorod Renard: well,,maybe
Mickorod Renard: but I would have liked to think that women wud bring an air of compassion into politics
arabella Ella: you could have 'lumps' on a 16 year old you know Mick
    arabella Ella: male or female
arabella Ella: ok let's move on to politics
Qt Core: well, i have to say that i don't really have put my attention at the problem, i really never tried to understand them
arabella Ella: otherwise they would have to censor too much from this chat
Mickorod Renard: but I think these days that women are as ruthless as men
    --BELL--
Qt Core: not as it is impossible
arabella Ella: is there any point in men trying to understand women ... or vice versa?
arabella Ella: does 'understanding' get us anywhere?
Qt Core: (not that man are)
    arabella Ella: he he
arabella Ella: and females may tend to over complicate matters? but so do males i guess
Mickorod Renard: battle of the sexes
Qt Core: we are really in dangerland if politics is a safer topic ;-)
    arabella Ella: yes
    arabella Ella: :)
arabella Ella: but i must ask something else
Mickorod Renard: I think the battle is all part of a game that went wrong ,,starting with what was called equal rights
arabella Ella: what do you guys consider to be the right age for people in relationships ... plus or minus how many years?
    arabella Ella: just curious
Mickorod Renard: any age...but on an equal and respected level
arabella Ella: so ... ehrmmmmm .... 16 or 18 is fine too?
Mickorod Renard: but the danger is,,that the boundaries have fallen by the wayside
arabella Ella: for a 60 or 70 year old?
    Mickorod Renard: yes
    arabella Ella: male or female?
arabella Ella: both sides of the coin?
Mickorod Renard: I think that deputising roles is important
arabella Ella: deputising roles? whats that?
    Mickorod Renard: rather than competing
arabella Ella: and Qt ... please?
arabella Ella: Mick .. whats deputising roles pls?
Mickorod Renard: I mean,,decide what role each in the partnership plays
Qt Core: it may be weird, i may don't like it but if both are adult and same of mind no problem
    Mickorod Renard: yes,,i aggree Qt
    Qt Core: same=sane
    arabella Ella: owwwwwwwwwwwwww
    arabella Ella: helppppppppppppppp
    Mickorod Renard: he he
Mickorod Renard: I mean,,too many cooks spoil the broth
arabella Ella: no sense of exploitation at all ... one taking advantage of the other ... or is that normal nowadays?
Mickorod Renard: it shouldnt be seem as advantage,,just helping
arabella Ella: the commodization of relationships ... as another commodity?
Mickorod Renard: its a mini comunity
    Mickorod Renard: not a battlegtround
Qt Core: if one is taking advantage of the other, joking/robbing the other that is another problem
    Mickorod Renard: yes
arabella Ella: but if we were to imagine ourselves when we were 16 or 18 years old ... would we not think that someone of 60 or 70 would be taking some advantage?
Mickorod Renard: and some are better at diferent roles
Qt Core: abut then in my definition bith aren't "sane of mind" as one is under the pressure of the other and unable to think clearly
Mickorod Renard: an older person can often have just the qualities a younger wone wants
    Mickorod Renard: and visa versa
arabella Ella: i'd better stop here ... otherwise there will be too much to be censored here
Qt Core: this minefield is getting denser and denser ;-)
Mickorod Renard: its deciding whether there is an unfair advantage taking place
arabella Ella: but i totally disagree
arabella Ella: as a female of course
Mickorod Renard: we expected a disagreement
arabella Ella: my ethical values feel .... u know
    Mickorod Renard: he he
arabella Ella: so u just winding me up Mick?
    Mickorod Renard: of course
    arabella Ella: of course
arabella Ella: but i got to ask Qt another question while i have the opportunity
arabella Ella: as i am very curious
arabella Ella: do u mind Qt?
Mickorod Renard: but on the age thing,,I sometimes think that social stigma,,and pressure from family members is often nieve to the personal cases
Qt Core: i reserve the right to stay silent :-) ask
    arabella Ella: he he
    Mickorod Renard: grin
arabella Ella: what is your opinion Qt on the 'obsession' there is with cosmetic surgery in so many countries ... especially italy?
Qt Core: just plain silly when not dangerous, phisically and/or mentally
Qt Core: and silly is a quite weak word...
arabella Ella: yes ... yet the media continues to propogate the 'forever young' myth ... which is reality appears as so artificial i think
    Mickorod Renard: yes
arabella Ella: why cant the media be more realistic?
Mickorod Renard: some of the best things in life are old
    Qt Core: money, ara ?
arabella Ella: ehrm ... wine .... me perhaps?
    arabella Ella: he he
    arabella Ella: censored
    Mickorod Renard: grin
    --BELL--
arabella Ella: but Qt as you may remember
arabella Ella: there was a time when we knew people of a certain age would be the ones with money to spend on whatever ... leisure (holidays, etc), consumables, etc ... whatever happened to that ... why should i see a 16 year old or a 40 year old who did cosmetic surgery trying to sell something to me?
Mickorod Renard: not sure i understand that Ara
arabella Ella: ok ... media still uses 'perfect' or 'perceived perfection' in looks to advertise or sell products or services even to 'silver' generation
    Mickorod Renard: I see
    Mickorod Renard: and yes,,i understand
Qt Core: i think but i don't know if it is wrong and only an idea from my birth year that after the mid'70/80 "we" got almost everything so it become more and more difficoult to sell everything
    arabella Ella: yes
    arabella Ella: quite true Qt
Qt Core: just appealing at your standard need so bham, a new push toward extra needs and perfection
    arabella Ella: but
arabella Ella: that generation still enjoys its X-boses and Wiiis
arabella Ella: so new innovations are being produced to market and sell to that generation ... through the media
    arabella Ella: X-boxes i meant
Mickorod Renard: well,,the older ones dont need to relate to denial just cos they are older
Mickorod Renard: but the young do relate to staying inside their age bracket
Mickorod Renard: so out of practicle means,,its more beneficial to do it that way
arabella Ella: yes Mick but the media still targets different stuff at different age brakets as a lot of what we 'consume' depends a great deal on our experience and culture
    arabella Ella: like for example
arabella Ella: big families after WW2
arabella Ella: so lots of sharing and community and deprivation where materialism is concerned
Mickorod Renard: perhaps if there is advantage to be had,,they will work it in their best interests
arabella Ella: followed by as Qt said by an age where kids had everything before they even wished for stuff
Mickorod Renard: that is a concern 4 me too
arabella Ella: and today ... i dunno ... very complicated ....
Qt Core: it remind me about a crisis Nokia had some years ago when they reached the point when most already had a phone
arabella Ella: kids are spoilt but parents are spoilt too ... so where are we really and where are we gong to?
Mickorod Renard: yes,,but with a drive in environmental attitudes,,maybe a reverse is around the corner
Qt Core: now they sold olny 20% more than the year before and had a big loss in the stock market
Mickorod Renard: look for enjoyment in nature
arabella Ella: what did they do to react Qt?
Qt Core: but hey if anymody and his sister had a phone who would buy another ?
arabella Ella: and yes Mick ... nature ... but with mobile phones and WiFi and all the gizmos they need
Qt Core: i don't know what they did, i was only surprised they thought they would be able to sell phones at suych a rythm
Mickorod Renard: perhasps it will come,,try and pull kids away from falsity and into real nature
Mickorod Renard: otherwise the matrix idea will be reality
arabella Ella: well IMHO phones seem to have gone in two directions ... one is brand loyalty and the other is consumerism ... getting consumers to always want to have the most 'desirable' latest model
Mickorod Renard: as kids just stay indoors looking at tv screens etc
Qt Core: well.... not that sl is so far away...
arabella Ella: and Mick ... i cant really comment on that ... i guess it depends on so many other factors ... including who the kids are mixing with, ie peer pressure
    Mickorod Renard: very true QT
    Mickorod Renard: yes Ara
arabella Ella: 'We are the Matrix' ... you think so Qt?
Mickorod Renard: but the kids want the next adventure and stimulus
Qt Core: do you know how many stares i got when i told i was a programmer but wanted the simplest clam-shell phone they had ?
Mickorod Renard: and this is never natural
arabella Ella: well Qt ... ask me ... he he
Mickorod Renard: I can imagine Qt
arabella Ella: Simplicity is one of the greatest values in today's complex age
    Mickorod Renard: yes
arabella Ella: and simplicity can add value too
arabella Ella: cos then there is what is called
arabella Ella: the too many bells and whistles syndrome
arabella Ella: too many applications which no one or hardly anyone ever uses
    --BELL--
Qt Core: a single tool for a single job... the Unix philosophy ;-)
Mickorod Renard: and it will be simplest when we are hardwired up to a universal network and we wont need to venture out using up the worlds natural resourses
arabella Ella: or have chips in our brains to augment our memory
    Mickorod Renard: exactly
    arabella Ella: and possibly
arabella Ella: move backwards and forewards in time ...
Mickorod Renard: we are the guinia pigs on sl,,we are the forerunners of a matrix style life
Qt Core: just think, go in mouselook and project the screen on the retina (just today i read about two approach to projection on the retina)
    Mickorod Renard: wow,,cool
arabella Ella: how do you project screen on retina?
Mickorod Renard: and age will not be relevant either
    arabella Ella: he he
Qt Core: with glasses mounted projectors, where you put also a mic and the earbuds
    arabella Ella: oh
Mickorod Renard: just need connecting up to the erogenous zones and we are done
    Mickorod Renard: and a drip
arabella Ella: maybe a pod would do
    Mickorod Renard: he he
arabella Ella: and maybe the future of SL is in a pod too similar to what Qt just described

Qt Core: we really love minefields today
    arabella Ella: he he
    arabella Ella: yes
arabella Ella: i must go now
arabella Ella: nite Qt nite Micko
Mickorod Renard: ok,,I must leave now Qt
    Qt Core: 'night ara
    Mickorod Renard: u goin ara,,bte
    Mickorod Renard: bye
Mickorod Renard: I must leaqve too QT
    Qt Core: ok, have fun
Mickorod Renard: thanks for comming,,it would have been very quiet without you
    Qt Core: ;)
    Mickorod Renard: bye,,and goodnight
    Qt Core: bye Yaku
    Qt Core: hi
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye qt :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: i am glad when they are an our later again
Qt Core: well, if i only would not have something to do on 3pm slt today having pab an our early is nice, more sleep

Yakuzza Lethecus: good that it´s just for a week
Yakuzza Lethecus: 10pm was the time when i went to bed before pab :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: but also other rl things are before that
