    Storm Nordwind: You too! :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Storm Nordwind: We'll need to talk quietly. I think Boxy is asleep! ;-)
Xirana Oximoxi: I see boxy too... but out:)
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes lol

    Christmas cooking with family.

Xirana Oximoxi: did you have nice days for Christmas?
Storm Nordwind: Yes thank you. Very relaxing. And you?
Xirana Oximoxi: me too... with a lot of family:)
Storm Nordwind: Oh! How much is "a lot"?

    Storm Nordwind: Wow!
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I have 3 brothers..their wifes, husbands and sons:)
Xirana Oximoxi: all very close and we prepare the eating all together.
Storm Nordwind: That's great. We just had one visitor - my wife's son - and we all did something towards the meal. (I made the Yorkshire Pudding!)
Xirana Oximoxi: ahhh I was going to ask if you had been the 'chef' :)) (the cook) I know you like to ccok:)
Xirana Oximoxi: I read your receipts... at PaBcafe
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi boxy!!!
Alfred Kelberry: stormy, xira cruz :)
Storm Nordwind: :) Well I did the starters (fried Halloumi) and the Yorkshire Pudding. My stepson did the brussels sprouts, and my wife did the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It was very simple homecooking.
Xirana Oximoxi: finally ou've wake up!!! :)
    Alfred Kelberry: yep
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Storm Nordwind: Welcome back Boxy!
Alfred Kelberry: mashed potatoes - num
Xirana Oximoxi: it's sounds all delicious!!!
Storm Nordwind: Yes Boxy. What did the Europeans do before the potato I wonder?
Xirana Oximoxi: we use to eat a special soup and a big chicken
    Alfred Kelberry: europeans invented potato!
Xirana Oximoxi: and salads and very tipical dessert of Catalonia 'turró' :)
    Storm Nordwind: With almonds?
Xirana Oximoxi: yes, made with almonds:)
    Xirana Oximoxi: http://www.google.es/search?hl=ca&bi...GsuXhQeX2sWfAQ
    Storm Nordwind: Yum!
Xirana Oximoxi: also with xocolat, cream... but the most tipical is made with almonds
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...it's good!... and gives a lot of 'energy' :))
    --BELL--
    Alfred Kelberry: zon :)
    Zon Kwan: heya
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Zon! :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: ohh I see you twice!! Zon!
Xirana Oximoxi: do you have a double?
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Types
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Zon :)
Storm Nordwind: And znk, and nobody
    nobody Silent: hello
nobody Silent: is this in voice?
Xirana Oximoxi: what do you mean, nobody?
    Alfred Kelberry: nope
    Alfred Kelberry: in chat
    nobody Silent: thx
Storm Nordwind: Have you been here before?
    nobody Silent: you know, nobody
Alfred Kelberry: you seem to like typing though :)
Xirana Oximoxi: ahh I see:))) you also are 'nobody' ...Types:)
nobody Silent: correct, types is nobody
    Xirana Oximoxi: ok:)
    Alfred Kelberry: confirmed
nobody Silent: you still have the Quan Yin place STorm?

    Traditions.

Alfred Kelberry: xiri, do you eat grapes on the new year? :)
Storm Nordwind: Yes I do. Close by.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes.... it's a new 'tradition' here... and you?
    Alfred Kelberry: 12 grapes, right?
    nobody Silent: Pema still around?
    Alfred Kelberry: no, we don't
Alfred Kelberry: pema pops in sometimes
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... each village and city usually has a clock and we eat the grapes at the last 12 seconds of the year
Alfred Kelberry: not as often as he used to
    Alfred Kelberry: neat, xiri :)
Alfred Kelberry: i think i'll do that this year
    Xirana Oximoxi: where in UK?
    Xirana Oximoxi: or in Spain?
Alfred Kelberry: it's nice to try various traditions each year :)

    The magic of the moment.

Storm Nordwind: Does the "new year" - or the transition from old to new - have any significance for anyone here?
    nobody Silent: an arbitrary significance
Xirana Oximoxi: not specially for me, Storm
Alfred Kelberry: somewhat like spring, but nothing major
Storm Nordwind: Perhaps people like thresholds, though it could be anywhere at anytime.
Alfred Kelberry: storm, yes. best time for change is... now. not monday :)
Xirana Oximoxi: but all this special days have a big social force... you seem really strange if you don't celebrate
Storm Nordwind is used to people thinking he's strange! ;)
Alfred Kelberry: xiri, good point :)
    nobody Silent: good day everyone
Xirana Oximoxi: when youger I used to go out and all the people drinking a lot and a lot of noise... now I take it more calmly and enjoi it much more:)
Storm Nordwind: If it's a social force, I guess we can change it to whatever we like.
Alfred Kelberry: cheer that is being spread around you certainly has an effect
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye TYpes
Storm Nordwind: So Boxy - if it's the best time for change, what will you change? :)
Alfred Kelberry: yet, the magic of the moment, as i felt it when i was a kid, is gone. sadly or not.
    --BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: *saved by the bell* :P
    Xirana Oximoxi: haha
    Storm Nordwind waits patiently :)
Storm Nordwind: When I lived in the UK - and perhaps 20 years ago too - I noticed that the most magical time of the year seemed to me to be Christmas Eve, or at least around dusk on that day.
Alfred Kelberry: do you see christmas as a religious holiday?
    znk Resident: yes
Storm Nordwind: I see it is for some people, yes.
Xirana Oximoxi: for me it was magical 6.January... waiting fot the Kings of Orient:)

    Sun movements.

znk Resident: its based on sun movements
    znk Resident: as all religions
    Storm Nordwind: "all"?
    znk Resident: all famous ones
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: for me it's not religious ... but I enjoi meeting with all family, what is not easy...so it also makes it special
Storm Nordwind looks at his "famous" religion and doesn't see much solar correlation
Alfred Kelberry: *notes xiri's "the kings of orient" comment and ponders* :)
znk Resident: ancient religions vefore chrsitianity
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    znk Resident: made celebration days
Storm Nordwind: That includes mine znk
    znk Resident: when sun
znk Resident: moves from darkest time
    znk Resident: to lightest
znk Resident: the sun god moved
    znk Resident: across teh sky
znk Resident: and then just names
    znk Resident: and stories
    znk Resident: evolved
    znk Resident: the fight between
    znk Resident: good/light
    znk Resident: and bad/darkness
Alfred Kelberry: it's like a long haiku :)
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... I don't know exactly which ones...but a lot of special fests are celebrated 'over' the ancient pagan fests
    znk Resident: nods
Storm Nordwind does not see that seasonal symbology in Buddhism
    znk Resident: eastern
    znk Resident: midsummer
    znk Resident: in buddhism
    znk Resident: also autumn
    znk Resident: vesak
    Storm Nordwind: Lunar
Storm Nordwind: I have a neighbor who is Zorastrian. I should have wished her happy Mithras Eve :)
    --BELL--
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Rid!! :)
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Ya'll

    Seasonal adjustments.

Storm Nordwind: We mark northern hemisphere winter here in the PaB village. We add snow and ice. And some add their own traditional artifacts from their family customs. Do you think we should do more seasonally... or less... or do you think it doesn't matter?
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Riddle!
Riddle Sideways: all of those choices
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Storm Nordwind: Would you like to say more? :)
Riddle Sideways: the other people's decorations, objects, leftovers are spontaniously here
Riddle Sideways: that should not be stopped nor entouraged more
Storm Nordwind: So richness through spontaneous individuality?
    Riddle Sideways: just happen
Xirana Oximoxi: I usually 'live in my SL the same seasons of RL... for exemple, I like to dress with swetars and more warm clothes now... but I am aware that maybe in other parts of the world its different...
Xirana Oximoxi: it's also fun to go to the beach when there is snow outside in rl:))
    Storm Nordwind: haha!
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: by the way...wonderful picture of your environment Storm! :)
Storm Nordwind: Oh you mean from last week?
Xirana Oximoxi: I think last week
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes:)
Storm Nordwind: Ah yes. 30cm of snow. Still there, though not on the roads. :)

    Snowball fight.

    Xirana Oximoxi: hello Aph
    Storm Nordwind: Good morning Aph!
    znk Resident: aph
    Storm Nordwind: uh oh
    Aphrodite Macbain: morning all
    Xirana Oximoxi: haha
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Aph
Aphrodite Macbain: OMG - Riddle has snow balls and has a good right arm
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes:)
Aphrodite Macbain: oh no! Storm too
Xirana Oximoxi: lol... a battle of snow balls)
Aphrodite Macbain: throwing them at the billboard hmmm
Aphrodite Macbain: Do you still have piles of snow storm?
Storm Nordwind: We do Aph. Want some? ;)
Riddle Sideways: Storm has a shield up that is preventing being hit with the snowballs?
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, it would make a nice change from rain
    Aphrodite Macbain: a snowball shield?
Storm Nordwind: No Riddle, I'm not that unsporting! :)
    Riddle Sideways: ah
Storm Nordwind: Your aim is just awry ;)
Aphrodite Macbain: I thought it was some sort of storm magic

    Sightseeing in the snow.

Riddle Sideways: oh, last week was at the Grand Canyon in the snow
    Storm Nordwind: Sounds wonderful!
Aphrodite Macbain: must have been spectacular
    Riddle Sideways: and cold too
Riddle Sideways: slip on the ice and go a mile down :)
Aphrodite Macbain: I have a hard time imagining the grand canon as cold
    Aphrodite Macbain: and icy
Xirana Oximoxi: I must go now!!! nice day to all and see you soon!! :-)
Aphrodite Macbain: In my mind it's very hot and dry
    Aphrodite Macbain: by Xirana!
    Storm Nordwind waves
Riddle Sideways: funny, that in the mind stuff
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye bye:)
Aphrodite Macbain: it's all in the mind
    --BELL--
    Riddle Sideways: not mine
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
Aphrodite Macbain: I'll tiptoe out of here. Just wanted to drop in for a mo.
Storm Nordwind: Always good to see you!
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
Alfred Kelberry: gah, missed aph :/
    Riddle Sideways: wb boxy
    Alfred Kelberry: riddly boy :)
    Alfred Kelberry: *pictures aph tiptoeing*
Riddle Sideways: aph tiptoed out on ice skates
    Alfred Kelberry: with style :)
Riddle Sideways: these avs have no respect for ice skate blades
Riddle Sideways: skating away... on the thin ice of a new day

    Singsong in La-La Land.

Alfred Kelberry: i think storm should sing a christmas carol
Storm Nordwind: la la la la la la la
Storm Nordwind: la la la la laaaa laaaa

    Storm Nordwind laughs
Riddle Sideways: already did the chore
    Alfred Kelberry: oh well :0

    Recycling.

    Riddle Sideways: recycling day
Storm Nordwind: Your recycling day is world famous!
Riddle Sideways: love it so much
Alfred Kelberry: never heard of it
Storm Nordwind: The symbolism of recycling at the new year... hmm... :)
Riddle Sideways: all the garbage lined up at the curb in nice order
Riddle Sideways: gathering all the old prims and making new stuff
Riddle Sideways: did a tour of BioSphere2 last week
    Riddle Sideways: speaking of recycling
    Storm Nordwind: In AZ?
Riddle Sideways: for 2 years they recycled everything
    Riddle Sideways: yep, AZ
    Riddle Sideways: Tuscan
Riddle Sideways: just go to Bleu's and turn right
Riddle Sideways: but did not meet Bleu

    Collaboration.

Storm Nordwind: What impressions did you bring back?
Riddle Sideways: the neat thing at BioSphere2 is that scientist from different disaplines work/live/eat next to each other
Riddle Sideways: have to talk to each other
    Riddle Sideways: combare notes
Riddle Sideways: learn from each other
    Storm Nordwind nods and listens
Riddle Sideways: that is so weird
    Storm Nordwind: weird?
    --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: not many situations that biologists and mechcanical engineers colab
    Storm Nordwind: robotics? :)
Storm Nordwind: But i take your point :)
Riddle Sideways: well, ok there are lots of times many sci work together
Riddle Sideways: this seemed to be ALL the science displines together
    Storm Nordwind: Nice!
Riddle Sideways: making a small earth

    Being C-ing.

Riddle Sideways: ok folks need to go back to studying C#
Storm Nordwind: Oh dear! Good luck with that. :)
Riddle Sideways: wonder why that is not Dflat
    Storm Nordwind: Or B##
Riddle Sideways: almost named the band the B#s
Riddle Sideways: but that name has been used for years
Storm Nordwind: And B-ings might have been too corny
Riddle Sideways: yep, no room in rock-n-roll for a corny name
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
    Riddle Sideways: bye ya'll
    Storm Nordwind waves
Storm Nordwind creeps out and leaves Boxy snoring
