Pema Pera: Hi festive Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: Happy New Year :)
Multiverse1 Resident: Happy Every Year! and 2012 as well
Pema Pera: Happy New year to you both too :)
Eliza Madrigal: :) ty
Multiverse1 Resident: I have just sated myself on a traditional American neew year feast of Chinese food even.
Pema Pera: only a few weeks early :)
Eliza Madrigal: Year of the Dragon?
Pema Pera: yup
Multiverse1 Resident: Yes the calanders of cultures
Pema Pera: I wonder how many guests will show up tonight, New Year's Eve in the U.S. . . . .
Pema Pera: and night in Europe
Pema Pera: here in Japan it's lunch time
Eliza Madrigal: Well considering that last year we had a six hour session for New Year's eve...
Eliza Madrigal: never know
Multiverse1 Resident: in sl?
Pema Pera: I may have to sneak out a bit early . . .
Multiverse1 Resident: or here?
Pema Pera: oh wow, six hours! I guess I wasn't there, otherwise I would have remembered . . . .
Multiverse1 Resident: yes along session no matter what you are doing
Eliza Madrigal: New Years is a bit of a threshold or gate... for later, here's a fun story:
Eliza Madrigal: http://lair2000.net/Chinese_Poetry/s...gons_Gate.html
Eliza Madrigal: I don't think you attended Pema, no... possibly traveling
Eliza Madrigal: there was champagne and fountain dancing..
Eliza Madrigal: hah
Pema Pera: :-)
Pema Pera: nice story, Eliza :-)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
--BELL--
Pema Pera: any more dragon stories, anyone?
Eliza Madrigal: only songs :)
Pema Pera: go right ahead, Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: haha.. well, here is a poem...
Pema Pera: yes?
Eliza Madrigal: Once They All Believed In Dragons Once they all believed in dragons When the world was fresh and young, We were woven into legends, Tales were told and songs were sung, We were treated with obeisance, We were honored, we were feared, Then one day they stopped believing-- On that day, we disappeared.
Pema Pera: (^_^)
Eliza Madrigal: Now they say our time is over, Now they say we've lived our last, Now we're treated with derision Where we once ruled unsurpassed. We must make them all remember, In some way we must reveal That our spirit lives forever-- We are dragons! We are real!
Eliza Madrigal: :) it is from a children's book "The Dragon's are Singing Tonight"
Pema Pera: good thing people still believe in avatars!
Eliza Madrigal: Jack Prelutsky
Eliza Madrigal: and Tinkerbell
Pema Pera: curious that in China and Japan and East Asia in general dragons have such a positive connotation, whereas the opposite is the case in Europe, where dragons are pretty bad creatures that need to be killed by saints
Eliza Madrigal: yes, that IS curious
Pema Pera: wb Multi
Pema Pera: I wonder whether it has to do with monotheism
Pema Pera: something independently powerful must be associated with the devil?
Multiverse1 Resident: I have frozen, a 1st for me in sl
Eliza Madrigal: something to be conquired
Eliza Madrigal: *conquered, tamed
Multiverse1 Resident: here's one I saw today, a 4 min clip
Pema Pera: I like the idea of conquiring dragons . . . .
Multiverse1 Resident: the dragon or devil?
Pema Pera: hi Sam!
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sam :)
Eliza Madrigal: you do?
Pema Pera: conquiring must be related to inspiring . . .
Multiverse1 Resident: hi sam
Eliza Madrigal: :) Oh... inviting... playful...
oO0Oo Resident: Eliza :), Pema :), Multi :)
Pema Pera: sharing time in inquiry?
Pema Pera: a new word, Eliza!
Pema Pera: Sam, Eliza just invented "conquiring"
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: we are whispering of dragons
oO0Oo Resident: I'm down con that
Pema Pera: as in "a conquiration" as opposed to conspiration
Pema Pera: down con that?
Pema Pera: now we all speak in tongues . . . .
oO0Oo Resident: con=with
Eliza Madrigal: tongues of dragons...
Pema Pera: :-)
Multiverse1 Resident: the serpent perhaps?
Multiverse1 Resident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...8aE1KPPQ#t=11s
Multiverse1 Resident: the gate
Multiverse1 Resident: the birth of humanity
--BELL--
Multiverse1 Resident: the release, the gate the dragon guards
Pema Pera: anybody any new year's resolutions?
Multiverse1 Resident: yes to resolve to rezz
oO0Oo Resident: . *"Time involves sorrow" * Nice vid Multi
Multiverse1 Resident: I will attempt to build here
Multiverse1 Resident: sorrow and joy are the mates
Eliza Madrigal: well, intentions... focus of equanimity and rest
Multiverse1 Resident: the barto and entry at the gate
Eliza Madrigal: swinging door :)
Multiverse1 Resident: the achievement of adulthood or maturity
Pema Pera: I'm not sure about year-long intentions, but for now I started to play with a somewhat different structure for my journal
Multiverse1 Resident: no longer seeking but to find it, just beyond the gate
Multiverse1 Resident: the change of structure in compilation
Eliza Madrigal: how so Pema?
Pema Pera: rather than writing down some entries here and there, about practice or musings or things I read, I'm now experimenting with using my journal as a kind of "open mike"
Pema Pera: adding one entry an hour or so
Pema Pera: I'll see how long I'll keep it up
Pema Pera: so instead of a "diary" and "hourly"
Multiverse1 Resident: a pause every tyme period to reflect
Pema Pera: may go with the spirit of the 9 seconds
Eliza Madrigal: a version of 9 second stops notation?
Eliza Madrigal: ah, yes
Pema Pera: as Eos would say "check!"
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Pema Pera: have any of you played with keeping a journal, recently?
Eliza Madrigal: have begun many blogs, private, public
Pema Pera: anything on a daily basis?
Eliza Madrigal: I do find it very helpful
Multiverse1 Resident: I have a few, but they span months, then I will write for days or months. Then I stop and ponder. Or get sidetracked
Pema Pera: or when the mood strikes? (@ Eliza)
Eliza Madrigal: I write somewhere, every day
Pema Pera: in a notebook, or computer file?
Pema Pera: how long have you been doing that, Multi?
Eliza Madrigal: both, all, everywhere :)
Pema Pera: do you keep track of them??
Multiverse1 Resident: for years, about 30
Pema Pera: and how about you, Sam?
Eliza Madrigal: that might be a good resolution actually :)
Eliza Madrigal: "keep track of journals"
Pema Pera: a meta journal? :)
Multiverse1 Resident: I havce over a dozen on paper
oO0Oo Resident: I try to write at least one poem per day.. [likes the idea of open-mic-check-journal]
Multiverse1 Resident: meta journal, hmmm
Pema Pera: ah, nice, Sam!
Pema Pera: short poem? free form?
oO0Oo Resident: free form mostly.. whatever length
Pema Pera: do you sometimes go back to read them again, Multi?
Multiverse1 Resident: one is poems
Multiverse1 Resident: one is math
Eliza Madrigal: wonderful practice, Sam
Multiverse1 Resident: one is science and then religion
Multiverse1 Resident: poetry is free then sam?
Pema Pera: anything that is done on a daily basis can be so inspiring and helpful, providing a kind of continuity to our lives, also on days that the going gets tough . . .
Multiverse1 Resident: also to solidify memories
Multiverse1 Resident: like a painting in words
Pema Pera: each day a different topic, Sam?
oO0Oo Resident: Whatever bubbles up.. not sure.. sort of stumped about freedom question Multi
Multiverse1 Resident: what I meant was what Eliza asked
Multiverse1 Resident: free poetry or structured topics
--BELL--
Multiverse1 Resident: or Pema asked, sorry
oO0Oo Resident: thanks multi.. I understand now your question
Multiverse1 Resident: and the flow of your poetry then?
Eliza Madrigal: :) Nice to see you Pema
Pema Pera: lunch calling -- have an appointment in ten minutes -- good seeing you all here!
Pema Pera: be well
Eliza Madrigal: Happy Everything
Multiverse1 Resident: eat well
oO0Oo Resident: Bye Pema :) Nice to see you
oO0Oo Resident: Feels flow of 'letting go' of notion of poetry.. and sings.. lets sing just things.. opens .. tries..
Multiverse1 Resident: ah free and not restrained
Multiverse1 Resident: Here is a verse from 2009
Multiverse1 Resident: 10/17
Eliza Madrigal: :) letting go of notion of poetry... really quite beautiful Sam... poetry itself
oO0Oo Resident: ty Eliza
Multiverse1 Resident: Devoid the emptiness deep inside. Clear the stream , White the sky. Birth to death and start again. Wake up world, just now and then
Multiverse1 Resident: the poem is titled Star Again
Multiverse1 Resident: Start
Eliza Madrigal: :)) thanks for sharing that Multi!
oO0Oo Resident: :))

oO0Oo Resident reads multi's poem four or five times
Multiverse1 Resident: it goes on
oO0Oo Resident watches space for more verses
Multiverse1 Resident: Sleep is the dream it seams. Love the word, it's all absurd. Think in style of everness. Try it once and don't regress.
Multiverse1 Resident: Count the ways and wonder why? Begin our days and start to die.
Multiverse1 Resident: Sunset, Seaside, the wave is still. On Earth we know, and on the Hill.
Multiverse1 Resident: Up the sound. It does not reach. Beyond the world, Beneath the beach.
Multiverse1 Resident: The oceans calling, the sea is rough. The ship is strong, it's sails are tough.
Multiverse1 Resident: Original this map of His, Chart of all that is.
Multiverse1 Resident: Consequence of vacant thoughts, the end
--BELL--

Multiverse1 Resident: I love calandars
ContreCourant Resident: what Mayan year is this?
Multiverse1 Resident: don't really know, but the last year in their calender I think
Multiverse1 Resident: interesting how it was formed
ContreCourant Resident: Isn't the world supposed to come to an end according to the Mayan calendar?
oO0Oo Resident: Hi ContreCourant.. just reflecting on Multi's [verses] :)
Multiverse1 Resident: They calculated from their time back to the beginning, then marked the end
ContreCourant Resident: lol
ContreCourant Resident: I dont understand Multi
Multiverse1 Resident: they figured backwards over 400,000 years then ahead only 1500
ContreCourant Resident: beinning when?
Multiverse1 Resident: from about 600 ad
Multiverse1 Resident: or 700
Multiverse1 Resident: something like that
Multiverse1 Resident: based on astronomy and mathematics
Multiverse1 Resident: they were very good at both
ContreCourant Resident: hmm. wonder why 600/700 AD
Multiverse1 Resident: sorry, probably closer to 400. The era of their civilization
Multiverse1 Resident: Now I'll have to refresh myself on it
Multiverse1 Resident: probably tommorrow
ContreCourant Resident: oh the era of the Maya. I tought they lasted a long time
ContreCourant Resident: thought
Multiverse1 Resident: only a few hundred years
ContreCourant Resident: must check Google
ContreCourant Resident: and no one knows why they died out.
Multiverse1 Resident: check under the origin of their calander or such
ContreCourant Resident: funny that they created a calendar that went beyond their life time.
ContreCourant Resident: funny+strange
