2013.12.14 19:00 - stop drop and roll

The Guardian for this meeting was Eos Amaterasu. The comments are by Eos Amaterasu.

Hana Furlough: 's current display-name is "Hana".
    Hana Furlough: it's snowing!
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Hana & bird
    Hana Furlough: Hi Eos!
Hana Furlough: (bird extends greetings as well)
    Eos Amaterasu: chirp chrip

Hana Furlough: is is snowing where you are?
Eos Amaterasu: it has been, and we're expecitinga major storm, blizzard, tomorrow
    Hana Furlough: oh dear
    Hana Furlough: are you prepared?
Eos Amaterasu: the wood stove is going....
    Hana Furlough: stay warm
Eos Amaterasu: this will be a classic Nova Scotia storm: snow turning to ice pellets turning to freezing rain
Eos Amaterasu: after 20 cm or so of snow :-)
    Hana Furlough: that sounds terrible
    Hana Furlough: be careful
Eos Amaterasu: how is your part of the world?
Hana Furlough: it's cold, for sure
Hana Furlough: but not cold enough to snow
Hana Furlough: there are still some maple leaves hanging on
Hana Furlough: but mostly just an afterglow
    Eos Amaterasu: hmm...
    Eos Amaterasu: poetic :-)
    Hana Furlough: haha maybe?

Hana Furlough: is there a theme this week?
Eos Amaterasu: yes... "catch yourself in the act"
Eos Amaterasu: SL, RL, DL, doesn't matter
    Hana Furlough: oooh interesting
Eos Amaterasu: how do you do that?
Hana Furlough: stop drop and roll?
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eos Amaterasu: okay, we can try that at next bell (if not sooner....)
    Hana Furlough: all right!
Hana Furlough: how do you catch yourself in the act?
Eos Amaterasu: i find mundane occasions, like moving a spoon while doing the dishes, happen....

    Eos Amaterasu: any catches?
    Hana Furlough: yeah
Hana Furlough: i was making an online payment right before the bell rang
Hana Furlough: and when it rang, i stopped dropped and rolled
Hana Furlough: and later in the 90 seconds
Hana Furlough: i saw that it said on the front of the credit care "it's a pleasure to serve you"
Hana Furlough: good reminder for how to serve the divine, i think
Eos Amaterasu: it has a divine quality?
    Hana Furlough: yeah
Hana Furlough: it feels like that
Eos Amaterasu: can u say more?
Eos Amaterasu: divine stop drop roll?
    Hana Furlough: yeah
Hana Furlough: a divine quality came forth
    Eos Amaterasu: hmm, wonderful
Hana Furlough: a sense of gratitude
Hana Furlough: confirmed by the message on the card
Eos Amaterasu: the divine's calling card :-)
    Hana Furlough: yes!

    Hana Furlough: how about you?
Eos Amaterasu: i think there is a timeless suspension quality there
Hana Furlough: can you tell me more?
Eos Amaterasu: don't stop the act, in the catching of it
Eos Amaterasu: allow, fall into its space
Eos Amaterasu: and yes, a kind of sacred, timeless quality
    Hana Furlough: interesting
    Hana Furlough: not stopping
    Hana Furlough: but stopping time?
    Hana Furlough: time stopping?
Eos Amaterasu: one of my favorite Beatles lines, from the song Penny Lane: "though he thinks he's in a play, he is anyway"
    Hana Furlough: hehehe
Eos Amaterasu: the act continues, in the space of allowing, detaching, not altering
Hana Furlough: and is different somehow?
Eos Amaterasu: yes, not altering but with sense of brightness, appreciation, resting
Eos Amaterasu: "rest simply without altering it"
    Hana Furlough: : )
    Hana Furlough: yes

Eos Amaterasu: I do find the kitchen is a good occasion in RL for that
    Eos Amaterasu: not sure why
Hana Furlough: can you say more about that?
Eos Amaterasu: catching myself in the act while performing some very ordinary operation
Eos Amaterasu: like moving a dish from sink to rack
Eos Amaterasu: do you have a kitchen shrine?
Hana Furlough: i have a small amulet for the kitchen
Hana Furlough: do you have a shrine?
Eos Amaterasu: there's a space that is somewhat that
Eos Amaterasu: various little things around the house
Hana Furlough: what is it like?
Eos Amaterasu: by the front door there's a carving of a wolf head
    Eos Amaterasu: protector
    Eos Amaterasu: NorthWest aboriginal style
    Hana Furlough: fascinating

    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: I like how Chogyam Trungpa described "drala" (similar to "kami", I think), as the opening in a phenomenal experience to the "cosmic mirror"
Eos Amaterasu: could be an open clearing in the forest
    Hana Furlough: fascinating
Hana Furlough: especially since the body of the kami is often a mirror
Eos Amaterasu: or a decoration on your clothing
    Hana Furlough: whoa
Hana Furlough: can you say more about the second?
Eos Amaterasu: well, to live your life in the kind of divine space you described
Eos Amaterasu: you invite it into all the details
Eos Amaterasu: your house, your clothing, how you hold yourself, everything
    Hana Furlough: : )
Eos Amaterasu: and can create little magnet points
    Eos Amaterasu: to invite that
Eos Amaterasu: that's what ceremony is about?
Eos Amaterasu: often when we eat we light a candle
Eos Amaterasu: we bow before eating
Eos Amaterasu: a little pause, ceremony.... could be "empty formality" (the best kind :-)
    Hana Furlough: sounds nice

Eos Amaterasu: "catch yourself in the act" could be a theme or pattern for a 99-days type practice
    Hana Furlough: for sure
Eos Amaterasu: reports from the field
Hana Furlough: seems like a very versatile tool
Eos Amaterasu: do try this at home
    Hana Furlough: haha yes!
Eos Amaterasu: well, think I will depart - so nice to run into you here halfway across the world
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eos Amaterasu: have a good day!
    Hana Furlough: thank you!
Eos Amaterasu: good night, good morning!
Hana Furlough: great chatting with you as well!
    Hana Furlough: good night!
