The Guardian for this meeting was Wol. The comments are by No Self.

    Wol Euler: buongiorno, qt
    Qt Core: Hi Wol
Qt Core: Mmm, it seems i forgot my body... am i a cloud to you too ?
Wol Euler: no, I see you normally
    Qt Core: Here i am!
    Wol Euler cheers!
Qt Core: against most forecast a sunny easter, quite gray and rainy yesterday
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: greyish here too actually, though no rain
Qt Core: just saw a couple images from the celebrations in St. Peter square, greath weather here too

Wol Euler: it's incredibly quiet here, apart from church bells just now. There's hardly any traffic, no streetcars
Qt Core: same here, all in all before 12 the only reason to go out is to go to church, and usually it is in walking range
Qt Core: then paople would fo to relatives for lunch, so a bit of traffic, then again after 4
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Qt Core: great spelling today!
    Wol Euler chuckles.
Wol Euler: no worries, I understood
Qt Core: in past couple days i have this song in my head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umUmQgkgFT8 (hoping drm will be nice)
    Wol Euler watches and giggles
Qt Core: the title means "I can't afford it" and the song and video is inspired by the auction that sold some painting for 140 million dollars

    --BELL--

    Wol Euler: very amusing
Wol Euler: though if I spoke more Italian it might be more angering, which I gather was their intention
    Qt Core: oh yes
    Wol Euler grins.
Qt Core: this is the song that made him famous, with subtitles too (drm permitting): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx8GhXm-HcA
Wol Euler: (works, but 25 seconds of advertising. bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)
Qt Core: i like this kind of song where there is contrast between the style and the messages ;-)
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: great message in that one, yes
Qt Core: jesters are free to say almost anything, even that the king is naked... then we have to see if the public listen
    Wol Euler nods.

Wol Euler: I'm sure that the irony of telling people not to watch canned entertainment on a channel of canned entertainment is not lost on him
Wol Euler: but how else to get people to see/hear it?
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Qt Core: :-)
Qt Core: that's why i think he is not really loved by the media industries, but then he make them make money
    Wol Euler: exactly
Wol Euler: it's a strange situation, which the internet and home recording has made better
Wol Euler: at least it's possible now for people to make and present their ideas, twenty years ago it took a lot of money and had to pass several layers of guardians who kept troublemakers out
Qt Core: but then "people with something to say are a lot, quality is not requested" as GAber, one of my favorite (dead) singer would say

    --BELL--

Qt Core: this is serious both in style and message: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My_c...Fyw&feature=kp lyrics here: http://en.scorser.com/Lyrics/Giorgio...e/3051830.html
Wol Euler: well, that is also true :) the guardians were (usually) filtering for quality as well as for disturbing their profits
Wol Euler: heheheh, any video that has the courage to start with 44 seconds of a guy smoking in silence has my attention :)
    Qt Core: ;-)
Wol Euler: ooh, angry man is angry :)
Qt Core: he died less than a couple year after publishing it
    Qt Core: ;-)
    Wol Euler: hmmmm
Qt Core: he could sing the sweetest and most romantic things too
Qt Core: or even the funnier
Qt Core: but made you think with most of his songs

Wol Euler: I have the impression that Italian songs have more lyrics than songs in English
Wol Euler: I think that English singers repeat more, and generally use fewer words
Wol Euler: or perhaps I'm seeing a biased sample, based on your selection :)
Qt Core: yes, not many simple love song in my selectios ;-)
    Wol Euler: heheh
Qt Core: italian has the bad luck to be quite easy to make rhymes and even love and hearth do rhyme (amore/cuore) and they ryme even with all the verbs in infinitive form
    Wol Euler smiles.

    --BELL--

Qt Core: always wondered how one would know two words would rhyme in english ;-)
Wol Euler: it's tricky, and far fewer of them do
Wol Euler: I wonder whether growing up in a language where nearly all words rhyme, affects the way one thinks about words?
Wol Euler: about poetry, I mean
Wol Euler: because it's so dificult in english, it has a bit of special status just because of all the work

Qt Core: we sometimes are embarassed when we say in normal talk something that rhyme
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: whereas for us, it's more like a little gift from life :) somehting special
Qt Core: especially if the rhythm of the talking make that more noticeable
Qt Core: it is like you are speaking in slogans
    Wol Euler nods.

Wol Euler: speaking in rhyme and rhythm has special status here, either high or low. Preachers often do it, for example. Look at (listen to) Martin Luther King, for example.
Wol Euler: I wonder how an Italian MLK would draw that kind of attention to his words?
Qt Core: as we usualli do, gesticulating ;-)
    Wol Euler: heheheheheh
Wol Euler: but again, I've been in Italy and EVERYONE gesticulates all the time!
Wol Euler: it would draw more attention to stand absolutely still and not gesture
Qt Core: yes, but you wouldn't expect that from a podium
    Wol Euler: agreed
Wol Euler: but breaking htat expectation can be very forceful
Wol Euler: like in the opera Walküre, when Brunnhilde meets Wotan to confess her "crime", she speaks rahter than sings, and in the lowest register she can reach (even though she sings soprano)
Qt Core: but would make people feeling the intensity of the speaker convinctions
Wol Euler: the sudden difference is shocking
Qt Core: i find these lyric very pabbish (Gaber again): http://www.releaselyrics.com/f52d/gi...gica-allegria/ the title means "The illogic cheerfulness"
Qt Core: here the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO3Z26zAPMM

    --BELL--

    Wol Euler: sweet
Qt Core: i need to do some easter cooking
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: enjoy the day, qt
    Qt Core: you too!
    Wol Euler: happy easter.
    Qt Core: :-) bye
