    Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Aphrodite Macbain: It was hard to let go of my little cabin in the woods
Aphrodite Macbain: but I feel a bit lighter now
druth Vlodovic: nostalgia can be a pleasant, whistful feeling, or a centre for one's being

would like to add a poem to our poetry bash on March 29?
SusanClausson Resident: no, no thank you, aph
druth Vlodovic: what about you stevenaia?
stevenaia Michinaga: sorry was distracted, what was the question?
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hiya stevenaia

Aphrodite Macbain: we have 10 people on the list so far...
stevenaia Michinaga: no, poems and me are quite distant
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Aphrodite Macbain: well, I hope you both come to the event
    SusanClausson Resident: haha
Aphrodite Macbain: druth? what about you?
stevenaia Michinaga: I am such a novice
    Aphrodite Macbain: novices are nice
stevenaia Michinaga: at the moment I am working through some 3000 yr old poetry
druth Vlodovic: my poetry comes in odd spurts and can't be directed or controlled
Aphrodite Macbain: I was thinking it would be an opportunity to say goodbye to the old pab and welcome the new
SusanClausson Resident: what are you reading?
Aphrodite Macbain: when you next have a spurt - write it down druth
    druth Vlodovic: lol, sure
    Aphrodite Macbain: who Wander?
SusanClausson Resident: Stevenaia . . . 3,000 yr old poetry
    Aphrodite Macbain: ah right
druth Vlodovic: sounds interesting, maybe you can share that

    Aphrodite Macbain: ah
Aphrodite Macbain: Is it written like a poem?
Aphrodite Macbain thinks it would be nice if you could quote something from it.
    Aphrodite Macbain: :) tanks druth
    Aphrodite Macbain: and thanks
    druth Vlodovic: it gets insistent
stevenaia Michinaga: hmmm, you can google it since its copyright has long expired
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: it has many translations
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- maybe you could quote an appropriate bit in English
druth Vlodovic: as I understand it the original language, read by a native speaker, has many translations as well
    stevenaia Michinaga: http://www.yellowbridge.com/onlinelit/daodejing.php
Aphrodite Macbain: It came from an oral tradition?
    Aphrodite Macbain: daodejing!
    stevenaia Michinaga: http://www.wisdomportal.com/IChing/IChing-Wilhelm.html
stevenaia Michinaga: no, it was written on wooden boards
    Aphrodite Macbain: who wrote it?
Aphrodite Macbain: is there a single source?
    stevenaia Michinaga: Lao Tzu
    --BELL--
    Aphrodite Macbain: H@#$% S$%&*
    Aphrodite Macbain: sorry
Aphrodite Macbain: all I said was H@#$% S$%&*
    Aphrodite Macbain: weird
    Aphrodite Macbain: oh
    stevenaia Michinaga: SL censership?
Aphrodite Macbain: It's not so much a poem as a set of instructions, isn't it Stevenaia?
    Aphrodite Macbain: oops
druth Vlodovic: mmm, a timely one
    druth Vlodovic:

    Dao De Jing 11th verse

    Thirty spokes converge upon a single hub;

it is on the hole in the centre that the use of the cart hinges.

    Shape clay into a vessel;

it is the space within that makes it useful.

    Carve fine doors and windows,

but the room is usefulin it's emptiness.

The usefulness of what is depends on what is not

druth Vlodovic: you can read this for me on the 29th, since I work
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-) ok
stevenaia Michinaga: one of my favorite
    druth Vlodovic: the 11th verse
druth Vlodovic: so you can read it in the middle of an empty sim to give hope
    Aphrodite Macbain: I like it
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps let me check my calendar, what was the date/time again?
Aphrodite Macbain: there is hope in emptiness
    Aphrodite Macbain: March 29
    Aphrodite Macbain: noon
Aphrodite Macbain: in the molecule theatre
Aphrodite Macbain: an empty cup is more receptive to new things
Aphrodite Macbain: hope u can come - it's a Sunday
Aphrodite Macbain: ad there will be a transition celebration afterwards at 1pm

druth Vlodovic: where everyone dresses in black and wanders aimlessly to a slow and peculiar dirge
Aphrodite Macbain: I hope you can come Wander

    Ways of Poeting

stevenaia Michinaga: I tend not to do voice in SL.. giggles
    SusanClausson Resident: unknown, aph
Aphrodite Macbain: :-) I or someone else can read it for you
druth Vlodovic: or just type as I did just now
druth Vlodovic: most SL poetry is a mix
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- all texts s/be pasted in text
Aphrodite Macbain: some will be read as the spoken word can be beautiful
SusanClausson Resident: I ordered a headset today
Aphrodite Macbain: Paradise is going to do something. You two can come as twin voices

    hearing voices
SusanClausson Resident: One of the groups I joined said they did everything by voice
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- there are a number who only discuss things in voice
Aphrodite Macbain: If you can at least hear what is said - you can text yr response
stevenaia Michinaga: maybe there's a voice tranformer I can find
druth Vlodovic: there is an issue about voice vs not that makes the rounds in various sims,
Aphrodite Macbain: Anyway stevenaia, - think about it; it would be great if you could contribute something. you have been part of pab for a long time
druth Vlodovic: then peoplerealize that it isn't an issue at all, or they clique off
    druth Vlodovic: ymmv
druth Vlodovic: there is a voice morpher built in to SL
druth Vlodovic: not sure how good it is
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- you can transform your voice and make it 2 octaves higher...
Aphrodite Macbain: as long as you put the text in the chat box, you are OK
stevenaia Michinaga: smiles, I will think about it
druth Vlodovic: I have seen poetry delivered effectively by setting it down a few lines at a time, to get the cadence to the reader properly
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes
Aphrodite Macbain: chatting slowly one line at a time
druth Vlodovic: each method of communication has benefits
druth Vlodovic: visual, audio, text and so on

    Gotta...
Aphrodite Macbain: I was hoping some people would put on a song and dance act....
    druth Vlodovic: words, sounds, symbols
Aphrodite Macbain: but so far, no takers!
druth Vlodovic: movement, not even any vespas?
    Aphrodite Macbain: ommmmmmmm
    SusanClausson Resident: lol
Aphrodite Macbain: I was hoping Bruce might ride his Vespa
Aphrodite Macbain: and sing Oh sole mio
Aphrodite Macbain: I'll work on him...:D
    --BELL--
druth Vlodovic: get your own out, and wear matching jackets
Aphrodite Macbain: I have to go I'm afraid
    druth Vlodovic: the sandman calleth
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
stevenaia Michinaga: :) pass the balloon
Aphrodite Macbain: "send me a dream..."
druth Vlodovic: just what we need, a vespa gang stirring things up
    Aphrodite Macbain: he he
    Aphrodite Macbain: vrooom vroom
druth Vlodovic: spray painting poetry on walls and mowing grass
    druth Vlodovic: ttfn
