The Guardian for this meeting was Adams Rubble. The comments are by Adams Rubble.
This morning we had a nice discussion "How do you balance planning for the future, and accepting what is?" I met two avatars, Satia and Multiverse.
Adams Rubble: Hello Korel :)
Adams Rubble: Hello Bertram :)
Adams Rubble: Hello/ Saria :)
Bertram Jacobus: hi there adams and korel
Satia Ruby: HEL-LOOOOO =)
Satia Ruby: adams
Adams Rubble: Have you been here before Satia?
Satia Ruby: yes
Adams Rubble: nice to meet you :)
Satia Ruby: nice to meet you too ㋡
Korel Laloix: osiyo
Bertram Jacobus: you´re away korel ? ;-)
Adams Rubble: Is there anything anyone would like to talk about?
Bertram Jacobus: i have no topics so far ... you ? :-)
Adams Rubble: I have not come with anything :)
Adams Rubble: was rushhing around this morning
Satia Ruby: me too
Bertram Jacobus: oh. i see. it´s your duty session ? ;-)
Korel Laloix: Just rying to relax.
Adams Rubble: Interesting way to put it Bertram :)
Bertram Jacobus: hehe. sry. sometimes my english is funny :o)
Satia Ruby: relaxing is good on sundays
Adams Rubble: yes, to the relaxing and to the "duty" :)
Bertram Jacobus: :-)
Satia Ruby: ㋡
Adams Rubble: Have you been to many sessions Satia?
Korel introduces the topic
Korel Laloix: I have been thinking about the future.
Satia Ruby: bert and i watched kundun just before
Korel Laloix: How do you balance planning for the future, and accepting what is?
Satia Ruby: no... normaly just in background normaly
Bertram Jacobus: interesting question korel - i think about it ...
Adams Rubble googles Kundun
Satia Ruby: i´m to shy and my english isnt so good.. so i mostly just read
Adams Rubble: I won't put you on the spot Satia :)
Adams Rubble thinking about thinking about the future
Bertram Jacobus: i think that must not be a contradiction korel : accepting and planning ...
Satia Ruby: thanks adams ㋡
Adams Rubble: I think when it comes to balancing the present moment with thinking about the future, the important thing is to retain a balance
Adams Rubble: It is important to look at what we are doing
Adams Rubble: that might be planning for the future :)
Adams Rubble: I learned last Friday before I left work that a big project that has been hanging over me for a bout a year was imminent
Adams Rubble: at the same time I was winding dowwn the semester and looking forward to a break
Adams Rubble: so I have had to do some plannning for it over the weekend
Bertram Jacobus: that means that much work is still needed ?
Adams Rubble: which is why I was rushing around this morning :)
Bertram Jacobus: ah yes -
Adams Rubble: my work is just starting Bertram; I have had to wait for others
Bertram Jacobus: ah i see. what kind of a project is this adams pls ?
Adams Rubble: it will be a very big challenege for me
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: It is creating an image base on a new platform
Bertram Jacobus: sry i forgot adams : you work as an art teacher at an university ?
Adams Rubble: more of an image librarian
Adams Rubble: Hello Eliza :)
Satia Ruby: hi eliza
Bertram Jacobus: hi there eliza ! ... :-)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi friends, nice to see everyone
Bertram Jacobus: ah i see - interesting adams ...
Adams Rubble: The project is not so mportant as making room for something like it in our lives
Adams Rubble: Korel brought up planning for the future
Adams Rubble: how do we do that and maintain our contact with the present I think
Eliza Madrigal: mmm
Adams Rubble: I just used it as an example of something I am doing this weekend :)
Eliza Madrigal: listens happily, timely topic
Adams Rubble: In my case I am both trying to find a way to slow down at the same time part of me is gearing up
Eliza Madrigal: strange how that happens
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Adams Rubble: yes, it has been tricky
Adams Rubble: maybe part of planning for the future is including spots for rest and reflection
Adams Rubble: Hello Multiverse1
Eliza Madrigal: yes, maybe about 'sustainability'
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Multiverse
Satia Ruby: hi multiverse
Korel Laloix: Heya
Adams Rubble: Have you been here before Multiverse?
Multiverse1 Resident: hello all
Multiverse1 Resident: yes a few tymes
Bertram Jacobus: hi there multiverse
Eliza Madrigal: yes
Adams Rubble: nice to meet you :)
Multiverse1 Resident: hi Bertram
Bertram Jacobus: :-)
Multiverse1 Resident: and you Adams
Multiverse1 Resident: and Eliza
Adams Rubble: We are talking about planning for the future while maintaining contact with the present
Adams Rubble: Do I have that right Korel?
Adams Rubble: ah, she is away again
Multiverse1 Resident: the future here at PaB?
Adams Rubble: I have been struggling with that a bit myself this weekend
Bertram Jacobus: no multiverse - in general
Eliza Madrigal leans in
Adams Rubble: no Metaverse, any planning we do for our own future
Multiverse1 Resident: oh
Bertram Jacobus: or / and rthe future of others (?) ;-)
Adams Rubble: yes
Multiverse1 Resident: Roll with the changes
Eliza Madrigal: our lives are mutlitudes of others' lives too
Adams Rubble nods
Multiverse1 Resident: An REO Speedwagon song
Korel Laloix: That is an interesting though Eliza
Multiverse1 Resident: we cross paths, do we not, here and now for instance
Korel Laloix is looking up REO Speedwagon.
Eliza Madrigal: :) heheh
Satia Ruby: bert too :)
Bertram Jacobus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGgLPriZUSA
Eliza Madrigal: It seems to me we can feel heavy pressure based on what we think we have to do, but there is a 'whole situation' that is relating all the time
Eliza Madrigal: which, thinking of, both helps (we're in this together) and adds more pressure (Oh no, what I do affects them) :)
Korel Laloix: wow... never heard of them... and sorta glad... lol
Multiverse1 Resident: I'm having trouble with thinking what we "have" to do?
Eliza Madrigal hears her knees creaking
Eliza Madrigal: well, as a mom of three I have things I have to do
Bertram Jacobus: dying we will have to "do" multiverse ... ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: and indeed Bert
Multiverse1 Resident: hmmm
--BELL--
During the break my computer crashes for the first of two times. We brief drift toward planning for"society"
Satia Ruby: i think every being has to decide itself what it has to do or not, to survive
Bertram Jacobus: but only because we were born - so also this (dying) is "only depending" - like everything may be. so nothing would be a duty ...
Eliza Madrigal: mmm
Satia Ruby: welcome back adams
Multiverse1 Resident: I meant to have to do for ( Society )?
Eliza Madrigal: yes I guess I was thinking more of the relative level of things, but there is a way to see not with the same 'have to do' logic?
Eliza Madrigal: wb Adams
Satia Ruby: that depends on the society ^^
Adams Rubble: that was a powerful break :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bertram Jacobus: oohh society - i deny that topic :o) (for now at least - bad bad society!) :o)
Multiverse1 Resident: so what of the future?
Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: society has become this word to mean generalized anxiety :)
Multiverse1 Resident: depends on the society
Multiverse1 Resident: culture?
Multiverse1 Resident: Brazilian society then?
Eliza Madrigal: well if sitting down and coming up with a 5 year plan (outline) what factors in?
Multiverse1 Resident: or Tibetan
Adams Rubble does not usually plan for Brazilian society or Tibetan
Adams Rubble: hehe
Eliza Madrigal giggles
Multiverse1 Resident: neither do I
Eliza Madrigal: maybe that's what we've been missing
Multiverse1 Resident: We are all connected afterall
Satia Ruby: how do you can do a five year plan when you dont know what happens the next moment?
Multiverse1 Resident: hey hey to that
Bertram Jacobus: nice question dear
Multiverse1 Resident: a 5 second plan maybe for me
Satia Ruby: haha
Adams Rubble: :)
Multiverse1 Resident: another one now
Eliza Madrigal: if not at least having an idea then it is hard to have a foundation for life to unturn :)
Adams Rubble: In certain situations we can do long range planning in that projects might take a long time to complete
Eliza Madrigal: upturn
Adams Rubble: but we might not be here tomorrow
Eliza Madrigal: seems a balance, yes
Multiverse1 Resident: what if the plan succeeds, or fails. Do we create a contingency plan then.
Adams Rubble: people do
Sneaking in the nine seconds
Adams Rubble: I think getting back to the orginal question though is how do we do this and maintain our connection to the present
Adams Rubble wonders if this is a good time to bring up the nine seconds. hehe
Eliza Madrigal: planning to stop regularly
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Adams Rubble: stopping what we are doing to see what we are doing
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Multiverse1 Resident: yes planning involves steps from the present, and adjusting in the future
Multiverse1 Resident: so thus the connection between the present and future
Adams Rubble: yes, in stopping we might question what we are doing
Multiverse1 Resident: and change as required
Adams Rubble: helps us focus
Adams Rubble: yes Multiverse
Multiverse1 Resident: so our plan is a flexible one
Adams Rubble: why in the world am I doing that!
Eliza Madrigal: or 'who thought that was a good idea?!'
Adams Rubble: hehe
Adams Rubble: hmm, I did
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Multiverse1 Resident: yes the experimental stage can reveal unthought of consequences
Adams Rubble: also, in stopping we might see the stress building up
Multiverse1 Resident: in specific areas
Eliza Madrigal: true
Multiverse1 Resident: to fine tune the plan
Adams Rubble: or through it out :)
Adams Rubble: throw
--BELL--
Multiverse1 Resident: Then would we re-plan?
Mick and Yaku arrive
Satia Ruby: hi mickprpd
Satia Ruby: ups
Bertram Jacobus: mick ! :-)
Mickorod Renard: hello
Mickorod Renard: :)
Satia Ruby: mickorod
Satia Ruby: sorry
Multiverse1 Resident: Hi Mick
Mickorod Renard: np
Adams Rubble: Hello Mick :)
Satia Ruby: i better just call you mick :)
Mickorod Renard: thats great
Satia Ruby: wonderfull thansk :)

Satia Ruby: grr thanks ^^
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Mick :)
Satia Ruby: hi yaku
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Yaku :)
Mickorod Renard: Hi Yaku,,
Adams Rubble: Hello Yaku :)
Bertram Jacobus: hehe yaku - berlin crew is gathering ... ;-)
Multiverse1 Resident: Hello Yaku
Bertram Jacobus: whereas its funny : the afternoon folks come later - why ? :o)
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
Adams Rubble: It is good to take a step or two back when you close down in the pavilion so you do not rezz on top of someone during a session :)
Eliza Madrigal: plans just give us something to work with, measure by, but if we take them too seriously it can feel stressful
Eliza Madrigal: maybe we don't 'have' to be stressed
Multiverse1 Resident: you can step on me, I don't care
Adams Rubble: we are talking about how to plan for the future and stay connnected with the present
Multiverse1 Resident: the stress , seems to come from expectations
Adams Rubble: we can be very demanding of oursselves
Multiverse1 Resident: set the goal too high for example
Eliza Madrigal: nods, maybe, or not high enough so it feels not too exciting
Eliza Madrigal: I often feel stressed when I don't have a sense of guidance too
Multiverse1 Resident: or expect unrealistic results given certain expense of resources
Multiverse1 Resident: what you put in you get out, garbage or results
Eliza Madrigal: "he who lives within his means suffers from a lack of imagination" (I love quotes but they aren't applicable in all contexts)
Mickorod Renard: I am not sure what we are talking about, but I know that when I was more involved, scribe and host of a session, that it became too much on top of work and family commitments, I had to drop out
Satia Ruby: i´m a borderliner i´m already stressed when i just wake up ^^
Eliza Madrigal: wouldn't want that one o the wall of banking institutions
Eliza Madrigal: :)) Satia
Yakuzza Lethecus: wb adams
Satia Ruby: welcome back again adams
Eliza Madrigal: @ Mick, nods... part of the discussion was making sure there is down time/pausing time
Eliza Madrigal: stepping back/integration time
Bertram Jacobus: poor adams - wb ! ;-)
Adams Rubble: sigh. My computer is a little stressed this morning
Mickorod Renard: terrogation time
Mickorod Renard: in
Eliza Madrigal puts glue on Adams's cushion
Multiverse1 Resident: hehe
Adams Rubble tastes the glue
Satia Ruby: your computer is a borderliner too ^^
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Multiverse1 Resident: breathe in the SL air!
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal wonders if eliza breathes differently than her typist
Multiverse1 Resident: so who makes this plan?
Bertram Jacobus: ok folks - we have to leave - first life calls - thanxx for the community and everything - may all beings be happy pls ! *wave* ...
