The guardian for this session was Bruce Mowbray.  The comments and photos are by Bruce Mowbray.  The was a quiet session with only Korel and Bruce present, although after I'd departed, Wol arrived and chatted briefly.

    Bruce Mowbray: hi, Korel.
    Korel Laloix: Heya.
Bruce Mowbray: How did your gift-buying for the boss go?
Korel Laloix: I evidently did great.

Bruce Mowbray: I'm sure that you did!
Korel Laloix: Not sure who ended up with what.
Bruce Mowbray: Did anyone else know who the secret Santa was?
Korel Laloix: Shopping for three kids that you don't know their age or gender is a bit of a challenge.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I should think so!
Bruce Mowbray: I can't even shop for folks I've known for over 60 years!
Korel Laloix: No, it was just fun for me to shop on other peoples coin and get paid for it... lol
Bruce Mowbray: yeah. . . cool Santa.
Korel Laloix: I worked for me.
Bruce Mowbray: Is that a purple fish I see before us?
Korel Laloix: I am lucky with the job I have for sure.
    Korel Laloix: There are few.
Bruce Mowbray: It sounds like it's a good place for you.
Korel Laloix: A good place for me to be bossy.
Bruce Mowbray: Ahhh. Aph left it here.
Korel Laloix: And get paid for it... smiles
Bruce Mowbray: yeah, you've got a good thing going there.
    Korel Laloix: I know.
    Korel Laloix: Blessed.
Korel Laloix: But I do put up with a lot of crap though.
Bruce Mowbray: When I managed group homes for adults with retardation, I also had to buy presents -- and I also had to work every holiday. . . but got paid for it.
Korel Laloix: SO there are tradeoffs.
Bruce Mowbray: yes, I do understand tradeoffs.
Bruce Mowbray: I guess there are trade-offs with almost everything.
Bruce Mowbray: Are you sitting on Aph's fish?
Bruce Mowbray: Stay there... I'm going to take your picture.
Bruce Mowbray: Got two shots. Thanks!

    Korel Laloix: Sorry, was AFK.
    Korel Laloix: Good pick?
Korel Laloix: I so like purple.
Korel Laloix: Would love to work some of these colors into my new regalia.
Bruce Mowbray: I remember we chatted about the color purple once before.
    Korel Laloix: Yes we have.
Korel Laloix: It has to be the perfect purple I think now though.
Bruce Mowbray ponders the perfect purple.
Korel Laloix: What is that called?... Alliteration?

    --BELL--

    Bruce Mowbray: yep.
Korel Laloix: There are really deep shades of red, purple and green that I love... but not of yellow or orange or blue... I wonder why the difference? It is perception or processing or just preference?
Korel Laloix: Not as good at alliteration as you I think.
Bruce Mowbray: I suspect that what we call "tastes" or preferences actually have many threads leading to them....
    Korel Laloix: I agree.
Bruce Mowbray: My favorite color when I was a kid was orange...
Bruce Mowbray: then it changed to green. . .
Bruce Mowbray: and I'm not sure what it is now.
Korel Laloix: That is one thing that I find so fascinating about human behavior.. how different our likes and dislikes are.
Bruce Mowbray: I'm liking red more and more, though.
Bruce Mowbray: and things keep changing -- how's that for human nature?
    Korel Laloix: Perfect.
Bruce Mowbray: I'll give you a crazy example....
Korel Laloix: My original adult regalia was white and light blue mainly.
Korel Laloix: But on my new one, I want stronger colors.... But not too strong.
Bruce Mowbray: If someone had told me yesterday that I would actually ENJOY a cold, rainy, windy, overcast day,
Bruce Mowbray: I wouldn't have believed them.
Bruce Mowbray: But that's how it's been all day today -- and for some crazy "reason" I'm loving it.
    Bruce Mowbray: Your adult regalia?
    Bruce Mowbray: What's that?
Korel Laloix: I don't mind it if I can get out and do something physical, but if I just have to stand out in that weather I hate it.
    Bruce Mowbray: yes...
Bruce Mowbray: I got out and did something physical.
Bruce Mowbray: That probably made all the difference.
Korel Laloix: When I dance, the regalia I had as a little girl was cheap and sorta silly.
    Bruce Mowbray listens.
Korel Laloix: But when I started back dancing later on I had to get a new one that fit me.
Korel Laloix: So, that is what I mean by 'adult.'
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh, I see.
Bruce Mowbray: Do you like the regalia that you have now?
Bruce Mowbray: Since you talked about changing your colors, perhaps not.
Korel Laloix: It was a slight modified used one I got from a lady that stopped doing shawl and went to buckskin.
    Bruce Mowbray: ahhh.
Korel Laloix: Shawl is for us youngens... as they say.
Bruce Mowbray: Are these ceremonial clothes?
Korel Laloix: The older ladies more do jingle and buckskin/traditional.
Korel Laloix: Not as such... but they are important.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmmm.
Korel Laloix: They are designed to flow with the dance steps.
Korel Laloix: So what is suitable regalia for one dance may not work well for all.
Bruce Mowbray: It's cool, I think, that something we put on our bodies has meaning -- more than just covering ourselves.
Bruce Mowbray: Form and function -- "flowing with the dance steps."
    Korel Laloix: True...
Korel Laloix: And it is considered very poor form/rude to touch someone's regalia.
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh really?
Korel Laloix: But for some reason white folks like to touch when they show up to the powwows... so that causes some tensions sometimes.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmmm. Fascinating.
Korel Laloix: I actually let people touch mine to keep them off the other girls.
Korel Laloix: wow.... lmao... that sentence turned out soooo wrong...
Bruce Mowbray: Those same people would not think of touching a painting in a museum or . . . .
Bruce Mowbray: (no, I understand what you meant).
Bruce Mowbray: There might be a sort of reverence in the touching -- like sometimes folks touch statues of saints, etc.
Korel Laloix: That is why I don't mind it.. but some really get offensive.
Bruce Mowbray: Blub is trying to herd Aph's school of fish.
Korel Laloix: There are lots of unwritten rules at powwows that most folks won't know unless someone tells them.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I would have trouble there.
Bruce Mowbray: I don't pick up on unwritten rules very well.

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: You are a man, you don't pick up on anything subtle.... lol
    Bruce Mowbray: Yeah.
Bruce Mowbray: Subtle as a doorknob.
    Korel Laloix smiles
Bruce Mowbray: So, I will say,
Bruce Mowbray: may the spirits of all peace and freedom be with you.
Bruce Mowbray: and BYE for now, Kori.
Korel Laloix: do na da go hv i
    Wol Euler: hello korel
    Wol Euler: bye korel
Wol Euler: I wonder if that was the session :)
    Korel Laloix: Heya
Korel Laloix: Bruce was here and claimed it a short while ago.
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: I guess this is the session, then, just you and I
Korel Laloix: Was just Bruce and I for about half an hour.
Korel Laloix: But then went to look at something for a friend, and came back.
    Wol Euler: ah :)
Wol Euler: how are you today? working?

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: Yes, but not really busy.
Korel Laloix: It will start to get really stupid as the tax time comes.
    Wol Euler grins.
Wol Euler: yeah, I hear you
Korel Laloix: Not looking forward to that.
Korel Laloix: But I do get a bit of overtime.
Wol Euler: which is fine if you are actually paid for the hours you do
Korel Laloix: I do get it most of the time, but sometimes I just get time off instead which is nice as well.
Korel Laloix: Good to have a mix.
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: there are times when time is worth far more than money
Korel Laloix: I very much agree.
Korel Laloix: Have to go help a friend with her sim.
Korel Laloix: Thanks for the chat though..
    Wol Euler: my pleasure
    Korel Laloix: Ciao bella
    Wol Euler: enjoy the day
