Wol Euler was guardian and commenter for this session.

    Fael Illyar: Hi Wol :)
    Adelene Dawner: oh, Hi Wol.
Adelene Dawner giggles. "Didn't see you there."
Wol Euler: morning ade! this is early for you, or very late
    Wol Euler: morning fael!
Fael Illyar: ah, forgot something ... brb
Adelene Dawner: Neither, I've only been awake 12 hours. ^.^
    Wol Euler: heheheheh
Wol Euler: like jetlag without the bother of travelling.
    Adelene Dawner: hehe.
Adelene Dawner: Actually, I've decided to try out a 28-hour day schedule. I'll be going to sleep in 8 hours, for 9 hours.
    Wol Euler: O.O
    Wol Euler: okaaaay
Wol Euler: what's the idea behind this?
    Wol Euler: wb fael
Adelene Dawner: Well, just sleeping when I felt like it led to me being asleep from 6am to somewhere between 2 and 5 pm, which... wasn't working so well. And neither was trying to get to sleep earlier. This way, at least I'm 1) on a predictable schedule, and 2) awake at convenient times 5 days out of 7 for any particular use.
Wol Euler: the logic is impeccable :)
Adelene Dawner: Here's the schedule I'm using: http://www.google.com/calendar/embed...e7a3a387df730a
    Wol Euler surfs
Wol Euler: I'll be fascinated to hear how this works out.
Wol Euler: I take it you have no trouble sleeping during daylight hours?
Adelene Dawner: Me, too. I only started yesterday, and I'm still working the bugs out - had some trouble getting to sleep with the light, but that seems fixable.
Fael Illyar can relate to doing that.
Adelene Dawner intends to hang a double layer of black felt in front of her window.
    Wol Euler nods.
Fael Illyar: but I've only done that when I've been seriously drawn to doing something past the "I'm tired" point.
Adelene Dawner: That's pertty much the story of my life, though ^.^
    Wol Euler chuckles
Fael Illyar: ended up me sleeping during day sometimes :)
Wol Euler: I lived for a while on a shifted 24-hour clock, studying nightshift as it were
    Fael Illyar: like from 12-20
Fael Illyar: I found I didn't wake up as rested when I slept during the day though
    Wol Euler: indeed, me too
Wol Euler: or perhaps it was residual overtiredness?
Fael Illyar: well, it was waking up without an alarm so ...
Adelene Dawner: I've not really played with alternate schedules like this before - closest I've come was times when I had no schedule at all, and in those cases I tended to settle into 3 or 4 am to noon type deals. Nothing like 6am to 3pm.
Fael Illyar: not just once so I'd think it's not residues :)
Fael Illyar: I remember reading about a schedule where you sleep 15 minutes every 4 hours
    Wol Euler: what?
Adelene Dawner: I read about that too, Fa - Crazy.
Wol Euler: 1.5 hours a day?
    Adelene Dawner: *nods*
Fael Illyar: they say it's enough :)
Adelene Dawner: Apparently it's pure hell for 6 weeks and then *poof* you're fine for as long as you stay on the schedule.
Fael Illyar: but that it's rather painful to get the hang of it and you'll get deadly tired if you miss a sleeping period.
Adelene Dawner: Miss, nothing. From what I read, even being 10 minutes late with one is a problem.
Wol Euler: are there people who actually do this? i.e. for long periods of time?
Adelene Dawner: A few. Crazier than me. ^.^
Fael Illyar: yes, people with free enough schedules :)
    Wol Euler: yeah...
Wol Euler: I'm thinking of biology more than schedule
Fael Illyar: I felt curious about this after reading but ... I never felt like trying.
    Adelene Dawner: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep

A pause ensues while we all read.

Wol Euler: that wikipedia article is not exactly a rave review :/
    Adelene Dawner: *nods*
Wol Euler: "[u]nder extreme circumstances where sleep cannot be achieved continuously, research on napping shows that 10- to 20-minute naps at regular intervals during the day can help relieve some of the sleep deprivation and thus maintain minimum levels of performance for several days. However, researchers caution that levels of performance achieved using ultrashort sleep (short naps) to temporarily replace normal sleep, are always well below that achieved when fully rested."
Wol Euler: but still, I am surprised that it appears to work at all.
Wol Euler: "work" in the sense of "they neither die nor go mad"
Fael Illyar: Well, it's a strange world.
    Wol Euler: apparently :)
Adelene Dawner: *nods* It looks like it's mostly a matter of getting used to it - I've read a few blogs and most people either give up in the first 6 weeks or so, stay with it, or drop it because of social issues.
Wol Euler: I was going to ask about that, Ade :)
Wol Euler: you aren't working out-of-house any more?
    Adelene Dawner: Nope.
    Fael Illyar neither actually.
Adelene Dawner: I'm considering declarinfg one day a week - probably Wednesday - a computer-free day, and maybe doing some volunteering at the nursing home up the street on that day, but as it is now, I only ever have to leave the house to get groceries (and my store's open 24/7), do laundry, and get the mail.
Wol Euler chuckles. 24/7 stores are a necessity for that sleep style, I guess.
    Adelene Dawner: Not really. ^.^
Fael Illyar: just can't go to shop whenever you want to :)
Adelene Dawner: I'd just have to remember that two or three days out of the 7 it's not convenient to go.
Fael Illyar: but you'll usually be awake when the shops are open at some point of the day
    Adelene Dawner: Yep.
Wol Euler: true enough, even here most stores are open for 10 hours or so on 6 days.
    Adelene Dawner: *nods*
Wol Euler: still no Sunday shopping though!
Adelene Dawner: Most stores here have shorter hours on Sundays.
Adelene Dawner: Which is actually more convenient with this schedule than most others I've been on ^.^
Adelene Dawner: I tend to like to shop in my afternoon, and Sunday daytime *is* afternoonish, for me. ^.^
    Wol Euler: :)
Fael Illyar: in my case, that kind of schedule came about because I got rather drawn to a single activity. That wasn't the case all the time.
Adelene Dawner: When I have the opportunity, I tend to have at least one main-focus activity at all times. It's not always the same one, but I nearly always have one.
Fael Illyar: I preferred to continue the activity rather than interrupt it for the few minutes it'd have taken to fall asleep :P
Fael Illyar: well, also a factor was that I tended to avoid getting back to it for a while after waking up.
    Wol Euler: heh
    Adelene Dawner: *nods*
Fael Illyar: so, my attempts to control the time I spend at the activity were kind of making the problem worse :P
Fael Illyar: although at the other end
    Adelene Dawner chuckles.
    Adelene Dawner: hmm
    Adelene Dawner: hungry.
    Adelene Dawner: brb
Wol Euler: I've noticed that I make breaks from my main-focus task by doing other things, rather than being idle
Wol Euler: though it might actually look like idleness when seen from outside :)
Fael Illyar: that's been my style too.
Fael Illyar: although I sometimes do submerge into main-focus thing enough to not remember to take the breaks. Or then I don't remember taking them :)
    Wol Euler: mmhmm, that happens.
Wol Euler: I look up and realize that the sun set hours ago
Wol Euler: though since the thrombosis last summer, my legs tend to issue reminders that cannot be overlooked
Wol Euler: or I have become attuned to notice them.
Fael Illyar: the latter I'd think :)
    Wol Euler nods
Fael Illyar: you're no longer ignoring the warnings
    Wol Euler: yeah

Fael gives us a copy of her latest tattoo, and tells us about starting a SL business. A semi-nude fashion show ensues as we stand up to try them on.

    Wol Euler: ah, ty
Adelene Dawner is back, food's on the stove.
Wol Euler: is that what you're wearing?
Fael Illyar: a freebie I'm about to put out :)
    Wol Euler: wb
Wol Euler: do you have a store?
    Fael Illyar: almost :)
    Wol Euler grins
Fael Illyar: already have one thing for sale at XSL
    Wol Euler: cool
    Fael Illyar: http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php...ItemID=1236889
    Adelene Dawner: meep!
    Wol Euler: well done.
Wol Euler: and transferable too! nice touch.
Fael Illyar: well, no copy though :P
Wol Euler: which is fair and sensible
Adelene Dawner: nudity *and* a distinct lack of tattoo for me. :(
    Fael Illyar: try standing up?
Wol Euler: furry tattoos are an interseting concept...
Fael Illyar: oh, it goes under the skirt perhaps?
    Adelene Dawner: ah, something's loading.
Wol Euler: are they underwear, Fael?
    Fael Illyar: well, kind of
Fael Illyar: undershirt and shirt options
    Wol Euler: also very good!
Fael Illyar: but this flower tattoo is not a full body one
    Adelene Dawner: Ah, interesting. :)
Fael Illyar: it's my shop's logo but without the name :)
Fael Illyar: tintable so doesn't have to be black.
Wol Euler: ah, there it is.
    Wol Euler: nice.
    Fael Illyar smiles 'Thank you.'
Fael Illyar: I was surprised that only took me 5 hours to put together
Squee: I'm not okay, you're not okay, but that's okay.
    Wol Euler chuckles. Clever Squee.
    Fael Illyar likes that quote.
Adelene Dawner returns from dealing with sizzling food.
Adelene Dawner: (it may or may not still be edible, we'll see)
Fael Illyar: I also made a demo of my full body tattoo :)
    Wol Euler: ty!
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Wol Euler: is the demo also on XLS?
    Fael Illyar: not yet :)
Wol Euler: it's a good idea...
Fael Illyar: I still thinking on whether to make it jacket/pants or if it's enough to have it shirt/pants.
Fael Illyar: were the permission in the demo nomod, notrans?
Wol Euler: I would say to offer all 5 layers, it's extra effort but it's a nice gesture and is appreciated.
Fael Illyar: ah, I mean the demo.
    Wol Euler: no-mod, no-trans
    Adelene Dawner: nomod notrans, yes
Fael Illyar: I guess I could offer the top in jacket too for the normal versions.
Adelene Dawner should show Wol *her* new toy... in a minute.
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: I feel lazy and untalented :(
    Adelene Dawner: *giggles*
Fael Illyar: I didn't want to plaster the demo full of demo markings so, I'm only offering the demo on the top layers so you can't hide them so easily.
    Wol Euler: aah :)
Fael Illyar: well, prim clothing can still be used.
    Wol Euler: nice.
Fael Illyar: the purpose of the demo is to look nice but still be unusable for normal wear :)
Wol Euler: and the seams match very well too!
    Wol Euler: good work.
Fael Illyar: except the blur at places.
Fael Illyar: didn't I give you a copy of some color of the tattoo?
Wol Euler: that may be body stretch...
Wol Euler: in which case only some avs will see it
Wol Euler smiles as she notices the leopard spot texture within the tattoo
Fael Illyar: ... hmm, I think I forgot my attempt at fixing the seams a bit included in the demo.
Fael Illyar: (that only made them a bit worse.

Ade still can't spot the tattoo, and stands up to look for it.

Wol Euler: Ade, you're tiny! I hadn't realized.
Fael Illyar: at the spot I tried
    Adelene Dawner giggles.
Wol Euler: a very sweet av
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^ thanks
    Wol Euler: nice anim too
    Fael Illyar: yes :)
    Adelene Dawner: thanks ^.^
Adelene Dawner: This is my 'cute' anim set.
Adelene Dawner: I think it does a good job. ^.^
    Wol Euler: :)
    Fael Illyar: it does :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Adelene Dawner goes to check on the food
Adelene Dawner: lil' dark, but edible.
    Wol Euler: :)
Fael Illyar: hmh... did I use different blur setting for the demo afterall?
Fael Illyar: ah, I was wearing the other one below it :)

Now it's Ade's turn to talk about a SL business idea, her Modulo HUD. She gives us samples.

    Wol Euler: !
Adelene Dawner: This is still beta, with a bug or two (or three or four), but check it out, Wol.
Wol Euler: ty, I'll have a look. Do I wear them or rezz them?
Adelene Dawner: It's a modular hud device. You wear the Modulo base, and then you can load different modules into it by rezzing them in-world.
Fael Illyar: well, the seams only show, thankfully, if you zoom rather close :)
    Wol Euler: aaah
    Wol Euler: cool
    Adelene Dawner nods
Wol Euler: do I wear them too?
Adelene Dawner: Fa, not only do you have to zoom close, you have to know where to look. I think you're fine.
Adelene Dawner: no, Wol, rez them.
Adelene Dawner: one at a time.
    Fael Illyar: Ok :)
    Wol Euler: aaah
    Adelene Dawner: Neat, huh?
Adelene Dawner: The PaB hud dings and chats at you (or in public, toggleable by touch) and reminds you to come to meetings. Even offers a TP window.
    Wol Euler: heh
Wol Euler: any second now ...
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^

As promised, the hud dings and chats at us.

    Wol Euler: cool.
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
    Wol Euler: clever packaging too.
    Adelene Dawner: I think so.
Wol Euler: publish an API to it and make a fortune.
    Fael Illyar smiles.
    Adelene Dawner googles API... *chuckle*
Wol Euler: turn it into a public framework thingy, where only you can sell them the base but anyone can build plugins for it
Fael Illyar: well, documentation on how to program more plugins :)
Adelene Dawner: Actually I was going a bit in the other direction - give the base away, and a few freebie plugins, sell more complicated plugins, and let other people build plugins too.
Wol Euler: I meant sell for $1 or so :)
Wol Euler: you'd still move so many that a reasonable profit would be made
    Adelene Dawner: Maybe.
Wol Euler: but your way might be better
Adelene Dawner: As Fa's mentioned, for some people, $1L is enough to make them think twice. But if they're at my place for the base anyway, they might pick up a paid upgrade or two - especially if I make them come backto my place when there's upgrades for the software for the base.
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Fael Illyar hesitates buying product demos too when they're 1L a piece.
Adelene Dawner: Maybe even literally give the base away - script the base, when worn, to respond to a certain command, and whenever someone comes to the shop who isn't wearing a Modulo, automatically give them one. ^.^
    Wol Euler grins
Fael Illyar: some people might find that annoying though.
Wol Euler: you'd have to record those who ... ah, tricky
Fael Illyar: I think it can be detected
Wol Euler: LSL has no way to tell if the person accepts or rejects the inventory offer.
Adelene Dawner: That's why I'd check if they're wearing a hud first.
Fael Illyar: but the modulo has to be an active part of that.
Wol Euler: so somebody who rejected the offer would continue to be offered one each time
    Adelene Dawner: well, yeah.
Adelene Dawner: But why would they come back if they didn't want the product?
Wol Euler smiles and shrugs. Just considering possibilitles...
Fael Illyar: well, once you're selling other things too :P
Adelene Dawner: True, Fa, if I have one store selling multiple kinds of things. I might not. Or maybe I'll have one section dedicated to this.
    Fael Illyar: that'd work too.
Wol Euler: a scanner with a low radius of action
Fael Illyar: but... I'd better move back to figuring out how to make my shop look like a shop :)
    Wol Euler: :)
    Adelene Dawner giggles at Fa.
Fael Illyar: See you two later :)
Wol Euler: and I should go earn some RL $
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Wol Euler: thank you both, it was an amuisng session.
    Fael Illyar waves.
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
    Adelene Dawner: cya around, Wol
Wol Euler: bye ade, take care.
