Wol Euler recovered this session from the autologging database, and gave it a provisional title. Aurora Kitaj was the guardian.

    Zen Arado: Hi Aurora

    Aurora Kitaj: Hello there

    Zen Arado: Slack

    slack7639 Gigamon: hi!

    Auroras Graves: Hello to all

Aurora Kitaj: Welcome Zen and slack and Ari

    Aurora Kitaj: :)

    Arisia Vita: Hi all

Aurora Kitaj: Please make your self comfortable

    Auroras Graves: Thank You :)

    Zen Arado: Hi Ari

    Aurora Kitaj: Hi there Auroras

Aurora Kitaj: We've got quite similar names

Arisia Vita: Hi Zen, good to see you

    slack7639 Gigamon: all is one

Auroras Graves: :) indeed, i even have to cats that go by Aurora and Borealis :)

    Auroras Graves: two, sorry

    Zen Arado: you too

Aurora Kitaj: Slack has just been telling me about a theory he as about autism

slack7639 Gigamon: aurora says some here r interested in the subject of autism?

Aurora Kitaj: that a positive from me

    Aurora Kitaj: Hello there Susi

    Auroras Graves: Hello Susi

Aurora Kitaj: please come and take a seat

    Aurora Kitaj: make yourself comfortable

slack7639 Gigamon: ok, i will tell u my theory

Aurora Kitaj: Now for those of you who are visiting Play as Being for the first time

Aurora Kitaj: here is a wiki, which tells you about the sessions

    Aurora Kitaj: http://playasbeing.wik.is/

slack7639 Gigamon: i think maybe autism or aspbergers could be from MCS, multiple chemical sensitivity

Aurora Kitaj: that sounds very interesting slack

Aurora Kitaj: I've a son, his dad and me who are on the autistic spectrum

slack7639 Gigamon: to test it out, try using fragrance free everything: soap, lotion, laundry detergent, Neutrogena has the first two (look for "Fragrance Free"), I have been using Purex no dye, no fragrance

    Susi Alcott: _/!\_ to all

    Aurora Kitaj: Hi Susi,

Aurora Kitaj: Nice to see you, come take a seat, we are talking

Aurora Kitaj: about autism at the moment

slack7639 Gigamon: also, to clean my glasses, i was using neutrogena's fragrance free glycerin soap, but, while my stinging eye sensation did decrease, it wasn't complete, and it sometimes left a streak - i read that you can use baking soda to clean glass, and found that yes, that is good to use to clean your glasses, you don't even need the glycerin soap

    Susi Alcott: brb

slack7639 Gigamon: also, and EVA shower curtain is better than PVC, there is a lot less of an initial odor, and in a hot shower, the PVC is worse

Arisia Vita: that's strange slack, I never thought about that, but I am sensitive to fragrances

    Auroras Graves: Hello Pema

Aurora Kitaj: there is research that indicates that strong fragrences can cause depresssion

    Arisia Vita: Hi Pema

slack7639 Gigamon: yes, i no longer have perpetual sniffles, sinus headache, bloodshot eyes, irritated roof of my mouth

    Aurora Kitaj: Hello Pema

    Susi Alcott: back

    Susi Alcott: hi Pema

slack7639 Gigamon: Dove has an "unscented" soap, but once you take off the plastic, it smells just like the regular type

Aurora Kitaj: I'm on a gluten free dairy free diet

    Susi Alcott: (rolls the lines)

Aurora Kitaj: that really helps me

Arisia Vita: not to me, and that's what I use

slack7639 Gigamon: I quit drinking milk, i have lactose intolerance, so it fixes that, plus, milk is supposed to increase allergies i read

Pema Pera: (sorry, rather heavy lag.... hi everybody!)

slack7639 Gigamon: also, they put strange stuff in milk these days, some kind of hormones

Zen Arado: there are so many environmental factors that might be harming our health and we dont know it

Aurora Kitaj: Hello, just to check that every one who is new to Play as Being has noted the wiki... http://playasbeing.wik.is/

    Scathach Rhiadra: Hello all:)

slack7639 Gigamon: another thing to do is to get a fuller drain brush, and brush out your bathroom sink - mine had a thick membrane of black mold - imagin, u put your nose over that every morning

    Auroras Graves: Hello Scathach

    Aurora Kitaj: Hello there Scath

    Zen Arado: Hi Scath

    Zen Arado: Hi Pema

Auroras Graves: dont they plan to use genetic profiling for intolarances within the next years ?

Aurora Kitaj: and the fact that these conversations are recorded and go up on a wiki, so if you prefer not to have your name mentioned,

slack7639 Gigamon: there is a 5" brush, which u can use to get the P-trap, u can also get the bathtup P-trap with it,

Aurora Kitaj: please let me know so you can go as 'anonymous' on the record

Aurora Kitaj: sack, we are certainly getting some useful tips on a wide range of things ;)

slack7639 Gigamon: put a couple tablespoons of bleach in a 1 gal bucket of water, and run that down the drain

slack7639 Gigamon: also, a bathroom sink has a lav pop-up - it collects mold, so i've thrown mine out, and replaced it with a 1-1/4" crumb cup - it's easy to remove for any time i want to use the brush, and it won't accumulate mold

Aurora Kitaj: Please can I draw those who are new, to the Play as Being 'in a nutshell' to get a sense of what we are trying to acheive ..:) http://playasbeing.wik.is/Informatio..._in_a_Nutshell

Pema Pera: Is anyone here for the first time?

    slack7639 Gigamon: me

    Auroras Graves: me too

Auroras Graves: and reading the wiki :)

Pema Pera: Welcome, Slack and Auroras!

Aurora Kitaj: Play as Being is a playful shared adventure around the theme of Being. "Playing as Being" points to an exploration of reality. When we switch from what we have to what we are, what do we find? Roughly each quarter of an hour, we spend about nine seconds on this type of exploration (there are 900 seconds in 15 minutes, hence the 1% tax). During this time, take a full breath, relax, and focus on considering yourself as Being. Think of it as taking a 9-second moment, or a micromeditation, between tasks during your day. Don't get hung up on following the schedule -- any amount of this type of play is helpful. Play as Being was started by Second Life resident Pema Pera, and is run now with help from volunteers known as Guardians. You can read snippets from some of our daily discussion excerpts , and glimpse some examples of how the practice has changed our real life.

Zen Arado: you can get hypochondriacal about these things though

    Zen Arado: Like Howard Hughes

Auroras Graves: i see no-one named Moliere here :)

    Susi Alcott: (read)

    Susi Alcott: hi scath

slack7639 Gigamon: nah, i don't hav the same thing he had, he grew up when they had polio or something, they had to be careful then

    Scathach Rhiadra: Hi Susi

    Zen Arado: Hi Susi

    Pema Pera: Hi there Susi

slack7639 Gigamon: here's a good one from youtube, on the Human Body's Heat Plume, we all have this micro-atmosphere around us

slack7639 Gigamon: Body Heat 0:01:19 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VraEsZK_iKs The Human Body's Heat Plume: (jonasrisen) Sometimes I forget that we live in an ocean of air. I take for granted that the open space in front of me, or filling our buildings, has a profound affect on my very existence. The gasseous medium we swim through affects thermal comfort, energy movement, and air quality through complex molecular interactions described most accurately by fluid dynamics models but that are relatively intangible on a daily basis. How amazing is it then to see that our bodies are in constant interaction with the air around us. To the atmosphere, the human body is a giant heat plume. The video below shows the human body as it heats the surrounding air. Watch as plumes of warm air rise from the head, face, shoulders, hands. As you watch think about how much heat our buildings shed into the environment when the inside temperature is maintained at 72°F and the exterior temperature is 32°F! ... http://greenlineblog.com/human-bod

slack7639 Gigamon: has anyone seen this kind of thermal imaging before?

Pema Pera: Good to see you again, Arisia! You're becoming a regular here quickly :)

Pema Pera: Auroras, you like French literature, I take it?

Aurora Kitaj: slack, I think the recorder is complaining because the text that you are including is too long ;)

slack7639 Gigamon: 1 character it said

Arisia Vita: I enjoy the company Pema

Auroras Graves: not that much, i prefer the english humour to the french classics :)

    Pema Pera: :)

slack7639 Gigamon: the scents in things are called 'volatile organic compounds,' or VOC, on the International Space Station, they can't have anything scented, because it's really hard to filter these out

Arisia Vita: I have seen such images many times slack

Aurora Kitaj: whilst I may not like them, wondering why they need to be filtered out?

Aurora Kitaj: do they do damage?

Auroras Graves: they might cause sicknesses or nausea ?

Auroras Graves: smell is our oldest sense

Scathach Rhiadra: mmm, I would have thought sight was the oldest, never thought of smell:)

Auroras Graves: i dont want to sound rude

slack7639 Gigamon: when i laundered my sheets and comforters, that was a big improvement, when I quit using soap scum remover and replaced it with baking soda to clean the shower, that was another, and then using baking soda to clean my glasses, that was another - using the unscented glycerin as shampoo was another big improvement - (these are my experiences getting rid of scents, to get rid of headaches, sniffles, blood shot eyes, my theory is that maybe aspbergers or autism might benefit)

Auroras Graves: but the way the sperm finds the egg is by smell

    Scathach Rhiadra: ah

Zen Arado: I get scalp problems and suspect it is the ingredients in shampoos

    slack7639 Gigamon: yep

Aurora Kitaj: someone told me that there are seven senses

Aurora Kitaj: could those other 2 senses play a part

Zen Arado: but they all seem to have the same chemicals in them

slack7639 Gigamon: look up vids on youtube on MCS, multiple chemical sensitivities

Aurora Kitaj: you are maybe onto something, but if we were to ask a chemist might he or she not say that this is not evidence based and not proven in research?

Zen Arado: anybody know a way to wash your hair without using shampoo?

slack7639 Gigamon: if you have problems relaxing, or hav uncontrollable anger, i theorize this could be an answer to that also

slack7639 Gigamon: chemists and doctors have been paid off by the chemical companies to not say anything

Zen Arado: it is so hard to prove any of this of course

slack7639 Gigamon: The World According to Monsanto - Part 1 of 8 0:09:05 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hErvV5YEHkE (Roundup) The following documentary is a thorough, in-depth look at the history of one of the world's most dangerous and despised corporations and the serious issues swirling around genetically modified crops -- from the implications for biodiversity and personal health, to the corporate control of our food, and more.

Aurora Kitaj: but does you theory have relevance to non autistic people slack

Auroras Graves: yes, african soil for washing your hair, it is avaiable in some nature shops

    Zen Arado: thanks Auroras

slack7639 Gigamon: i think so, yes, if u are unable to relax - maybe you have shortness of breath - maybe it's due to these VOC

Auroras Graves: the Monsanto docu ? i thought i never got aired in the states, it was on TV half a year ago in Europe

    Auroras Graves: Hello Udge

    Udge Watanabe: evening all

    Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Udge!

    Arisia Vita: welcome Udge

    Zen Arado: Hi Udge

    Aurora Kitaj: Hello Udge ;)

Aurora Kitaj: please take a seat

slack7639 Gigamon: shortness of breath was one issue i wondered about at least 10 years ago - i wonder why i was forgetting to breath - with my changes, my conditioning is now changing

slack7639 Gigamon: does anyone here feel like they have shortness of breath?

    Pema Pera: hi Udge!

Auroras Graves: i am only noticing burning eyes when too much chemicals are in the air, along with headaches

    Pema Pera: h

Auroras Graves: mostly at work with the printers and all...

Pema Pera: (sorry, struggling with lag still :)

    slack7639 Gigamon: toner molecules?

    Auroras Graves: probably, yes

    Susi Alcott: hi Udge

Zen Arado: air quality is improveing in some countries

slack7639 Gigamon: an oral irrigator is good to get your gums feeling better also

Zen Arado: but is getting very bad in others

slack7639 Gigamon: especially the upper gumline, those nerves go right into the brain

Zen Arado: Britain used to horrendous in Victorian times

slack7639 Gigamon: something i want to learn about is where these nerve spots are on your head, maybe massaging those would help, idk

Auroras Graves: knowing the meridians ?

Pema Pera: If I may change the topic for a moment: Zen, if I may ask, have you had a chance to play with the kind of 9-seconds explorations that we describe on our web site http://playasbeing.wik.is/ ? I remember us talking about that last time I met, when you mentioned you hadn't yet looked at the web site

Udge Watanabe: sorry, utterly laggy here. Hello Susi, scath, aurora, auroras, arisia, slack, hzen and pema :)

Auroras Graves: like in TCM ?

    Zen Arado: um

Auroras Graves: Hello again Udge :)

    Aurora Kitaj: :)

Zen Arado: have been very busy this week

    Zen Arado: sorry

    Pema Pera: just curious :)

Zen Arado: I have 3 meditation periods per day

    Zen Arado: 30 mins

Zen Arado: do a lot of noticing thoughts there

Pema Pera: when we get together here, we chat about many things, but the one thing we have in common is this 9-sec practice, and yes, it is rather different from longer periods

Pema Pera: it may be interesting to compare

Zen Arado: oh yes I know

Pema Pera: many of us combine shorter and longer ones

    Scathach Rhiadra nods

    Susi Alcott: hi Udge

Pema Pera: I myself have found it very difficult to "just be aware" a whole day long

Pema Pera: even when sitting a few times a day for half an hour or longer

Pema Pera: to have little reminders seems to work better, toward integration into daily life

Zen Arado: I find I come back to myself more and more often the more I practice

Zen Arado: especially if I have strong emotions

Pema Pera: can you give an example?

Zen Arado: I am noticing my jealousies and working with them at the moment

Zen Arado: no one else here ever gets jealous ?

    Udge Watanabe: heh

Aurora Kitaj: Yes for me :(

Zen Arado: it is a form of anger I thnk

Zen Arado: and resistance to what just is

Auroras Graves: trying to spent more time with friends in the RL, the winter is getting everyone down around here

Pema Pera: where is "here" Auroras?

Zen Arado: why does winter get us down?

slack7639 Gigamon: i have no jealousy

Zen Arado: it is just a season?

Auroras Graves: Switzerland, almost no sun for ages

Zen Arado: maybe you don't notice it though ?

    Aurora Kitaj: seasonal affective disorder?

Udge Watanabe: well, no, it is also a physiological response to changes in sunlight and temperature and humidity

    Zen Arado: slack?

Zen Arado: that is my experience

Zen Arado: as I meditate more

Udge Watanabe: at laest in many parts of the world :)

    slack7639 Gigamon: um

Auroras Graves: we are lacking Vitamin D and the hormones that our brains built when we are seeing light

    Udge Watanabe nods

slack7639 Gigamon: can u give me an example? what are you jealous of?

Auroras Graves: even a Buddist friend is at edge (and that is saying something)

Zen Arado: so people in Norway are more depressed than people in Southern zones?

Auroras Graves: they are using light therapy to simulate the natural spectrum of the sunlight

Zen Arado: I lived in Australia for a long time and got depressed there too :)

    Auroras Graves: home sickness ?

Zen Arado: oh Slack - that is a bit personal

slack7639 Gigamon: can u make it general?

Zen Arado: not others material things

Zen Arado: people who have perfect health

    slack7639 Gigamon: yes, ic

Aurora Kitaj: like a three piece suit?

Zen Arado: who can rise from chairs without thinking about it

Zen Arado: I have Muscular Dystrophy

slack7639 Gigamon: you can look at it this way, they won't have it forever

Udge Watanabe: wow, zen, I am sorry to hear that.

Zen Arado: yes I knowit in my head

Zen Arado: jealousy isnt reasonable though :)

    Zen Arado: just an example

Aurora Kitaj: no but it's real

slack7639 Gigamon: plus, there are all kinds of things that can get u

Zen Arado: it doesnt bother me usually

Pema Pera: that must be hard to live with, Zen

    Scathach Rhiadra nods

    Zen Arado: I manage

    Auroras Graves: Hello Adams

    Susi Alcott: hi Adams

    Aurora Kitaj: Hello Adams

    Adams Rubble: Hello Everyone :)

Zen Arado: anyway it has ben proved that disability only affects happiness for a short time

    Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Adams

    Pema Pera: Hi Adams!

    Arisia Vita: Welcome Adams

Zen Arado: we all have our problems

    Udge Watanabe: hello adams

    Zen Arado: Hi Adams

Zen Arado: Alot of people jealous in the UK at the moment

slack7639 Gigamon: for the past 20 years or so, i've had chronic sniffles, and headache, i never needed to have that :-(

Zen Arado: at bankers who have given then selves huge pensions

    Zen Arado: for total incompetence

slack7639 Gigamon: yes, how they get away with this amaze me

    Udge Watanabe nods

Aurora Kitaj: yes, ppl running banks which have been nationalised, whilst laying off 1,000 of employees

    Arisia Vita: Jealous or angry?

Aurora Kitaj: they take huge pensions

    Aurora Kitaj: bonuses

slack7639 Gigamon: what goes up, must come down, unfortunately, i wonder what this behavior will bring about, probably a huge war

    Zen Arado: collective jealousy?

Aurora Kitaj: I hope not slack

slack7639 Gigamon: probably in 2 years

slack7639 Gigamon: i hope not too

Aurora Kitaj: armed with this knowledge, what in your view should we do to prevent such a thing happening?

slack7639 Gigamon: not much u can do

Zen Arado: so much conservatism in societies

Auroras Graves: Obama cut the wages down to 500.000 dollars a year

slack7639 Gigamon: pray it doesn't occur

    Auroras Graves: instead of x-millions

Zen Arado: so hard to change anything

Zen Arado: why do we put up with these high salaries?

Adams Rubble: Change like this takes time; the US faced the exact same situation 100 or so years ago

Aurora Kitaj: isn't war collective amnesia?

Zen Arado: what do they need all that money for?

Adams Rubble: all that has been chipped away

slack7639 Gigamon: cause we hav no power, and our elected officials have been bought off by lobbyists

Zen Arado: so much greed in the world

Adams Rubble: now the protections just have to be put back in place

Zen Arado: we should have a revoution :)

slack7639 Gigamon: obama is the lobbyist in cheif

    Zen Arado: like Marx said

Arisia Vita: Perhaps it's time for a radical change in the economy?

Scathach Rhiadra: that has been tried before, didn't really work:)

Zen Arado: but politicians only have so much power to change things too

Zen Arado: public opinion goes against change

Aurora Kitaj: Whatever you do, don't panic!

    Zen Arado: ha ha

Auroras Graves: i need a towel.....

Aurora Kitaj: Otherwise, we'll all be doomed

    Aurora Kitaj: yes

Zen Arado: we all still want to drive cars

    Udge Watanabe: and have computers

    Arisia Vita: do we?

slack7639 Gigamon: well, individually, we have no control over economic policies

Scathach Rhiadra: the world is made up of people, if the people change themselves, will this not effect change in the wider world?

Arisia Vita: I would just as soon not have to drive

    Zen Arado: personal convenience

Arisia Vita: if there was a better alternative

Zen Arado: more important than distant concerns

Udge Watanabe: give it up then, arisia. Take the bus, or your bike.

Auroras Graves: how would we get food and clothes and getting to work

Zen Arado: society is structured around the car

    Aurora Kitaj: good question Auroras

Zen Arado: especially in the US ?

    Arisia Vita: work from home?

Adams Rubble: Some of us in US ride our bikes to work :)

    Zen Arado: stop flying too

    Udge Watanabe: mmhmm

Arisia Vita: have items we want/need delivered?

Auroras Graves: a guy from New York boasted that he can get everything where he lives, that he needs no farmer ....

Arisia Vita: FedEx to our door, and work from home?

Udge Watanabe: probably thinks that strawberries grow in boxes

    Adams Rubble: :)

    Scathach Rhiadra: :)

Auroras Graves: probably would have ended up growing tomatos in his window mold ?

Auroras Graves: it works with mushrooms :)

    slack7639 Gigamon: what kind?

Auroras Graves: my english fails me here... Champignions ?

slack7639 Gigamon: are they good for you? they do not appear appetizing to me

Auroras Graves: well, he is living in NY, so he should be used to toxics

    Udge Watanabe chuckles

Adams Rubble: Sorry to run so soon after coming late but I am being called away. bye

    Scathach Rhiadra: bye Adams

    Pema Pera: bye Adams!

    Auroras Graves: bye Adams

    Zen Arado: bye Adams

    Udge Watanabe: byea dams

Aurora Kitaj: This has been an incredibly wide ranging discussion tonight, I wondered whether in the last 10 minutes or so if anyone wanted to try and sum up what we've covered? I'm going to have hard task giving this discussion a title overwise ;)

    Aurora Kitaj: *otherwise

    Aurora Kitaj: bye adams

Zen Arado: environmental topics and jealousy ?

Aurora Kitaj: in one :) Thanks Zen

Auroras Graves: the smell of life ?

slack7639 Gigamon: scented products, mold, jealousy

Aurora Kitaj: oh! Good one Auroras

Zen Arado: future wars might be caused by Third world jealousy of our standard of living I thnik

Aurora Kitaj: now, I'm completely lost, they're as good as each other :)

Auroras Graves: the Scents of Today ?

    Zen Arado: ha ha

Pema Pera: that's a nice one!

    Aurora Kitaj: masterful Auroras

    Aurora Kitaj: :)

Auroras Graves: please stop, i just blushed !

    Udge Watanabe: :)

    Aurora Kitaj: :)

Zen Arado: I will have to do this 9 second thing too

    Scathach Rhiadra: :)

Pema Pera: "Aurora and the Auroras"

    Aurora Kitaj: singular and plural

Zen Arado: I am so disorganised

Scathach Rhiadra: it will be well worth your while Zen:)

Susi Alcott: I'm sorry for the call

Udge Watanabe: bye susi, take care.

    Scathach Rhiadra: bye Susi

    Zen Arado: bye Susi

    Susi Alcott: _/!\_

Auroras Graves: goodbye Susi, have a nice weekend

Aurora Kitaj: Bye Susi thanks for coming along

    Pema Pera: bye Susi!

Pema Pera: I'll have to take off to. Good seeing you all!

Pema Pera: see you soon again

Aurora Kitaj: bye Pema, thanks for coming along :)

    Zen Arado: bye Pema

Udge Watanabe: bye pema, enjoy the day.

    Scathach Rhiadra: bye Pema

Auroras Graves: Have a good time Pema

slack7639 Gigamon: anyone here ever tried exfoliating with table salt?

slack7639 Gigamon: it kill bacteria too

    Udge Watanabe frowns.

    Zen Arado: sorry no

Zen Arado: used to be used on wounds

Udge Watanabe: I use a cheesegrater like nature intended :)

    Scathach Rhiadra: :)

slack7639 Gigamon: u can put some in a cup of warm water, and swish with it, to kill micro-organisms

    Zen Arado: for preserving meat

Arisia Vita: Time for me to say bye for now, but hope to see you all again soon

Scathach Rhiadra: it is good for sore throats

slack7639 Gigamon: i came across something that said himalayan sallt is close to the same structure as in our bodies, which is different than table salt

Auroras Graves: it is the same molecule ?

    Zen Arado: Bye Ariaia

Aurora Kitaj: Thanks for coming along Ari, great to see you :)

    slack7639 Gigamon: something

Udge Watanabe: bye arisia, take care.

    Scathach Rhiadra: bye Arisia

Auroras Graves: it is late here too

slack7639 Gigamon: u can google it, it's there

Auroras Graves: may i wish everyone a good time ?

Udge Watanabe: please, and thank you, and you too!

    Zen Arado: sure

Aurora Kitaj: I shall be checking out all those links that you send Slack

Auroras Graves: it has been a great time to be here, thank you all very much

Scathach Rhiadra: I must go too, good night all, namasté:)

    Zen Arado: be Auroras

Udge Watanabe: come back any time.

    Aurora Kitaj: Bye Auroras

Aurora Kitaj: great to meet you

    Udge Watanabe: well, at 1, 7, 1, 7 :)

    Zen Arado: Bye Scathh

    Aurora Kitaj: please come again

    Aurora Kitaj: Bye Scath

Aurora Kitaj: thanks for coming along

slack7639 Gigamon: i think i ned to do a web page with this info, maybe it could help with other things, like gulf war syndrome

Zen Arado: suppose I better go to

    Zen Arado: bye everyone

Udge Watanabe: bye zen, bye scath

slack7639 Gigamon: a lot of mysterious illness maybe cause by scents, voc

slack7639 Gigamon: seems logical doesn't it?

slack7639 Gigamon: we didn't have the kind of scents today 50 years ago

Aurora Kitaj: actually I've heard this said by so many people independently that I would probably agree
