Wol Euler was guardian for this session, filling in for Lia.

Pila Mulligan: hi Wol and Arch

    --BELL--

    Wol Euler: hello pila

Wol Euler: let's switch to the small setting

    Pila Mulligan: ok

Pila Mulligan: Arch, are you there?

Wol Euler: I was talking with Bertrum this morning about retreats and the Retreat.

Pila Mulligan: I read the log -- nice chat :)

Wol Euler: and whether Sl itself is perhaps a retreat-ish kind of thing?

Pila Mulligan: it is, although I had not thought of the analogy before reading the log

Wol Euler: how do you see that, Pila?

Pila Mulligan: well, it is interesting in that it can work both ways -- (1) for people spending many hours a day on SL, RL is the respite (2) for people able to squeeze in some time for PaB sessions, those are a respite

Bertram Jacobus: hello wol. pila and arch :-)

    Wol Euler: hello bertram

    Pila Mulligan: hi Bert

Bertram Jacobus: and adams also : hi :-)

    Wol Euler: hello adams

    Pila Mulligan: hi Adams

Wol Euler: ah, a new look.

    Adams Rubble: Hello everyone :)

Wol Euler cams in for a good look

Pila Mulligan: the Zen scholar look

    Wol Euler: :)

Adams Rubble: Our California colleagues will be back with us soon

Pila Mulligan: or owld it be Chan (Chinese?)

    Adams Rubble: :)

Bertram Jacobus: rinzai or soto ?

Pila Mulligan: yes, I'm eager to hear about their week

    Adams Rubble: vanilla or chocolaate?

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    Pila Mulligan: hi Arch

Pila Mulligan: we moved to a smaller circle

    Pila Mulligan: slide on it

Adams Rubble: We've enjoyed the retreat center in Bieup this week

Pila Mulligan: that was a nice idea Adams

Adams Rubble: it would be nice to see something permanent there

Archmage Atlantis: aH pILA, THE ONLY ODER

Wol Euler: yes, thank you for making that

Pila Mulligan: did you set up a place?

Pila Mulligan: or is it just land

Adams Rubble: Storm will be appalled when he sees it (giggles)

Pila Mulligan: I've not seen it

    Pila Mulligan: 'only oder'?

Adams Rubble: just some cushions and trees

Pila Mulligan: do you have a landmark, Adams

    Pila Mulligan: thanks

    Pila Mulligan: brb

Adams Rubble: I guess Pila went to look

Wol Euler: hehehe, had to go see!

Bertram Jacobus: ty for the lm (my computer is lagging) ...

Adams Rubble: Actually Pila I think they were cushions from you :)

    Pila Mulligan: nice

Adams Rubble: Eliza gave them to me

    Pila Mulligan: :)

Pila Mulligan: Storm will not mind

    Pila Mulligan: very elegant

Adams Rubble: well everything is crokked

    Adams Rubble: crooked

Adams Rubble: Storm dioes such beautiful building

Pila Mulligan: and I agree, a permanent kind of retreat place there is a good idea

    Wol Euler nods

Adams Rubble: there is one thing we need to think about

Adams Rubble: since it is in SL people just drop in

Adams Rubble: a little confusing if one is on retreat mode

Wol Euler nods. We need a rotating sign saying "we are in silent mode, shut up and sit"

    Archmage Atlantis: Nothing is permanent

    --BELL--

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    Bertram Jacobus: lol wol :o)

    Archmage Atlantis: Not even silence

Pila Mulligan: I prefer not being inside a room, whether RL or SL, so that type of setting (and this PaB setting, of course) wold have several potential uses

Bertram Jacobus: but may be nothing is permanent ? ;-)

Pila Mulligan: maybe we need several of them

Adams Rubble: Signage might be a possibility, maybe not quite as blunt :)

    Archmage Atlantis: We need touchpints

    Adams Rubble pokes Wol

    Archmage Atlantis: points

Pila Mulligan: what are touchpints, Arch?

    Wol Euler: :)

    Pila Mulligan: touchpoints?

    Adams Rubble: brb

Archmage Atlantis: Places of being, that are constant, yet move

Pila Mulligan: yes, a nice idea

    Wol Euler: hmmmmm

Pila Mulligan: one for silence, meditation and such -- one for chats, etc -- maybe more

Pila Mulligan: although no need to overlap with PaB

Wol Euler: like a game of Pin the Noble Truth on the Donkey?

    Adams Rubble: back

    Pila Mulligan: :)

Pila Mulligan: Wol sounds very Buddhist there :)

Archmage Atlantis: The search is unending

    Pila Mulligan: wb Adams

    Adams Rubble: :)

    Archmage Atlantis: Donkeys wander

    Wol Euler: exactly :)

    Bertram Jacobus: brb too -

Archmage Atlantis: And carry many things

    Archmage Atlantis: Not all truth

Pila Mulligan: makes me think of the donkey dumping Saul of Tarsus :)

Archmage Atlantis: Yet not all false

Wol Euler: but like us, they do their best with what they are given.

    Pila Mulligan: wb Bert

    Adams Rubble: wb Bert

    Bertram Jacobus: ty :-)

Bertram Jacobus: had to take a look at the meditation place too and to oni... you know what ... (?) :o)

    Bertram Jacobus: gokko :o)

    Pila Mulligan: :)

Archmage Atlantis: I have Nimbus, 16 yo, who wishes to sit on my lap

    Adams Rubble: ?

Bertram Jacobus: you don't know that adams ? the oni thing ? :-)

    Adams Rubble: no

Pila Mulligan needs to leave to deal with a work mater -- bye for now everyne

Wol Euler: bye pila, take care.

    Adams Rubble: bye Pila

Archmage Atlantis: My lap is old

Bertram Jacobus: then have a look at that : (lol)

    Bertram Jacobus: onigokko

    Adams Rubble: ohhh

    Wol Euler laughs

Wol Euler: it wouldn't be Friday at PaB without an onigokko or two.

    Bertram Jacobus: stop

    Adams Rubble groans

    Adams Rubble: :)

    Wol Euler: ah well

Adams Rubble: I already got one Bert

Bertram Jacobus: simply wear it - and then ... :o)

Bertram Jacobus: ah. then you know it

Bertram Jacobus: lol. what does it mean to you wol ?

    Wol Euler: the oni?

    Bertram Jacobus: yes :-)

Wol Euler: just a little social joke, a moment of communal silliness and play.

    Bertram Jacobus: yes. wonderful

Bertram Jacobus: but - may be some people don't like it ?

    Wol Euler: sure

Wol Euler: some people are offended by playfulness

    Bertram Jacobus: heavy (?) :o)

    Adams Rubble pokes Wol again

Wol Euler: they think like must be serious and earnest and formal

    Archmage Atlantis: Depends Betram

Wol Euler: nobody like that is here, of course.

    Adams Rubble rolls her eyes

    Wol Euler pokes adams

Archmage Atlantis: Play as escape often offends

Wol Euler: I often wonder why.

Archmage Atlantis: Still it has meaning

Bertram Jacobus: play as escape ? what is that ?

    --BELL--

Archmage Atlantis: Wol, might you answer?

Wol Euler: well, I think Arch means using playfulness deliberately as a way to lighten an atmosphere or change the direction of a conversation

Adams Rubble: or relieve someone's boredom :)

    Wol Euler: mmhmm

    Archmage Atlantis: Well put Wol

Wol Euler: other people believe that these are bad things to do.

Bertram Jacobus: oh. ty. and that can offend often (?) ... hmmm ...

Wol Euler: that a heavy and depressing and anxiety-riddden atmosphere is a test of our spirit, and we should buckle down and endure it

Adams Rubble: I think this is getting to be a very silly conversation

Wol Euler: playfulness challenges that idea

    Wol Euler: :)

Bertram Jacobus: strange ... then a good motivation causes a "bad result" ? ...

Wol Euler: rather that some consider the motivation to be bad.

Adams Rubble: Play often is needed when things get tense and it is a way of relieving tension

Archmage Atlantis: Are you theCreator of All Being, Bertram?

Bertram Jacobus: i have no idea

Archmage Atlantis: Are you God, Bertram?

Wol Euler: that was a strange question, arch.

Adams Rubble: Trying to divide people into playful or not playful groups is not very useful

Bertram Jacobus: i think no arch. why do you ask ?

Adams Rubble: I don;t understand your questins either Arch

Archmage Atlantis: Well, once upon a time, I thought I might be, or at least E's vision on this earth,,,,,,,nuch you say reminds me of that time

Bertram Jacobus: what is E´s vision , please ?

    Bertram Jacobus: gods vision ?

Archmage Atlantis: I do not know

Archmage Atlantis: This is what is realize

Bertram Jacobus: i get increasingly confused, sorry ...

    Archmage Atlantis: Wol, help please

Wol Euler: you said "or at least E's vision on this earth", could you tell us who or what E is?

Archmage Atlantis: E is God without sexual attributes

Bertram Jacobus: but who tries to "divide palyful people from not playful people" ? and how did you come to that idea arch ?

    Archmage Atlantis: i didn't

Wol Euler: (that was Adams, actually)

Adams Rubble: That part wasn;t Arch

Bertram Jacobus: ups. sry :o) then adams, please ? ;-)

    --BELL--

Adams Rubble: There was a good bit of assumption made about people's reaction to play which assumed some people are toos erious and easily offended by it

Wol Euler: ... which was purely theoretical and not in relation to any person here present.

Adams Rubble: I think such talk is divisive

    Archmage Atlantis: Agree

    Archmage Atlantis: Again, agree

Adams Rubble: we are about respecting each others beliefs and feelings

Wol Euler: you're right. I withdraw the comment and apologize

Adams Rubble: I am afraid I broke up your conversation

Bertram Jacobus: i don't feel broken up ...

Bertram Jacobus: ty and sry please to all if somebody felt offended

    Adams Rubble: Apologies aren't necessary

Adams Rubble: sometimes we need to remember what we are about

Adams Rubble: and play is an important part of that

Bertram Jacobus: i know : in my person are very subtile bad habits ... *sigh* ... :-/

    Wol Euler nods

Adams Rubble: but not the only part

Archmage Atlantis: Surely, Adams, you have not

Adams Rubble: I have not what?

    Archmage Atlantis: offended

Adams Rubble: thanks, I hope not

Adams Rubble: I have had a week with quite a bit of tension which has put me on an edge

    Bertram Jacobus: oh

Adams Rubble: It has been good for me but stressful

Archmage Atlantis: i too am on edge

Adams Rubble: I have had periods of trendous calm and other periods of painful stress

Adams Rubble: I am watching myself go back and forth

Bertram Jacobus: heavy times ? in general ? these days ?

Wol Euler: I'm sorry to hear it, adams.

Adams Rubble: Difficult work time for me; lots of things going wrong

Adams Rubble: No Wol, it is good

Adams Rubble: I had dreams of calm and ahitated dreams this week

Adams Rubble: one night calm, next night agitated

Adams Rubble: so it extends into my unconscious

Adams Rubble: For awhile I almost thought I had two different brains

Adams Rubble: but today I thought of Stim's talking about grabbing positive or negative energy from any moment

Adams Rubble: I think that may be what I am doing

Adams Rubble: So I can use Love one moment and drop everything

    --BELL--

Adams Rubble: and then pick it all up again the next moment

    Archmage Atlantis: Must go

Wol Euler: bye arch, take care.

    Adams Rubble: bye Arch

Bertram Jacobus: sounds as heavy work adams ...

Adams Rubble: I feel I am seeing things like I never saw them before

Bertram Jacobus: in all spiritual textes it is said, that that is a normal aspect on the way

    Bertram Jacobus: to see more

    Bertram Jacobus: not only comfortable

    Adams Rubble nods

    Bertram Jacobus: for a while

Adams Rubble: yes, each time around we see a little bit more

Bertram Jacobus: but necessairy and VERY good "a bit later" ... ;-)

Adams Rubble: The agitated times are a time to see things often

    Adams Rubble: but painful too

Adams Rubble: but then we can watch the pain

Bertram Jacobus: and let it pass perhaps

    Adams Rubble: :)

    Adams Rubble: hopefully :)

Adams Rubble: well, of course it will :)

Adams Rubble: I am being called away and must go

Bertram Jacobus: "sure" : the karma philosophy gives a view in that direction : heavy old things come and get solved in such ways ...

Wol Euler: bye adams, take care. enjoy the day

    Adams Rubble: :)

Bertram Jacobus: bye adams. thanks for your words

Adams Rubble: bye Wol and Bert :)

Wol Euler: Let's move on, Bert.

Bertram Jacobus: yes. would appreciate it :-)
