    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Hana
    Hana Furlough: hi stevenaia!
    Hana Furlough: hi lingerer
Lingerer Xaris: Hey Hana. What does 'cultivator' mean?
    stevenaia Michinaga: Hi Pila, Paul
    Paul Namiboo: Hi everyone
    Lingerer Xaris: Hi Paul
    stevenaia Michinaga: Lingerer
    Lingerer Xaris: Hi Pila
Pila Mulligan: hi Steve, Hana, Lingerer and Paul
    Lingerer Xaris: Hi stevanaia
    Hana Furlough: hi pila
    Hana Furlough: hi paul
    Paul Namiboo: Hi Hana
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: have you been here before Lingerer ?
    Lingerer Xaris: Yes, we've met
stevenaia Michinaga: my memory is like that
Lingerer Xaris: I had dark hair then
Paul Namiboo: all the chatters must be on their way to the RL meeting
stevenaia Michinaga: you are not yet fully rezzed
Pila Mulligan: Cultivator seems to be associated witht he Play as Being group, that I did not know even existed :)
Paul Namiboo: I'm a newbie, haven't even managed to change my hair color -- butr I think I like it dark, makes me more contemplative
Pila Mulligan: yes, you have a theologian's aura Paul
stevenaia Michinaga: can you explain the connection for you, Paul?
Hana Furlough: yeah how come it says cultivator over my name?
Paul Namiboo: I was introduced by my friend Doug Sosa -- I'm interested in very big questions (perhaps with no answers) such as "what is human life for?"
Pila Mulligan: it is for humans?
    stevenaia Michinaga: next question
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Pila Mulligan: and a few wayward monkeys
Lingerer Xaris: I thought that that you chose that prefix, Hana
Paul Namiboo: Some people think it's for gathering objects
    Lingerer Xaris: weird
Pila Mulligan: seriously, it is for movement
Hana Furlough: i don't know how it got there
stevenaia Michinaga: we are for movement, Pila
Pila Mulligan: it is a group label, Hana
Pila Mulligan: you can turn it off if you want
Pila Mulligan: some say we are steve
Lingerer Xaris: I think it is perfect for Hana
Lingerer Xaris: She is a cultivator of humans, :)
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Hana Furlough: lol me too
Paul Namiboo: as long as she doesn't disk them under :)
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Hana Furlough: lol cultivator of myself?
    stevenaia Michinaga: disk?
Pila Mulligan: a farm implement used for cultivation
stevenaia Michinaga: I seem to missing key words tonight
    stevenaia Michinaga: awww
    stevenaia Michinaga: puns
Paul Namiboo: I find it relaxing anyway -- weirdly like sitting down with a group of friends even tho I only know Doug in RL
Lingerer Xaris: farm humor goes right over my head, lol
    Pila Mulligan: (rl phone call)
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, for the most part, friends come easy here, when you drop judgements
Paul Namiboo: When I was a kid I went to the NY Worlds Fair and Bell announced that by 1975 everyone would have a phone embedded in their head when they were born
Paul Namiboo: I think we've nearly gottn there --SOB
    Hana Furlough: nice, stevenaia
stevenaia Michinaga: well if a hip is close enough, we are getting closer
Lingerer Xaris: Wow, that reminds me of the doomsdayers who keep waiting for us to all have credit card codes imprinted on our necks
Hana Furlough: you mean you don't have one yet?
    Hana Furlough: : )
stevenaia Michinaga: wel thre is the earpiece
Paul Namiboo: Does anyone know how Hana and Stevenala got imprinted as cultivator and listener?
    Lingerer Xaris: Good question
    --BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: you selet groups to belong to, each group has a chosen tag that appears aboce your name
    Paul Namiboo: Thanks
    stevenaia Michinaga: for instance
Hana Furlough: i have no idea how it got there
    Hana Furlough: lol magic
Paul Namiboo: I don't think a guardian wants to claim us
    Lingerer Xaris: we are orphans!
Hana Furlough: i can claim if someone tells me how
stevenaia Michinaga: my yoga group appears as "yogi
stevenaia Michinaga: my Pink Floyd group appears as Brink in the Wall
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: Brick
Paul Namiboo: How long have you guys each been meeting at PaB
    Pila Mulligan: hi Threedee
    Hana Furlough: hi 3d
    Paul Namiboo: Hi Threedee
stevenaia Michinaga: a years sice last april or may
Threedee Shepherd: Sorry folks, I am Goc and totally "spaced" the time
stevenaia Michinaga: i;s yours for the claiming Three
stevenaia Michinaga: we can each wear many diferent tags
stevenaia Michinaga: I think 25 or so
Paul Namiboo: Well, somebody please say something profound -- like "A wet bird flies not at night"!
Lingerer Xaris: was that prfound? lol
    Pila Mulligan: hmmm, profound ........
Hana Furlough: lol what does that mean paul?
Lingerer Xaris: hey hana, talk about the pole
    Lingerer Xaris: that is profound
    Hana Furlough: lol ok
    Pila Mulligan: the pole?
Threedee Shepherd: A Zen Haiku: Departing geese do not intend their reflection in the lake below"
stevenaia Michinaga: "The saying 'a wet bird never flies at night' was a catch phrase used by Jackie Vernon - a stand up comic on the television in the 70's
    Hana Furlough: one moment
Paul Namiboo: Sorry -- it's an old joke -- someone takes a trip to the Himalays (you can make it as long as you want) and finally sees the Guru who says thatr
    Hana Furlough: http://www.sacred-texts.com/bud/glg/glg46.htm
Paul Namiboo: Then when the traveler s says -- I come xxxx miles and go thru xxx to see yoiu and you tell me that?
Paul Namiboo: And the Guru replies "You mean wet birds do fly at night?" BAD JOKE -- SORRY
    Hana Furlough: haha i see
    Pila Mulligan: nice link Hana
    Hana Furlough: thanks
Hana Furlough: i love that case
Hana Furlough: but what do you make of it pila?
    Hana Furlough: and others?
Pila Mulligan: the idea of doing the unlikely
    Pila Mulligan: if not impossible
Threedee Shepherd: I make of it that "all is illusion"
    Hana Furlough: how so?
Pila Mulligan: guru myths are full of magic
Pila Mulligan: the dea guru who comes aliave long enought to tell his student to settle down
    Pila Mulligan: etc
Pila Mulligan: so climbing beyond the top of the pole is a kind of metaphor for the unlikely act
Paul Namiboo: i LIKE A LOT OF hAIKU, BECAUSE IT MAKES you think -- why should that silly joke stick in my mind for decades when I can't remember why I entered a room half the time?
Threedee Shepherd: Perhaps Pila it is the ability to note tht the pole goes higher still?
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: Jack and the Bean Pole
    Hana Furlough: lol yes!
    Paul Namiboo: :)
Pila Mulligan: or Stairway to heaven
Threedee Shepherd: Paul, I COULD tell you, but you would probbly forget ;)
    Pila Mulligan: to be musical
    Hana Furlough: nice~
    Paul Namiboo: Try me
Lingerer Xaris: We should call this Play as Being ADD. LOL
Threedee Shepherd: Long term memory is very stable, especially is accessed every now ant then. As us old guys and gals age, short term memory ceases to work as well as it did when younger.
    Hana Furlough: play as add
Paul Namiboo: Nothing wrong with a little fun at (for me) the end of the day. My owner says we should eat some dinner
    Pila Mulligan: chow tmie
    Threedee Shepherd: Enjoy!
    stevenaia Michinaga: what;s for dinner?
Paul Namiboo: You are of course correct #D -- can you also then explain the "tip-of-the-tongue" phenomenon?
    --BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: hmm, I have been looking at the tip of my tongue for the first time w/o a mirror
    stevenaia Michinaga: thank you Paul
Pila Mulligan: touogh work Steve :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: suprised myself
Hana Furlough: wow what's that like?
Threedee Shepherd: Is your tongue elongating or your nose retracting?
Paul Namiboo: What I can't figure is which parts of the long-term memory pop up when -- but if I don't remember the time it'll be may first divorce. Hope I see you all again. Bye
stevenaia Michinaga: like seeing your elbow I suppose
stevenaia Michinaga: you know it;s there but tough to see
Pila Mulligan: have a nice dinner/evening Paul
    Paul Namiboo: Thanx
    Hana Furlough: bye paul
Hana Furlough: have a happy dinner
    Paul Namiboo: You all too
    Threedee Shepherd: bye
Hana Furlough: so how did everyone's 9 secs go today?
Pila Mulligan: mine were fine, but just afew
Hana Furlough: how about you, lingerer?
stevenaia Michinaga: I come here to pause
stevenaia Michinaga: or in tonights case, spend time with tongue metaphors
    Hana Furlough: : )
Lingerer Xaris: i love the pauses
stevenaia Michinaga: thinking the tip of your tongue thought must be a place close you cannot see, I proved that was not a good place to put out of reach memories
Hana Furlough: do you think we can ever get to a place where there is no pause, or everything is a pause?
Threedee Shepherd: In Japan the equivalent phrase is: "it's on the tip of my finger."
Lingerer Xaris: Haha! When Threedee is saying something, it comes out of his lion mouth like a roar! THat is adorable.
    Hana Furlough: lol nice!
    Threedee Shepherd: Wanna know why
Lingerer Xaris: I like hanging out with wise lions
    Hana Furlough: me too
    Lingerer Xaris: sure, why?
Hana Furlough: it feels like being at the new york public library
    Lingerer Xaris: HAHAHA
stevenaia Michinaga: I found a quote similar to that that I put on my profile
stevenaia Michinaga: a quote I out on my profile
    stevenaia Michinaga: oops
stevenaia Michinaga: If life is a meditation, what is not meditating
    Lingerer Xaris: right
Threedee Shepherd: because the person who is trying to remember something is actually trying to remember the Kanji ideogram for the thing, and is trying to trace it out with their finger on the palm of their other hand.
Lingerer Xaris: although, there is def. a difference between activity and pause
    Lingerer Xaris: oh cool, Threedee
Hana Furlough: yeah it can feel like that
Threedee Shepherd: My daughter who lived in Japan for 4 years told me about that
    --BELL--
Lingerer Xaris: i find my finger sometimes air-tracing the word i am saying while i am saying it.
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Lingerer Xaris: but that might have more to do with being a writer
Lingerer Xaris: and slightly frenetic, ha
Hana Furlough: that sounds so nice
Hana Furlough: like you're being the words
Lingerer Xaris: it appears in me as a fascination with words
Pila Mulligan: do oyu write from imagery or do your writing odeas form in words Lingerer?
    Lingerer Xaris: I love calligraphy
Threedee Shepherd: I have an inverse problem. I often say the words I am typing in a chat such as this and sometimes say a word and then skip typint it.
    Pila Mulligan: ideas*
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Lingerer Xaris: it comes as both
    Pila Mulligan: me too
Lingerer Xaris: when i'm writing a novel or short story, it is mostly images
Lingerer Xaris: I try to watch the scene unfold and describe what i see
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Hana Furlough: wow that's beautiful
Lingerer Xaris: but sometimes, in poetry mostly, i hear words
    Pila Mulligan: from your muse
    Lingerer Xaris: YES :)
    Hana Furlough: yes!
Lingerer Xaris: So, threedee, you say the words out loud?
Threedee Shepherd: yes but very softly. that is not the case when I am actually writing a "document" however.
    Hana Furlough: interesting~
Threedee Shepherd: I think it is because I treat type-chat as if I am really talking
Pila Mulligan: have you tried SL voice Threedee (i suspect you have)
Pila Mulligan: it is an interesting addition to the flow of thoughts
    Pila Mulligan: an added dimension
Threedee Shepherd: I have, but it works so poorly, often, and most people donot seem to use it
Pila Mulligan: that too has been my expereince
Pila Mulligan: Eos tried combining SL graphics and Skype voic eonce
    Pila Mulligan: for aocnference
    Pila Mulligan: a conference*
Threedee Shepherd: actually that works fairly well
Pila Mulligan: he said it was still kind of rough edged getting balanced
Pila Mulligan: for a larger group
Threedee Shepherd: I have done it in small groups successfully
    Pila Mulligan: yep, easier
Threedee Shepherd: That is how it is done in OpenSim, at the momoent
Pila Mulligan: I hope the rl retreat gathering is going well
Threedee Shepherd: I have no info
Pila Mulligan: I think they are more or less incomnicado
    Pila Mulligan: +u*
Threedee Shepherd: I thought they were in California?
Pila Mulligan: they are a little bit above Califonrnia :)
Pila Mulligan: the hidden state of incommunicado
Threedee Shepherd: That's odd, I thought a goal is to be grounded.
    Pila Mulligan: on clouds
Threedee Shepherd: back to typing: When I am working on something "creative" it feels like the only way I know what I want to be saying is by seeing the results my fingers type
Lingerer Xaris: I like the way you put that, Threedee
Pila Mulligan: do you then spend much time editing it?
    Hana Furlough: wow nice!
    --BELL--
Threedee Shepherd: Once I got a computer I immediately fell into the habit of editing as I go, and then look at it a day later
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Threedee Shepherd: For me now, there is no such thing as a first draft
    stevenaia Michinaga: night all
    Pila Mulligan: bye Steve
    Threedee Shepherd: bye steve
    Hana Furlough: bye steve
stevenaia Michinaga: I will be standing in for Eos tomarrow while he is at the retreat
    Threedee Shepherd: ok
    Pila Mulligan: nice
Hana Furlough: great see you then
Pila Mulligan: I've always done numerous drafs, but it sure easier wehn you are using wordrprocessing
Threedee Shepherd: I find that writing works poorly if I try to "think" about it as I go.
Hana Furlough: i should get going as well
    Pila Mulligan: bye Hana
    Threedee Shepherd: g'nite Hana
Hana Furlough: have a wonderful night~
    Pila Mulligan: same to you
Lingerer Xaris: Back to work for me. It was nice to see you all!
    Threedee Shepherd: Same here, bye
    Pila Mulligan: bye
Pila Mulligan: see you next time Threedee
    Threedee Shepherd: indeed ^.^
