    Korel Laloix: Heya
    stevenaia Michinaga: hey there
stevenaia Michinaga: how are you, back to school?
Korel Laloix: Yes second wee back in...
Korel Laloix: Good to be in my final semester
stevenaia Michinaga: nice, the end of the begining
    Korel Laloix: True.
Korel Laloix: So looking forward to being done.
    Korel Laloix: Thesis is done.
Korel Laloix: Just classes this time.
stevenaia Michinaga: I;ve always love Thesis titles, do you have an interesting one?
Korel Laloix: Not really... second one was on funding medical reserach for career women atheletes.
    --BELL--
Korel Laloix: It started out pretty simple.. but one of the people on my panel started politicizing it and ruined for me... grrr.. but done now
stevenaia Michinaga: typical, bending things to suit the advisors
Korel Laloix: My advisore was great.. but this one prof coerced her way onto my panel then started being stupid.
stevenaia Michinaga: sounds jsut the the real world, get used to it
    stevenaia Michinaga: unfortunately
Korel Laloix: I put her in her place on my defense....
Korel Laloix: But it did make me did quite a bit more.. so I learned more.
stevenaia Michinaga: I was once chair of this quite large yet very reasonable committee to re-write a local zoning ordanance, which was great until 6 months beofre completion someone insisted on being on the committe who's only point was to undo everything unless it included everything he wanted
stevenaia Michinaga: eventually , due to budget reasons his additions were not possible at that late stage, but he did make it dificult
Korel Laloix: This was essentially that.
Korel Laloix: She wanted to make sure that my paper reflected her political views.
stevenaia Michinaga: well there is something to get out of that, understanding even if you disagree
Korel Laloix: It was bad.. but it is done.
stevenaia Michinaga: which brings us to tonights topic of Intentions of Kindness
Santoshima Resident: 's current display-name is "San".
stevenaia Michinaga: one person's kindness (the advisor's) can be another's pain
stevenaia Michinaga: well I guess no one thought of it as kindness except her
Korel Laloix: No.. I dont think that was the case.. i think she actually wanted to do harm.
Korel Laloix: But not sure.. she is a bit crazy.. but tenured.
    Santoshima Resident: hello

    --BELL--

    Korel Laloix: Bozho San.
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi San
stevenaia Michinaga: wow, that look suits you nicely

Korel Laloix: Out of kindess of course... smiles
    Santoshima Resident: hmm, possibly
    stevenaia Michinaga: lol
stevenaia Michinaga: ponders kindness to yourself
Santoshima Resident: yeah what does that look like
stevenaia Michinaga: never thought of that
Santoshima Resident: what does a caring attitude look like
Santoshima Resident: if you were to draw it
Korel Laloix: Depends on if you have a whip or not.
    Santoshima Resident: :)
    Korel Laloix smiles
stevenaia Michinaga: hehe, perhaps compassion is kindness
Korel Laloix: I have a hard time with the definition of kindness.
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps you should redefine it
stevenaia Michinaga: what would you define it as?
Korel Laloix: Not sure... is it a good will act or expression down with no expecation of benifit?
    Korel Laloix: done
Korel Laloix: Or is it giving something they need even if they don't want it?
stevenaia Michinaga: I like the 1st one better
Korel Laloix: But I like both..
    Korel Laloix: brb
stevenaia Michinaga: I suppose your advisor acted on both
Santoshima Resident: missed that part of the chat
Korel Laloix: Not sure really... trying to understand when people have done things to me.
Korel Laloix: Find a way to see if they meant them as kindness.
Korel Laloix: Even if I was not OK with it at the time.
Korel Laloix: Back in a min... frowns
    Santoshima Resident: ok,
stevenaia Michinaga: those are the lessons learned only long after the "act"
    Santoshima Resident: percolate
    stevenaia Michinaga: Korel poofs..

Santoshima Resident: when i log in using Firestorm it crashes
Santoshima Resident: i discovered, in a moment when it allowed me to look briefly before crashing, that it is changing to ULTRA qulaity in graphics.
Santoshima Resident: Far beyond when i set
stevenaia Michinaga: no, not for a while, but I usually quit everything else and it still sucked my processors up to 70%
Santoshima Resident: and far beyond what my computer grahic card can handle
    Santoshima Resident: ok, reading
    Santoshima Resident: {i lok at keys when typing ... will catch up}
    Santoshima Resident: hmm,

stevenaia Michinaga: no backup for me
Santoshima Resident: i can run if lowest graphics
Santoshima Resident: but, as i mentioned, firestorm is messing with that
