Wol Euler was guardian for this session.

carlicann Resident's current display-name is "Carl Solutionary".
    Wol Euler: timezone-appropriate greetings, carl
    carlicann Resident: Namaste Wol
carlicann Resident: <-- going timezone inappropriate today lol
    Wol Euler smiles.
carlicann Resident: Sex Pistols... usually I start weekends with The Doors lol
    Wol Euler grins.
Wol Euler: do I have weekend music? hmmmm
Wol Euler: I used to, I used to have a habit of playing Respighi's "Pines of Rome/Fountains of Rome" and something else I can't remember
Wol Euler: "Rhapsody in Blue", Gershwin
Wol Euler: but I haven't done that in quite a while. I wonder why.
Wol Euler: No time like the present! heheh
    carlicann Resident: Hiya QT
    Qt Core: Hi Cari, Wol
carlicann Resident: I have weekend music... in a perverse sense... because I want to make sure I'm having more fun than anyone else
    Wol Euler: hello qt
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: that sounds unusually competitive for you, carl
    Wol Euler: why is that?
carlicann Resident: competitiveness is in my DNA... but not on the surface...
Qt Core: in the end everyone is, even the humble one is, they want to be the humblest one
Wol Euler: I suspect we all have a streak of it in us *somewhere*
Wol Euler: in some people it's wider and closer to the surface than in others
Qt Core: (thinking about dangerous sports like F1 or motogp)
Qt Core: or just stock brokers ;-)
    Wol Euler: or card players
Wol Euler: or spoon collectors :)

    --BELL--

carlicann Resident: <-- still tuning into this planet... ummm just rolled out of bed lol
    carlicann Resident: soory
    carlicann Resident: soory
    Wol Euler: no worries
Wol Euler: just a moment, there are cooking smells that shouldn't be here
carlicann Resident: we are all selfish and self serving by default ... what makes us turn to higher purposes?
Wol Euler: in some cases further selfishness :)
    Wol Euler: competitive charity
carlicann Resident: there are little funding puddles everywhere... and all competing with each other
Wol Euler: in others perhaps a kind of "waking up"
Qt Core: agree with Wol (wasn't finding the wording myself)
    Qt Core: do ut des
carlicann Resident: the epitome of selfishness is the bilionaire
carlicann Resident: not my goal in life
carlicann Resident: a futile pursuit IMHO
Qt Core: but being one as its uses ;-)
Qt Core: not that i'm one
carlicann Resident: Bill Gates is causing as much harm as good... he's on the wrong side of the education debate for example
Wol Euler: is there an education debate?
Wol Euler: (somebody who didn't go to university and became fabulously successful is bound to see university as less useful than the majority who did go and becase slightly more successful)
carlicann Resident: the private versus the public... private is attacking the public... Wall St wants that billion dollar tax market for it's own greedy purposes
Qt Core: and all those costly books, why isn't the Bible enough ?
carlicann Resident: interesting.... Gates is a dropout... so screw everyone else
Wol Euler: it seems a natural human reflex to say "I didn't need that so you don't need it either"
Wol Euler: and therefore people in wheelchairs are just showing off.
    Wol Euler smiles.
    carlicann Resident: omg
Wol Euler: (the second part is my rebuttal)
Wol Euler: "I don't need food stamps, therefore nobody in America is hungry."
carlicann Resident: the hard cold heartedness... of depriving the poor of food... and healthcare... I just don't understand... how can people be so cruel?
Wol Euler: I'm coming to the belief that it is self-hatred, Carl
Wol Euler: because the republican states are the ones that have the most food stamp recipients

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: the highest percentage of welfare recipients generally
Wol Euler: and clearly hate themselves for it
carlicann Resident: the bell rang at an appropirate moment imho
carlicann Resident: Obamacare advances the new deal reforms... and willl become permanent fixtures of American society
Wol Euler: for certain values of "permanent"
carlicann Resident: they are trying to stop history... reverse the course of the Mississippi and stuff
carlicann Resident: in theory... the world as we know it ends in 9 days...
carlicann Resident: US Gov defaults on it's debt... and anarchy reigns America...
carlicann Resident: IMHO... I don't think that should change what we are doing 1 iiota
carlicann Resident: those ppls in Congress are lunatics.... and their taskmasters won't let them destroy society.... but they love rattling their swords
Wol Euler: it's a new definition of patriotism: Somebody who is willing to destroy his beloved home country rather than admit that a political opponent was not wrong.
carlicann Resident: makes markets swing.. and certain billionaires will get richer
carlicann Resident: International Day of Peace... UN Holiday... ends in 1 hour
Qt Core: didn't even knew it existed
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: nor I
Wol Euler: perhaps that's why there was so little traffic yesterday?
Qt Core: if you search enough every day of the years have many celebration, religious or not
    Wol Euler nods.

    --BELL--

carlicann Resident: I did everything I could... almost... to publicize the Day of Peace Hmmmm
Qt Core: wondering which day is the International day of bended spoons
Qt Core: Around here the international day of peace is 1/1, sponsored by the catholic church
Wol Euler: ah, so what we need to do is to get another 363.25 recognized and respected organizations to each declare a different day of peace! Problem solved! heheh
    Qt Core: :)
Wol Euler: or perhaps leave the leap days open as a Day of Letting It All Out.
Qt Core: there was a movie about a day when you copuld do anything with no (legal) consequences haven't seen it btw
    Wol Euler: an interesting idea
Qt Core: don't know how i would feel having colleagues comeing searching to kill me ;-)
carlicann Resident: final hour of Int'l Day of Peace http://www.peacebeats.co.uk/home.html
Wol Euler: yes, I meant "interesting" in the sense of "horrific"
Qt Core: i think a punching ball, maybe with a picture on it should be enough to relieve stress... or some chocolate

    --BELL--

carlicann Resident: the entire concept is absurd to me... I don't feel like there is any law holding me back from doing something...
carlicann Resident: if there are ppls who think that way... would scare me big time
    carlicann Resident: the criminal mind...
Qt Core: laws don't stop you doing things, they just state "a cost" for doing things, (and then there is the probablility to have to pay it) you choose
Qt Core: leaving out moral issues, that is
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: or they clarify situations. There is, for example, no overriding *need* to drive on the right side of hte road instead of the left, but it is obviously in everyone's interest that we all drive the same way.
Wol Euler: Law in that case saves us from having to stop our cars and get out and negotiate with every person we meet coming the other way.
Qt Core: that would be fun ;-)
Wol Euler: it would! but very slow, and speed is the purpose of cars
Wol Euler: there's nothing you can do with a car that you couldn't do on foot with a large enough wheelbarrow
Wol Euler: including having sex in the back seat :)
Qt Core: trying to visualize a wheelbarrow with all the modern gadget, like parking sensor or gps navigation
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Qt Core: the kitchen is calling, bye all and have fun!
Wol Euler: bye qt, cook well.
    Wol Euler: and bye carl.
