    Bleu Oleander: yes, HNY
    Eliza Madrigal: lots of adventure
Bleu Oleander: what's been happening here this week?
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not sure at all...
Catrinamonblue Resident: I have been away from SL for 2 weeks!! busy RL :)
Bleu Oleander: the weather has been so beautiful here ... we're spending lots of time outdoors
    Eliza Madrigal: cool and blue?
    Bleu Oleander smiles
Bleu Oleander: sunny and in the 70's
    Eliza Madrigal: perfect
    Bleu Oleander: indeed
Bleu Oleander: even our trip back to NYC was unusually warm
Eliza Madrigal: I think that's not the case there now :)
Bleu Oleander: had lunch outside at a wonderful rooftop restaurant
Bleu Oleander: yes, just missed the snow ... got out in the nic of time
Eliza Madrigal: I'd love to go to NY soon.... did you manage any exhibits?
Catrinamonblue Resident: brb :) food calling
Bleu Oleander: we went to the Frick and MoMA
Bleu Oleander: the Frick had a wonderful 17th C Dutch masters show
Bleu Oleander: "The Goldfinch" was part of the show
    Eliza Madrigal: ah!
Bleu Oleander: having read the book felt compelled to see it
Eliza Madrigal: so glad...what was that like?
Bleu Oleander: MoMA had Magritte ... one of my all time favs
Bleu Oleander: the Goldfinch painting was indeed lovely
Bleu Oleander: a light in a room of darkness
    --BELL--
Bleu Oleander: was fun to connect with something from the 17th C
Bleu Oleander: "the nail where your fate is liable to catch and snag"
Bleu Oleander: interesting quote from the book
    Eliza Madrigal: hmmm.... about 'time'?
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Bleu Oleander: funny, a 17th C clock at the Frick had the right time
    Bleu Oleander: we noticed, 12:40pm
Bleu Oleander: when we got to MoMA
Bleu Oleander: noticed a painting by Magritte had a clock with the same time!
Eliza Madrigal: oh, goodness... details....and hm, Uncanny!
Bleu Oleander: yes, the painting "time transfixed"
Eliza Madrigal: seems a wonderful holiday
    Bleu Oleander: it was!
Bleu Oleander: family behaved too haha
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
Bleu Oleander: 40 of us in one room
Eliza Madrigal: that's the hardest part...largest variable - @@ oops... set of variables!
Catrinamonblue Resident: oh wow a lot of people :)
    Eliza Madrigal: big family
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Catrinamonblue Resident: going to go :) have company today so will be missing the guardian session :)
    Eliza Madrigal: okay Cat, ntsy
    Bleu Oleander: ntsy Cat
Catrinamonblue Resident: bye guys :) have a great day
    Bleu Oleander: take care
Eliza Madrigal: Wol isn't well, so I think the main topic I'd had in mind for guardians session will be tabled anyway...retreats
    Bleu Oleander: ah ok
    Bleu Oleander: hopefully not serious
Eliza Madrigal: Wol would like to plan one...but that may mean European
    Bleu Oleander: oh rl?
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: there is something about keeping going through weeks of hoopla, that one needs to recover afterward a bit...and if one doesn't set aside the time then body may do so anyway :)
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Bleu Oleander: we've been spending lots of time outdoors
    Bleu Oleander: seems to help
Bleu Oleander: feels like spring here
    Eliza Madrigal: healing of nature
Eliza Madrigal: it has been mostly just 'hot' here....although the last few days were cool and breezy
    Eliza Madrigal: evenings are nicest
    Bleu Oleander: can imagine
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: am thinking about that feeling (easy to get into in museums).... wandering and immersing... in one's "own world" - then someone suddenly says "Hello" and there is a delay ... like the world shakes a little
Bleu Oleander: can happen anywhere actually
Eliza Madrigal: like one has to remember where they are, that there are others, hah
    Bleu Oleander: guilty
Bleu Oleander: suppose we all are at times
Bleu Oleander: living in our own edited worlds
    Eliza Madrigal: dreamlands
    Eliza Madrigal: aimless wandering
Bleu Oleander: good books do that to me
Bleu Oleander: pull me out of one world into another
Eliza Madrigal: very much so.. or 'flavor' the present world with a past or fictional one.... like an overlay
Eliza Madrigal: do they change your language/speech as well?
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Bleu Oleander: yes sometimes
    Eliza Madrigal: love that feeling
    Bleu Oleander: me too!
Bleu Oleander: keeps me coming back :)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Bleu Oleander: another quote I liked from the Goldfinch:

Bleu Oleander: between “reality” on the one hand and the point where the mind strides reality there’s a middle zone, a rainbow edge where beauty comes into being where two very different surfaces mingle and blur to provide what life doesn’t: and this is the space where all art exists, and all magic, and all love

Bleu Oleander: might have mentioned it before
Eliza Madrigal: oooooh, that is stunning
Bleu Oleander: can't stop thinking about it
    Eliza Madrigal: :::stops to wonder:::::
    Eliza Madrigal: seems exactly right
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Eliza Madrigal: just added the book back onto resolutions
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
    Bleu Oleander smiles
Bleu Oleander: now reading the FlameThrowers ... also about art
    Bleu Oleander: very different though
Eliza Madrigal: I think, that quote captures 'sweet spot'
    Eliza Madrigal: oh?
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Bleu Oleander: 70's NYC art world
    Bleu Oleander: Italians and motorcycles
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I'm trying to think of what was 'happening' in Art in the 70s, NY.... hm
    Eliza Madrigal: Warhol still...
Bleu Oleander: land art was popular
    Bleu Oleander: Smithson, de Maria
    Bleu Oleander: Warhol still
Eliza Madrigal: (had to goggle de Maria)
    Bleu Oleander: hehe
Bleu Oleander: saw his dirt room
    Bleu Oleander: was amazingly interesting
Eliza Madrigal: haha...looking at photos.... wow
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: Ai Wei Wei must have been very influenced by him
Bleu Oleander: have know some who visited the Lightning Fields
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: Serra was one of my favorites
Eliza Madrigal: lightning fields...what an idea to pull off @@
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Bleu Oleander: can be quite an experience
Bleu Oleander: although I would want to know the other 5 people there haha
Eliza Madrigal: Serra's very interesting, but I don't think is captured well outside of direct encounter
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
Bleu Oleander: yes, have walked through many Serras
Eliza Madrigal: I've not had a chance to see his work, but a long interview I saw with him gave just one good camera shot that captured something of his vision
Bleu Oleander: he was just on Charlie Rose
Bleu Oleander: has a show up in NYC
Eliza Madrigal: we have a new museum here, and I hope that we'll begin to draw these artists
    Bleu Oleander: nice!
Eliza Madrigal: it is a full cultural center being built...with new science museum as well
Bleu Oleander: convince an artist to visit a warm sunny climate ... seems very possible!
Eliza Madrigal: Art Basel has finally taken off here hugely
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not sure Miami on the whole felt has felt like an art center since Cristo and the islands :)
Eliza Madrigal: and the deco areas of course
Bleu Oleander: forget about Christo being there ... saw the Gates in NYC
Bleu Oleander: took our group there for that
Eliza Madrigal: would have enjoyed that too
Eliza Madrigal: maybe can convince Wol that NYC is the best place to retreat ^.^
    Eliza Madrigal: lol
    Bleu Oleander: YES!
    Bleu Oleander: biased of course
    Eliza Madrigal: :) me too
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Bleu Oleander: would be nice to go when there was an interesting art show
    Eliza Madrigal: agreed
Bleu Oleander: of course NYC is always an interesting show in itself
Eliza Madrigal: was fortunate to see the last Warhol at Moma, and a year or so before, the Matisse exhibit
    Bleu Oleander: yes me too
Eliza Madrigal: true... quite hard to arrive to NY and there be nothing happening
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: have always been able to envision SL/PaB crossover ideas when in museums... likely thanks to you
Bleu Oleander: nice ... don't think I can take credit for that though :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: sure ya can
    Bleu Oleander: lol
Eliza Madrigal: OK...time for coffee and guardians session...
Eliza Madrigal: thanks for this time Bleu
Bleu Oleander: ok nice to see you
Bleu Oleander: will join the guardian meeting for a few minutes
    Eliza Madrigal: you too.. great
Bleu Oleander: then I'm off for a hike
